DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS-- My Korg B2 keyboard had liquid damage. A friend's cat peed on a blanket that was on the keyboard. I removed the blanket immediately, wiped down the keyboard, and let it dry. I dry-wiped it after 4 days and turned it on. All keys worked and it played fine EXCEPT for 4 keys. I took it in for repairs and got a quote. My friend offered to replace it so I picked it up. I then sold it. But when he turned it on, now 45 KEYS DID NOT WORK! Why would I get a keyboard back in worse condition than when I brought it in?? When I called GPS about it, they accused ME of not telling the truth, saying that it wasn't true. "Prove it," he said. I found and used the best. I have an Ampeg foot pedal that has not worked since I received it. The seller on e-bay was long gone. It's a vintage pedal but 'mint' condition. This is a little late but worthy of mention.I am usually the guy that asks questions and buys parts but this time around I wasn't capable of the repair so I left it to the pros at GPS. After dealing with an intermittent on/off issue and attempting to repair the amp myself I knew GPS would get the job done and get it done correctly without any hassle except maybe a week's wait since they're always busy as most repair shops of this nature tend to be. I would also like to mention that whenever I have a question they have an answer.I've even brought equipment to them that was beyond repair and they told me upfront. Was referred here by the manufacturer of my tube bass head. Got the estimate about 2 weeks later. Please avoid at all costs. I was told it would cost an outrageous amount (over $500), and that all my Russian tubes would need to be replaced. That the war in Ukraine raised prices (don't doubt that). I declined the service. I took it to my personal tech, and he said it was a small electrical issue. He fixed it for 70 bux. My amp now works like a charm -- again. I don't like lying musical repair shops. I've used GPS Electronics for all my gear. Never had an issue. I've had issues with amps (I've owned a few over the years) and one he couldn't diagnose straight away, he had me take it and play until I was able to record the issue bring back fixed it all at no extra charges. I took the amp back multiple times over the month until we found the random issue and fixed. George is honest and I've never had an issue with him or his staff. If you need your amplifier repaired and you are in the Los Angeles area, I have the hot ticket for you: do not take it to your local guitar shop, because they are probably going to send it out somewhere else for repair. And that somewhere else is probably going to be GPS Electronics over in Norwalk, so go there first and cut out the middle man. GPS Electronics has been in business since 1996 and does work for music stores, the local theme parks (we have some big ones), city governments, school districts, churches, and of course everyday musicians like us. They specialize in guitar amplifier repair, but are also have tons of experience repairing PA systems, keyboard, pedals, speakers, and mixing boards. Besides retail repairs, this shop is also an authorized warranty service center for Ampeg, Crate, Fender, GK, Marshall, Peavey, Yamaha and many more manufacturers. That says a lot about the experience of the technicians and the confidence that these companies have in GPS Electronics. I recently needed to have my Ampeg B15T repaired (it had gone teats up), and I took it over to George (the G, of GPS) to have them look it over. Their shop is located in an office park and there are no big signs, so make sure you get your directions straight before you head over. From the front counter I could see a few of the repair benches in the back, and noted that the shop was tidy and the technicians were neatly dressed, and there was a metric ton of amplifiers on shelves waiting to be worked on. It seems like it would be a good place to work, not a sweatshop or filthy hell hole. George wrote up my repair order and gave me a date (about a week out) when I would receive my estimate. He called me up a week later with a very reasonable estimate ($82), and quoted me three days for repairs to be completed. Well, three days later my amplifier was done (with no extra charges) and it worked fine when I got it back. This may not sound like a big deal, but in this day and age it is difficult to find shops that do a good job, not to mention keeping the promises and commitments that they make. I wholeheartedly recommend that you give them a try. GPS Electronics is located near the 5 Freeway in Norwalk, making it a convenient drive from Los Angeles or Orange Counties. I wanted to be able to recommend this place. Everyone I talked to was very pleasant and friendly, but unfortunately, they also seemed to have almost no knowledge of the basic functions of the instrument they were attempting to repair and after paying over $250, I am still left with a unit that is unusable. I was referred to GPS through Guitar Center when I brought in my SPD-S sampling drum pad to them. There seemed to be a problem with the connection between the pad triggers and the computer. The LCD display would turn on and all the menus would act normally. I could even listen to the pre-recorded sounds via the buttons on the front, but when I hit the pads, nothing happened. When I called GPS, they were very friendly and gave me an estimate of how long it would likely take before they could start my repair. I was hoping to be able to use the SPD-S for an upcoming gig, so I paid the extra $75 to have them start it immediately . When I got the SPD-S back home after the repair, as soon as I turned the unit on I noticed a high pitch hum or digital oscillation of sorts that came from all the outputs. It was a small annoyance, but not quite loud enough to be unusable live. The real problem was that the hum got even louder when I attempted to record samples (the instruments main feature) and permeated every sample I made. The SPD-S has a feature that allows it to start a sample recording the moment the input level reaches a certain threshold, the hum was loud enough to trigger this feature by itself. Granted, the pads now worked, but there is no way I would perform with the unit sounding like it did. I knew for a fact that there was no hum in the samples I made before the repair because they were still stored on my memory card, perfectly clean. So I called GPS and told them about the problem in as much detail as I could, making sure to emphasize that the noise was loudest when using the sample recording function. They said they would take another look at it and I made another trip to Norwalk to drop it off. A few days later I received a call from GPS. The man said he replaced something but never did notice the hum I was referring to. He said the only hum he heard was when he cranked the volume all the way and that if there were any other sounds, they were probably due to wear on the computer. I didn't know how he possibly could have missed it, so I thought maybe he fixed the problem before he listened, maybe something got jostled around on the way there and it sorted itself out, maybe the noise wasn't as noticeable as I originally thought. I am not an expert, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I picked it up and brought it back home and the noise was still there and definitely noticeable. When I brought it back again (my 5th trip to GPS), I made sure to bring headphones. When I arrived, the two men there told me that the person who repaired my SPD-S would be on vacation for the next couple weeks. I demonstrated the problem to them by making a sample of only the foreign noise by hitting record with nothing plugged and then triggering it with the pad. The volume was less than halfway up. The taller gentleman admitted that the noise was pretty noticeable but made no apologies. "I think he was looking for a hum. You said the noise was a hum. That's more of a high frequency oscillation." I was flabbergasted. What difference did it make what I called it. It was an obvious sound. It obviously wasn't suppose to be there. And I had quite conclusive evidence that it wasn't there before. Meanwhile, the other man was poking at the other pads saying "the noise is only on this one", referring to the pad I just sampled onto. I exasperatedly attempted to explain to him how the unit works and why the noise was only on the pad I just recorded to, but I was out of patience. I told them I would come back when the man who repaired my instrument was back from vacation. I am not looking forward to making a 6th trip to GPS. I cannot recommend them for this type of repair. For all the good this has done me, I would have been better off chucking my SPD-S in the dumpster and putting that $250 toward a new unit. read more

GPS Electronics is honestly one of the best places in So. Cal for amplifier repair as well as keyboard and other electronic instruments. I work for a retail music store that uses GPS for their repairs and I have seen George's shop and dealt with his staff first hand. This shop has great technicians and very fair prices. And if something is not to your liking, George is more than willing to accommodate you until you are happy. I have been using GPS for about 10 years for repairs on my vintage Marshall amps. It can get pricey, until one considers what you're paying for: Service by full-time, knowledgeable experts in a dedicated facility. The repairs I get back sound great. These guys know their stuff. I wish there was a cheaper way to go, but I'll stick with GPS for the above reasons- and the peace of mind they entail. I've noticed some of the dissatisfied reviews here are for repairs of newer/digital equipment. Not saying GPS can't do that stuff, but will say there are no complaints from players like me, who use vintage valve amps. The one amp I've yet to bring them is my 1978 Fender Deluxe Reverb. It's about time for that one- I'm pretty sure they will get it sounding to its full potential, just like the rest. read more

I brought it home to test it out and it blew one of the speakers. I took it back for them to fix it and the owner told me to get out or he was going to call the police.
