I was just denied reasonable accommodation when trying to bring in a candy for my son that is free of synthetic dies and colorings, which he is allergic to. I was told the GM was not there, and the young man assisting us said we he could not accommodate us on the basis of it being a health code violation, which is simply not true. It is a revenue protection policy, which I understand, but to not accommodate for a medical reason is unacceptable. I was purchasing tickets, popcorn, and drinks, there was no reason to deny my accommodation. You have lost a local customer, and I will be spreading the word. read more

I heard from the girls around town that there was a guy named Adam working here that was a "pretty cool guy" according to them. I walked in, and I was met by Adam, who seemed a little shy but that's okay. He was around my age, and probably someone I would be friends with. However, I couldn't not help but recognize his fancy hairstyle. It was like a crossover from 2000s emo and 1980s sitcom classic styles. Not too wild, but not too calm, quite the strong gesture if you tell me. I slipped on the floor and back flipped a few times but Adam helped me up, which I thanked him for. He was surprisingly helpful. So in conclusion, customer service was good. Also, food was expensive but I am pretty much a baller so I didn't even worry about it, probably dropped a few bands on popcorn and candy but it doesn't matter because: 1. My money twerkin 2. My pockets are fat like lizzo If you do not meet the criteria above, it may be a little expensive for you, so either: 1. Get your grind up 2. Don't buy the food Anyways, movie was good, I got to see the new Batman movie, and I tell you what, when I was met with Adam's service, I thought he was batman. A run down, but up kept and clean movie theater. Is that an oxymoron? Anyways while from the outside and in the lobby everything looks modern. Once you get in the theaters you can tell they haven't been touched since the 80's. The seats are very tight together and are a hard seat with only a light cushion on them. At least the theaters are stadium seating. All that being said everything is very clean and in full working order. So back to the oxymoron statement Rundown and Up kept. Service was friendly and tickets were only $5.50 so that might be why they haven't upgraded. Overall a 3 1/2 stars which I'm rounding down to 3. I don't like rounding down here, but those seats can't equal a 4. Would I return? Probably not. read more

Walked into the lobby to a foul smell of...something bad. Mildew? Sewage? Old laundry room water? Not strong enough for us to leave immediately, but enough to smell it through the whole movie and wish we had left immediately. When I mentioned it to the concession girls they just shrugged. As far as I'm concerned being able to see a movie for under $8 is worth four stars. I have never had a problem with this theater. It's cheap, clean, and the staff is generally pleasant. You can even get in a game of air-hocky while you wait for your movie to start. Parking can get tough on busy nights, and they don't always have more alternative movies, but for the price this is the best theater around. Look for the concessions coupons in the Grand Haven Tribune. read more

Very outdated! No leg room, small theater, expensive. We are in town, camping and got a little too much sun so we wanted to see a movie. Picture quality isnt great. The people in front of me were in my lap in the very old outdated seats and it was near impossible to get up to pee without disrupting everyone in the theater especially when the people at the end of the isle to get out wont get up to let us pass. 1 large Popcorn and 2 drinks 20 bucks. 60.00 movie trip for 2 adults and 3 kids, Candy no thank you. Went to take my adult daughters to a movie and Shea, behind the counter was VERY rude. Not only did she never smile or even act in a professional or polite manner. When we laughed out loud she turned to a co-worker and mouthed the derogatory comment "Oh My God" I guess customer service and fun are not priorities at this theater. If you go in don't expect to be treated with respect, but do expect poor customer service. The theater itself was nice, clean and affordable! read more

The seats have been updated and they've kept the low ticket prices, high concessions costs but the most negative the past several months is the smell in the lobby and main hallway has gotten steadily worse. This theater is awesome! Yes it's smaller than any celebration cinema, but it's worth it! The prices are SO much cheaper than celebration, as well as the concessions. Tuesdays' are $5 movies all day, which makes a fun date night! We went on Valentine's day to see a movie and there were 9 of us in the whole theater (which was awesome). Unfortunately there was one couple in there that distracted everyone else in the theater (on their phone, turning on their flashlight, talking loudly, laughing during serious movie moments, taking their shoes and socks off....etc.) It was probably the worst movie experience of my life. BUT, that's not Grand Haven 9's issue, because they can't control people. SO with that said, we called after the movie and talked with the manager explaining the situation and they were very apologetic and offered us free concessions the next time we came in. So they handled that situation well which will keep us coming back to support this theater! Love love love this theater. Go here, not celebration. :) read more

We only go to this theater. We live in Muskegon, but the drive is nothing for what you get in return. It's nice and clean, and the kids who work there are so polite! I've never had a problem there with anything. The popcorn is the best I've ever had, and just for your information, refills are not free-they cost .53. Soda refills are free and I think the slushy drink refill is also complimentary. Yes, it could use some updating, but you aren't paying $10+ for tickets and recliners. Go to the Cinema Carousel for that. read more

I visited this theater for the second time. This theater is in need of some updating. The theater seats are old. The floor to ceiling fabric on the walls are faded and dusty. The lack of do it your self oil/butter on the popcorn is disappointing. The popcorn is pretty tasteless. The restroom stalls are too small for the the newer tissue dispensers they have installed. The door swing makes it very awkward to turn around and close the door. They encourage checking them on yelp. Let's hope they read the comments. read more

Value and quality this is the best theatre in the area, prices are lowest for first run, food prices are the best, and I love the movie club card that allows you to get discounts on movies and food, the best! A quaint, cozy movie theater tucked away in Grand Haven. Tickets and snacks are fairly priced, seats are nicely arranged, and the screens are large. Not as flashy as other theaters in the area, but I highly recommend this one. read more

The tickets are so cheap!!!! Best times to go are the latest showing on Sundays or first show on Saturday (unless its a kids movie) and you will have the theater to yourself. Make sure to get a punch card. After seeing 10-12 (I forget) movies, you get a free combo. 2 drinks and a popcorn. Food is standard Movie food pricing. We all know its high. After posting the review to facebook, my brother received a call from Goodrich Theaters offering $70 in gift cards to compensate for the $70 we had spent on the tickets we could not use. I certainly appreciate the corporate office's outreach to us, so I am changing the score of my review from 1-star to 4-stars. "I am writing to let others know my family had a horrible experience with the Grand Haven 9. Over the 2012 Memorial Day weekend a number of my family members were in town and wanted to go see a movie together. We pre-purchased 8 tickets online, fearing that the show might be sold out if we waited to purchase the tickets at the theater. Shortly thereafter we were informed that our grandmother had been brought by ambulance to the hospital and was dying. Naturally, we cancelled our plans to see the movie and headed to the hospital. We called the theater and were told over the phone that if we came in the next day we could speak with a manager about a refund or a raincheck. So, we went in and were told to speak to the manager on duty "Dustin." We approached the manager at the desk (whom I can only presume was Dustin because he did not introduce himself or ask how he could help, he just stared blankly at us). We told him our story and his only answer was "there's nothing we can do for you," which he repeated several times, and "you signed an agreement that you can't get your money back when you bought the tickets." He made no offer of even a simple condolence for the family tragedy, let alone any attempt to work with us or show us that Goodrich Theaters (parent company of Grand Haven 9) values our business. He asked no questions, showed no concern, and literally just stared blankly and repeated those two things to us. My family attended the theater last evening to see a return showing of Home Alone, originally airing in 1990! We've always loved this movie, having watched it each year at Christmas time in our home. We witnessed things that brought pure sadness to us on an occasion which was meant to be enjoyable. I watched numerous times an usher enter the theater to scold and quiet families! This was a family comedy show. The theater should expect children attending and laughter! The woman in charge brought her rude bossy attitude into the theater and robbed many of a good family time! One mother, seated down and to our left was actually told to keep the child with her quiet and only allow her to laugh during the funny parts! I'm approaching my 59th birthday and I've never sat in a theater and had this experience from someone in charge with a 'Bossy Complex'! Amongst the families laughing, children whispering to their families about funny scenes, and watching a great classic family comedy, the only thing that DISTURBED me was this rude staff member!
