    French Toast
    David J.

Easy street parking with lots of seating both inside and outside. Fresh coffee and homey breakfast foods with a classy twist served by kind people. I ordered a Cold Brew w/ SFV and cream; my partner ordered an Iced SFV latte. Both coffees hit the spot on this warmer Sunday morning. For breakfast, I ordered the Avocado toast w a fried egg. I received two fried eggs (I'm not mad, it was just unexpected); the sourdough bread was fresh and cut rather large. (Again, not angry, just surprising) partner ordered the house-made French toast. It was served with syrup and a jam. He said he enjoyed the French toast, evident by his takeout box having nothing left. Next time I'm in Madison, WI - I'll stop in for some coffee, and if you are in town, you should as well.

I met up with a friend for brunch and I ordered the Chimichurri Steak & Eggs. I ordered the steak medium well and the meal was really good. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that there were too many red pepper flakes. The steak and eggs were cooked perfectly. The restaurant is really beautiful and I will be back again.

I don't know how useful this review will be, since I only ordered a drink and bought some coffee beans and left. This review will be strictly for my very small interaction with this business so take it with a grain of salt. I ordered a soy latte. To be honest, I thought the price for a small was ridiculous. I paid $4.70 for 8 oz. It wasn't that great either. It was missing that rich robust flavor that the espresso would usually bring out in a latte. I was sort of desperate for beans that day, since I work from home, so I make my own coffee usually. I picked a bag that was medium roast. This is just the Madison x Portlandia hooman that I've become speaking, but I was a bit disappointed to find that the roastery that roasted the beans was not local. It looked like there was an awesome spread of pastries though. But also, as much of a dog lover as I am, I question on behalf of non-dog lovers about having a furry dog and uncovered pastries around.

We love the Grace Coffee location on East Wash, the food is always fresh and delicious. My go to is the açaí bowl with nutella and my fiancé loves their sandwiches. His fave is the breakfast wrap or croissant sandwich. The shop itself is relaxing with lots of plants, artwork, and comfy couches! Definitely a great spot for grabbing breakfast on the go or staying to enjoy a coffee and pastry with a friend.

The best acai bowl I've had in a long time. Came here in June and this place has a fantastic atmosphere both inside and out. I love all the plants and greenery they have inside, as well as the artwork/murals on the walls. It's very trendy. They also have great outdoor seating for warm months and are also pet friendly! We saw a lot of doggos today! My wife ordered an iced vanilla latte and it wasn't her favorite. She said she might have wanted more vanilla and less milk in the overall ratio. I loved my large peanut butter acai bowl. It was huge and well worth the price. Also pro tip, if you're going the acai bowl route, spend the extra couple bucks for a large (or whatever the biggest size is called) because it's about double the size of the smaller bowl at a fraction of the cost.

Great place ! Wow. I really liked the almond Croissant and the avocado toast was outstanding. I would definitely come back here. It also had a nice outdoor area and was very covid friendly. Dog friendly too - inside and outside.

I'll start this one with the downfalls then get into the good stuff. It's too tightly packed in here. It's impossible to walk around the cafe without having to scoot around people sitting at tables or on couches. I got up to get a water and had to lean over people eating to squeeze through. Secondly, my açaí bowl took a super long time (roughly 35 minutes) to come out. I had to go up and ask for it and it appeared it may have been in back sitting waiting to be brought out. I saw people who came in after me get their hot food before I got my order. Okay. The good stuff. The oat milk latte with hazelnut was delicious and came up fast, the chocolate muffin was scrumptious and had a unique flavor profile, and the açaí bowl was delightful. I'm glad the portions are huge because I'm having all of this for lunch, too. Suggestions: the super long table needs to be shorter and get rid of one set of the couches in the entrance area to scoot everything apart from each other so it's possible to move around.

This review is only on the French toast!!! Really cute place inside. I ordered the French toast and asked to add fruit. The toast came out super dry and I don't think it's the way they make it (they followed the menu ingredients) but they definitely should change the menu ingredients for this one. It doesn't include syrup - it's top with cinnamon sugar. My butter was hard as a rock. It was hard to enjoy my brunch this afternoon. I highly suggest going to the Sun Prairie one or Cafe Hollander for French toast. I haven't tried their coffee yet so I wouldnt rule that out :)

The Grace Coffee on east wash is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! When you walk in, you it's truly a feast for the eyes with pastries EVERYWHERE, including cinnamon rolls the size of your head. In addition to quick options, you can get full hot meals like breakfast sammies. Everything we've tried has been solid (sandwiches & danishes & lattes). They also have a refrigerated case of unique brews (beer) and juices that you can have there, or take to go. Nice for a lazy brunch, or for a treat! Well-spaced tables inside and outdoor

Open with indoor and outdoor seating during COVID! For anyone who loves coffee shops to be productive but doesn't like coffee, this is your place. They've got a good non-coffee selection. I recommend the matcha as it's surprisingly creamy and delicious, especially with oat milk. Also, their pastry selection will have your mouth watering and stressed from the sheer size! I mean LOOK at that Chocolate almond croissant! Gorgeous and just devilish. It is pretty pricey but not by too much compared to the Madison coffee scene. Beware if you're afraid of dogs because there's a gentle giant just waiting at the door to greet you. He's so friendly and adorable!! The interior is very earthy with the botanical theme and the large amount of space makes social distancing very comfortable.

We tried about two months ago on a Sunday and there was quite a line so we tried somewhere else new to us. It was worth the trip back here! Marigold is a really cute place inside. We were between the breakfast and lunch rushes so we easily found a table after ordering. We noticed there was a steady flow of customers and the tables turned over at a decent pace so maybe we should have stood in line last time around. Hard to know sometimes. We ordered the breakfast burrito, avocado toast and buttermilk pancakes. Service was quick and friendly. The pancakes were fluffy and they looked good. The atmosphere is fine, but for picky eaters, it's a no go. Nothing against the restaurant, their food is just a little too niche and we're unable to make common substitutes or additions. I just wish the had a kids menu section with 2 items that where super simplified and came in kid friendly utensils etc

My daughter had the pancake and sausage link which were also very good. Portions are large, prices are good, and the servers are all very personable. It was off the highway, so I thought I would give it a go. Walked in and it was what you would expect from a Wisconsin diner -- old carpeting, waitresses who are lifers, and signage from the bygone era. I sat at the bar, with barstools that came about 4 feet off the ground, and asked the cordially waitress what was good. She rattled off about 3/4 of the breakfast menu so I needed a few minutes. A few minutes passed and I went with the Krab Cakes Benedict (why the K?) and the Cottage Platter. The crab cakes were decent (definitely better than the Cottage Platter), but very crisp on the outside, straddling the line of burnt, and somewhat cooked on the inside. Light on the seasoning. As they say on the cooking shows, it was screaming for some acidity...or in this case some Old Bay. Then the Cottage Platter, which I was very much looking forward to, fell flat for me. The hashbrowns had a funky taste to them, which I couldn't quite place. And again, overall, the dish was lacking in flavor. Would I go out of my way to hit this place up again? Most likely not. If I was in the area and wanted to try something else, I probably would.
