I want to speak as a witness to something that happened Friday night that didn't sit right with me. I saw a bagpiper come into Grace O'Malley's Whiskey Chapel on Grove Street just looking to relax, like anyone else. He paid for his drink, kept to himself, and was respectful the entire time. A few people even approached him out of interest in the bagpipes, which is something he's known for. Out of nowhere, the manager had security approach him aggressively and told him, word for word, to "get the f*** out." There was no clear reason, no warning, and no justification for that kind of treatment. From what I witnessed, he didn't cause any problems or disrespect anyone. In fact, this is someone who dedicates his time to the community--playing bagpipes at funerals, honoring fallen police officers and firefighters, and supporting their families during some of their hardest moments. To see someone who gives so much back to others be treated with that level of disrespect was honestly disturbing. He handled the situation calmly and chose to leave rather than escalate things, which says a lot about his character. No one deserves to be treated that way, especially when they've done nothing but come in peacefully and respectfully. Situations like this reflect poorly on management and should be addressed. read more

Considering the reviews I really expected the food to be better! The nice part was that the nachos were definitely homemade, but the meat was overcooked and it could've used more cheese. Dropping in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon, I grabbed a seat at the bar and settled in. The menu has pub standards (burgers, fish and chips, shepherds pie, et al) and what they do, they do well. I nabbed a reuben and a pint of Sullivan's. The sandwich was hearty without being too heavy, packed with tender corned beef, melted Swiss, and crisp sauerkraut between toasted rye, with pickle chips and house Russian dressing on the side. Been in JC for 2 decades and was at GOM w a friend for lunch. The place is out of control. The menu changed and the pricing increased. The bartender Liz was great as usual. Our food was high priced and low quality. My pal had a Reuben with almost no meat and lots of fat and soggy fries. I had a cheese burger w aside salad with no tomatoes or onions etc. I had 2 00Guniness for $10 each. It's the same price as a alcohol Guinness but with less ounces so price should be lower. I used to love going there with my friends for football. If they keep pricing so high and quality low we will not go there again. It's a shame because the place looks good. Irish Breakfast wasn't available in JC during the first couple years of my Uber Eats era, and I was glad to try the outstanding version from Grace O'Malley's. Yes, the banger sausage melds beautifully with the eggs. Perhaps more surprising is the fine work on the vegetable side of things including the roasted tomato. Not sure if mushrooms are an official component of Irish breakfasts but they sure worked here. The apple turnover was awesome on its own, even better when you add the whiskey sauce. read more

Been here a handful of times for lunch and drinks early evening. The GM and some of the staff are nice..The place has the look and feel of a classic Irish bar with decent food. Glad it worked out how it did though because 1. I didn't get a photo of the short ribs last time and 2. they were what I wanted originally, just tried to push myself to try something else lol. The short ribs melt like butter, gravy is flavorful. Sides pair perfectly with it, though the carrots tasted a bit sweet last time (think it's the hot honey they say comes on them). Would rather a savory vegetable so tried the broccoli this time and it was bomb. Has an Asian fusion taste without it being over powering or understated. This place is an underrated gem. Prices are a bit high but fair for the food quality and options. Especially compared to how expensive some steak and short rib dishes can be. Stoped here for a quick bite. My wife had the Cobb salad and loved it. I had the burger and it was great. They are very friendly and dog friendly if you have a behaved dog. Great food, Guinness pour 7.5/10. Authentic Irish pub. Short rib Guinness grilled cheese was very solid and plenty of TVs to watch games.

I just have to start off by saying that management was very accommodating. They were at capacity indoors and didn't have any open tables outdoors, but let our group order drinks at a barrel outside with a few bar chairs while we waited. Honestly, we didn't mind because we were right in front of the tv watching the playoffs. Once a table indoors became available, they let us know right away. In addition to some strong drinks, we ordered the chicken tenders, fish and chips, and curry fries to share. Everything tasted great and not like typical frozen bar food. I personally thought service was pretty good. We were checked on every once in a while but not to the point where it was annoying. Also, everyone wore masks when walking around inside, which I really appreciated. Definitely see myself coming back! read more

Grace O'Malley's was a recent addition to the Grove Street neighborhood that we happened across the other day and decided to give it a try. The Irish pub had one of the larger outdoor seating areas among those on the block, so it really caught our attention. We were able to select the table of our choice and sat down to enjoy some beverages. My Aperol Spritz was more sweet than bitter, as it also included hibiscus liquor, a version of which I was not a fan. My boyfriend got into the spirit of the bar by ordering a Sullivan's Red Ale from Ireland, which was heavier than a brown ale, but lighter and less rich than a stout. It was rather delicious, but a tad filling. We did not order any food, but the menu offered a breadth of traditional Irish pub classics like Shepherd's Pie and Curry Fries. The service was friendly and plentiful in that there were multiple servers that would check in on us every few minutes, enabling us to enjoy our drinks and get our check in a timely manner.
