I was in town visiting my brother and he told me he was going to take me to the best gyro place in town. He was not kidding. He told me it was located inside a liquor store but not to let that fool me. This is one of the top selling gyro places in the area. There is a parking lot for the business. We were welcomed in and the owner, Dave, chatted with us while prepping our order. Note, this is a carry out only establishment. There were three spits of meat churning away. It smelled delicious in there. My brother recommended the King gyro. It comes with 1/2 pound of delicious gyro meat topped with shredded lettuce, red onion and diced tomato. The soft, warm pita is spread with tzatziki sauce for that tangy hit of cucumber. You can see the freshness as they were in the process of chopping more veg for toppings. Three big containers of diced tomato done and they were on to chopping red onions. The store itself has essence of Elvis everywhere in the decorations, even a life-sized replica. Every time i'm in the White Lake area on M-59 I make it a point to visit Graceland. Today we had the skinny Gyro (1/4LB) and its was amazing as always! The pita super soft and the gyro meat is always delicious, never dry! And they always add just the right amount of toppings and sauce to complement the gyro meat. The value for the dollar is great! The owner is always very friendly and that's another reason why i keep going back, they make you feel like you're old friends! I'm lucky I don't frequent the area or I'd be in trouble! It has been 13 years since I ate here. I always remembering my family driving 25 minutes to get gyros from here. They were that great! Years later I had the craving for their gyros and was surprised how great they still tasted. It is some of the best gyros around this area. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because the grape leaves were the driest thing I have ever had. I do not recommend unless you're ready to squeeze a ton of lemon on them. I popped into this spot for lunch with my sister, who was visiting from out of town and craving a top-notch gyro. As a regular, I knew what to expect. The owner, Dave, handled our order and whipped it up while prepping after the lunch rush. It took about 15 minutes, and soon we were on our way home to dig into our King Gyros--each loaded with a half-pound of gyro meat sliced fresh from one of the three spits spinning behind the counter, topped with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onions, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Saw an online review and discovered that this party store is close to my destination for a family visit. So we ordered take-out on a Friday night. Ready in 20 minutes! The skinny was plenty of food for me: tasty meats, soft pita bread and a good serving of tzaziki. So delicious! The baba ganoush was also really good -- smoked eggplant flavor really comes thru. Tabbouleh was okay. Chips just off the shelf but adequate for the dips. The falafel gyro could use more falafel, just based on the amount of meats in the other gyros. So good. I was extremely sad to leave great gyros/shwarma in the DC area but Graceland is the best place in the Northern Oakland County area for Mediterranean. I consistently get their gyros or bowl which has rotating meat shaved into whatever dish you choose every Friday. They're efficient and have a great selection of liquor or snacks. What an adorable gem! This place has been on our list for years and we finally actually stopped in and ordered some food. When you enter this tiny shop the first thing that hits you is the great smell of pizza baking! I love the Elvis memorabilia! While I am not the biggest Elvis fan, I have actually been to Graceland, Tupelo Ms, and to Vegas to see a plethora of Elvis artifacts. This place is adorable. They have a great selection of drinks and some yummy party store snacks packed in their tiny shop. While I do not purchase liquor, I liked how they had the tiny bottles out front with pricing for customers to take. If I were to get some, I would definitely come back here for those tiny bottles. But we were here to try their delicious food. First, the food is a great price. I like how they packages the sandwiches and labeled them clearly so we did not have to open they up to see whose belonged to who. They also got the order correct, which is a triumph. With picky people in the household I hate it when they put topping on that do not belong or forget toppings, or even prepare an item wrong. That does not work when you have kids and they get disappointed. The person helping us was very friendly and kind, it was a great experience. We got a deep dish cheese pizza. They were very generous with the cheese. The crust was fluffy and delicious and caramelized in the right spots. We also got a King gyro to split. It had ample meat. While it is stated on the menu they will not put veggies on the side, we wanted the sauce on the side and not on the wrap, which they did. The pita was soft and the meat was tasty. We also got two chicken shawarmas. It did come on the gyro pita. It was nice and garlicy. We wanted one with all of the toppings and one without. My pickiest child who never finished a sandwich ate the entire thing! So good. I look forward to coming back and getting more, perhaps even serving it to family for a get-together. Walked in store to purchase a couple things and noticed their Allocated bourbon counter. Nice selection, then saw the pricing. Asked why pricing was so high and the young man behind the counter instantly said No one's putting a gun to your head to buy it, you ever heard of supply and demand. We couldn't picture how a party store could have such amazing food but my husband heard Terry Foster, a former sports radio host, and Twitter personality, praising it. So, on this cold Friday night, we got gyro sandwiches and a greek salad -- take out. And it didn't disappoint. It's dark so the pictures don't do it justice. But we will be back. Probably soon.
