Sometimes when you're stoned you do the weirdest things and crave the weirdest stuff. I was scrolling on DoorDash for what felt like 67 years when I stumbled on Deep Purpl. Their menu literally screamed exactly what my munchies were demanding, so obviously I ordered everything. First up the Acai Bowl 20oz with banana, strawberry, kiwi, granola, organic honey, extra strawberries, and chia seeds. I am telling you this bowl changed me as a human. I had never had an Acai Bowl before and now I'm obsessed. Every fruit was fresher than fresh, the granola was a spiritual experience, and the balance of flavors was ridiculous. Then I got the PB Toast and I'm still asking myself why I hesitated to pay $6.99 for it. GAWD it was amazing. Crispy bread, peanut butter, banana, strawberries, blueberries, honey drizzle. The best $6.99 piece of toast I have ever had in my life. Because I clearly have no self-control I also grabbed the spinach and cheese empanada and malbec and beef empanada. No words. Everything was fantastic. Every single item was a joy to inhale and I will absolutely do it again. The DoorDash pick-up was super easy and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only minor gripe is they don't provide bags so I had to carry everything individually walking home, which was slightly annoying. But honestly the food, the vibes, and the experience? 10 out of 10. Will be back.

Yum! Acai is just the right amount of sweetness. I added banana, strawberry, blueberry, granola…read morealmond butter, and PB crumbs. Also added some blue chia pudding. Tasty, healthy, reasonable price. 24 oz was a meal along with a slice of the PB toast- sturdy piece of a whole grain bread topped with bananas, berries, and a touch of honey that was good (not too sweet). Recommend!

I ordered the Blue Banana smoothie, which has blue spirulina, açaí, banana, grass-fed whey protein, cashew butter, coconut butter & almond milk. Wow!! It's the best smoothie I've ever had. Everything just blended so well together and the texture was perfect. Lot of cold pressed juice, cleanses, smoothie, oatmeal, and bowl options. I look forward to trying more!

One of the things I love about coming here is the customer service because it's really great, especially from one of the really nice girls who works in the mornings on weekdays (I need to get her name and edit this review because she's so nice) and their oatmeal bowls are some of the best I've had and I'm pretty picky about my oatmeal. Another positive is they can do a 100% nut free smoothie because they have separate blenders for people that can't have nuts and I think that's amazing. I've seen places that mix nut and nut free in the same blenders and that's so dangerous / frustrating. I'll definitely continue coming here

With a cozy locals vibe, there was a mix of young professionals on laptops and families starting the morning. The bright aesethics of Mexican heritage and decor celebrating local artists make the space inspiring and energizing. The coffee was great. I got the horchata latte, which tasted even better than I hoped. I also ordered a El Chavo Torta, a deceptively simple sandwich that was incredibly delicious. I don't know what they put in the bread or what magical place they bought the cheese from, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. When I'm in Chicago again, La Malinche is on my list of must visit spots.

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

However, the reason for the bad review is that we got an acai bowl with multiple light colored hairs in it. (Mine and my husbands' hair colors are black). This is absolutely disgusting and deters me from wanting to order from here again. The photo shows the strand we initially found and there were multiple other strands that we found blended into the bowl. Absolutely unacceptable. Will not be ordering from here again.

I later learned to cook healthfully as a teenager, and have explored ethnic foods ever since. Raw foods such as fruits, veggies, juices, and salads remain favorites. So when I went to Chicago last summer, as I was walking back to my hotel from Millennium Park hot and exhausted, quenching my thirst and hunger simultaneously with something fresh was a priority. I had spotted Deep Purpl on the way. I love açai, and usually just purchase it in frozen packets or juice from the grocery store, so this was my first time trying an açai bowl at a shop. It was absolutely amazing, so much so that I ordered the same thing as a BOGO special from Uber the next day. I've been trying to find a local spot in VA that compares: not too sweet, quality ingredients nicely layered with almond butter as an option.

I was skeptical at first because it is a local chain, rather than a singular location. However, it lived up to the hype. Service: it was extremely busy when we came in. The line was almost out the door. They have a system in place for ordering and seating so it worked well and fast given how busy they were. We didn't have any questions on where to order or where to stand when waiting for a seat. The staff were friendly and helped us find a spot to sit at. Ambiance: classic cafe in a city. Loud chatter, but it's a vibe. Very colorful and fun interior with cool textural elements. We had a seat that was facing the street so it was fun to people watch as we sipped and ate. Food: amazing breakfast selection! We ordered the morning sandwich and barbacoa bowl. The morning sandwich had THICK scrambled eggs which were super soft and tasty. I could've used more salsa verde on it. The bread was barely toasted. I'd rate the sandwich a 3.8/5. It got the job done. The barbacoa bowl was "really good" according to my fiancé. A great source of protein, fresh ingredients, nice flavor, and great portions. He would rate it a 5/5. Coffee: I am a coffee snob so I am quite harsh when it comes to reviewing it. Their machine is a cute La Marzocco. Appropriate sized "for-here" glasses according to the drinks. Plus, they were really cute. Wide variety of drink selection from your standards to the more girly-drinks (if there is such a thing). We ordered a cappuccino and small hot mocha. Latte art 4.5/5, temperature 5/5, flavor 4/5. The espresso didn't stand out to me, very standard flavor profile. However, the chocolate in the mocha was delicious. It's more of a rich, dark chocolate. Nice thin layer of foam. Would recommend to try at least once when you're in Chicago! Glad to have stopped in.

The croissant wasn't filled, it just had pistachio cream on the top with a couple of nuts. I would order the shaksouka pastry again. The egg was cooked well, and the tomato was very good. They were supposed to heat it up, but it wasn't warm.
