Reviews With Photos - Gracie Barra Fullerton

We recently signed my 4 1/2 year old up at Gracie Barra Fullerton and have had such an amazing experience so far. He is a very high energy and strong willed boy and we have so far had a hard time finding a sport/activity that was right with him. He always loves to wrestle so we thought we'd try jiujitsu and he loves it! I really appreciated that we were able to do a trial class. The owner, Justin, was so helpful and prompt in communication. I love being able to get information through personable texting. He was very thorough, informative and helpful. There are a couple options for the younger kids and I must say that their classes are very well ran. For the most part the kids are very disciplined and there is plenty of help with the extra coaches. They've clearly got jiujitsu for little ones down to a science. We have only been going a few weeks now and my son has already learned so much from the simple and repetitive training. Can't wait to see how much more he learns. Their facility is also extremely clean.

    Saturday morning discipline.

For nearly one year we have been coming here 3x per week. The human has had an array of experiences within the safe confines of the mat and her coaches' watchful eyes. From overcoming fear and learning new techniques, to learning about both the positive and negative consequences of one's choices. As the parent of a high energy, and easily distracted child, it's very comforting to see the way the coaches interact with all the students. Blending skill levels to challenge those with higher ranks, while welcoming newcomers flawlessly demonstrates how talented the coaches are. My child is not only learning a new sport and creating bonds with her fellow classmates, but also learning the importance of dedication, character, and respect. All in all, I highly recommend this location for jui-jitsu training and everything else it has to offer. Big thank you to the Professor and coaches for their investment in my little one even when she gives you gray hairs!

I rarely write reviews... but this is actually my first time coming back to update one because my experience has been THAT good. Since becoming a student at Fullerton GB, I can honestly say joining was one of the best decisions I've made. Professor Justin and all of the coaches are next level not just amazing instructors, but genuinely great people who truly care about their students. The energy, the support, the growth... it's unreal. This academy has become a true second home for me and my family. If you've even been thinking about training, do yourself a favor and come check it out. You won't regret it

Part 2 - 10 Months Later and We Love It Even More After 10 months of training at Gracie Barra Fullerton, I can honestly say that everything I wrote in my original review still holds true--and if anything, our appreciation for this academy has only grown stronger. What started as something new for my family has become a huge part of our lives. My wife and kids absolutely love training here, and it's been incredible watching all of us grow together on the mats. The kids look forward to every class, my wife enjoys the challenge and support of the training environment, and for me it's become one of the best decisions we've made as a family. The coaching staff continues to be outstanding. Professor Justin, Coach Rudy, Coach Ruben, Coach Mike, Coach Vanessa, and Coach Christian are truly world-class instructors. They bring an amazing mix of knowledge, patience, and motivation to every class. Each of them genuinely cares about every student's progress and creates a learning environment where beginners feel comfortable and experienced students stay challenged. Their passion for teaching and dedication to the students is something special. Another thing that really stands out is how clean and well-maintained the academy is. The mats, training areas, and facility are always spotless. It's clear that a lot of pride goes into maintaining a professional and healthy training space, which makes a huge difference when you're training consistently. Most importantly, the culture and community at GB Fullerton are second to none. The environment is incredibly welcoming from day one. Everyone supports each other, and over time the relationships built on the mats turn into real friendships. It truly feels like being part of a family. New members are welcomed immediately, and before long you realize you're surrounded by people who genuinely want to see each other succeed. Ten months in, our family is more grateful than ever to be part of this community. If you're looking for a place to learn jiu-jitsu, get in shape, build confidence, and become part of an amazing team, Gracie Barra Fullerton is that place. We're excited to keep training and growing here for many years to come.

    Promotion!

As someone who trains jiu-jitsu and also has my daughter training, Gracie Barra Fullerton has been an incredible place for both of us. From the moment we started, everyone made us feel welcome. The atmosphere truly feels like a family where people support each other and want to see everyone improve. Seeing how much jiu-jitsu has helped my daughter's confidence has been amazing. The coaches are great with the kids and do an awesome job teaching discipline, respect, and self-belief while still keeping it fun for them. All of the coaches are fantastic, but Professor Justin really stands out. He's extremely knowledgeable, patient, and very detail-oriented with his instruction. You can tell he genuinely cares about every student and the culture he's building at the gym. Gracie Barra Fullerton is clean, well run, and full of great people. Training here with my daughter has been a great experience and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to start jiu-jitsu.

Gracie Barra Fullerton has been an amazing experience for my family. Both of my daughters and I train Jiu Jitsu here, and we couldn't be happier with the environment and instruction. From day one, the atmosphere has been extremely welcoming, positive, and family-oriented. The instructors are truly outstanding, they are patient, professional, and incredible with kids, while also providing high-level instruction for adults. They know how to motivate, build confidence, and make sure everyone is learning safely and effectively. I highly recommend Gracie Barra Fullerton to anyone looking for a top-tier Jiu Jitsu academy, whether for their children, themselves, or the entire family.

The owners, professors, and coaches have cultivated a superb gym culture. This gym is safe, friendly, and supportive. The facility is modern and clean, and they've invested in a foam block subfloor beneath the mats for softer landings. As far as I know, this is the only gym in the area that offers women-only classes four times per week and a bi-monthly community open mat for gentlemen 40 years and older. My kids train here after school 4-5 days a week, and they love it. The kids' professors and coaches are experienced and amazing teachers. I'm especially thankful for the young coaches who were so patient and kind to my boys when they were hesitant and shy after first starting. And my pocketbook is especially thankful for the discounted rates for additional family members. If you're looking for a place where the whole family can train, grow, and feel welcome, I can't recommend Teragi highly enough.

I've been to places where it seemed salesy or lacking authenticity. Teragi Academy is a place where they genuinely practice and instill jiu jitsu and its culture of honor and regard of others. The promotion of belts is carried out quarterly and only awarded based on merit. This is also something I greatly appreciate because I know many establishments that give out promotions for no reason at all. Since day one, the professors and coaches of this gym have been patient and meticulous in teaching techniques to the kids. Teragi has been instrumental in providing confidence as well as self awareness for my son. I've seen many of the other kids mature in their own ways for the past 2 years. It's always a wonder to see everyone come up together. For myself and my family, we seen so much growth and discipline in our boy. There's a comfort in knowing that our child is not left helpless and able to stand up himself as well as for others. I've been watching in the sidelines, two to three times a week, for the last 2 years. This is a program that provides a worthwhile experience. The benefit and journey is well worth the investment for anyone, young or old.

Bottom Line Up Front: I give this gym 5 out of 5 stars --…read moreand that says a lot because I've been training in martial arts since 1995 and am a certified instructor in multiple systems. But let me break it down as to why it gets my seal of approval. What You'll Learn: Rounders offers multiple martial arts: Boxing, Muay Thai (kickboxing), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kali (a Filipino knife-fighting system), and Mixed Martial Arts (which combines striking, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu). In the past they have also offered wrestling and Judo. So there's something for everyone. Regardless of what class you pick, you'll learn how to protect yourself while getting a great workout. What You'll Gain: Like I mentioned, you'll get a killer workout in a safe and fun environment. According to some studies, you could burn anywhere between 300 to 800 calories in a single 1-hour kickboxing class. It's far more efficient (and fun!) than running on a treadmill. And the added bonus is that you'll learn self-defense along the way. Who You'll Meet: From co-owner Joe Kim to all the other instructors, the coaches here are physically talented, knowledgeable, and easy-going despite being deadly warriors. They create a positive atmosphere so that everyone -- from brand new rookies to combat sports veterans -- has fun while learning. And that trickles down through to the students, who are all supportive and welcoming. The Space: The gym is medium-ish in size compared to other gyms in the area; enough to hold one large group or two smaller sessions at the same time. The equipment is top notch. And the workout space is well maintained. There's also a small section for weight training, too. The Cost: I've visited other gyms with outrageous prices (like $200 a month for only Jiu-Jitsu!). Fortunately, tuition here is reasonably priced -- with options to drop-in, go month-to-month, or commit to 6 months or a full year. (The latter two doesn't mean you have to pay upfront, just that you'll be charged automatically for your chosen time frame and save more over the long term.) And considering those options give you unlimited classes for all of the martial arts classes, Rounders is totally worth it. Conclusion: Rounders MMA Fullerton is an ideal gym to join, whether you're looking to lose weight, learn some self-defense, or just belong to a cool community who will encourage and grow with you.
