When she raised concerns, Katie explained volunteers only receive pamphlets, not hands-on training, due to limited funding. While budgets are tight, safety should still be a priority. What stood out most was the lack of accountability. Katie dismissed the situation, saying "it happens," and suggested our small dog may have caused it, which felt deflective. My sister was shaken and looking for reassurance and steps to prevent future incidents, but none were provided. The dog now wears a muzzle, raising further concerns about how situations are managed. While shelters face challenges, proper training and accountability are essential. Visitors should be cautious, especially with their own pets, how can they say they are for the community when you have workers having no empathy and laughing in your face.

I was trying to adopt after a recent loss of mine. All was well through adoption process an the staff was kind an helpful an quick. I was thrilled to be adopting an was so ready to have a new baby to give a home too. Unfortunately within days of her being with me she was clearly sick an that night her spay incision opened up an her guts where spilling. She was kept in an area with no high jumping an alone with everything she needed. An I know her cut did not looked properly sealed when I had gotten her to begin with. I've had to spend more then I have an rely on donation to help with her surgery an treatment on top of this I will now be having to take my other cat in because he managed to get her sickness only twice as bad. Im so disappointed an disgusted with this experience. Please still adopt just make sure your baby is safe to come home. Or take them to a vet right after for a check up.

They are a no kill animal rescue that advertise dogs, cats, and possibly other animals for adoption. My complaint is I reached out to them regarding a dog they had posted on Facebook to possibly adopt. We were denied an application because we did not live within an hour drive from Amarillo. They do physical in person only inspections of applicants home, fence, and shelter for the animal. I offered to send a video, offered references, offered my vets contact information and still they would not even allow me to complete an application. I thought the goal of a rescue shelter is to remove animals. I have had dogs and cats my whole life and probably taken better care of them than my family. I raised boxers for over 10 years amd sold puppies all over Texas and Oklahoma. I am heartbroken that they wouldn't even try to help us. Mike called, my daughter in law Aj Williams, called. They were finally very rude. If you donate to a shelter do NOT donate to this one!

While you could argue that this makes sense for large animals who need to be let out for exercise, small dogs can be taken out with a collar to use the rest room and even trained to go out in a yard. Additionally, they know that the highly adoptable pets are small dogs and go on the local dog pound website daily to reserve small dogs for adoption. This would make sense IF the dogs at the dog pound were available for adoption by pet owners until their scheduled kill-date and were only then saved by local rescues, but instead this prevents people living in apartments or duplexes from finding small dogs homes. It is tragic to see something as wonderful and loving as adopting a pet perverted into economic discrimination by a hateful, immoral agency like this one.

Stepping into the Don Harrington Discovery Center in Amarillo is like entering a wonderland of…read morescience--complete with roaring dinosaurs, swirling galaxies, and lasers that make you say, "Whoa, did that just happen?" The place buzzes with curiosity from the moment you walk in. I kicked things off in the Sun, Earth & Universe gallery, pressing buttons to trigger solar flares and playing with real-time space weather--instant brain tickles that felt both geeky and awesome . Then I zipped over to the Outdoor Science Park, where a life-size T‑Rex and Triceratops loomed over a fossil dig pit. Kids were scooping up "bones" while I dodged tennis balls flying from a launcher--science meets playground shenanigans . Later, I curled up in the cozy Treehouse Reading Nook, surrounded by bird chirps from the aviary above--a peaceful contrast to the chaos of color bombs and bouncing probes . The highlight, though? The Space Theater, a full‑dome planetarium that launched me from Earth to black holes in minutes--complete with dramatic music and enough stars to rival my ex's eyes . It's clear DHDC is more than a kids' museum--it's a playground for inquisitive minds of all ages. Traveling exhibits keep things fresh, and a recent "Beyond: Unity in Community" display even won a national award for celebrating Afghan culture . Educational programs, planetarium shows, story times, and even sci‑fi-style "KABOOM!" demos fill the calendar . By the end of my visit, my cheeks hurt from smiling, my head buzzed with fun facts, and I momentarily considered launching myself into orbit. Instead, I left with a grin, a handful of newfound cosmic trivia, and a plan to bring all my friends next time. Bottom line: Don Harrington Discovery Center is science with soul--equal parts spectacle and insight. Whether you're a kid, a curious adult, or just someone who likes lasers and dinosaurs (who doesn't?), this place throws the perfect brain party.

These kids are all troubled and there is no accountability for there actions. I had to find my daughter a counselor to meet with each week. She never met with a psychiatrist and we asked for that several times. The house parents and case workers are all very young and can't handle these kids with behavior problems. We are now getting our daughter the help she needs in a safe environment unlike any help she received from boys ranch. I know my daughter isn't the only child that they have failed either. shame on a place that advertises to help troubled youth when in return all that happened over 6 months was my daughter getting worse. Also taking my daughter to their dentist for a check up and saying she had 8 cavities when in fact she did not and that was confirmed by her dentist at home. I will be contacting the news, our state representatives, legislators, judges, anyone from the past that has been done wrong by this place as well as their donors.
