I went in for a terrible Kidney stone attack. I have had these before but the last one was 26 years ago...! They gave me Morphine...twice...and the pain was still there. Then they gave me dulatin which knocked the pain right out. For some reason, Grady has a problem getting Dulatin. They say there is a shortage. Ok, maybe for them, but later the same month, I had another attack and went to St. Anns. No problem with Dulatin there. Something is wrong here. But otherwise, the nurses at Grady were polite, pleasant and helpful. I truly suspect that the attitude they develop comes from always being around people who are sick and short-tempered because they are in pain and after a while, I suppose a person (nurse) gets tired of being talked to rudely and starts to take it out on the patient. However, I, no matter how much pain I am in, try to be polite and respectful of the staff. And I get polite and respectful service from them in return. Granted, if they didn't want to work with sick people, they should have studied to become something else, but still, human nature being what it is, we are now at the point in our society where short answers and slight rudeness are becoming the norms. However, I have to say Grady did take care of me with very little wasted time...I waited for a few hours sometimes, but never while writhing in pain. They did take care of my pain issues. I have been to Grady for the Kidney Stone, for a stroke, for a heart ablation AFIB surgical procedure, for CAT and MRI and MRA brain scans, for Stents in the heart arteries and By and Large, Grady and its Doctors, Nurses and Staff came through for me. Granted, it may not be Riverside or Mt. Carmel, but if I were to score it, it would fall in the low 90's percentile, and that is not bad. I am not sure if the Cleveland Clinic scores 100% all the time. That is my take on Grady. Overall, maybe not an A+ or an A, but certainly an A-. Thanks Grady! Bob L. Sunbury, Ohio read more

Regarding the ER. Ridiculous wait times, patients leaving without being seen. Today was not a banner day for Grady. Horrible experience.

After experiencing five gallbladder attacks in two weeks, I knew I needed surgery. From my initial consultation to recovery, Dr. Michael Cray and the OhioHealth team at Grady Memorial Hospital made this entire process feel calm, safe, and supported. My consult with Dr. Cray took place at Grady, located near downtown Delaware, OH. While the building's exterior is older, the inside was clean and similar to other OhioHealth facilities. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. Though Dr. Cray was delayed due to emergency surgery, he was extremely apologetic and kind -- a small gesture that went a long way. He thoroughly walked me through the risks and expectations of gallbladder removal and even offered referrals if I wanted a second opinion. I appreciated the transparency, but I knew I wanted to move forward with him right away. I scheduled my surgery that day and completed lab work closer to my surgical date. The lab experience was efficient -- I checked in digitally and was called back quickly. It took no more than 30 minutes. I appreciated that parking was easy and always available during each visit. On the day of surgery, my husband and I checked in and were directed to the surgical floor. The environment was calm and quiet. Beth, our check-in receptionist, greeted me by name and gave us a warm, friendly welcome. She showed me to my pre-op room where I met Heather, my pre-op nurse, who was fantastic. She walked me through every step: taking vitals, helping me change, administering the IV, and making sure I was warm and comfortable. The pre-op room was small but clean and had great natural light, which made a difference in easing nerves. My husband joined me before the surgery and stayed until I was taken to the OR. Dr. Cray, the anesthesiologist, and my surgical nurse all came by beforehand to explain the process and check in. Their calm, confident demeanor gave me peace of mind. In the OR, I was quickly prepped, given oxygen, and put under. The surgery lasted just under an hour. Waking up, I was emotional -- grateful and relieved everything had gone smoothly. I was moved to a post-op room where I reunited with my husband and was told the surgery was a success with no complications. The care team made sure I could walk, helped schedule my post-op appointment, and wheeled me out around 4:30 p.m. -- just in time to grab my prescriptions and dinner on the way home. Dr. Cray even honored my request to provide a printed photo of my gallbladder from surgery -- a small but meaningful keepsake that reminded me of how far I've come and the power of modern medicine. I'm now recovering with minimal pain and following instructions to avoid lifting and strenuous activity for a few weeks. I've had some sensitivity in my abdomen, but overall, things are progressing well. I plan to look into a support band, but for now, a pillow does the job. Overall, I can't recommend Dr. Cray and the team at Grady Memorial Hospital enough. From consult to post-op, every person I interacted with was professional, kind, and made me feel genuinely cared for. While some small aesthetic updates to the facility would enhance comfort (e.g., replacing worn drawers, furniture or floors), the quality of care more than made up for it. If you're considering gallbladder removal, I highly recommend trusting Dr. Cray and the OhioHealth/Grady Memorial team with your care. Their skill, communication, and bedside manner turned what could have been a stressful experience into something empowering and positive. read more

01/2024 Went to the ER here. Got there about 7:30 pm got an EKG and IV done more or less right away. I then sat there for the next 7 hours where nothing was done. So 7 hours of waiting for an 1.5 hrs of care (crap care at that) came out to $3200. Next time I will ignore the time is muscle crap and drive to Dayton. Will not be back to this hospital by choice. My husband's Dr. told him to go to the ER for a CT scan because he was having pain on his lower right side and his White Blood Cell ct was very high. She thought maybe it was appendicitis. Went in by squad on Christmas day/evening. Sicker than I had ever been in my life! Waited for a long, long time-feeling like I was going to pass out. I have a serious/potentially deadly infection in my foot and they did not even look at it or remove the bandage. After hours of waiting they said I had low potassium, and a UTI, and an anxiety attack. An anxiety attack?- MY BODY WAS RESPONDING TO THE MASSIVE INFECTION I HAD! I was sweating profusely and opened the door to get air and so someone could see me if i fainted. To make it even better- the attending physician Dr. Hill was loudly fighting in the hall with the charge nurse. When I went to the entrance of my door ad said that was ridiculous that there was sick people here, they closed my door quickly discharged me. I should be on IV antibiotics right now- but they wanted me out of there. Dr Hill was gone when I was discharged and the place was being run by a nurse practicioner. read more

Cardiac Care. My husband and I were visiting our family in the area. He began to experience rapid heart rate. When we arrived at the ER they had a team waiting for him. Everyone was prompt and quick to began tests. And treatment. He was transferred to Columbus the next evening where they continued further testing and quickly confirmed his diagnosis and were able to correct his Aflutter and release him on Thursday. Everyone was pleasant, thorough and helpful in making our stay comfortable and stress free. read more

Second time in a month I am in here!! At least this time it was scheduled. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff, the housekeeping staff are a so friendly and honestly wanting to help!!! Both Caroline and Gage from housekeeping are really nice people with a friendly smile and a warm greeting. All of the nursing staff are genuinely so friendly and kind, I could mention some but I would hate to miss anybody. Oh yes, and if you should be there around lunchtime, get the hamburger/cheeseburger!!!!! A real treat!! Not machine formed patties, these puppies are real burgers!!!!! They are delicious. Feel bad that some people have had a bad experience, but so many had what we did, great service from a very nice friendly, clean hospital. read more

I hope to never visit Grady again! Had a 10-15 minute surgery and then came down with covid a few days later. I have been extremely ill, and called and spoke to a nurse. She basically said, oh well, everyone's got covid. I never saw anyone clean their hands or wear a mask while I was there. Aren't you supposed to wash your hands before you operate on someone? There is a reason this place is called "Shady Grady" they are absolutely awful! You can be the first on in the ER and can't breath and your still won't see a doctor till almost 4 hours later. Not to mention the staff is very rude and don't seem to care for anyone's well being. They also love to Gossip while your in server pain and get up to see why you haven't seen anyone for over a hour and see nurses and a couple doctors talking about there family issues. Iv also have been miss diagnosed, luckily I got a second opinion. So if you're in an emergency situation I'd say avoid this place! read more

I have been in and out of the hospital 3 times in the past week. Each time, they sent me home with out a diagnosis. Then I decided to change hospitals and gave Grady Memorial a shot. I AM SO GLAD I DID! They saved my life. They found blood clots in my lungs that other ER docs couldn't see or be bothered by an extra test. Well that extra test saved my life and I'll always be grateful for this hospital! read more

This hospital has a vast amount of lawsuits against it for its endless act of malpractice. In fact I went to Grady in December of 2007 after falling in my shower and waited for what seemed like forever to get a cat scan. After looking over my cat scan I was told everything was okay and that my head would just hurt for a few days and I would have headaches. The next morning Grady was bombing my phone and telling me I needed to go back to the hospital immediately and that they had found an abnormality in my cat scan. Why did they not see this the previous night before sending me home? I easily could have died in my sleep because my brain had hemorrhaged in my left frontal lobe. I ended up having to be life flighted to Riverside Hospital where they took care of me as people in the medical field should. If I had faced any life threatening side effects I would have gladly sued Grady but I probably would be dead before it was handled anyways. Steer clear from this place if you cherish your life. read more

My oncologist sent me to the ER because of droopy eyelid. She called ahead with her expectations (complete analysis and brain MRI). After 6 hours, I was discharged without any exam of the eyes and the paperwork stated the reason for my visit was fever...OMG! read more

Good for having healthy babies close to home, but be mindful the NICU is only available via childrens hospital squad. Have had awful waiting period trying to get into ER at times, and other times have gotten right in, so the ER can be a toss up. read more

I don't think I have enough great things to say about the Maternity ward here at Grady Memorial. My sister delivered on October 22, 2013. We are so pleased with the services she received from her physician and the nursing staff. They were fantastic and gave my sister and her husband a very positive birthing experience. My only complaints are, 1). The cafeteria closes for the day at 1:45 PM. This was not OK with us, and 2). I rarely saw the nursing staff wash their hands. Hand sanitizers are just fine and dandy, but it really impresses me when people wash their hands. read more

Had to use the emergency room at Ohio Health's Grady Hospital on a Friday afternoon. I had fallen and fractured my thumb. I was in and out in under 2 hours. They took me in immediately, no problems with my insurance from Virginia, bedside registration, something for the pain, a tv and very friendly staff. That was a great experience! Really, pain meds or not, they treated me wonderfully, took time to listen to problem, gave me a cd of my xray to take to my doctor at home, everything. I can't say enough about how great this place was. My exeriences with the emergency room and urgent care in Warrenton, Va ( see other review) leave a lot to be desired, not so with Ohio Health! This is an absolute joke for a hospital. If ur in need of medical treatment do not go to Grady memorial hospital go to mnt Carmel or saint Anne's. My brother went in with a collapsed lung and was registered and brought back for vitals and then was sent back out to the waiting room for an hour and a half waiting to be brought back so got up and went to mnt Carmel where he got brought right back and had emergency surgery done. How dare they sit and act like they are a hospital when they treat their patients lives like they are a joke but want paid the big bucks!!!!! This facility is excellent except for the limited equipment it has on site. It is a part of a larger corporation, Ohio Health, which is the buffer for the lack of equipment not located on site. If the staff cannot help you because of the lack of equipment, they immediately refer you to the larger hospital in nearby Columbus where your care is equally covered by an experienced and able staff. However, if the hospital can treat you, the staff, from Chief Surgeon to the janitor, do it in a professional practical and efficient manner. Rarely will a patient find a staff member who isn't completely committed to the patient's interests. Since this is a small town facility, it is not one to be used by a person with an attitude. If you have an attitude when you go there for treatment, you are likely to be treated at arms length but still with efficiency and effectiveness. I have used their Cardiac Rehab services and was treated by a caring and professional staff who were friendly and personable more than one would expect. I am scheduled for Physical Therapy following knee surgery and I expect similar care and professional assistance as I have received before from Grady. For a small town Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital is clearly a five star experience, the negative reviews above notwithstanding. I am an attorney in private practice, and, contrary to the comments of others, Grady is not a party to "a vast number of lawsuits" as claimed by an apparently disgruntled patient quite obviously with an attitude. I cannot say one using Grady's facilities could do better in seeking health assistance. But, I can assure you they could do a lot worse. read more

I hate hospitals. I just find them terrifying. But I have had to visit Grady twice in the last couple of months and I feel strongly that I should leave this review. I have NEVER been to a hospital with nicer staff! Everyone I have met there is so warm and welcoming! They go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. Years ago, I used to hear bad things about this hospital. But my experience from the people at the front desk to the radiology staff has been phenomenal. I no longer feel terrified of hospitals and I owe it to the staff of Grady Memorial Hospital. Thank you! read more

I have had 2 babies at Grady and have been there for one operation and have had family there for surgery and we have always had a great experience. In 202 I had a vey bad fall down some icy steps and in 2010 was rear ended been ahving very servere pain ever since. Well I went to Grady Hospital on 7-25-11 and I was rushed right in also, and I had informed them that I had no insurance. I went cause of an acute back pain. the Dr. barely even touched me and would not even do an exray. Was told by the Dr. that I was just going to have to deal with and that everyone has back pain even she did. She prescribed pian and inflammation meds. Her exam took 2-3 mins. I will never go back and will not recommend anyone. read more

Only one star goes to the kind ER nurse that checked me in. After that, NO STARS. Put in a room with a door so they could forget about me and that's exactly what they did. 1 1/2 hours later I had been left totally alone and talked myself out of being there. Called the desk to let them know I would like to leave. Nurse Nasty came to my room with hand on hip and other hand on doorknob informing me they can't hold me. I asked for my BP to be taken again as it was VERY high at check-in and she said NO. So I got my coat and asked how to get out. She was more than happy to see me leave. She can now sit on her butt longer. I don't know if they were busy, I understand busy. But to be treated in such an indescribable rude manner is like a bad dream. Experiences like this with these small town hospitals keeps me going to a real hospital like Riverside. I will drive straight past this place if I need an ER. read more

I'm a patient of The Women's Health Clinic inside Grady Memorial Hospital. I was just seen yesterday Nov.12th, 2012 and let's just say that was my worse experience ever being seen by a doctor that I've never had, never met, or have never seen inside the clinic. I'm 29 weeks pregnant and when she walked into my room for my appointment she approached me in an uncomfortable way and I didn't like it one bit. I have had to travel to Grady Memorial Hospital and Dublin Methodist to get a second opinion on my migraines that I've been having and because Grady was the first place I went to to get them checked out I wanted the second opinion from Dublin Methodist. She asked me about those and got onto me about the doctors giving me the medication that they prescribed. Well first off I'm not the doctor and second why can't she take it up with those doctors before getting rude with me when I have no control over what they give me. I haven't taken any of the medication until I see my actual regular doctor in there. Also yes I'll be honest I have gained weight in the past two weeks from my last appointment and the way she approached me about that was very rude and bad bed side manners. She basically yelled at me about it. I don't take too well with people like that because first off I'm 29 weeks pregnant almost about to have my baby soon and she doesn't think I will gain weight when only the baby is getting bigger. I mean come on she even told me it's not healthy for the baby when he's getting big I can't help that the baby is growing so big and healthy cause she checked the heartbeat of the baby and was perfectly normal and healthy. Due to her not having bed side manners, I don't want her to be my doctor when I go in on Nov. 28th. I'm going to request that I am seen by my doctor and if I can't then they'll just have to reschedule me for another time. I have the right to choose. I just don't want someone else to have to go through what I went through that was horrible for me and didn't help my self esteem what so ever. read more

I had occasion to use the ER last Sunday, 9-11-11, after being attacked by 3 dogs. The reason I went was to stop the bleeding and get the wounds cleaned up. I was told to wash my hands with a certain soap (provided) and to put pressure on all 6 wounds with gauze pads. I did the best I could, the doctor came in and said the wounds were superficial. A nurse applied an ointment, and put 6 bandaids on the wounds. I got in my car to drive 96 miles south to my home. I was about 15-20 minutes from the hospital and one bandaid came off, and 3 others were bleeding through. I made it home and then had to go to a 2nd ER, where the bleeding was controlled, and a hand wrap was put on. The treatment was totally unacceptable. read more

DO NOT FOR ANY REASON EVER GO TO Grady Memorial Hospital's OUTPATIENT PAIN MANAGEMENT,located at 801 Ohio Health Blvd, Delaware, OH. I am permanently and totally disabled, on Social Security, if you are suffering, do not go to threaty. To whom it may concern. I have titanium in my neck at C-5 and C-6, with a disc compression that has made my disc compressed permanently (last 7 years) to a 0.09 Nm/deg GRS, 21.9% TR. I also have permanent disc compression at S1, L1, L2, which is also covered by titanium plate and screws somewhat similar to the disc compression in my neck, I also have spinal cord ""documented" damage at L3 L4 and L5 which again is covered by titanium, no outter bone in any of these areas. I have had 4 sets 3 epidurals, a total of 12 epidural injections over the last 9 years. 1 neck surgeries and have had 3 back surgeries in the same area causing additional inner scar tissue chronic pain/ and 1 neck surgeries. I been on medication because of the severe pain I have been in for some time now, my presription were no where near any limits of any regularly prescribed the majority of pain management and pain control. My medicine was instructed to be given to me by a very Professinal Anesthesiologist. My Primary Dr stated to me they were opening a new pain clinic in the area in the same building where his new office is located, I have been seeing Dr Casey and the Anesthesiologist for going on two years at this time, So I did what my Dr stated was an option and tried 1 visit at this "so called" new pain management which as of today 1/16/2013 was opened in the same building. The DO Dr. whcih I seen by taking my Drs advice at this new pain management was Ripal A. Parikh. I have contacted an attorney against this Dr. I have never sued or had such a problem with a Dr anywhere. have never met in my life a Dr as incompetent as the Dr at the Grady Memorial Hospital's OUTPATIENT PAIN MANAGEMENT My meds were ending that day that I had recieved for the previous month up to that time. My personal primary Dr made the mistake of referring me to the Grady Memorial Hospital's OUTPATIENT PAIN MANAGEMENT So I went and seen Ripal A. Parikh as Dr Casey stated for me to do and it was the worse Dr Visit I have ever been to in my life. This person Ripal A. Parikh is the most incompetent unprofessional alleged Dr that I have ever seen. I am a 54 year old Honorably Discharged Veteran, I am a singe Father, in other words I am a very responsible person and citizen of our State of Ohio. My point in leaving this message is, if the website has the courage to actually post it, I am sincerely hoping to tell ALL PEOPLE with any spinal cord damage to never ever go to this DR for their own safety and their sake, he did not have any knowledge by reading my file which was right in front of him. He actually stated to be, I dont see any Spinal cord injury and do not understand why Dr Casey or any of the Anesthesiologist or Neurosurgeon told you that you had any damage. I have posted my surgeries and just a little about my spinal cord problems above which are not the only injuries I have. My point is, do not see this man, go either to a professional reputable Anesthesiologist if you have any pain resulting from spinal cord damage. He only looked at one paper in my file, and that paper had not one of my spinal cord injuries listed or the Rheumatoid arthritis I now have in my spinal cord and color bone and left shoulder. Never but never go to the Grady Memorial Pain Management on Ohio Health Blvd in Delaware OH where the incompetent ""Ripal A. Parikh"".who is not even an Md but an DO, also take the time to find a good Dr who cares about the people he sees. This man ""Ripal A. Parikh"".actually could cause your death with his misadiagnosing your injuries. I have contacted Veterans I know personally and other groups I belong to explaining this, I hope you who read this honestly take head, because i have taken the time to type it for you. I fired him on the very first visit and never went back. Do not make the mistake of going the first time if you have any kind of spinal cord problems. My entire statement above is my opinionated "facts" I have contacted an attorney as I stated, this Dr could have cost me my life. Good Luck all read more

I will never go back to this hospital. I went to the ER in the evening because I had infection in the left side of my face around my jaw line because of an infected wisdom tooth. I had previously been given antibiotics for it by the little clinic at Kroger but they were not getting rid of the infection and I was now running a fever. So I get to the ER , and the nurse typing in all my info was extremely cold and had a rude undertone. She asked me twice if I had seen a dentist and I told her not yet. I just needed to get the infection under control because I was concerned it was spreading. So she takes me back to a room and in walk two med students a minute later. The guy just kept staring at me most of the time as if he was perplexed as to why I was there. The girl had a cocky undertone and hardly acknowledged me. Then the guy student told me that he didn't see any swelling on my face, didn't feel anything swollen on my neck and that his wisdom teeth cause him problems but it's never serious. So basically he was trying to say that I was a liar and that my problem isn't that serious. He took my temp which was 99.00 when the other nurse took it a few minutes ago, but his thermometer read 98.4. I told him there was no way that was accurate and he just gave me more uncomfortable stares. They again questioned me if I had talked to a dentist yet, I told them I didn't have one but was seeking an oral surgeon and that I just wanted to get the infection under control. Finally the doctor walks in, my husband almost had to force a handshake from him or any kind of greeting. Then he walked over to me and just stared at me. No friendly greeting, no show of concern at all. Just a lifeless stare, and a half cocked examination. But then there was that question again..."have I talked to my dentist." And for the 10th time it seemed like I had to explain again that I was just trying to get the infection under control. And no, they were not busy that day either. It just seemed like I was inconvenience them for being there instead of a dentist. I knew I needed to see a dentist, I wasn't there so they could work on my teeth. So the doctor told me he could put me on clindamycin but it would be expensive. And he gave me this smug little sad face and told me he didn't know when I asked how much it was. My husband chimed in and told him that we had insurance so don't worry about the cost. The doctor acted surprised that we had insurance. And then it dawned on me...oh, they are profiling us because we are a young mixed couple and we don't look rich. By that point I was ready to get the heck out of there. So the doctor gave me my prescription didn't explain that I needed to keep taking my other antibiotic along with the one he gave me. Didn't explain that I couldn't lie flat for 10 min after taking it. He just assumed I would find this all out for myself. As we walked out of the room, we saw him sitting at his desk with his feet up just chatting with the other staff. I just rolled my eyes and walked out with my husband. Needless to say, I won't be back. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. read more
