It may be pricier than Safeway but for the convenience factor, we didn't find it to be too expensive. Over our 2-day visit to Santa Cruz we stopped in a few times to buy bottled waters, milk, muscle milk, bananas, and a bottle of wine.

We let the cashier know that we were in need of a bottle of Henny and he immediately walked off to his left and opened up a mini freezer filled with an assortment of liquid gold & bags of ice. Brown short hair, clean shaven, kind of slim, maybe 5'10", in his 20s or 30s. Both times he said, with a totally straight face: $20 for the lotto (which was actually $1 if you recall), and then whatever the price of the drink was. And quickly doing the math in his head, he verbally added $19 dollars to the grand total without missing a beat. When I looked at the register seeing the real total (which of course was $19 less than what he said), he deadpanned "just kidding". He did this exact same thing to me two different times in the span of a couple weeks. Seems very sketchy. Benefit of the doubt: I suppose he really could've been "just kidding", but if so, not funny at all and pretty poor taste to be trying that joke on paying customers that you don't know. The sandwich was wrapped in a couple layers of paper and foil and the au jus was first wrapped in plastic food wrap in case of a leak and then wrapped in foil to keep the heat in. Both the sandwich and au jus were nice and warm and the sandwich was absolutely amazing. Great job guys, I was expecting a problem and ended up having an awesome lunch.
