We had a positive experience here. Beach Liquors is conveniently located across the street from the Pier, Cowell's Beach, and the Boardwalk area. It was just a block down the hill from our hotel. It's a compact liquor and convenience store - think beer, wine, spirits, non-alcoholic cold beverages, and chips/snacks. It may be pricier than Safeway but for the convenience factor, we didn't find it to be too expensive. Over our 2-day visit to Santa Cruz we stopped in a few times to buy bottled waters, milk, muscle milk, bananas, and a bottle of wine. read more

Location is literally right across the street from the SC Beach boardwalk . The store is really tiny but it has all you need if you forgot something from home . Friendly cashier. Parking is up a few spots I think it's private lot on top or you could just walk here. Lifesaver if you need like ice cubes or water and snacks. read more

horrible experience here. I was here over a year ago, but couldn't remember the name of the place until I came across old photos. The white surfer employee grumpy dude was extremely rude because I accidentally got in his way when he was moving stuff around. Manager needs to hire older people with more experience. Staff acts entitled and rude. I came in with a dmv issued ID (signed as well), my credit card and another photo ID since my wallet got stolen. I just wanted to get a few drinks but was denied. One of the guys also said that he couldn't allow it because I could be working with the government (I came in with a bikini and flannel which is truly hilarious if I was government and tried something like that). Also previously on the boardwalk I had already purchased alcohol there and they were fine with it but this place and staff are stuck up. Only went here because I wanted something stronger in terms of liquor since the boardwalk offers sweeter drinks. The review about expecting a convenience place to be rude is super weird to me. This place was shady. The owner didn't want to sell me the alcohol I wanted when I originally went into but told me to buy another alcohol to help his store. He didn't ask for the ID of everyone in my party on my first time in. I went in later with the same people and he refused service because we didn't all have IDs, tell me how that makes sense. Then he refused service to our friends who came in after to purchase the alcohol. This company is shady, and unprofessional. How do you ask for IDs one time and not the other? Don't support this business and find another convenient store to support because this is another example of white supremacy. read more

This place is located on Beach Street, almost directly across from the entrance of the Santa Cruz Pier. Let me start by saying that everything in this store is overpriced, the cashier/owner was very rude. I went into this place to grab a few last minute supplies for a picnic on the beach. The prices were double to triple that of any other local stores. I guess if you are desperate and need something quick this place is ok. Very fancy selection of beers. I came here in the Summer just to buy beer to drink at the beach with some friends. We swam in the dirty beach and walked across the street to this store in our bathing suits and bought a bunch of different beers. Rude ass employees went in to grab a few snacks 5:15 Sunday the 1st of May! Located on the other side of the tracks, Beach Liquors is a small overpriced liquor store with minimal selections. It's expensive because tourists will buy alcohol regardless of price. It's small because there's no selection and there's no selection because it's small. This place truly sucks. The cashier also seemed grumpy. He acted civil towards us, however, the stench of asshole was overwhelming. This is probably the worst beer store in Santa Cruz. That became evident after only one visit. read more

Dropped my wallet and didn't notice while putting drinks into my backpack for free concert in beach. I realized several hours later. Someone picked it up and gave it to very nice young men who were working there. They were super polite with my first interaction. Then later that night when I called they had my wallet with all credit cards and cash etc. Very cool - thanks guys!!! read more
