I've been here 15+ times, and would summarize it as: Pro's: - Sunday Brunch is excellent! Great selection and value, and our top choice in the area. - Wings are some of the best around. Consistently FANTASTIC! - Burgers are very good. - Decent selection on the menu, really something for everyone. - Outdoor seating / bar area is really nice, heated in the winter, and generally a very nice area. - Clean space, well maintained. Con's: - Mixed Drinks are New York City prices, and that's a big turn off when going out for drinks with friends and family. This place would double their bar business if the prices were comparable to establishments in the Bear area. They just are not. I'll have 1 drink, at most, and that's all because of the high price. - Bathroom is well maintained, but VERY limited capacity. When this place is crowded, it's an issue, especially when they have a band. read more

2 stars for the staff that recognized and rectified our not so good experiences here. I could accept and get passed a lot if their food and drinks were priced accordingly. Sticker shock all the way around for subpar food and average drinks. They really milk the "waterfront" experience here, even if you're looking at a mossy pond in the middle of the woods. The menu is huge and probably a bit out of reach for the cooks, it was obvious that they're struggling to keep up, especially during brunch. I've been here multiple times in the past and only recently have been surprised by the poor service, but today's service was well below acceptable. I was not drinking (actually, never even received a water). We arrived at 1100am, no crowd, many open table in the upper and lower areas and no one waiting to be seat, but: 1) they would not seat our party of 8 despite the fact that we had 6 of the people there by 1110am. 2) We told them that one of our group members was diabetic and had taken her insulin already seeing that there was no wait and expecting to be seated as any other restaurant would have done. 3) Finally, around 1130, they said that they would seat us without the last two in our party, but tried to give us a 4 top for 6 people even knowing that the last 2 would be there in about 5 minutes. We had to let them know that a 4 top was not acceptable. 4)As we told them, the last 2 of our party arrived within 5 minutes. At that point, we let them know that they were there and we would rearrange the table back for them. They had to go ask someone and returned telling us that we had to fit all 8 at the 6 top and pulled chairs up for us. (Still, no one waiting to be seated and many open tables). 5) Once our last 2 were seated, we had been waiting for another 10 minutes at this point and asked for a server, since we still had not seen one. 6)As mentioned, open tables throughout the entire outside area. There was a six top facing the water and in other areas, some 4 tops, and 2 tops in all areas as well. We were seated on the lower level not facing the water in the "parking lot" area without a view. 7)It was hot 80 degrees and sunny. The server finally arrived and we placed our entire order around 1145. 8) We saw them putting umbrellas up for almost all of the other tables. We asked for one. The said that they had to go ask. They came back, again, denied. They said that they did not have anymore umbrella stands, so we could not have one. I went around and checked...there were a few umbrellas that they had just placed at tables that did not have patrons and, at least, one stand under another that did not have a patron. 9)Around 1155, we asked again for waters, but was just told they would find our server, (remember its sunny 80 degrees and now have been waiting for about 50-55 minutes total), so one of our party went to the bar to get waters and some drinks, but was denied yet again telling him that the bar doesn't serve seated guests. What????? 10)By 1200 noon in the hot sun without an umbrella, we still did not have our waters. I decided that this was just unacceptable and said my goodbyes to my friends. 11) The 3 young hostess ladies gasped when they heard me and agitated said, "really?" I just replied matter-of-factly, "It's hot, we still don't have our waters, and you wouldn't give us an umbrella." I will not be back. Neither will the 8 in our party. I understand that each review is a snapshot of that persons experience, but usually with this many reviews you get a pretty good feel of a place. This was not the case with this restaurant. We arrived by bicycle on a Saturday, as the mike castle/Ben Cardin trail goes right by the restaurant/marina. A beautiful day, we wanted a table in the sun and were given a choice of a high top or table. We were greeted by our server Matt in a timely manner. He brought to my attention that the brunch menu was two pages, which i was thrilled about as I was looking for a lunch option rather than breakfast. The service this day with this server was excellent.We got drinks and ordered. I ordered the citrus salad with grilled chicken. I asked if the fried goat cheese could be not fried, and he said it could be or he would have it substituted with feta. Nothing seemed to be a problem. The meals were great. The salad was a perfect lunch size and the dressing was very masterful. The chips are made in house and they were fantastic. The deck is perfect for Covid and the only thing I can say that could be improved is the restrooms which when I was there could have used a spruce up. Other than that, don't let the lousy rating stop you. Expect to pay a little more for the ambiance. read more

This location has a lot of potential but the current management can't get their act together. I've eaten here with my fiance four times and it's missed the mark each time. Most recently we waited about 30 minutes to get a drink at our table, our appetizer never came out and we were charged for a side of mayo which also didn't come out. First time sitting outside with the family. Host explained they didn't have any crayons for the children's menu (which clearly has activities and stuff to keep the kids occupied). Their suggestion was to ask our server for an extra pen for our 2 year old to use. No children's cups with lids in stock. Doesn't seem like a kid friendly restaurant? Or they need to do better at resupplying. Food was just ok - kids corn dog meal had cooked too long and the breading was burnt. Taco was just brisket topped with a crema (no salsa or slaw of any type) with a side of tortilla chips. Truffle fries were good. Brisket grilled cheese was a hit with my husband. I've waited a long time to post this review. I wanted to make sure there was adequate time for the kinks to be worked out. We love Grain in Newark and were beyond thrilled when there was going to be one opened closer to us. It's up high next to the water in the Summit North Marina. We had tried Aqua Sol, the restaurant that was previously in this location and like Grain H2O better. We've been here many times since they opened. In the beginning it was clear they were struggling with the restaurants popularity and chose to give it a few months until they moved off of the limited opening menu and offered the items that we favorite. Those initial issues seem to have resolved and for the most part service and food is solid. They've made some menu changes and some of the items are gone but I am hoping that it's a seasonal rotation. We loved their tater tots but they are off now. Their OMG pretzel is fantastic. My husband loves their chicken nachos and my son their Turkey Burger. If my MIL comes to visit I'm dying to have her try the Impossible Burger (meat free) that people rave about. Their beer list is excellent and I love love love their Charleston Punch (when they have mint). They have music many times a week and we have a friend that occasionally plays here. Truly a treat. The only real issue is when they have live music inside. We ask to sit as far away as possible but it's still really loud. It's not a deal breaker but we would much rather sit outside in the open. Overall it's worth a visit and you decide if you like it. It's in our rotation. read more

Can not believe this place has the same ownership group as Grain on Main St. Two totally different experiences. Last 2 times I have come here, the food and service has been lousy. Gave it one more try, as we had a gift card and this location is closer to home. 3rd strike tonight...Crab Nachos barely had any crab in them. Crispy Brussel Sprouts were not crispy at all. When I asked about why they were not crispy this time, I was told the style of preparation had changed in November. No offer to remedy the issue. Wife's brie and pear grilled cheese was barely even melted and the bread was barely toasted. Truffle fries were soggy and soaked in truffle oil. Ordered tater tots as an appetizer...never arrived. Oh and this lovely experience cost well over 100.00. Steer clear of this place and go the Chesapeake City instead. Ending on a positive note...the drinks were good and arrived quickly. read more

Six of us came from Maryland to enjoy drinks and seafood on the water. Most of the drinks were good but very very pricey, sangria was absolutely awful. Ordered food, at this point our waitress was awesome. Food came out in a decent amount of time, but one person in our party never got their food. Our waitress didn't bring our food, it was run by someone else. We didn't see our waitress for a long time after so 5 of us sat there not eating while our friend waited for her food. Finally waitress comes over and says that another server took the meal and our friends would be out shortly. Our friend waited so long to get her food, we were sharing our food with her so we could all eat. 3 people got the crab cake sandwich and we all took a few bites and agreed it was not very good at all. House made chips that came with it were bland too. To sum it all up, friend who didn't get their food had to wait very long to finally get it. The rest of our group had been done a long time at this point. Asked waitress for multiple refills and other drinks that she never brought, asked her for a box for someone's leftovers and she never brought it back, said she would take the forgotten meal off of the bill but never did and we had to wait even longer to see her again to get it fixed. The service just sucked. Our waitress just left us and we would see her checking on other groups often to refill their drinks and bring them more beers. Terrible time, mostly just waiting and getting bit by mosquitos. read more

Great location, great atmosphere! Drinks are ok - not great, and slightly overpriced. Stay away from their specialized house cocktails - they are watered down. Probably best to stick to beer - they can't mess that up. Entertainment was ok and there are plenty of activities - corn hole, tic tac toe, and other games. Fun place to hang out and drink. Food is mediocre at best. Stay away from anything that needs to be cooked to a specific temperature - everything comes out medium well to well done. Probably best to stick to appetizers as they seam to be somewhat acceptable. The service was ok. Server forgot to bring my second beer, and food was delivered without napkins or utensils - had to ask a bus boy for these. My sons cheese steak was ok. My burger was ordered medium rare and came well done. They offered to re-do it, but I did not want to wait another 15-20 minutes for another burger - which would probably be done the same way. No other offer for compensation was offered. It appears from the other reviews, with better management and more attention to detail, this place could easily be a 5 star experience. read more

We were camping down the road at the Lums Pond State Park Campground with friends and decided to give this place a try. Despite all of the complaints I have read, we actually had a great time. Plus our waitress was great, very friendly and we never waited for drinks. Now, however, it was a beautiful Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 or 3, so it was pretty quiet at that time. But it was soon filling up around 4:30pm. I got the steamed shrimp and then the Springtime Penne. I loved them both, but the shrimp was the best. Although I was thrown off a bit when she showed up with peeled and cleaned shrimp in a butter/garlic sauce. I was expecting the "peel and eat" style I guess when I saw the title of "Steamed Shrimp". So that was MY fault for assuming. But I was happily surprised because they were amazing! I'll get them again all day long! The Penne also was terrific. Hubby got the Braised Short Ribs over grits. He loved it. Our friends got the Crab Pretzel and the BBQ wings. He got them for the appetizer and liked them so much that he got them again for his main dish. They were very saucy and wet, but delicious. Overall, we all four had a really pleasant, nice time and will go back again. read more

I was disappointed - On a Friday day night, we went to Grain and was greeted and seated inside as we requested. We waited 38 minutes and no server, another fuel stops over and said Mary hasn't came over yet and gave us water. She said I'll get Mary. We waited another 30 minutes and no one returned. At that point, we decided to leave. The girl who gave us water says oh, she never came and proceeded to resume her conversation with her other servers at the bar. read more

AWFUL EXPERIENCE! I want to love this place because the atmosphere and location is perfect but the serve is just TERRIBLE! We came during a Sat afternoon and the outside was about half full and the inside was dead. From the time we ordered it took 50 min to bring our food. We had to get our son so we just asked for the check to pay for our drinks. Talking to the manager they said they were understaffed but they did not even offer a discount on our drinks! I wasn't being rude I just had questions that I would have like answers too. I spoke to two managers, Tressa and Christine Wesley. Went to the Bear location on a Tuesday night the week after Labor Day. Our party of 4 arrived at about 5:15 for an early dinner. We were seated promptly, but it took a while for our server to get to our table for our drink order. When she returned with our drinks, we placed our dinner orders. While we waited for our food, we chatted with our friends and noticed other customers seated after us ordering and receiving their food before ours was served. About 40 minutes after we ordered, 3 of our meals were served with an apology that the 4th meal was not ready yet, but would be right up. My husband insisted we not wait for him to eat. All 3 of our meals were delivered to the table cold (soup; a hamburger & fries; chicken nachos). 14 minutes later, my husband's order, (a cold wrap sandwich & cold fries) was delivered. This was the first time we were able to get the attention of our server to be able to advise her that our food came out cold. We sent the burger and fries and the soup orders back to be re-done. At this time, we started a timer to see how long it would take to get our food. The soup came out within a few minutes. The hamburger and fries, did not. After about 21 minutes, our server came to our table and apologized again stating she had checked twice and it was still not ready. At this time, i requested to speak with a manager and I advised that I didn't want the meal as the rest of my party had now finished eating their meals. It took another 13 minutes for a manager to come to our table to speak to us. He was carrying a tray with what was supposed to be my replacement meal. He offered a rather thin apology and stated that they were experiencing a "busier than normal Tuesday". We discussed that all of our meals were delivered cold and that mine had not been remade yet and the lengthy time it took us to be served. He had my replacement meal in his hands to which I commented that I had ordered a hamburger and fries and what he had for me was a cheeseburger and that again, the order was made wrong and if we were to stay, would need to be remade once more. The only consolation to this experience was that he removed all of our food items from our bill. Our server was very pleasant and apologetic. She was one of two that was working the outdoor area and was kept busy by diners at other tables. We will not be dining here again. read more

This is a great place to go for a few drinks or to grab a bite to eat. If you are looking for a restaurant with outdoor seating, then this place can't be beat. If the weather is not cooperating, then the indoor seating is also sufficient. The Sunday brunch is great and if you enjoy Bloody Mary's, then you have to try Grain's. The scrapple cheesesteak is awesome, so if your going for brunch, I highly recommend. Also, they have a great cheesesteak, and the OMG Crab Pretzel is a must for anyone who enjoys pretzels and crab meat. Went here for the first time 08/19. Sports on the tube and great food. Only complaint, which I usually just take care of myself, way to much ice in the cup. They were really busy! Only 2 weeks into business and it was rocking. We waited about 45 minutes for a table, but spent the time walking along the marina. Food was good, reasonably priced, staff friendly. Try the fried pickle appetizer. Bathrooms too small (lines), food was slow arriving, but the manager apologized. Said she has hired 120 people in the last month! I'd give it a try as it had a fun vibe. Staff working hard, still having a few growing pains. A MUST Visit! An open and inviting atmosphere- Grain H20 offers lots of delicious options with a great beer menu. Their Chicken Cheesesteak is a staple with perfectly prepared broccolini. My husband has tried a few of their special sandwiches and never had a bad meal. Their soups are always fresh and hot. The Staff is friendly, helpful and prompt. Great for Veggies too! Went here for bunch Sunday morning. Place is located on the marina which makes for a really relaxing vibe. Had no problem grabbing a seat and the service was good. I had the breakfast flatbread which is eggs, bacon, cheese on a flatbread pizza crust. It was really good. I'd definitely order it again. I ordered a bloody that i wasn't super impressed with. The blue cheese stuffed olive was a nice touch though. Just kinda watery for me. My wife got the scrapple cheese steak and from the way she was putting it down I'd say she loved it. We just ordered from Grain H2O, The pretzel was good. Chicken Nachos-There were five nachos with some cheese, eight small cubes of chicken and then a mountain of chips with nothing. A complete rip off. The pear grilled cheese was some pears with next to no cheese, considering the price, a joke. I feel like a just spent $70.00 on a pretzel. There will not be a next time. I might not have left this review, however when I called to speak to a manager my call went immediately to voicemail. read more
