Tenderloin
Tyler M.

I love small Indiana towns and Fairmount fits the bill. Excited to see such a high rated place on Yelp in this small town so we were anxious to try. Walking in we were hit with a pungent odor that was very off putting. Everyone in our group noticed it and were concerned but looked past it. Then we ordered drinks -- PAPER STRAWS. Shocking and not the place you'd expect to have this crappy product. We ordered the pork tenderloin thinking it would be the huge flat piece that hangs over the bun. No, it's more like a fried chicken breast that fits on the bun. It tasted alright but not my favorite. The macaroni and cheese was fine but not special especially for the $3 up charge. We all just left underwhelmed which was disappointing because I really wanted to like it. Next time we'll just go get a pizza next door at Bad Dad. It looked a lot better.

Great spot for dinner! We had the Bavarian pretzel sticks to start, and they were really good--soft, salty, and perfect with the beer cheese. For our meals, we got the Hoosier Hot Plate and Maker's Beef Tips. The tenderloin was crispy, and the sweet and savory sides made for a great combo. The beef tips were super tender with really good flavor. We finished with the lava cake, which was warm, rich, and gooey. Service was great, and the atmosphere was nice for a date night. Definitely worth a trip back!

Grains and Grill is a delicious oasis They have a wonderful bar and cocktails. This time my son got the walleye special. That is not to be missed. My daughter got the loaded mac and cheese. Get one to go for tomorrow! I had the beef tips and a bourbon beer. Oh yes. We started with the pretzels and pub cheese. Yum! Two desserts wrapped up the evening. Both were excellent and great helpings. We arrived just after 4:00 and ended up on the porch (all reserved up). I wouldn't trade the view and relaxed, summer atmosphere. As always, wonderful service. Can't wait to get back.

Butternut squash ravioli with chicken & ricotta cheese. It was a special.

This was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. From the beginning to the end. The service was excellent, the food was superb & we will be back!!! The whipped feta dip was really good & the special was butternut squash ravioli with chicken. It was divine!!! The atmosphere is great! We drive from Greenfield to Fairfield for our date night.... So worth it.

Was in town with my husband. He had eaten here in the past and liked it so much he wanted to take me here. Delicious. We came in on a very busy Thursday night. Service was a bit slow but very friendly. We both had the Hoosier hot plate. It was flash fried pork served over mashed potatoes (or you could get a baked potato) with creamed corn and sawmill gravy on top. Sounds like a mess but it was amazing. The bread they serve is also really good. Tastes very fresh and is hearty. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place and look forward to coming back soon.

Loved this!! This was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the beef tips with cream of corn and mash potato's. I personally could have passed on the dessert because I'm not a fan of cold desserts. Next door, is a brewery that you can walk to and bring beer back to your table. They also have there owe bar but we wanted to try the other place.

Wonderfully cozy and casual atmosphere with high quality food! We stopped in with my sister and BIL - we were goofy trying to relive our last couples trip - but our server Jessie was so patient and fun. Appetizers of fried mushrooms- small and none of that "mush" that sometimes happens with mushrooms- and Brussels - my sister thought we were nuts ordering them because she hates them.... She tried these & loved them! Hubby had Hoosier HotPlate (pork tenderloin) and said it was fantastic. Sister had bourbon glazed salmon and said she's quite picky but this was perfect. Bourbon glazed beef tips with mushroom and onion was so delicious. So excited to get gooey butter cake to go! Oh! And Deere John cocktail was like vacation in a glass!

Tesla EV charger (free for customers)

Great food while your EV charges! My wife had tenderloin plate which she deemed delicious. I had truffle honey chicken with fried asparagus and it was really good. Asparagus was big hit, as were the mashed potatoes. Definitely will go again. Although there are 2 Tesla destination chargers (which I used for my non-Tesla with an adapter) they are partially blocked by a grain bin structure. Not sure 2 vehicles could charge at the same time. Hopefully owner moves chargers to a more accessible location!

The food and service is excellent. A bonus is the brewery on site. Im not sure what else to say except it's a must try spot.

The restaurant is in a renovated train depot. The decor is a mix of styles. We were seated in a comfy booth by a window. Daily specials were listed on a board. Our server was attentive and friendly. She was busy with the lunch crowd, but managed to check on us frequently. I had a patty melt with a side salad. The salad was huge and fresh. The patty melt was covered in fabulous fried onions and melted cheese. It was a tasty and filling. My husband had the tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was hand breaded and delicious, but could have used a bit more seasoning in the breading. The fries and pickles were good and lunch was filling. The restrooms are clean and gorgeous. There is ample parking in their private lot. I recommend and will definitely return.

Our waitress comes back for our food order and mid order runs off to grab sweetener for the other person with us and then takes the rest of the order quickly asking no questions about preferences. The food came out cold, the Mickey Mouse pancake was not even close to Mickey Mouse shaped and huge for a kids menu. Never once asked how we were doing, if we needed anything or how the food was. I would not recommend, they were not busy and there were plenty of people working at the time. Prices are somewhat high for the quality you get, I could have made better at home for less. Tables and decor is outdated and worn, but cute. Side note: they threw out a pair of someone's prescription eye glasses as well after two days.

Good people, great food, great prices. (I mean coffee is only a buck fifty! I will say it's probably not as strong as many people like it but it's still good). I've read some other reviews about how it needs updated and such. But that's what makes it cool. I've read were some people say it's not clean, nothing could be farther from the truth! There is some clutter, but it's clean. It's a local family making some great food at affordable prices. 2 of us ate with coffee for under $20. If you're a breakfast person this is your first stop! As our weekend wound down, we all decided we wanted to go out for a special dinner. The suggestion came to check out Ron Lahody's Trust Your Butcher Steakhouse. It's about four blocks, easily within walking distance for most and with street parking around for those not able to walk that distance, from the Courtyard and I have to admit I was in for something a bit more premium. Lahody grew up around the meat business, though entered it a bit later after some time in the Marines, graduating from Ball State, working in the family business, and then spending 22 years in home remodeling. Finally, he opened Lahody meats in 2008 and then years later made it to the actual steakhouse business. Lahody still owns Lahody Meats in Muncie, recently opened a steakhouse in Anderson, and yet this spot is the original. As a wheelchair user, I was definitely looking for something wheelchair friendly. Downtown Muncie tends to be older and you can never be certain. I'd gone wheeling around the area the day before and was pretty sure this would be safe. We made our reservation for the end of our work day and then headed over to the steakhouse. I instantly fell in love with the place. It's intimate yet finely decorated. It has the traditional steakhouse vibe with a wood, warm environment, a nicely done bar area, and a couple spots that were clearly made for accessibility. We were placed in one of those booth/tables - small yet nicely sized and none of us ever felt over-cramped. I sat at the end of the booth while my friends took the inside seats. Our server, whose name I have unfortunately forgotten, was wonderful from beginning to end. The young woman was very friendly and helpful. Service was nicely paced, attentive, and never intrusive. It's worth noting that while you can eat somewhat modestly here, and they do have specials, this really is a higher-end steakhouse designed for premium dining. We ordered a couple appetizers at $15 each - candied bacon and green tomatoes. I had never tried candied bacon and kind of fell in love with it. My two peers enjoyed the green tomatoes. My peers enjoyed alcohol, a couple brews each with a solid variety available, and I enjoyed my usual unsweetened iced tea. We all ordered steaks, a definite rarity for me. One peer went for filet mignon. Myself and the other for a New York Strip. You get two sides with a steak. I saw they had roasted potatoes, an absolute favorite of mine, and I doubled an order for my two sides. Lahody himself was in-house. He's an older gent, silver-haired yet impeccably dressed. He was introducing himself to customers and sitting at the end of the bar when I left. When he thanked you for coming, the gratitude felt sincere. Service? Top-notch. Accessibility? I didn't visit the restroom, however, everything was accessible and comfortable. The steak? Oh my, I haven't had a steak this good in a long time. It was cooked as ordered and prepared beautifully. The roasted potatoes were nicely seasoned and simply sublime. This was a definite splurge for me, however, as we were celebrating finishing up a non-profit film it felt like a beautiful way to celebrate with friends in an environment where I felt welcome. There's no question I'll return.
