I spent about 3 years at Spider Muay Thai and they helped me go from having 0 knowledge about fighting (other than watching UFC) to winning my first few point kickboxing fights. I knew I'd learn a lot about fighting, but I was astounded by how welcoming the community is. A lot of the members will support you in one way or another. Whether it's by coming to watch you fight, give you advice on how to prepare mentally and physically, or even send an encouraging text the night before the big day. Coach Julio goes above and beyond for everyone. Doesn't matter if you're on a trial membership, an experienced fighter, or just in town for the day--coach Julio treats everyone kindly. Definitely also recommend picking his brain because he is one of the most passionate people I've ever met in my life. I don't throw around the word genius often, but Coach Franky is a Fight GENIUS. Coach Agu right away can make a new member feel like you guys have been friends for years. Coach Chris teaches epic combos that he actually executes in fights and sparring! In addition, Spider has tons of other knowledgeable coaches who know how to create a safe but intense environment for those who either want to step in the ring or just simply learn the art. He even drilled with me and gave me tips to improve my technique. My daughter and I have been training with coach Franky since 2019 as my daughter WAS shy and thought it would be a good way to build her confidence through something we both can participate. My daughter took the kids classes with coaches Carlos and Omar too, when schedule permitted. She also used to join the adult classes too, and everyone was very passionate of lifting each other up. I didn't know what to expect coming into this gym, given that I'd never done any martial arts before, but I immediately felt welcome! The coaches, long-time members, and even the fighters that train there have all been super patient and have gone out of their way to teach me. There are fitness classes available all day and martial arts classes in the evenings, so no matter what your schedule, there's always something that you can do here. You can really see how much everyone cares about this gym. The place is always clean, and there's ample equipment, heavy bags, and even a full-size ring that's available to everyone! One of The best Muay thai academies I've ever seen in OC. Traditional Muay thai is taught here, no egos, no bulling just pure technique and great sparring classes. Lots of pro mma and muay thai fighters train at this place. They also have a great BJJ class taught by US Open, Grappler quest champion. Great gym for direct instruction from pros! I met the head instructor at a fight and kept this gym in mind when my grown daughter was looking for a gym. She joined up this summer and is in love with this gym. She enjoyed the Fit Camp but is already addicted to the Muay Thai classes. Found a new passion! Had been interested in learning Muay Thai for years and finally got around to finding a gym to go to. Spider Muay Thai was one of my first choices because they have affordable prices and classes everyday (mon-sat). When I contacted them by text, head coach Franky texted me back promptly and invited me to try the class out for free. So cool! I was definitely nervous but everyone was so nice and kindly helped me when my technique was incorrect. It was so much fun learning something unfamiliar to me plus it was such a good workout! I was so stoked that I signed up immediately and went home unable to get Muay Thai out of my head!! Now 6 months later, I can say I'm definitely obsessed with this combat sport and cannot see myself not practicing it lol. Another thing id like to mention is, I've never been a big girl but when i first started here I was 140 lbs which kind of shows on me standing at 5'3. Taking the Muay Thai classes, s&c classes instructed by strength coach Juan, plus the Fit Camps (hiit circuit workouts) has done miracles on my body!!! I'm back down to 120 lbs I haven't been this weight since high school y'all! I feel so much better in my own skin, strong and confident.
