Before all this craziness, gramps was the place to be for all. They're happy hour was one of the best 4-8, half price. Even during a pandemic their drinks are #1 in my book. Im soooo happy they reopened! Even better they're drinks are now to-go. Now I can have a gramps expierence at home. Definitely taste the same way I remember so long ago at the bar. I think Gramps is one of the best choices for a club in Wynwood. They are not stuffy like many places that have dress codes. You can go in shorts and a T-shirt or club wear. The music is great because the DJs are great and there is a good selection of drinks at very fair prices and no cover charge. They close at 3 AM which may be earlier than some other clubs in the area. Location is very central, take an Uber because the traffic is horrible at night in Wynwood. read more

Gramps continues to be my favorite Miami bar. I don't party often, but when I do, you are likely to find me at Gramps. My favorite night is the second Thursday of the month, they host nerd nite, double stubble, and let's sang. I try my best not to miss it. Have been going to nerd nite for 3 years, the lectures are usually fantastic, and I end up learning something cool/interesting/useful. The past few months, double stubble is hosted right after the lectures and I couldn't be any happier! It mixes two of my favorite things, academia and drag. I just freaking love drag as an art form and I'm so happy to be able to support local queens and kings. The best crowd that evening. Highly recommend it. read more

We were able to enjoy a couple of drinks before quarantine and they were Delicious! It was a great experience with a great Bartender Ashley. She gave great recommendations and was just fun to be around. The experience was so good, we had to support them and order takeout cocktails. We enjoyed the Rosemary's baby which is just a refreshing and delicious drink that comes with a torches sprig of rosemary. Their old fashioned is also delicious but very different from the typical old fashioned. It is a great sipping drink with a touch of spice due to the ground pepper but also has a sweet touch to it. Love the cocktails, the vibe, and the pizza! I've come here to see the occasional comedy show in their back theatre (a super intimate space behind the bar) and live music on their outside tiki-theme patio. Fun energy and super kind staff, everyone is welcome. It's so nice to be able to come down to Miami for some music, drinks, and a bite all in one place that won't break the bank. Love that they have an outside with plenty of space where you won't feel too crowded like other spots. When it comes to things to do,gramps is always hosting some cool spectacle. Toto drag show on Wednesday nights, double stubble and karaoke on Thursday's . Sometimes comedy night and trivia. They also have some arcade games inside that are always entertaining. When it comes to drinks my go to is always cucumber in paradise. It's a tequila based drink with a refreshing and spicy kick. Rosemary's baby is always a nice one too both aesthetically and taste wise. I always look for Dueñas, or Kevin to be my bartender. After a few drinks gramps is always great for when the munchies hit. SITREP When my friends took me to go see "The Walls" in the Wynwood area of North Miami, this was a welcome reprieve from the crazy crowds on the streets where we could go rehydrate ourselves and listen to chill music. THE SETUP A very casual vibe and a minimalist set-up, this place is truly meant for conversations and relaxation. The music has a lively beat, but always stays in "the background" - it's never loud nor does it overpower our conversations that we have to start yelling at each other. THE DRINKS Everything you want made is available, from Mojitos, Tequila shots and inexpensive bottles of water (imagine that!). PATIO! The patio is massive and where most of the music action is taking place, as well as where everything is hanging out. Gramps seems to enjoy it's role as a patio paradise! After our UYE at Alter in Wynwood, our group started venture around the area and we came here, and It seems like a hip place to hang out. Inside this place there is a bar and a few tables and booth, but we spent most of our time in the outside patio. There was a beer swap event going on this day and few breweries sat up their booths for beer sampling. Perfect! In the back of the patio, there was a live DJ playing music. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Being in Wynwood, this place is filled with hip vibe. I'd imagine this place must be rocking with a big music venue. read more

I loved Gramps! Been meaning to check it out for some time and the opportunity presented itself on Saturday. We got there pretty early, and it was pretty empty, but that just meant we got a seat at the bar and the bartender's undivided attention. The music was good, too! Ensconced at the bar, we ordered some drinks... Larry S. got the Sorrel Fox, Friend had the Moscow Mule, and Friend's Girlfriend and I had the Rosemary's Baby. All were excellent! The Fox was a slightly sweet concoction, whereas the Rosemary's Baby was delciously botanical with a smoky finish, thanks to a charred rosemary sprig. There were some intriguing draft beers on tap - we sampled the "sweet potato casserole" beer but gave it thumbs down! Went with a porter instead and enjoyed the coffee notes. Friend also had a "Shut the Fuck Up, Donny", mostly as it contained something called "sex panther" but as it turned out, was a pretty good drink (similar to a white russian). We stayed inside, but the outdoor patio looked like a great overflow area with its own tiki bar. The drinks were priced well ($10-$12) considering that they all contained specialty items like fresh herbs, fruit infused syrups and top shelf liquor. If the place was packed, it might take a while to get a drink, although the friendly bartender was quite adept at his job. Looking forward to returning! read more

I wish this review could be more detailed, but their drinks are very strong :) They make very good rum drinks..that's all you need to know and remember! Whether it's a classic mojito I enjoyed when they first opened for Art Basel 2012 to their "ShipFaced" spicy rum cocktail I enjoyed this weekend, the point is you will get good rum cocktails at Gramps. The music varies, though I vaguely remember some DJ Tiki Tiki. There was a band setting up as I left Friday night though. Interesting trivia tidbit: When they opened in Basel, they actually had a live gator show in the patio. I actually have pics from back then! read more

Drinks are fairly priced ($7-$15 depending on what you get) The music in all the rooms are different so it creates unique atmosphere for each room. Lot of benches and places to sit in the shaded patio section out back. They have a delicious pizza spot in the outside patio called Pizza Tropical. Slices run from $3-$5 range and whole pies from $18-$25. The Hawaiian pizza I tried was delicious. Cool hipster style vibe here with an open concept bar. They have an outdoor terrace with a Dj usually playing. The crowd that comes here seems to be ver changing so I haven't really found a consistent theme style for different nights. The drink made at the bar are pretty good but I like to keep it simple. Checked this place out with a large group of friends and liked that there were a couple types of areas to hang out (indoor bar, covered area, etc.). It's good for grabbing a quick drink (beer/cocktail) and also if you have the late night pizza munchies. I tried a slice of La Blanca (with three cheeses, caramelized onions, and a sesame seed crust) and it was on point! You can also get pizzas by the pie instead of slice. Gramps is also a good place to people watch, that is... people on the dance floor getting down to tunes. I would have preferred if the music selection came from more than just vinyls though. A mix of oldies and newer or more popular songs would have been even better! Parking: There's street parking in Wynwood. $1.50 an hour if you can find a spot. read more

I came for Nerd Nite and was looking forward to having a chill afternoon with some drinks. I didn't know I would spend half my night in line! For some odd reason there was only one bartender until about 7:30. All of the drinks have about 10 ingredients and of course every order was four different drinks. She couldn't remember who walked up first, so would serve whomever she felt like. The barback just walked around back mindlessly cut some lemons. He could have served a beer or something. I was waiting 10-15 min for a single drink at this point, even with only 5 other people in line. By the time the event started and over 150+ people were crammed into the back, one of the guys sitting on the side all afternoon jumped behind the bar. Now there were 20-30 people at a time with the wait about 20 min. At this point I decided to just order two drinks at a time for myself. Only drink special was a $4 beer until 7. The cocktails looked good, but my friend said there was too much ice and not enough alcohol for the price and wait. The pizza outside was really good! They have amazing cocktails, using all fresh ingredients (inducing ginger for the penicillin drink which is delicious) they have some good beer choices too! I have been coming to Gramps for years. I've been going to Terrestrial funk Tuesdays, happy hour, events. I've told all my friends to go there. I really loved the place. Last night I felt the most prejudice from their security staff. They did not let us in whatsoever while they let everyone else in. They said, "we were too drunk and it was a liability" as if I've ever heard that before in Miami. I would never disrespect as I've lived in Miami my whole life. I know how it is...They kept saying I was stumbling but really I was just trying to break into my new groovy doc martins platforms (I'm a tall woman already so they can see me a mile away and a bit clumsy) it wasn't their business. Typically gramps is a great time and I really loved their groovy aesthetic and Tuesday's but I will never go back again with my friends. I can't help but offering the rosemary drink every time I come here. I like how the area is perfectly dispersed so the chill time outdoors on the tables is enjoyable without feeling cramped. Wynwood has become the mecca of art, food, bars, and trendy scenery within the past decade yet this place has always kept its cool. They do feature live bands on certain nights which is always pretty dope to check out. The music is lower outside making it suitable for chill conversations without having to scream over each other. Music is great and there's plenty of space to dance. The happy hour specials are pretty much unbeatable. Plus they have a hefty variety of craft beer which always quenches a parched palette.
