TLDR: This is no ordinary coffee shop. It is an absolute gem. An experience for your tastebuds and a treasure to be cherished. Gramz is your go-to spot for a sweet indulgence, a coffee pick-me-up, a simple meeting, a casual first date, or even an afternoon study session! If you're looking for a unique spot with character, high quality, and reasonable prices -- look no further than Gramz. I just wish I lived in the area so I could come here ALL THE TIME. But, I'd probably gain 60 lbs too.. Food: Where to start? I truly don't think you can go wrong with any choice in the bakery display. EVERYTHING is homemade by one of Jay's daughters. Even the syrups for the drinks. My first taste was the strawberry and creme cupcake. Let me tell you - I've tried at LEAST two dozen cupcake establishments from Seattle to St. Louis to DC. This cupcake has jumped to my #2 spot rivaling the famous Georgetown cupcakes of DC (specifically rivaling their strawberry champagne cupcake). Big enough for two to share (or just yourself, no judegement :P ), the flavor profile is light and sweet, the cake is moist without being too oily, and the creme icing is designed like a sweet rose with just enough to complement each bite. The chocolate/caramel turtle was THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! You can taste the homemade quality of the ingredients. Each bite was a heavenly journey from the initial crunchy texture of the pecan base to the rich decadence of the caramel and milk chocolate melting in your mouth and finally, to the light salty finish from the sea salt topping. Have a bad day? Want to celebrate an achievement? Treat your tastebuds to an experience of existential delight. You deserve it. For those who prefer a tart filled treat - get the lemon bar. I am usually a devoted fan of sweet indulgence, but the lemon bar is truly a treasure. The base is a firm shortbread-like bottom crust. It's soft enough to break away with a soft, applied pressure, but firm enough to stay together with each forkful. The texture of the base gives a nice subtle crunch to each bite and is the perfect, subtly sweet complement to the tart of the lemon topping. The lemon topping itself is absolutely glorious. The center section immediately adjacent to the crust is soft and invitin. It has a distinctly lemon flavor without being overly tart. The top-most layer has an airy-light texture that is reminiscent of a macaron. It has successfully converted me to the wonders of tart-filled goodness. Coffee: They offer quite an extensive variety of high-quality coffee that is brewed regularly so it comes out piping hot, and maintains the fresh, lovely flavors of each coffee varietal. And yes, you can just go down the line and taste each one until you find your favorite. Good luck trying to pick just one though... But aside from your "typical" cup o' joe, they offer cold brews (creamy nitro versions too!), kombucha, and espresso based drinks. I pretty much tried one of each kind. Every single beverage was sublime. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Environment and decor: Expansive and inviting space that has a great balance of bigger tables for larger groups and cozy nooks to savor a decadent treat in a lush armchair that feels like a warm hug on a fall afternoon. The furniture is incredibly comfortable. The tables are a wonderful mix of simple and luxurious. The beautiful live edge wooden tables are paired with an interesting modern, industrial base. Since the owner (Jay) has a background in construction and renovation, I wouldn't be surprised if he built much of the furniture here himself. Heck, I wonder if I could custom order some for my own home!! There is light music playing in the background but is at a volume that doesn't at all impede conversation but rather, adds to the ambiance. Best of all is the beautiful decor. Jay and his family are still in the renovation process. Don't get me wrong, it's all accessible and functional, but their goal is to bring back to life the history of the building -- and they have ambitious plans to highlight the character of the space. Take a second and look up if you come for a visit. Appreciate the stunning (original) ceiling which they've uncovered and are painstakingly trying to restore. The coffee was very flavorful and they even sell the coffee beans. They have a grinder station you can use if you don't own one at home. Had a brownie and I LOVED IT. Baked goods are good. In my opinion, not worth the cost except for the cake balls. Service is usually below average in my experience. Man working yesterday ensured I won't be back. If I am spending that much on a nonessential, I want a positive interaction and experience. I found the store's ambience to be pleasant and different. The staff was very friendly. They smiled and said thank you and the prices were right. The baked goods and the brew smelled delicious( I was picking up an order and hadn't been there before, so I didn't taste anything). So disappointed! I walked by this place for years on the way to Zarharako's. I always wanted to try it but never had the chance. I was so disappointed. My husband and I each ordered a cinnamon roll. The girl behind the counter was a bit young and inexperienced, but she did a good job. The cinnamon rolls, however, were DRY and tasteless. There wasn't enough icing in the world that could improve them. My husband also got a cup of coffee and stated that it was actually really good. Maybe the coffee is good. So lovely to have a bakery that's not a chain...I was visiting friends (little friends!) and the woman behind the counter was so sweet and patient with us as we ordered. It looks like a cozy, quiet place to come for a sweet treat any time and its very convenient to other things we wanted to walk to later. We tried quiche (ham and cheese) and pecan rolls and cinnamon rolls and cookies...and coffee for me from the little dispenser...everything was SO tasty. This is the only coffee shop in Columbus that serves any organic coffee! We specifically try to support Gramz for this reason. The coffee is always hot. During the week, there are typically 7-9 drip coffees available, including 2-3 that are organic. On the weekend, there are fewer drip coffees available, but usually 5-6, including 2 organic. Typically honey and cinnamon is available, in addition to the traditional options, for your coffee. The prices here are very reasonable. Also, a cool tidbit, they are working on starting a kombucha growler program (I have tasted the kombucha and it is fantastic). Though I have never had any of them, there are always many baked goods available. There are no refined-sugar free options yet. They do have smoothies available that are made with organic, whole fruit, but I have not tried them yet. They have bagged, roasted coffee as well as tea available to take out. It's a family run coffee place, and 1 of the 2 locally owned coffee shops in Columbus. The staff is very friendly and up for having a chat if you want. There is usually plenty of space to sit, and the furniture is A+. They remodeled the entire thing not too long ago. Sometimes, when the temp outside gets really low (0-10 F) it can get chilly in there due to the old building. I wish that they were open a little later than noon on Saturday to work better with our Saturday schedule, so we could always make it in there. We traveled to Columbus to check out the architecture and Zaharakos VIntage Ice Cream Parlor - which turned out to be closed that day. Our disappointment was short lived though as we discovered Gramz Bakery just a few doors down. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The owner was extremely friendly. We tried the sweet potato bread, pumpkin loaf, homemade lemonade and a peach smoothie! All wonderful and each making me wish Gramz had a location closer to home. read more

I've tried this place a couple of times when in town and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious bakery treats. My favorite is their banana nut bread. The best banana bread I've had. After years of buying goods from the Steele's at farmers markets, my wife and I are over joyed that they finally have a place of their own to sell their AWESOME baked goods. I've never bought something I didn't like - didn't love - from the Steele's. Their pecan rolls (obtained from their purchase of Shaffer's House of Bread) are the best I've ever tasted and their scones put anything Panera or Starbucks have to shame. This is a very nice shop! The owner is always there and is super friendly every time I go in. They have about 10 coffee flavors on tap and will apparently be adding cold brew coffees in the very near future. Yum. The baked goods are incredible. We read good things about this place on Yelp and since it was on the main drag, I was expecting a European style bakery. But, t'was not so. They didn't have many things in the bakery case, and what was there did not look that great. We just walked out without buying anything. Maybe we went on a bad day. After spending 3 days in this town, I realized that you can't really compare their restaurants and bakeries with the ones in the major cities. I ordered a cake for a baby shower from Gramz, and I was so pleased! The cake looked exactly like the photo I provided and they did an excellent job on the details! I ordered the cake a month early and there was some confusion when I went to pick up the cake but they handled the issue quickly and courteously! Everyone enjoyed the cake, it was very moist and delicious. The price was great, the staff was helpful and very kind! Very sorry to say I was not able to try Gramz Bakery. After reviewing their website, which stated that orders should be placed 48 hours prior to date desired, I called on Monday morning to order 12 bagels to be picked up this Friday or Saturday. I was told they couldn't fill the order. Just a dozen bagels? Too bad. I'm glad others like the bakery and hope some day I'll be able to test it as well. read more
