I called and they help me pick out a room and two weeks later I arrived. I was greeted at the door and shown to my room and welcomed and felt at home. There was fresh sugar cookies and a bottle of wine complementary to their guests. Julie recommended a restaurant on the Square and it was a short 10 minute walk on a pathway to the Square which was a beautiful scenic walk. We found the restaurant Christina's and had a delicious wonderful meal. We sat in the porch and enjoyed the squirrels playing in the trees. Breakfast was at 9:00 am and we visited with 3 other couples. It was a delightful time. The new owners are doing an amazing job. Come check them out.

Their backyard was very nice and it overlooks Lake Granbury. I totally recommend this place for a nice get away. Also, you can walk downtown which takes only 10 mins which is a nice safe walk.

We totally lucked out and felt like we won the Lottery when we walked in. The proprietor met us on the little road heading down (while she was feeding the chickens, with a longhorn standing ominously behind her). Then - a huge fireplace with burning logs to welcome us in. We arrived late afternoon and just took a brief walk around the grounds on a few of the many trails. The Prayer chapel has a custom made cross with a stained glass dragonfly. The serenity of the scenic landscape is really something. This would be a perfect getaway for a group or spiritual retreat. Truly an amazing feeling - like you've just come home! We have stayed in agglomeration cabins and rental homes over the years and really appreciate those that go above and beyond- these did not. Having a list of things to do around the city, which is very small, would have been nice. Or the option of renting a fishing pole, maybe even a loaner that were could check out for the day would have been nice. We are not fishing people, we have never been so offering that would be nice. The is a place to have a fire bur no wood, again it would be nice if that was something included. Overall, the cabin was just that- a place to stay to sleep. Not much else in regards to activities. If I were to make a suggestion: 1. Have fishing rods (cheap, crappy ones) that guests could borrow 2. List of family fun activities close by 3. List of good places to eat 4. Any great places top see, shop or stop by the locals know about but out-of-towners would not It's a great place to just get away and relax, just a little lost as far as what to do around there.

It has so much charm, but everything has been freshly remodeled, so you get that perfect mix of old character and modern comfort. Our room was spotless and much larger than we expected, which was a really nice surprise. It felt bright, fresh, and thoughtfully updated. The towels were super soft, which I always notice and appreciate. There isn't a traditional lobby or staff working on site 24 hours a day, but that honestly wasn't an issue at all. Ken greeted us when we arrived, showed us to our room right away, and answered all of our questions. He was friendly, welcoming, and very informative. Anytime I texted the number they provided, we got a quick response. We never felt like we were on our own or couldn't get help if we needed it. The amenities were great too. The free coffee bar was perfect in the mornings, and having an ice machine and elevator made everything easy. The complimentary aluminum water bottle was such a thoughtful touch. And definitely make a reservation at Christina's on the ground floor of the building. The food was fantastic and such a convenient bonus to have right there. I was a little worried about parking, but there is tons of street parking available. No problems at all. If you're looking for a cozy, unique place with tons of charm, this is it. We would absolutely stay here again.

Just sticking to major issues (lot of subtle problems, too), they charged extra $50 for early 2pm…read morecheck-in, that's too much (wasn't 11am, most grat that without a charge). Security - there's no way as customary to secure the door from inside, no dead bolt, no latch, no door block on jam, nothing, not even a "do not disturb" to hang on door. So we're there an hour before woman walks in as we're lying on the bed gawking at us, and because the rooms are incredibly small (only window for natural light closed drapes behind tall headboard, coffin-like dark small room) the door and the woman are only 3 feet from the bed as she's basically standing at the end of the bed gawking at us and then shutting door. Noise - there's approx 2 inch gap from bottom of door to floor, so inside the room you hear all the sound from other guests and the restaurant as if they're in the room with you. Insects - for the few hours we stayed until we promptly checked out and went elsewhere, we saw cockroaches at the coffee station, that with the door gaps meant bugs were free to go from room to room to restaurant, including the multiple flying bugs of different kinds that were in our room. Service - we let hosts know (all online, no staff on site) that we were checking out for issues and requested refund. The one time we actually got a call back and spoke to a human, it was broken English (China?), and had to follow up on issues and request for refund again, and then never heard back. We went and stayed elsewhere, paying for two hotels that night, and never heard back from Nutt House.
