Granby Ranch Ski Resort continues to be one of our favorite places to hit the slopes--this was our third visit, and it just keeps getting better. What really made this trip stand out was staying in a condo in Basecamp One. The ski-in/ski-out access was incredibly convenient and added such an extra layer of ease and enjoyment to the whole experience. Being able to step right out and onto the mountain (and back again) made everything feel that much more relaxed and enjoyable. The resort itself has such a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere, making it perfect for families, beginners, or anyone who just wants to enjoy skiing without the pressure of more intense terrain. The slopes are wide, well-groomed, and especially friendly for first-time or casual skiers--you can really take your time and enjoy yourself. The bistro was another highlight once again--the food is excellent and far better than what you might expect from a typical ski resort. It's the perfect place to warm up and recharge. The vibe across the mountain is always a good time. There's great music playing, and you can hear the sounds of wintertime fun all around--laughter, skis carving through snow, and that lively energy that makes a day on the mountain so special. If you're not a regular skier or just want to avoid risking bodily injury on more challenging runs, Granby Ranch is absolutely the place to go. It's fun, approachable, and consistently delivers a great experience. We'll definitely be back again. read more

Stayed here for an entire week and had but 1 issue,which I'll get to later. This is a great location to stay at if you're visiting Granby Colorado! It's close to all the places to do things in the area including eating,shopping along with all of the outdoor activities. It's large,easy to navigate,has a great pool,hot tub,sauna,arcade,barbershop... you name it and there's a good chance they've got it. I wasn't a fan of the stove in the room and the large amount of dogs on the premises. I love dogs but the amount of dog poop on property as I'm trying to enjoy my coffee wasn't good. Which is sad because there are poop bags provided by the property. read more

I really was hoping to give this place a 4 or 5 star rating but I can't. Based on the size of the resort and the ticket prices, they didn't math. I'm glad we have the 6th grade pass because the cost is ridiculous. I was happy when I saw the size because my kid was alone but with only 3 lifts and a crazy outfit, how could I miss her? I do like there is a lift that is nothing but blue/green which is where my kid belongs and not trying to navigate a diamond alone. We got there around 8am and the bathrooms hadn't been cleaned and were out of soap. You would think this would be addressed after closing but nope. And they stayed gross and out of soap. The lodge was ok. There was a TV playing Nickelodeon on the wall. The shop was ok but getting tickets was a pain. I mean the far corner of the property shop with not enough windows to address tickets. The food was honestly way overpriced and not very good. There was no water bottle filler but there was a water fountain. You can't get the kids menu inside the lodge, only at the outside window. Why? I don't know. I had to pay $5 for a card for the lift when I already had a ticket. That makes no sense to me. Seems like a scam to suck more money out of you. read more

We wanted to check out skiing in CO as a family of four. We've gone skiing 3 times (except my husband who has gone 4 times). Granby Ranch has a nice mix of greens, blues and blacks. We skied the greens and blues over and over on the west mountain. We skied a blue on the east mountain with lots of blacks as well. Jackpot was our favorite. Followed by home again because of the awesome views. There are obstacle courses and terrain parks which are a lot of fun for adults and kids. This is a family friendly location. It really was nice. There's a cafe and restaurant as well in Base Camp one. Plus the grocery store is super close by. We rented a 2 BR, 2 BA condo in the building. It was perfect to lock our stuff up on the 1st floor then gear up and immediately head out to the slopes. read more

Best skiing of my life. It was not busy at all we rented skiis at the place and I thought it was finna be a hassle but it was so convenient and fast. The park is a little smaller, comparable to monarch, but has some of the funnest runs ever. GO ON EASY MONEY you will not regret going here. read more

Granby Ranch was recommended to us by our hotel in the area. We were looking for snowboard lessons for our kids that are just learning to snowboard. Granby Ranch was a bit more reasonably priced than nearby Winter Park AND allowed us to book same day lessons. Other ski resorts we checked all required 48 hour advanced reservations. The snowboard lessons were about 2 1/2 hours. The price did not include a lift ticket or rentals. In the end, we ended up paying about $200 per kid. One thing I didn't love was how they moved kids groups around after parents left. Our three kids were in one group, with one other kid close to their age and skill level. When we returned my 15 year old was on a tiny hill with 5 year olds. Needless to say she was NOT happy and neither were we. She didn't even need the lift ticket for what they had her doing. If you're in this area and haven't made plans, this may be the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't return. If you're anything more than just starting out you will be bored quickly here. read more

This used to be our go-to as Denver people with young kids. It truly is a great, small mountain for families. Our kids have taken several lessons over the years, gained confidence, and learned to enjoy the sports of both skiing and boarding. I wish I could end it here and give this place what it used to deserve, 5-stars. But, no. The poor reviews aren't wrong. This season (2024-25), is a whole different vibe. From staff to clientele, likely the latter feeding the former, to be fair. But come ONNNN!!! If you hate people, tourists, and customer service, get a new job!! Don't ruin my long weekend with my family to a place we cherish! The rudeness, the complacency, the complete lack of respect and communication is all on full display, hour and hour - interaction after interaction. The lines, the disregard for customers, the blatant irritation with people paying HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars to spend our hard earned cash AT YOUR SKI MOUNTAIN, in the middle of a state CHOCK FULL of ski options!!! I am sooooooo sad and disappointed. This place used to be a gem for local families. My recommendation would be to spend the extra money and go to a bigger, more well managed mountain. The people who work here don't want you here, and you'll spend precious time being rudely spoken to or straight ignored, all while wasting money and time. It's disappointing and tiresome. But that's the direction leadership has taken what was once a great little family friendly mountain. And to put the cherry on top, they couldn't care less. We stopped one evening for night skiing on a recent trip to Winter Park. It was SUPER COLD (-8), but we had a great time making as many laps as we could stand down the open terrain. Night skiing is $10 for kids and $20 for adults! The quad lift looked to be in good shape and the run was pretty nice. I would come back again and check out more of their runs during regular hours if the opportunity presented itself. When we were done, we came inside and ate dinner. Service and the food were both good. We came away impressed overall with their facilities and their staff. Granby seems to be a pretty well run outfit. read more

I highly recommend this place for families! The staff is great. The place is clean and up to date. There is enough here to entertain all members of the family. They pack a lot of trails into the footprint. Great runs off the high speed and steep stuff of the fixed quad. The groomers were so smooth, but there was powder in the wood. The lodge is clean and well-staffed. Easy parking. Sure, it is not a hard-core place like Vail or Breck, but if you bring the whole crew, this place is very entertaining. read more

I would have given this place 5 stars if it were based on just our first day there. Amazing staff and experience, especially in the ski school department. I wasn't planning on coming back a second day but my 7 year old loved it so much that we decided to go back the following morning. We were there about an hour and had the WORST staff experience ever (the lift department), I couldn't believe it. Sydney, the pony lift n@zi, was incredibly unfriendly to me & my 7 year old who has difficulty binding his own boots on his snowboard. I wasn't skiing, had rentals or a lift pass the second day, but when they said they would not help him bind his boots (like they did the first day, or let him go up with both boots binded), I got on the lift with him to help bind them, and she caused a huge scene, stopping the lift & making us get off. It made my son feel incredibly sad, confused and uncomfortable. I asked to speak to her supervisor, Andy, who turns out it much more awful and disappointing. He literally accused me of lying MULTIPLE times and threatened to "pull the camera footage" and when I said "PLEASE do," he said he won't because he "deals with guests like you [me] all the time," and "my story won't match what really happened" which was insane that he could treat a guest like that?! I asked him if he was blatantly accusing me of lying in front of others and my child & he said "No, but your story isn't the truth" ??? WHAT. We left immediately, I was so upset and my son was so sad. If it weren't for Sydney and Andy, we would have had the best time. We stayed for 7 hours our first day and it was amazing, everyone treated us so well and we are thankful for that. I'm a single mom who tries to take him on fun trips and just wanted him to have a good experience. read more

Excellent family ski resort. Hands down a better value and experience than Winter Park if your skiing with kids or a group with various abilities. Only one Base Camp so easy to keep track of the kids and meet up with everyone in your ski party. Schedule lessons in advance and know ahead that this ski school teaches "French Fry" style and not "pizza pie". A hard habit to break but will definitely increase their ski level quicker and make the transition to more expert runs easier. I appreciate the older, experienced, local instructors here. Rent skis at Base Camp or at the Breeze Ski Rental at the Inn at Silver Creek. Make sure to visit in the summer for concerts, festivals, rodeos, hiking, mountain biking, golf and fly fishing. We loved it. From beginners to experts, they have nice slopes. Not as big as Copper Mountain or Breckenridge but that was perfect for us. A family vacation with three generations. We could ski right to our condo and ski right out and down to the lifts. The Ski Lodge has nice seating outside with chairs out in the snow and on the patio. The patio has an outdoor firepit. The are no steps from the slopes to the patio or to the clubhouse. They have three places to eat. One on each floor of the lodge. The prices are a little high. The food can be good but we found a problem with them serving old, not fresh food. read more

I have to thank the two medics, Chris & David, (I think) that got my embarrassing butt off the top of the hill! Absolutely amazing, empathetic but professional people who are assets to the medical field & Granby Ranch. I'm an amateur snow see-er & the rental ski boots for the snowboard had my right foot swollen to the point it had gone cold from no circulation. It was embarrassing for me but they both made me comfortable, calm & even smile & laugh through it all. I laid on that emergency sled making Minon noises (as instructed for fun) & truly couldn't have asked for better people to help me with my first snowvoarding dilemma. The are some positives here. It's a small place and used to be a much better value for families and beginners. Unfortunately the lift ticket prices are no longer a bargain considering the limited terrain. That being said, it is a good place for families. The amount of terrain is limited, but enough to give your kids a sense of freedom all the while, it's impossible to get lost here. It's just no longer a value priced lift ticket. Now the bad. It literally took us an hour to but lift tickets for our family. It was easier for me to renew my drivers license. Everyone had to sign waivers and be photographed. The staff could barely navigate the software to sell you a lift ticket. Skiing is supposed to be fun, but by the time you finally get your lift ticket at Granby Ranch and realize how much of your precious vacation time they waisted, you are in the worst mood. read more

We loved our time at Granby Ranch! We had a beautiful day to learn to ski and a few of the other skiers even took time to give me (the newbie) a few pointers. Which I greatly appreciated. We had lunch at the grill located on the bottom floor of Base Camp. It was delicious! They had a Pitcher + Pizza for $22 deal going on that day. The pizza was super delicious, light, moist and flaky crust. The porter was amazing (says my husband). And the nachos were pretty good too! They could have used some fresh avocado or guacamole, but they were tasty. The only con we saw the entire day, was that a few of the cooks that we could see from our lunch seats enjoyed a few bites of their choosing while on the job. Kind of weird! There is ice cold water available in all the hallways with cups, or to refill bottles. There's free coffee in the bottom level hallway. And there are tons of indoor seats you can find to relax in while watching the skiers and snowboarders come down the mountain. Thanks Granby for a great experience! read more

I had everything but a typical wedding at Granby Ranch. It was a bumpy road with them in the beginning, but I got my third wedding coordinator there (Cassidy) and everything was a wonderful experience after that. She was so organized and so willing to answer questions and edit details of our wedding day while i planned from across the country. We ran into weather issues on the big day after the bridesmaids were waiting for things to commence on top of the mountain. Cassidy and her team were able to get us to the lodge to wait it out and eventually we came up with a game plan. We were working against the clock and Cassidy made the transition between plans seamless. I cannot thank her enough for all her help and hard work. She even made sure the guests could all enjoy the ski lift ride the following day since they were unable to go up the mountain on wedding day. Our chef was fantastic -- best food ever. I made sure to make time to eat my baked beans, mac and cheese, and housemade pepperoni on my wedding day. He was so friendly and extremely helpful. Even made sure to express his sympathy when things were going awry on wedding day. The coordinator that stepped in for the later evening was an awesome guy, as well. I am blanking on all these names because the day was so hectic but I am so appreciative of his coordination of staff and his help to finish the clean up and night's activities without a hitch. There aren't many places in the world like the wedding ceremony site at the top of the ski lift at Granby Ranch. You walk through an aspen-lined path and emerge into a clearing with a wide-open panorama of the mountains. It's basically set on the edge of a cliff with a glorious drop and it is quintessential Colorado at its best. There are abundant spots for incredible photo-ops and I'm a fan of the relaxed atmosphere throughout. It's pretty much the antithesis of what you find at some of the more pretentious mountain town resorts. Plus, it's an easy drive from Denver, so it's an ideal spot for giving out of towners the full CO experience. read more

Granby Ranch customer service is a joke. I signed my kids up for ski school and was under the impression that lift tickets were included per their website. I guess if you pick ski lesson only when signing up the lift ticket is not included. I spoke to the ski school manager prior to their ski class and let him know that I would pay the difference for the class that included the lift tickets, which was $20 and I was told I would have to pay almost $120 for lift tickets since I signed up for the wrong class or my kids wouldn't be able to participate even though it does not say anything on the website about lift tickets not being included. I showed the staff on the website that is does not say anything about lift tickets not being included and the manager said it was implied a person from Kansas who has never been to a ski resort is supposed to know their ski lift policies without it having to be put in writing. I will never again spend money here and I recommend that people go elsewhere due to the horrible customer service. read more

Seems like the resort was not prepared for COVID. No limits on capacity means very very long lines for the lifts.

Loved it! Unexpectedly gave our son a free season pass, since he is military. Not crowded at all. Reasonable prices. Would be so so very helpful if guests had the option to use a shuttle up the hill from the bus drop off. I would have happily paid $200 to get my crew up the 2 mile hill and back down. read more

We were lucky to get equipment. The website says they open at 9, yet signs on the door state the lodge opens at 8. So get there when they open. Recommend reserving gear in advance, although some who had reserved gear and were in line were told they weren't guaranteed gear as they were running low. A bit chaotic and not clear which steps had to happen in which order. 1. Fill out forms 2. Pay for gear (and get lift tickets at the same time to avoid another line) 3. Get in line for boots and skis. They do not help with boot fitting, they assume you know how to get into the boots. Lift lines not too long, shorter at lunch time. We stayed on the blue/green hill and had an enjoyable day. Very family friendly and it was fun sharing a lift chair with people from many states. If you are gluten free, the only option for you here is tea. Bring your own safe food! read more

Ski Granby Ranch is the perfect place to take the family skiing. We came during spring break in February with our 6 year old daughter and 2 year old son and they absolutely loved it here. Granby Ranch is a fraction of the size of Winter Park, but as my kids and myself were skiing for the first time this mountain was perfect. We put my 2 year old on skis but he really wasn't having it....maybe next year. My daughter and I however were able to learn pretty quickly taking lessons. First on the "magic carpet" and then honing our skills on the short green runs Zig and Zag. GR does have blue and black runs as well for more seasoned skiiers. They also several snowboard obstacles which looked painful. We tried to do a long green run the second day but we ended up being re-routed to a pretty challenging blue run. Needless to say I'm glad the ski patrol didn't have to take me down the mountain. Despite us being rookies, all skiiers were very friendly and I didn't feel any judgement while falling down 1,000 times. One of the best things about GR is that the parking lot is very close to the lift. At Winter Park you have to lug your equipment pretty far which is a pain. Also the staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. We ended up watching the end of season festivities with a bunch of lunatics trying to ski across ice cold water. It was a blast. There is also a full service restaurant and cafeteria onsite. The restaurant has a full bar and daily happy hour specials which are great to help forget about all of your bruises like me. The bloody mary's here are chock full of items - almost enough for a meal! Overall I would highly recommend Ski Granby Ranch for anyone looking for a family friendly resort. We will definitely return to try and get the little one skiing. read more

This is a review for the skiing/snowboarding. We came here on the weekend of Super Bowl and loved the place. The full day adult lift tickets were about $50 bucks, which is awesome. Hubby and I were more advance in snow boarding than my sisters, so this place was perfect for us. The trails were pretty easy and wide to learn riding. The blue trails were wide and wasn't as steep, so it was great for me to practice carving. There's only one base camp so we didn't have to worry about the kids getting lost, the niece and nephew did a couple of runs by themselves. On the green trails at the beginning there are tunnels and mock buildings for kids to go through and even a small terrain park for kids. At the end of the day, my nephew started to go in there... so cute. On Saturday they had a great family friendly ground hog day celebration and it seems like they hold family friendly events here on holidays. We even went into the model home at Base Camp One and the amenities you get as an owner is awesome. On Sunday the resort was pretty empty, either everyone left to go back to Denver or everyone was waiting for the Super Bowl. It was pretty awesome to feel like you have the whole resort to yourself. Highly recommend coming here for skiing/snowboarding for a group who are either noobs or intermediate. read more

We showed up this past weekend to play golf. We had a 8:10a tee time. We showed up at 8:12a acknowledge we were late, apologized and told them we'd scramble on the first few holes. The pro shop worker was rude and told us they couldn't let us on and the group behind us had already tee'd off. Now, it's about 8:14 at this time. How does the group behind us tee off 4 minutes after we had a tee time? And we were told there was a tournament going on when there was only 7 cars in the parking lot and the course was practically empty. Ive played all over the states including some prestigious courses and have been 5-10 minutes late before and they had no problem with it. But I guess Granby Ranch wants to continue to lose money and be rude to their customers We gladly went to Pole Creek Golf Club 15 minutes down the road, played our round, spent over $800 on the round, food, drinks and bought a few shirts. I won't ever recommend playing golf at Granby Ranch. Stay clear of this course. read more

I would give this place a solid D+. We have travel to a lot of places, and our stay here would be one of the two worst places that we have been to. Pros: -Clean when we got here -Great and comfortable bedroom beds (these were actually impressive) -Good internet (25 up/ 10 down) -Door keypad system with code (made it easy to not need a key for everyone) -Heated outdoor pool with noodles and toys to use for kids Cons: -Old and outdated -Poor decoration -Didn't finish the paint job in the upstairs loft. Looks bad -Dryer is broken so I had to dry close out on the porch -Very small porch (5x5ish) with cheap plastic chairs which were horrible -Very bad smell in master bedroom (sewer), we had to buy air fresheners to be able to use the bathroom -Hot tub located in master bedroom (makes the room very small) and is hard to entertain others in the small area, can't sleep if others want to use the tub -Hot tub not working correctly. Not all jets work and parts broken from tub -Hot tub is VERY loud and runs random cycles and will wake you the heck up -Master bathroom and bedroom has very low lighting, very dark -NO AC in the unit, wow for hot in here -Very few outlets to use in the rooms, we are going to buy a power strip -The whole unit has very bad lighting, at night time its dark in the unit. Bring some candles or flashlights -The pans were so wore out that we couldn't properly fry an egg without making it mostly scrambled -The kitchen faucet leaks like crazy and only turns off in one location -Shower in 2nd bedroom leaks like crazy when it's used -Did I mention that the dryer didn't work?!? This unit is for 11 people and when staying a week there are clothes that need to be done and its a pain to do them. Also we had to buy our own laundry detergent -Some of the kitchen chairs are broke -There were only 2 hand towels in the unit, this was disappointing as we had chicken the first night and contaminated the towels and we couldn't dry them quickly to reuse -The rugs need to be stretched (not that huge of a deal) -Kitchen knives are absolutely dull, harder than heck to chop with them. Glad we had some of our own -Pullout beds are very uncomfortable, bring something soft to put on them -The pool needed a key to get into, however there was no key in our unit. We didn't get one until 5 days into our 7 day stay -Outdoor pool was OK, but I was a little surprised that it was completely fenced off with no view -Only grill that I seen and used was NASTY! I don't think that this thing has ever been cleaned. Can defiantly tell that they don't care about it. There was tongs but they were so gross that I took a knife after them to clean off the gunk and then brought it back to the unit to wash -Random nails found on the balcony, I picked up about 12 of them -When looking for staff, it's quite hard to find someone to help out -Smoke alarms are very sensitive, they went off often just making basic things -There also is an extra storage room that is outside our unit but we never got a key to use it. We were supposed to have it for extra stuff I would NOT recommend this place as a place to come stay. I am quite disappointed in our time here. I'm glad that we were able to leave and get out into the area so we didn't spend all our time here. For the cost, stay at a Hilton suite, you will be happier. Stay at Steamboat Springs (much larger city) or in Breckenridge. read more

Excellent place to teach your children to ski. Ya its small but the kids are going to be limited as they learn. After a day lesson which was pretty great, the kids were able to go up the mountain and by mid-second day were able to go down an easier Blue run. Plenty of terrain for them. There was sufficient terrain to keep an intermediate skier happy while they were in school. Prices are definitely better than the gold seal big resorts. Food was prices but that's par for a ski resort. Turning in rentals was disorganized and a pain taking close to an hour to accomplish. This is the biggest area of improvement they could make. I recommend this for beginners and early intermediates especially when budget is a concern. read more

After many years of thinking about it, my family and I visited Granby Ranch ski resort on December 30th. We will NOT be returning, EVER. We were greeted by a single open ticket window and a 45 minute line to even obtain our lift passes (already purchased and paid for online). Despite the line, the mountain did not ever open a second window and the line was even longer by the time we had made it through. On the mountain we found only a single operating chairlift (that's right, one lift, save for the bunny hill). At the lift, the lines extended across the entire base area (with little or no social distancing). Our wait times averaged about 45 minutes per trip. Once we finally did make it up for a run, we found sparse coverage and poor conditions, even on groomed runs. Apparently despite the fact that lift capacity is diminished by COVID restrictions, and only one lift was operating due to poor snow conditions, the resort has seen fit to continue to sell tickets as if nothing were amiss and it was operating at full capacity. There is one word for this. Greedy. No, wait, two. Shameful. This is no way to treat paying customers and no way to run a business. Please think again before spending your money at a resort like this one that cares so little about its guests. There are many other resorts that have adjusted their practices (both for COVID and for snow conditions) and are delivering a great guest experience. Shitty bike park, closed trails, overpriced. If you're spending 60 dollars on a day pass go to Crested Butte, Aspen, or Winter park and save yourself the trouble. Last time I visited, half the trails were closed. They also prioritize their weddings way more than the bike park so be prepared to wait (30min-1hour) several times each day. read more

Called to inquire about ski lessons and a man answered the phone with a simple "yup". I then asked him if he could answer questions about lessons and another "yup". My next question was do you u have availability for my trip. His response was a simple "nope" and then the click of the receiver hanging up.
