Food was disgusting! Tasted like old reheated food cooked in recycled, old oil. This place has gone downhill! They raise the prices but decrease the quality of food! I'm done with them. Aside from the fact that my order is always missing an item I paid for. They expect me to waste gas and go back to fix their mistake! I miss when restaurant owners cared about the quality of food and service.

Beef with broccoli in a rice container???

So first things first. The food, unappetizing. The beef with broccoli was slimy in a paper rice container which leaked onto my girlfriends pants. Burning hot btw. My garlic chicken? Decent I'll say that, however it was placed on top of BOTH of my sides of rice I had asked for separate. Last thing. The woman working behind the counter kept our change balled up in her hand and gave us back the coins but not the bills. We didn't say anything because we were going to leave it as a tip anyway. Needless to say I will not be coming back, and neither should you :)

I admit that I'm not a big Chinese food person. This place is pretty good, but not the best I've had.

Restaurant felt like a local neighborhood spot for local families to come in and have dinner. About 9-10 tables. I called ahead and informed them that we had a party of 7-8 coming in. The front desk guy was super cool! Great customer service. He accommodated us and things were set up quick. He said over the phone he would take care of us and he did. Appreciate you! Food 4/5 - it was my first time having Nam Khao at a restaurant. Other previous times have been home made. I'm not sure how I feel about paying $19 for this dish lol it was a good portion but a little hefty. The wings were good but I still prefer Simply Khmer. My wife had pad thai and requested it to be extra spicy. In our experience at other restaurants, when you ask for spicy, it's never spicy. Lanxang does it spicy and we quickly figure that out lol it still packed a good punch of flavor! Overall, I would come back to try their other dishes. I want to try their papaya salad and boat noodle soup. Will definitely come back!

Two…read moredinners and a lunch in the past year or so have had a mix of great, near great, just okay, and iffy, so I'd say 3.5 is the right number, but leaning higher because it's definitely better than the current rating. Spareribs on the Bone: A very large serving for $16.50, painted red and additionally drizzled with honey, which drips into the bottom of the bowl for dipping. Tried twice: one time elite, one time near-elite. Good old-time flavor. Slightly firm bite that still has tenderness and moistness even aside from the glaze. Chicken Wings in Black Bean Sauce: Dark, bumpy, scalding hot, and relentlessly fierce, with unenhanced, undiluted, wonderful black bean flavor. Good quantity, good size, and nice marinade flavor under the sauce, but zero crispness. Messily delicious, and the potential is there to be near-elite if even only somewhat crisp. But as served, a little above average. Lobster Sauce: Dark and strong flavored. Near-elite. Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Big pieces, puffy and crispy, with not the greatest meat-to-batter ratio, but still solid enough. Standard issue red sauce, though nicely done. Overall, a bit above average but not noteworthy. Pork Strips (on the same combo): No other way to say it: dry, dry, and more dry. On the other hand, still average, because pork strips are usually dry. Duck sauce helped. Egg Roll (on the same combo): Very, very good, possibly near-elite. Crisp shell, mostly celery, nice moistness, very detectable pork. Pork Fried Rice (as full orders and on a combo): Mixed results, with two out of the three looking and tasting very tired, with light grains, light flavor, and even lightly colored/flavored pork. Much fresher and brighter another time. Boneless Ribs: These were excellent, and most likely cooked entirely from scratch after I ordered it. Bright red shellac, nice porky flavor, extremely fresh and juicy, not too sweet (though sweet is certainly fine on boneless, a la Ray's in Needham). Elite for sure. Quality runs the full gamut, but old-time, somewhat divey atmosphere helps if that's your thing. Service isn't polished, but very pleasant.

I will have to say the people were very nice. But I didn't go there to talk to nice people, I went for Chinese food. We thought we would try it due to the great reviews on Yelp. I called them prior as I wanted to know if they had Subgum Chow Mein. Subgum Chow Mein is chopped vegetable versus thin strips of vegetables. They said they could do that no problem. So I called in my order. Went to pick up and asked for red sauce for the chicken fingers we ordered. They said it was on the table. There was no red sauce on the table. I cant imagine what their sweet and sour chicken is like without red sauce...Take a look at the four horrible looking dried out chicken fingers we were given. My Subgum Chow Mein was not Subgum at all. It was strips in a brown sauce. I tried it anyway and it was horrible. Just horrible. The Boneless Spare Ribs reminded me of beef jerky they were so dried out. I ate some of the Pork Fried Rice as it was my only option. The other dinner had Beef Fried Rice which did not taste beefy at all. Huge pieces of beef that were like leather. The chicken fingers were horrible and really dried out and horrible tasting. The Chicken Chow Mein was subpar at best. No flavor. There is no way this place is a hidden gem. Hidden yes. Gem no.

Egg Roll: Golden, crunchy outside, crunchy inside, and moist. Mostly cabbage, with celery and an unusual flavor from five spice but closer to allspice or nutmeg. No protein I could discern. "And for that reason," as the Shark Tank investors like to say, I'm pegging this one as merely average, but a very interesting average. I'd still get it again. "Andy" Wings: An appetizer offering a spicy alternative to the regular wings, striking me as what Kowloon's Saugus Wings could be if Kowloon still cared enough to put effort in. Scoldingly hot, fully coated, lightly breaded, bumpily crisp even under the thick hot sauce, and flanked by an assortment of hot peppers, onions, and I think minced garlic. The sauce blended oyster or black bean sauce with garlic, sugar, and heat. Impressive preparation on the wings, "Frenching" them into lollipops to expose the ends of the bones (no meat is removed; they push it up to make a plumper formation). I've seen that before with the drum parts, but here they did that even with the flats. Inner meat not quite juicy but definitely moist. Elite for sure. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Ordered requesting sauce on the side per my eating buddy. The chicken fingers were fairly standard (as are roughly 80 percent of the fingers out there), so no praise, no faults. Meat-to-batter typically on the somewhat low side. Batter flirting with puffy while still crisp. Sauce closer to ruby or brick in color than typical, while also closer to straight sweet than sweet and sour. Zero glop. Nice inclusion of onion and pepper in addition to the pineapples. Overall, average. Pork Fried Rice: Not the 1970s by any means, but probably the best PFR I've had in the past year. I've had darker in the past year but not better. Good feel that felt better--moist to the brink of greasy but not quite--than the color would suggest. Onion, egg, bean sprouts all included. Pork nuggetry impressively dense. Took me back to the fried rice glory days of my childhood. Came back a week later, tried it again, and it was even better. Great flavor, great texture, unquestionably elite. Spareribs: The wings and rice arrived first and the server said the spareribs would be out in a bit. For this reason, I'm guessing they felt guilty that the ribs weren't ready and brought them out possibly too soon. So I'll start with the biggest flaw: the surfaces were light on char and lighter on crust, feeling like they weren't really ready yet. That said, there was a lot to like, most notably the very meaty cut, the scored surface, and the gushing juices. Pinkish red glaze very lightly applied, with a brown puddle from a different flavorizer underneath. A little on the fatty side, but another few minutes under the broiler would take care of that too. Gonna say above average this time, but I can envision another try coming in at near-elite. Chicken Wings: Had to give the basic version a test drive on visit 2. Six jointed pairs (drums and flats) to the order, so 12 pieces for $12.95, barely more than a buck a wing. I'm not into breaded wings, but these were breaded, although lightly. Decent crunch, but not much going on flavorwise on the surface. Inside, fully moist to juicy and noticeable flavor from five spice and maybe even hints of curry. Well above average but not elite or near-elite. Good enough to get again. The scorecard: two visits, six items, two average, one above average, one well above average, and two elite.
