Based on one visit. For a hotel of this price, I expected more. Pluses (+) *Beach access on the Atlantic *Multiple pools and rooftop bar with view of Miami *Rooms:Private balconies, Larger in size, Comfortable pillows and bed and Double bathrooms with tiled showers, luxury feel. *Generally friendly staff Minuses (-) *Slow check in *Room not ready upon arrival (we were a few hours early but many in our group did not have rooms after the check in time). *Breakfast was not as smooth as expected, and a bit annoying to tell the room number for seemingly no reason as it has to be written on the receipt anyway. *Long elevator wait times *High prices for anything *Tip included and then blank for additional tip. I stayed as part of a corporate event and stayed four days and three nights. A large conference room and several smaller rooms were rented as part of the event. We ate breakfast there each day and ate dinner one night and lunch on two days as part of the event. The food was generally pretty good. The lunch and dinners were buffets, the breakfast was table order. Our breakfast was confusing with three people stopping by and we were asked our room number multiple times including when we arrived.....only to have to write it on the receipt. Complete with included tip and a blank for another tip if we chose. Elevators wait was long as there were only three. Pluses and minuses capture the stay pretty well. Absolutely Loved this hotel It was beautiful and so open and the decor was gorgeous. There was a bar just down the main entrance and a wonderful restaurant we had breakfast. The room was a suite with 2 bathrooms and ocean and pool views. The 2 main pools.were on the first floor for the family section and had this beautiful garden. Out by the beach we had umbrellas and chairs and of course food and drink service. We went upstairs to the adult pool. The rooftop views alone were breath taking and there was a bar and whole seating and vibe area just to hang out. You go up some stairs and this is where all the adults come to relax and play. We had our own private shaded cabana. The service was immaculate and drinks and food were served quickly. We had a cheese pizza which was outstanding and an order of guacamole and chips..absolutely delicious and my favorite snack. I can go on and on about this hotel. So beautiful, clean, many restaurant options outside and just a pure relaxing and pleasureful hotel. Definite must stay again. read more

We took a little staycation to celebrate our birthdays. The minute you walk in to the lobby you immediately feel relaxed and the scent is amazing (I tried to buy it but they don't sell it) The rooms are so wonderful, so clean, ours had two bathrooms, a sitting room, fridge and king size bed with a phenomal view. Everything is so relaxed and so beautiful. The best part though is the talent. The team is so knowledgeable, kind, educated pleasant, helpful... the list goes on. Especially, we would like to thank Noelia Guzman, Miguel Angel and Ruben at the front desk who were so kind and patient with us. Antoine at security was also so helpful ,and so kind. Maybe the worst hotel ever. Staff, other than the front desk, they were awesome, were outright rude. From the conseirge to the house keepers, they were just rude. Terrible at $545 per night - when we went to our room on the 5th floor it smelled like armpit body odor- then there was a huge coffee pot spill in the hallway with trash as we walked to our room there was hair all over the sink like someone just shaved and left their q tips on the floor. There was no housekeeping service and when I would call to request towels/kleenex/toilet paper the staff was rude and never came. I had to chase housekeeping carts and request items - never got any service. Do not stay here and the restaurants in the area are not good at all. We left a day early and will never be back - they refused to refund us even though we had a terrible experience. Over priced and not worth your hard earned money. read more

What a shame. This should be a 5 start hotel it is beautiful in a great location Surfside / Bal Harbor. But they are cutting corners everywhere. We stayed 3 days and then NEVER CLEANED THE ROOMS our entire stay. when we called to ask them to come clean they said they were sending someone right away. They said this 3x a day for 3 days and no one ever came to clean the room. The other families we spoke to had the same experience. I think they do this on purpose - they just don't bother to clean the rooms. Unheard of in a hotel especially one that is supposed to be so posh. Its actually shocking. We had a terrible experience here for multiple reasons. I have reached out to the hotel via their website and have received no response to resolve anything. To start, the valet broke the driver side mirror on my vehicle, and said it would be fixed before I left. This didn't happen, which meant I had to drive 10+ hours unsafely because I literally couldn't see out of it to return home. Not to mention having to leave my vehicle at the hotel so that they would have access to it for the repair (which again, didn't happen) I was forced to Uber for most of my vacation, costing me quite a bit of money. I was put in a room with no ocean view, even though that is what I paid for. I can understand that mistakes happen, but the manager on duty that night told me, "they are completely aware of the view being completely blocked" in that room, as well as others on floor 3. So they just don't care to provide what you pay for. Instead you have to call them out on it for a resolution, and then get moved to a dirty room. When I checked out at 8 am, there was not a single manager on the property. This means I couldn't get anything in writing to fulfill the verbal promises from the valet staff to reimburse me for fixing my vehicle. As well, I would avoid getting your car valet parked here, I noticed that the valet key box is unlocked and often unattended. TLDR Valet damaged my vehicle, I was put in the wrong room, dirty room and management does not care. In all truth, I have lots of reviews. I am pretty easy to please, but this place completely misses the mark in every level. read more

Horrific hotel that resembled a murder scene in the room. 1) patio door had blood on the handle 2) wall behind the bed had some other bodily fluid all over it 3) the floor was sooo dirty we had to wear shoes at all times otherwise our feet were covered in dirt While the instagram and tik tok videos had me sold, we could not wait to check out. We walked out less than 12 hours later and no one even questioned why we departed so quickly! Only hotel I've ever had to pay up front for the entire balance of our stay and now I know why!!! Unfortunately, we are extremely disappointed with our stay and customer service at the grand beach hotel Surfside. My partner and I stayed in a room adjacent to people who threw 20+ person parties in their room and on the balcony until the very early hours of the morning. Thus we barely slept 2 of the 5 nights out of our stay. On Friday night, the noise started around 3am and continued past 9am. We called the hotel at 6:12am, 7:45am, and 9:18am to express the noise concerns. Security spoke with the tenants but the noise did not cease. We went to the front desk the following morning, and spoke with a very nice front desk staff member. She apologized for the situation, and assured us that management would look into this further and address the situation. Unfortunately, no follow up occurred. On Saturday night, the noise, again, started at 2am. My partner went and talked to the front desk around 2:30am and they sent security up. However the noise still did not stop. We called again at 4:54am and 5:26am and then they were removed by the authorities. It's extremely disappointing that this situation continued the way it did without management intervening appropriately. We are also disappointed that management did not address this with us after the first night, and that we had to bargain for a reduced bill. We do not feel the small reduction from our bill of two resort fees is sufficient to correct the terrible experience we had. We lost two nights of sleep, as well as significant vacation time lost to catching up on sleep. There were also many things that were dissatisfactory about the resort amenities (ie hot tubs not working on the ground floor, children in the adult-only pool). Further, the customer service representative we spoke with on Friday night was rude and dismissive on the phone. We welcome management to contact us and better address this situation in good faith. read more

Grand Beach Hotel Surfside is a pleasant hotel with luxury pricing and midrange rooms. The entryway and pool decks are both quite impressive and well maintained. However, the rooms themselves could use a refitting--perhaps on account of the past touch-up being done half-heartedly. The beds are comfortable and the furniture is a mix of comfortable chairs and grease-stained accent pieces. Chipped mirrors, paint smears on the tables, chairs, and TV all detracted from a compact but crisp room design. "Sunset Rooms" have balconies overlooking Surfside and Miami. The eclectic juxtaposition of tropical palm trees and rooftop air conditioning units nestled next to defunct satellite dishes seems fitting for the balcony and the hotel as a whole. Unfortunately, what should have been a welcoming respite at the end of the day felt much less relaxing; pigeon feathers and droppings surround the rusted outside table, making it easy to pass up sitting outside. The hotel offered a suite of amenities more fitting of the $300 a night price tag than the rooms themselves. The second floor features a gym, and there are two sets of pools and spas. On the ground floor, behind the hotel, there are relaxing, shaded "family" pools, and on the rooftop, a Pool-Bar for adults only. These areas, as well as the downstairs lobby and bar, seem to be the the parts of the hotel which have received adequate upkeep, where so much else has been neglected at this hotel. On checkout, more of this hotel's apparent decay became apparent. Not only were the facilities outside of the sparkling lobby in a ramshackle state--so is management. My group arrived third in line and gave our ticket to retrieve our car from the $40 a night Valet. After waiting 40 minutes we only got our car by walking into the garage, taking the keys off an unguarded rack, and driving out. It was quite frustrating to wait that long, and entirely unnerving that anyone would have been able to grab the keys and drive off with whatever car they wanted. Each of the six colleges I was traveling with also noticed unauthorized charges on our bills. We spoke to management, who reported that a "mistake" was made in the booking, and promised to remove the charges. Two months later, I found the charges are still on my card, and I've had to open a dispute with my credit card company to remove the unauthorized charges. This hotel wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth the money while I was there. I would rate it three Stars, but took another off for the fraudulent billing and chaotic, unsafe Valet management. read more

Absolutely poor service. The hotel is nice but they cannot deliver any customer service. We needed to call room service 3 separate days since our room was not cleaned. When I complained they made me feel like we did something wrong. When I asked to speak to the hotel manager they never gave me a call. When we arrived we got a text from a virtual consigerge. This hotel has horrible customer service. I had a trip planned there next month with a friend for her daughter's bachelorette weekend but my friend had an unfortunate cancer diagnosis requiring immediate surgery and cancellation of our trip. Despite the trip being weeks away (giving them plenty of time to reserve it for someone else) and the awful reason that we need to cancel, the hotel refuses to refund any money and is insisting on full pay. It's heartless. I rarely leave reviews but this is pretty despicable/disappointing and the kind of thing I would want to know about a business and its values before choosing to stay there. read more

Amazing place- I can't rave enough about this place. My family and I have been going to thus resort for several years now. Still after each visit, we can't wait to go back the next time. First of all it's a nice quiet place to relax away from the loudness with your family. The service is impeccable. Every members of staff that I encountered staying here has been absolute pleasure and so kind. The food at the hotel restaurant is really satisfying as well! Breakfast was my favorite with their French Toast- and our server Etty has been the best server I had ever experienced in my life. It's really hard not to tip her extra. I'm also extremely particular when it comes to cleanliness of bedding. This place had so far the cleanest bed sheets without any lints or dusts. I really hope they keep their standard that high for bedding cleanliness in the future as well. Definitely will be returning next year as well! read more

I have now idea why people want to stay here. Parking is $34; a small cappuccino and a brownie $15. Give me a break. What bothered me most was the attitude at the front desk. They need training in customer service. Took 20 minutes of computer clicking to check out my ticket for valet parking after waiting in line for 20 min. When it was my turn in line the receptionist directed me to her colleague who was busy. More waiting. When I pointed out the inefficiency of their process the receptionist had no idea how to respond; just a "sorry". Unfortunate that people pay these prices and put up with this. We recently stayed here with our 7 kids and had a great time. Its definitely a five star hotel in terms of decor, world class customer service and amenities but it was a bit too adult for the kind of trip we were on. The pools were small, both on the lower level and on the rooftop - not very child/teen friendly and both gave off a more adult only vibe. Its the perfect place for me and my husband to return alone or with friends. The hotel reminds me of one on the Vegas strip - very clean and modern with a constant flow of lightly scented air. My husband and I like the simplicity of the decor and all the artwork on the walls. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. I liked that they all had two bathrooms. I especially enjoyed the balcony views from all of our rooms. The proximity to the beach was a hit and the team at the towel/chair station was very polite and helpful. The lounge chairs were probably the most comfortable of all the hotel chairs I've laid on in Miami - nice choice. While there is ample seating/lounge space on the grounds, too much of it is shaded and doesn't allow for those who want to enjoy the sun without going out to the sand/beach area. Customer service was outstanding and we appreciated the anniversary tray of fruit and wine - very thoughtful and delicious. Thank you!! Valet and concierge service were very helpful during our stay as well. Parking was a bit expensive but we were happy to have the option to self park across the street. I participated in the yoga class on the rooftop and the instructors were great. That was a nice perk. It would be great if a class could also be offered later in the day for those who aren't early risers. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to adults, not families. read more

I am in complete disgust of this hotel. I'm genuinely not even sure where to begin as I had so many bad experiences during my six night stay. I made a reservation through Agoda, and booked a Double Standard Suite overlooking an ocean view on the 10th floor. I was so excited as I was celebrating a big milestone for myself and for my brother and heard that this was a good hotel through a family friend. When I got to the hotel, it was packed and it seemed like they were super busy (which was totally fine). There was attitude being thrown my way from the moment I got to the front desk staff. It seemed like they were just trying to move through the line but without the courtesy or respect that customer service typically comes with. When I showed them my reservation, they looked pretty confused: the room that was booked was a Single Suite with a king size bed. Under any other circumstance, I really wouldn't mind! But because I was there was with my brother, it needed to be the Double Standard Suite that I booked. Instead of remedying the situation, they double downed and said there was nothing they could do. I had to get the manager involved, and while she thankfully got me a room with two beds, it had no view, was on the third floor, and it felt like they were doing ME a favor (can you imagine, a hotel room that I paid for!). When I asked if there was any availability for the room I had originally booked, they told me no and to be grateful that I had a room with two beds. This was 30 minutes of me being in this hotel. When I came back the next day to see if there was any possibility to switch rooms, I spoke to a woman named Rosa. I have never felt so disrespected in my entire life. Her tone was nasty, unapologetic, and mean. Anything that I asked, she would instantly shut down. She laughed at my questions, answered me in a demeaning tone, and looked at me as if she's never been more disgusted in her entire life. I walked away almost leaving the hotel (this is honestly what I should've done in the first place). It took everything in me to not start crying after my conversation with her. I decided to take it as a loss and keep the room, as I just couldn't deal with the rude staff anymore, and I wanted to enjoy my hard earned vacation. During the rest of my stay, there was a night we had a thunder and lightning warning - totally fine, this is Miami after all! It ended up flooding, and I woke up at 330am and couldn't fall asleep until 5am because the dryer was BLASTING right outside of my room. Lastly, when I called for a late check out (on a Tuesday) I was given an extra hour (when I had asked for two) and I was told if I stayed an extra hour, I would be charged for a full extra night. Talk about AMAZING customer service!! I literally cannot say enough bad things about this hotel. Please, if you're thinking of staying here - DON'T DO IT. The ONLY saving grace of this hotel was the beach team. It truly felt like a different hotel that I was staying at. Everyone, and I mean everyone, made me feel like a queen. Rick, Nick, Ariel, Luke, Carlos, and Wilner always greeted me with a smile, a friendly hello, and always stopped by to ask how I was doing. It was a beautiful hotel on the outside. Once inside, I discovered that in all of its simplicity of ecru and silver décor on the main floor, it was quite grand as well. Since I did not make the travel arrangements, everything was a surprise to me. When we drove up the driveway I was immediately impressed. It did not take long to realize that other than the superficial, things were about to go downhill. When we arrived, we had to take our own luggage into the building when there was clearly a valet attendant outside and a concierge desk located at the front of the hotel. Considering that we had rolling luggage, we did not fret too much. Aside from the luggage situation, we were thankfully able to check-in early because our flight arrived way before the designated check-in time. As earlier stated, the common areas of the hotel were beautiful. I enjoyed the open concept of the hotel because everything could be seen at a glance. I thought all aspects of the hotel presented nicely. The bar area was impressive, the seating areas were clean, and the café and restaurant were in top condition throughout our stay. The pool area was nice. There was towel service and flavored/regular water available at both pool areas during hours of operation. The ocean view from the hotel was phenomenal. In terms of aesthetics, the hotel delivered. The rooftop pool area had breathtaking views from every angle. If this hotel was rated on presentation alone, four stars would probably be deemed appropriate. As for customer service delivery, it was inconsistent. Some staff were very friendly and made every attempt to ensure satisfaction, while others should revisit and/or be sent to hospitality industry customer service training. Aesthetics are an important feature, but the overall experience is paramount. Some staff were way too aggressive in terms of trying to make more money than thinking about the customer service. The room was nice. The room appeared superficially clean, but I am unsure about the overall level of cleanliness. The chairs were stained and some of the surfaces were not clean to my standards. The television in the sitting area continuously blinked in and out and would sometimes stay off for two to five minutes at a time. The room walls were paper thin. One of our neighbors had what appeared to be three or four screaming kids, who were extremely noisy. At a few points, they made so much noise that I thought they were running up and down the hotel hallway. I soon realized that the noise was coming from their room and the rooms simply did not offer much in terms of noise protection. The restaurant was visually elegant. The first and only time we went there for dinner, we were the only patrons. I was a bit concerned but we ate there in spite of it. The food was overpriced with skimpy portions. I am glad that we had a decent lunch at Flanigan's around the corner because I would have been ravenous after those portions. The food was not bad but what we ordered was pretty basic. We decided at that moment, no matter how visually appealing the restaurant, we would not patronize the restaurant for the remainder of the trip. During the entire trip, I never saw the restaurant filled to capacity or even half-capacity. We took advantage of some of the area restaurants, the grocery store about one block over and some restaurants further into Miami Beach. Other than the beach, there was not much to do in the area. We ventured out in a two-block radius in all directions and found little to nothing fun to do. Of course, there was some high-end shopping within walking distance, but I was not on a shopping trip. We went to a few restaurants near the hotel and then ventured further south to really find anything going on. The area was a little reserved. We kept hearing the entire time that it was a really conservative area. We soon discovered that it was way too conservative for our taste. Next time, we will stick with South Beach. read more

I see a lot of bad reviews. I have to say for us this was not our experience. We have traveled enough to wish there were more amenities...but it was lovely. All the staff that we did have interactions with here very nice, personable, helpful etc. We had lunch upon arrival...a little slow, but the food was good (the menu could be a bit larger) We had breakfast there a couple of times. It was very good and fresh. The pools WOULD be fantastic except they are facing the wrong way to get all day sun. We are from chicago so one of our goals this weekend was to get some sun. We did go to the roof top pool so that helped (when Miami had sun). The beach was lovely and well maintained and manned to help with chairs and towels. Very relaxing listening to the waves. Our room was very nice. We had an ocean view in the corner with a HUGE wrap around deck. We had TWO bathrooms. That was very nice to have. Bed was comfortable. Good coffee maker. And hot water tea pot for tea. The common area was clean and very busy. Bellman were great. We had to store bags with them 2x. Front desk was helpful. The outdoor space was very nice and designed well. Lost of sandy area, chairs, loungers etc. Here is my ONLY complaint. The chair/lounge chair cushions need to be replaced. They are stained, ripped and hold water. It is very annoying if you are in clothes and you sit and get wet. The location of the hotel is nice. It is a block away from a Publix. It was nice to have as we could purchase wine, coffee and water for our stay. It is a couple of blocks from Bal Harbour shops which was nice to walk to and eat. read more

Where to start . We have stayed at the Grand beach hotel several times in the past and wanted to stay again as we loved it there but after reading the bad reviews about cleaning etc I was dubious about staying again as this was a very special holiday for me and my family . Mira from Grand beach reached out to me via social media to assure me things are so much better now . So I booked a double sea front suite for me and my family. When we arrived we were showed to a suite on the 9th floor we took a look a round, it was a bit grubby in areas , badly stained cushions , dried blood on the round sun lounger , not a great first impression and we decided it was a bit high for us so we moved to the 5th floor same suite , same grubby feeling, holes in sheets , used plastic cups on balcony , dirty grout in bathroom, stained lamp shade , no bulbs in lamps over pictures , so so disappointed. I had several emails back and forth with Mira , the gist of them was it was my fault for changing suites as she had asked the one on the 9th floor to be deep cleaned ( bearing in mind the blood stained lounger ) she sent the head of housekeeping to see us as we were getting ready for dinner he asked if everything was ok , well what are we supposed to do spoil the holiday for everyone by taking and hour to show him round the suite to point out how grubby it was and it wasn't just dirt that could be quickly remedied it need hours of cleaning , we had the sofa bed made up one night and they emptied the bins but then left it in the hallway of the suite and surely especially in the current climate every suite should be super clean not just when a special request is made . The balconies below us were covered in cigarette butts and rubbish which to be fair the hotel got cleaned up . I asked to meet Mira but she "isn't on site " so how can she know what's going on . I'm sure Mira thinks she tried her best to makes us happy but the bottom line is that Grand beach hotel is no longer the jewel in Surfsides crown , it is grubby , run down lacking attention to detail. We spent most of our evenings at The Four seasons just down the road which is a fine example of customer service and cleanliness . Grand Beach states on their website that the roof top bar is open till 11pm week days and 12pm weekends but don't rely on that as if it's not busy they just close it any time they want , we went up there to get a drink after a great dinner at The four seasons at 10pm they had cleared all the bar away and we were shocked a very nice bar man offered a drink but said we could only have one as management had closed it , we were disappointed but were happy he offered us one drink , whilst he was getting our drinks a young male manager came out and started telling him off in front of us , the poor bar man was only trying to help a customer and the website says open till 11 , my husband took issue with this and pointed out how rude the manager was being just another example of how standards have dropped at Grand beach hotel , we will never return there again and will spend our hard earned money else where and might I suggest you do the same unless you like a grubby rude environment. read more

I made an account just to post this review, which shows how much id like to warn anyone who reads this. Staff was nice but the hotel was extremely dirty. We reserved a two room suite and arrived at check-in and were told to wait as it wasn't cleaned yet. Not a huge deal as we decided to walk around the hotel. When our room was ready, we went in to a gross smell and messiness everywhere. Crumbs and food on couches. When we asked house keeping to vacuum, they seemed confused. Their carts didn't have vacuums but lint rollers. They tried but just brushed off the couch to the floor and gave us a thumbs up and left as they didn't speak English. It was mind blowing. 2 out of the 4 toilets were dirty & not cleaned and by dirty, I mean skid marks and everything. One of the trash cans in the middle bathroom had what looked like left over throw up down the side. Balcony still had trash and food from previous guests and dirty towels ever where. The pool was closed because of some sanitation issue. We left within an hour and found a different hotel. Do not go here. The manager is very young and seems to try but it's clear he can't get any help keeping it clean. He tried to offer us another room and inspect it with us, but we declined. So again, he tried to do the best he could under the circumstances. read more

We loved our weekend getaway to The Grand Beach Hotel in Surfside. We were greeted and treated so kindly by staff. The amenities are clean, updated and trendy. We loved the rooftop pool which felt more secluded with amazing views. Our room balcony (4th floor corner) was HUGE. The rooms were clean and comfortable as well. Got in at 2:30 check in isn't till 4 pm and they don't even try to accommodate. I emailed in advance for the baby crib and she was asleep in my arms for 2 hrs. Someone came over to tell me if I wanted a room I could pay an upgrade fee. I came to the ocean around 5 and got chairs for 10$ each they took them away after 40 min because they said they were closing and still charged us! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! Exterior is nice, staff is far from helpful, AGAIN STAFF IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. Upon check in, witnessed staff member bathing in parking deck under open hose. At check in witnessed guest fighting and loud and ended up taking altercation outside. Upon check in my card was swiped over 5x with staff member stating it was due to faulty equipment. Upon arrival to room hallway carpet had an array of noticeable stains, furniture in room thrown together, cushions did not fit couch, end tables stacked together oddly, dirty appliances, mold in shower, towels dated, bathroom floor dirty. Was told the I was given a room with a view, upon opening patio balcony was covered in palm trees and birds started entering room. Bathroom had mold growing and various areas, and sink would not drain. Was told there was no manager on duty to address concerns by a young front desk assistant. I can say the community is nice, presentation upon check in is nice as well, quiet community, but for $400/nt I would stay somewhere else. Stay away!!!! Apparently this hotel has continuous a/c issues and the rooms are not properly cleaned! When addressing the a/c issue to the manager Fernanda, she was annoyed and spoke in a rude and uncaring manner. She also tried to say that the a/c is working at full capacity, but it wasn't working at all!!!! I've been to numerous hotels and never have been treated or talked to so horrible. There was a few guest during my stay that said this would be there last time booking at this hotel. They are quick to take your money, but then when its time to address a complaint or an issue, they don't want to hear it and will pretend that the issue will be addressed! This is not how you keep or treat customers!!I really wish I would've read reviews prior to booking with this hotel. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere! read more

My friends and I came here on a group vacation. We stayed in the "West" building, which was cheaper and still had a rooftop pool. Beach access was awesome. The ground floor pool in the main building may seem beautiful and tranquil in photos, but really it's overrun by children and hard to relax there. We also got incredibly slow service by that pool; we ordered our food around 2:45pm on a Thursday afternoon and didn't get it until about 3:30pm. At one point we realized our food was taking so long and raised the little flag by our chairs, which is meant to get the attention of the staff, and no one came by. See below for food review. The gym is really nice, basically empty, and has a view of the pool and ocean. They have free baskets of apples everywhere! That was nice. Overall service is pretty spot-on. The neighborhood isn't quite the heart of South Beach, but within a block are tons of restaurants so we definitely had options for eating out and we weren't really looking for a partying/clubbing type of vacation anyway. Hotel looks fantastic from the lobby but doesn't provide the basic things you expect from a hotel- such as service, a room without constant construction noise or even a room without someone else already in it! That said- if you can avoid the front desk you actually have a chance of a nice stay. The pools and restaurants are great and you can quickly forget about how badly run the front desk is... until you check out! The hotel ends your stay with another bad taste of front desk when you examine your bill and find charges you didn't order resulting in you needing to talk to the one person at the front desk again.. 5 people in line means you will spend another 45 minutes waiting to talk to someone to try sort it out. The Grand Beach Hotel Surfside is located on the east side of Collins between 94th and 95th (beach side). Surfside is a small community located just south of Bal Harbor across the Broad Causeway from the mainland and north of Miami Beach. The thing I like about the area around Surfside is it's sort of a quieter, more peaceful version of South Beach. It's not as crowded and commercialized as Sunny Isles or Hollywood but it still has the immediate basics nearby along with a nearby shopping mall albeit a high end mall in the Shops at Bal Harbor. The Grand Beach sort of fits that description. It's a building that doesn't overpower the other buildings around it in fact Surfside while having high rises is more demure compared to Sunny Isles just up A1A within sight with their little mini skyscraper skyline going on. While I didn't stay at this hotel, we spent some time visiting as my cousin lives just two buildings down at Spiaggia and goes to the Grand Beach regularly whether to get a bite to eat on the main floor or a drink at the bar on the roof. What the hotel does offer is their menu items delivered to the beach and in our case they were willing to deliver it just a little further down the beach. Since we were already set up in front of Spiaggia we had gone to the Grand Beach to put in an order and it was convenient that we didn't have to wait for it and that they were willing to deliver it locally beachside at no extra cost. I had ordered a chicken club and my cousin had ordered fried calamari while my aunt asked for a crab salad. The lobby restaurant faces the entrance to the beach while in the lobby there's an open seating area. As I lay hear awake, between the sheets made of something similar to cardboard box, at 2:30 am. I figure I may as well write a yelp review. I wanted to be in the area, and this is the only hotel that is luxurious and not $600 a night, but I may decide to go home early since I'm so freakin miserable. The fridge makes such a loud noise, I can't sleep. I called someone and they pushed it in and it made less of a noise but basically this is my ambient noise. Oh, also the fridge not supposed to keep food cold. Only goes down to about 55-52 degrees. It's not consistent. Sometimes it's 58 after an entire night of not being opened, and sometimes it's at 49 degrees that delights me and makes me hope my kids will be able to have milk with their cereal in the morning. (Although optimal fridge temp is 35). I called and asked about it and they said it's meant to store drinks cuz it's a mini bar. If that is so, that is so. I certainly expected to be able to have some basic food in the fridge and not just soda. The pool is great but packed with kids from this hotel and the west hotel plus I think they sell day passes to locals (I could be wrong). I can't ever get an umbrella at the beach. They run out very early even if it's an amenity I pay for with the resort fee. My assumption is that they don't mind if the pool is packed Bec they have the rooftop pool for adults only. The lobby is fresh and clean. Smells good. The rooms are spacious which is why I chose the hotel in the first place The a/c shut off in middle of the night so when I did fall asleep a few nights ago I woke up an hour later sweaty to realize that the ac had shut down out of the blue. There are 2 screens in the room but if I put the second one on they both shut down and put my kids in a frenzy so I don't watch anything myself. We had a different room the first few nights and this happened. We switched rooms but it happened again. I can't switch rooms again with 2 children. I mean, it takes time to organize the stuff when you're here with kids. The cafe serves great coffee. They charge you a tip even for black coffee that they basically just pressed a button to fill the cup. Then they tell you you can take off the tip. No. I won't be taking off the tip. That seems rude. Just don't put it there automatically. I'm supposed to be here for 21 nights although I think I may cut my visit short if I can't find a diff hotel, so I figure hey.. I need to wash laundry. Let me check that laundry price list. $8 to wash a swim short $4 a pair of socks if I recall correctly. Jesus. It is 3:00 am and I'm cranky Bec of this freakin fridge noise and uncomfortable bed. But I mean, I should be sleeping on my vacation now but I ain't There goes. Next time I'll have to choose a different vacation spot. read more

This hotel broke every health & safety rule during my 4 night stay & I'm still in shock over the experience and the fact that no-one in managemnet took the time to reach out to me & apologise for the dire situation the hotel was in. It was in April 2021 and I've been dealing with Amex since the stay to try & get a resolution. Not only did the hotel have a 'BROKEN ELEVATOR' during the stay, but I had to move rooms, with 4 suitcases due to noise, filth, and a family of 11 people in the small room next door!....who were 'COOKING' & having a party!!! The fact the 1 of the 2 elevators were broken, meant people were getting frustrated, pushing & shoving and at times, with over 10 people were cramming into 1 elevator, during the pandemic!!... The 2nd room I was moved to, had a Man yelling at people on the phone, most of the day, he made threats when I asked him kindly if he could be a little more quiet. Security had to come & give him a warning......I could go on. There was no peace on the balcony as the poor design had the noisy 'air con' machine and unpleasant to hear...... I could go on & on..... (Below are images of 'SANITISED ROOM'), which was a health Hazzard, plus, a video of AFTER I had moved rooms again, & the Man in the next room yelling on the phone most of the day. The hotel violated every Covid 19 code, allowing, at times, over 10 people in the rooms day & night. Over filling the elevators constantly. The hotel was completely understaffed, most guests were complaining, & customer service & front desk staff, security were overwhelmed. At times, one could be on hold for up to 1 hour to speak to the front desk. There was always a 'different manager/supervisor' on duty, and no-one appeared over the age of 30. The wait time even in person to speak to someone at the front desk, was a joke! The noise, filth, smell of weed, elevators not working. But the worst, was the layers of grime, dust on the vent, which clearly hadn't been cleaned, wiped or sanitised during a PANDEMIC! There were dark hairs in the sink & in the leaking shower, I could go on, but its too disturbing. Im guessing the manager didn't admit having call a security guard to the floor when the angry Man on the floor was threatening guests. Please be aware of this, and the hotel room walls are like paper, so you WILL hear your neighbouring rooms. Im sad to say this was the WORST hotel experience I've ever had. The Grand has the Sky Bar on the 12th floor. It has views of the town and the bay and a happy hour that goes to 7, where drinks are 35% off. I went with two girlfriends and Kal greeted us promptly and asked our names, then remembered them all night, as well as what we were drinking. He was very friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. He also made a fantastic mango margarita. If we had gone up one level, we could have accessed the adult only swimming pool, which has beach views. Maybe another night! After a few hours at the bar we decided to head downstairs to the restaurant. It has tables inside and outside, beach side. We went outside. It was gorgeous, but they need some live music! They have a nice drinks menu and a great food one. We all ordered flatbreads - I got a salmon one, one friend got the grilled chicken one and my other friend picked the short rib BBQ with jalapeños. They were all fantastic. The bread was perfectly toasted and they were piled high with ingredients. And only $13 each! Very reasonable price considering its a hotel restaurant. Stayed at Grand Beach Hotel Surfside for my anniversary last year with my boyfriend and was so surprised by what an amazing experience we had. The room was very clean and spacious, we felt so comfortable. Not to mention, the staff was extremely helpful and accommodated us so nicely. When we were by the pool, we enjoyed some delicious drinks by our friendly bartender and soaked up the sun on the comfiest poolside beds. I love breakfast so naturally I had to try what the hotel offered and WOW, it was delicious. I can't wait to come back and stay here! read more

Due to location (THE ONLY REASON) we've stayed at the grand beach hotel several times. We've learned to have very very velow expectations. Every single time we have stayed here there has been an issue with the room, maintenance and service. The hotel is so poorly managed. From AC not working, noise issues, room smells (mildew smell) lack of cleanliness and when issues are brought to the attention of staff it is not addressed. Very little to no customer service. Shame on me- I stayed there again after this horrible review. The staff could care less. Checked in on a Sunday didn't get the room clean till late on a Tuesday. By far the worst hotel ever. The Valets damaged my brand new vehicle and lied about it. They claim my car was already damaged when I arrived which is completely false. They claim to have 'footage' to prove this but conveniently its 'against their policy' to show it to me. In the process of trying to get resolution to this issue I spoke to a hotel employee who got his car damaged by the valets as well! Even the GM admitted when I confronted him about it that they had damaged his new car whe he parked it out front. Avoid this disaster of a hotel at all costs! read more
