Loved staying here!! Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Everyone was super nice! Our first room, we couldn't get the AC working and the room was at 88 degrees. We asked for someone to come help us with it and they called back within 5 minutes and automatically upgraded us to a room with a balcony for free, they didn't even come up and look at the AC! The balcony was lovely! We had a view of the city of Miami and the parking lot but it was very relaxing. I sat outside every night. The menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner had many options but it was very expensive!! $60-$90 for breakfast for 3 people. I suggest going to Publix which is down the road and buying simple breakfast things and snacks for the beach. The only real complaint I have is that the toilet sucked at flushing in our room. I would definitely stay here again though. It was a really nice hotel and the staff couldn't be nicer! read more

Would I return... Yes! but also No!... definitely depend on price compared to others in the same stretch of beach. You'll have to overlook some things to be comfortable with staying there. If booking, you should definitely know up front that this is not your normal hotel, especially for this part of Bal Harbour. It is surrounded by residential buildings and super expensive hotels (st Regis next door). It was an older residential tower transformed into a hotel but they didn't fully change everything over so front checkin and lobby still has that residential lobby setup. Not as welcoming as I hoped for. Huge chandelier and tile/carpet, old furniture (antique but clean), and small old elevators. Hallways are also outdated. They also have a 2 person per room limit unless there are children (which they define as under 10 or 11 so 12 and up are adults). Balcony was a little sketchy with very low sides/railing, and in-room fridge handle was super-glued on. Bathroom was clean and nice but very small. Now... all that being said... once we walked into our room my overall attitude changed. Rooms had high ceilings, comfortable beds and overall very clean and nice. The pool was large and heated and the beach was steps away from the pool. Both the pool and beach had attendants that would provide towels, chairs, umbrellas, etc as part of your stay. Each room was given two chairs and an umbrella. This is one of the cleanest and nicest stretches of beach in all of Miami. read more

The Sea View Hotel owes me nothing! I stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. I was barely in my room, but the super comfortable bed was much needed every night after a really long day! It was quiet and serene - I actually didn't see more than a handful of guests the whole time I was there. It's an older boutique hotel, so don't expect all the glitz and glams of the Ritz. Probably the only thing I wasn't crazy about was servicing the rooms - they did not clean unless you call and request it. I like to get new wash cloths every day, but honestly I survived. I know most hotels are still struggling with staffing in the pandemic. Otherwise, add the Sea View to your list of hotels on Collins in MIA! Enjoy! read more

Check in was not welcoming. The young lady at the front desk was unprofessional. She was very focused on how many people were staying in the room. She kept repeating that more than two adults could not stay in one room and insisted on listing our children's names. The bathroom was poorly kept and outdated. The TV remote needed batteries. TV reception was Poor. There was not hot water. Luke warm at best. The pool and cabana area is nice and the access to the beach is great. The bar tender was hospitable. If you aren't spending time in the room (just need a comfy bed) but spending the majority elsewhere, this is an ok option. But if you are looking for comfort in your room, this is not the place. Terrible experience with Management. Hotel was decent but this is not a upscale run hotel. My wife and I were in bed at 11am in the morning and a housekeeper walked into the room with a 12pm checkout. No knock just walked in while we were both laying there. Incredibly embarrassing for both parties. I went down angerly 30 minutes later to check out an all they did was hand me a bill for incidentals. Didn't try to make things better by at the very least comping a meal. I get it, things happen but you're a manager for a reason, to step in a defuse the situation which they didn't. We booked this hotel for 8 nights. The room was spacious and well cleaned. The oceanfront balcony was pleasant - plenty of room with a table and two chairs. Nice sitting area inside the room by the windows also. Nice sized fridge in room. Some things were a little outdated, but for a hotel directly on the beach with a beautiful outside area and pool it was worth the money. Every hotel close by was definitely out of the price range but brought a nice feel to the area. All staff were kind and helpful. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel and have money to spend we would recommend other hotels in the area, but for us this hotel was perfect. Walking distance to many stores (CVS/Publix/liquor store) and a few places to eat. Flanigan's was one of the few places we located that had moderately priced meals. Pool and beach staff were helpful. Bring cash to tip the outside workers who help you with your chairs and towels at the pool and/or the beach! Be careful when paying at the restaurant and/or room service - they include a 20% service fee which we considered to be the only tip necessary (but very happy to pay as the service was great). When coming to the hotel it had a surprisingly beautiful lobby with a nice chandelier. I could sense the old feel to it as people would say but it was not dirty in any way. The door man greated my bf and I and opened the door for us when we got out of the lyft and got our bags. The front desk lady was accommodating and it was an easy check in. The room was spacious and well cleaned. You could tell some things were a little outdated but for a hotel directly on the beach and a beautiful outside area and pool it was worth the money. Every hotel close by was definitely out of the price range but brought a nice feel to the area. The St.Regis was a hotel down and it was fun to walk by. The only downfall we found with our room was that the shower head started spraying everywhere when we turned the shower on and they forgot to put a microwave in our room, those things were fixed in minutes though. All staff were kind and helpful. The hotel location was perfect and I would stay here again. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel and have money to spend I recommend the hotels next door. But for me this hotel was a perfect, it was walking distance from many stores (CVS/Publix) and places to eat, we ate at the Grill of Bel Harbor located at the mall and it was delicious (make reservation). The rooms are spacious. For the most part they are clean, however I did find a q-tip on the floor when I walked in. The beds and comfy as well. The bathrooms need a little work. There was mold around the edges but that expected in a humid climate. There also isn't much space to store things in the bathroom. I couldn't imagine more that one person sharing the bathroom. The staff was very friendly. I was able to check in very early which was nice after a long flight. The pool area is huge! The pool is heated so you can use it year round. The staff will put a cushion and towels on any chair that you would like around the pool, it really makes you feel like your at a fancy place. I believe they do the same for the beach area. I got lunch at the pool bar which was good. Nothing special but the Cobb salad was good. Overall the hotel was nice and the pool area made it worth it because you should be spending your time outside in the nice weather! I've stayed other places in Miami Beach which were horrible. My husband's family has a cabana at the Sea View Hotel and has been coming here for many years. While it is a bit dated, it's clean, nice and the staff is great. I love the beach in front of the hotel - not too many tourists, quiet and clean. They have chair service available. The snack bar is a GREAT place to grab lunch. Do not be fooled by the name of this hotel... there is nothing peaceful or beautiful about it. My experience was far from pleasant. I checked in for my birthday weekend to spend a night with my friends, hoping to enjoy the "sea view." As others have noted -- from the beginning the customer service was disappointing.The front desk was not helpful, seemed annoyed, and overall- a little bit snippy. Once we got to the room, I was heart-broken because the windows indeed were facing the ocean, but looked like they haven't been cleaned in years, so you couldn't even see out of them properly. I was so let down. The windows did not open either. What's the point of paying $250 per night, when you don't get the promised experience of seeing beautiful Miami Beach? The wi-fi also did not work, and the cell service was low in the area. Furthermore -- once my friends and I came back from dinner.. I was told that there was only two people allowed in the room, and since there were four people in my party, I would have to pay 100$ extra per adult. I was shocked, but I listened to them explain their hotel policy, and gathered that I had made a wrong assumption that their policy was like other hotels where 2 full/queen beds will sleep four. During this confusion, I was told by one of the front desk employees that "anyone with a high-school degree" could read the paper and see that I had made the reservation for two. Do not get me wrong, I do not mind paying the 200$ extra, even though I don't agree with it, but I have never been spoken to like that in a hotel. Such arrogance, disdain, and condescension is something that I cannot tolerate. I will not be going back here. I am sad to say that this experience put a small damper on my birthday, and I was heart-broken that my friends and I were treated so poorly. I have been lucky to experience many hotels in Miami, from SB to Brickell to Coral Gables... but really, this is the first time I had a horrible time. One good note-- the bar outside was nice and drinks were well-made. However, I would not recommend overall. I needed a hotel near Bal Harbour for a family get together. I found this hotel through a friend who recommended I contact Sunny Lee in reservations. Sunny was great throughout the whole process and couldn't have been a better choice for the location and the perfect amenities at this quaint historic hotel. We book a room for a meeting and Tasha and uma were great. Maria at the front desk was also great and extremely helpful with all of the guests we invited to this event. Dave, the bartender was a trooper with the 30 guests invited to our get together and made great drinks. I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

The worst possible service from the moment I walked in. The front desk attendant seemed to be bothered by my checking in, no open restaurant, pool closes at 7PM, and forget about using your phone because cell reception is one bar and the wifi they provide (included in the mandatory $20 daily resort fee) gets one bar WHEN and IF it connects. When I called to address the wifi issue (I'm here for work and need connectivity) I was told I cannot move to another room and that the hotel doesn't take responsibility for the routers or wifi...basically told me to go f@c& myself. Perfect place for a daycation, with the current covid situation, it's quiet has a great big pool, a sunny quiet beach. Quite pleased.

Would never stay here again. Stains all over the room carpet, blood stain on the wall, you can hear every cough and conversation in the room next to you. The hotel as a whole feels like no one is working there - like you're in the movie The Shining. No bartenders to be found at either bar. I had to hunt one down and when I found her, to say she was rude was an understatement. The Regis down the street was gorgeous and worth the extra $$ a night if you need to stay in Bal Harbor. Only good thing was beach was nice and quiet. We walked to Starbucks and had coffee on the beach on the AM. read more

it's a large hotel that probably was a 5 -Star hotel in it's prime. The staff was welcoming and helpful. I really want to give it a higher rating, but it wouldn't be accurate. They charge a lot for a room that should be a 5star room, It has just about everything you need in it- it's just very old and dated. They really, really need new carpet or better yet tile floors. The rooms are ample and have huge closets, amazing TV's, safes, refrigerators, desks and large balconies. If you get a direct ocean view, you can easily ignore the old stinky carpeting. It has a huge heated pool and deck area, shuffle board, large lobby, 2x/day housekeeping, fitness center, massage table, cabanas available for rent, concierge, valet parking ($20/overnight) beach chairs/towels/umbrella (resort fee). It has a restaurant that has a view of the ocean (bonus!) but the items on the menu are very pricey - mediocre at best, and menu items could use an updating altogether - healthier options, maybe add a few healthy vegan options (not just french fries or rice, maybe adding tofu as an add-on to your salads, not just chicken), healthy veggy appetizers gluten -free options, etc. These are what all the other restaurants in the area include now-a-days, and a lot of customers expect now. The coffee shop is cute (but pricey!), but again, adding gluten free or veggie option wouldn't be that hard. (how about adding a veggie sausage to the options?) It's like its stuck in a time-warp. When you update your restaurant- let me know. I'll be back! & strangely, the gift shop is hardly ever open and has like 2 random items for sale. Plus it smells of mold. The beach was beautiful! Overall, if the hotel was updated, the rating would be much higher- like I said, it really has everything you need. read more

The Sea View is well-located, the rooms are a decent size and the pool area is spacious. The people at the desk are average. When asked if we could check in a bit early, they said 'no', though they didn't lift a finger to look. The hotel was not full. The main reason for the 2-star review is the slow internet in the rooms and pool area. When I mean slow, I mean 3 Mb/second. This is a speed from 2 decades ago. Most cities and countries have speeds of at least 80 Mb/second. At my house I have 250. I had to work online, so this was very disappointing and inconvenient. I had to sit in the noisy lobby for hours everyday, just to get my work done. If you want to buy tickets, check out restaurants, or use your laptop for anything in your room, forget it. With all the choices in the area, why suffer? This is not a cheap hotel and there is not excuse for antiquated internet speeds. I am so disappointed by the terrible service I received at the Sea View. I have stayed there in the past and received great service several years ago, but apparently that has dropped significantly. The front desk staff is incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. They barely greeted us when we arrived. Every time I went to the front or called the front desk, the staff working at the time would give me short answers and act as if they were annoyed that I was even talking to them. They never answered questions correctly and each person I would talk to would give me a different response. When we were having issues with the television, they never sent any one to help us until I called for a second time an hour later. The restaurant servers were rude and slow. The manager was unfriendly and any time we asked where our food was, she would give us rude responses (eggs and toast should not take an hour especially when breakfast for two people costs $45). The restaurant overcharges you for mediocre food. Each of the four days they were there, they got our orders wrong and that should not be happening when a sandwich and chips costs $25. It seems like they have a lot of processes to work out in their dining rooms, none of the servers seem to understand what is going on and because of that the service is lousy and slow. Good thing they add 18% gratuity on to the bill, so they don't have to be speedy! They charge you for your pool chairs daily (I think $20 a day) yet they don't even have someone to walk around the pool area and take your drink or food orders. What are you paying for then? I am SHOCKED by the positive reviews on this website. Frankly, I think the hotel employees create Yelp profiles and write the positive reviews because there is no way people are having these great experiences at this hotel. The majority of this staff (restaurant and front desk/concierge mainly) were the most unaccommodating group of individuals I have ever met. This is an expensive area and even a few nights in this hotel is a lot. For these prices, most customers expect much better and friendly service. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. If you are contemplating staying at the Sea View, look at other places nearby, unless you are a "regular" guest. You will know exactly what I am talking about once you meet the rude front desk staff that can barely crack a smile or say "welcome to hotel." Had several issues/concerns with my stay: TV remote was missing a battery and the front desk told me they didn't have an engineer at night to bring me a battery. I complained so Security did bring a battery that night. The closet smelled so I couldn't hang my clothes. I informed the desk the following day and they gave me a new room- no apology for the inconvenience. We paid a resort fee and the pool was out of service. (They do have arrangements with a neighbouring hotel to use their pool, however we should have been informed prior to our visit or the resort fee should have been reduced or waived). Booked a room with a pre-paid voucher through a travel agent. When I checked in at the hotel they asked for a credit card. I thought the card was for incidentals (e.g. use of hotel restaurant, etc.) It turned out they billed me a "resort fee". The hotel is just a hotel. It has a swimming pool and some cabanas outside, but it is not a resort by any means. The amenities are like what you would find at any other similar hotel. The resort fee is just a sneaky way of upcharging for the room. I do not like sneaky charges. So buyer beware. Oh, and the hotel is dated and everything about the room looks old and worn. We have an apartment across the street from the Sea View Hotel and have always come over for breakfast, lunch and to use their chairs at the beach( which we pay for - which we don't mind ) - the hotel has been doing this for many years which has been a great thing for the neighbors ( not to mention money in the hotels pocket!)The Sea View is a beautiful old hotel and the staff has always been wonderful. This winter, however, we were informed that no more outside visitors ( meaning anyone not staying at the hotel) were allowed to use the beach chairs. You would think they would be happy to accommodate the neighbors- especially since they were making money off them. We always recommend the Sea View to friends but no more- why should we if we can't sit out on the beach with them? Whoever thought up that new policy should look at the bigger picture. The group reservation was confirmed over email, but upon arrival two people were told their rooms were released & another two were told they would have to check-out a day earlier than planned. At check-out, several of the room charges were incorrect for the group (mixed up rooms, charged no show fees, etc.). And, several of us had charges (over $80) on our credit cards that were not on the bill at check-out. We've been in touch with the hotel (calls & emails) for over a month and they still have not been able to resolve the billing issues. read more

The reason I stayed here is because other review pages had decent 3 to 4 stars on their reviews. But to be honest, it wasn't a 3 to 4 star stay! First of all the staff are very unprofessional. No greetings, no good mornings, good afternoon , nothing. I work in hospitality for the Sheraton and I completely see why our core values makes us a great resort. It was my mini honeymoon and we expected at least for them to care or try to give us some attention, none of that. We were "upgraded" to the penthouse on the 14th floor which we thought hey that sounds pretty nice, my wife was excited a bit and all but when we go up the elevator and stop at the 14th floor we see the whole building is under renovations. There's no ceilings so you can see thru a bunch of cables and pipes. My wife and I completely looked disappointed at each other and headed to the room. The room was huge and beautiful! Everything was clean and overall the room did not disappoint me but we wanted a room towards the ocean view. One morning we woke up to people drilling out in the hallway which is not good at all. We were very disappointed because we paid so much money to stay their and the service wasn't close to what the reviews would mention. All I can say is the view was great and the breakfast was "okay" other than that, the money we spent on two nights was not worth it at all.
