Stopped in for a bite after spending the day at Cape Perpetua. They were only offering take out, but had picnic tables outside to use. The pizza came out hot, with the crust well cooked and cheese all melty. Loved the crust, it had a good rise but was the right thickness. The sauce was a basic tomato sauce that paired well with the crust and topping. We had Salami on top, good flavor and not greasy. The lady who took our order was pleasant and helpful. For decades, I have taken my family here...but after covid, they just never reopened. The staff seems to care less, and it is takeout only. Well, the food is best eaten HOT, and the pizza is not great after chilled. If they can't reopen, I mean all the other restaurants seem to have opened...then they should just close. In my quest for the perfect pizza I always order the same toppings: sausage and black olive. The pizza is definitely in the Top 10 for Pacific Northwest pizzas. The crust is like a light garlic bread. The cheese is real and there are plenty of toppings. The portion size was huge. Between the two of us we ate half a large pizza so it would have fed 3-4 people. The price was totally fair and I would absolutely recommend for pizza and beer. We didn't have a big enough appetite to try the rest but there is a huge menu. The only drawback is that they were takeout only. I guess that's not a huge drawback but be prepared to stow and go. We came to town late, so we were limited on where we could eat. To be honest I wasn't thrilled it was pizza that was open but I was out voted. The service was great, and I was really impressed with the salad bar. The garlic knots were good, and the lasagna was decent. Not an Italian restaurant good, or homemade good, but edible. I didn't eat the pizza. It had onions on it. He seemed to like it pretty well. We took it back to the beach house, and reheated the food the next day. The lasagna actually tasted better the next day. I used to go there probably around 1991 used to be Atza pizza I believe. I was in Job corps down the street in yachts Morgan and I went through and knows the best pizza I've ever had in my life. Grant you my father had pizza places here but this is the best place I've ever had. I stopped in here while I was down here for work because a close friend recommended it. He said they have the best garlic knots he's ever had. I pulled up and was disappointed to learn they were only open for take out. That didn't stop me though, I ordered anyway. I ordered a side salad, slice of cheese pizza and 6 garlic knots with marinara. This is a cute little spot with a great beer selection if they ever open back up for dine in, right now it's growler fills only, since it's take out only. I got my food and proceeded to my car to dig in. I started with the salad and was highly impressed at the quality and different ingredients that came on it! Usually you get lettuce, tomato, cheese and croutons. This had olives, and broccoli, and cauliflower plus tomato and onion. It was really good and the blue cheese was on point. Next I dig into the garlic knots, which by this point had made my car smell amazing! Sadly they smelled better than they tasted. What I mean by that is I didn't get much garlic flavor at all and there was so much butter or oil in the bottom of the tray so they were really greasy. The bread itself was good, just wanted way more flavor for how my car smelled. The cheese pizza was really disappointing, it reminded me of the cafeteria pizza in school when I was a kid. The sauce was pretty good but the rest just didn't hit. I'm a firm believer in giving a place two chances so if I'm ever down here again craving pizza I would probably stop in and try something different. It's hard to find good pizza anymore. I come from Colorado and Beau Jo's, Big Bill's, and the now defunct Frontroom Pizza are about the only places I love. Coming to Oregon and finding good pizza has been a challenge. However, challenge accepted and completed. Grand Central Pizza will be our go to pizza place in the future. The building is so dang cool and the views from upstairs were the best in the town for food! Pizza has lost some of its luster. I can't help but wonder if some people aren't leaving a review for the wrong restaurant. It's all carry out right now- and really, who cares? We've been here twice in the last year (we're from very out of town) and service has been great both times. If you're looking for a NY style or Chicago style pizza- fuhgeddaboutit. But if you're looking for a great (albeit slightly expensive) west coast style pizza, this is the place to get it. We ordered the Grand Central and the Brunos, and a large and a medium fed our family of five with ample leftovers for tomorrow morning. The crust is delicious, not soggy. While COVID is making the rounds as well as employees wanting better wages (SO overdue) which makes it of course hard for restaurants right now, this place has a great system. You order online and pick up your pizza. Simple I also included a generous tip for those people that are working/struggling. Meanwhile, about the pizza. HUGE and this was only the 14 inch one. Thick (how I like), and toppings??? They had PLENTY of!! I hate going into places where you can count how many peppers, tomatoes, well you get my gist. By the way, you CAN have it your way. You can get: thin, gluten free, (if I'm not mistaken cauliflower crust as well) etc.... We just got the regular Grand Central special.
