With only a few hours notice, we descended upon this restaurant with 30 people. They seated us in 2 long tables. Service was fast and organized and the food was delicious! We were so well taken care of and I was super impressed by their ability to time everything so that it was ready at about the same time. Hot and delicious! I had the al pastor and pollo tacos. Service was great! Such nice staff and I loved the art on the booths and the wall! The wood was meh unfortunately. I really wanted it to be good. I got the most expensive burrito with everything in it. And while my order might've been the issue, it was just not good. Good portion though! However the carnitas taco was definitely up to par! this is the worst Mexican food in town. the service was way more interested in the guys drinking beer behind us then to refill our water glasses. The food was not good. I have eaten here twice for lunch to be fair and each time the food was just not good. My chicken chimichanga was filled with refried beans and a little chicken. Really disappointing. This was the first time I left without finishing my meal. Our server did a good job until it was time to pay and she just left us sitting there. Full bar and good size dining room. Fast kitchen but never saw the server again. Still only four other tables and two servers. Mediocre to untasty food. Ordered two chimichangas and only got one. We brought the issues to the attention of the server which included one of the dishes being gross, only one bite was taken and it was beyond awful. The response we received was "oh, no. The food was the worse I've had. The carne asada was reheated, and served as fresh. The Cadillac Margarita should be renamed, 'The ford escort margarita'. The server took over 15 minutes to get my tab, after asking 2-3 times. She did not table touch once, aside from when they dropped off my beef jerky, I mean carne asada. Was recommended here since I was missing authentic tacos. I ordered the pastor, asada, and cabeza taco for take out. I was surprised that it came with chips and salsa. The price of the the tacos are 2.25 and 2.50 which are on the pricier side than I normally spend, but that's what you get in a small town. The pastor had a good flavor but it did not taste like a pastor taco. The asada taco was just like any other ordinary asada tacos you get. The cabeza taco was probably my favorite. Horrible service and food. Took our son who came down for the weekend out to dinner here. We usually eat there once a month. The service tonight was horrible. We had to wait to be seated, even longer to place our order and get our food. This time the food was not good. The coffee had a perfume taste to it. The usually mild salsa was so hot it burnt my tongue. Food has gone way down hill from a month ago. Margaritas are terrible. The service was very slow and the waitress was very rude when I asked about a charge on our bill. $2.50 for an extra tortilla. I said that was ridiculous and she laughed. On March 17, 2012 my husband and I were in Newport, Oregon. I had a hankering for Mexican food and we found this out of the way treasure called La Roca Mexican Restaurant. I had Chicken Fajitas and my husband had a combination plate with an Enchilada and a Chorizo Taco. As you can by the picture my husband had finished the Enchilada and was working on the taco. He raved about the taste of both. The Chorizo Taco per my husband was "most excellent"! I on the other hand the Chicken Fajita. It was lovely. The flavor was fresh and the dish was cooked to perfection! The fajita dish could feed a small army. There was enough food left over I had two additional meals from it. I asked for additional tortillas to take with me. They were fresh. I wouldn't be surprised if they were made on site or locally. If you are in the mood for Mexican food while on the coast, this is a definate stop! We go to this area several times a year and we will definately be back. I noticed another review that mention poor service. We did not experience this at all. If anything I would say the opposite. The young man that served us was kind, considerate and had a smile the entire time. He was also very attentive gave us menus right away and with minutes was at our table to take our order. The food was great but the service was terrible. Without a doubt the worst service we have ever received at a restaurant. I am really easy going when it comes to not great service. I get people are not 100% all the time and that is completely fine. But the servers made it seem like we were a problem being there. Service can make or break an experience and this a perfect example of that. It was disappointing meal to say the least and it's completely due to the lack of service we received. We've recently moved out to the coast after being in Portland/Gresham forever. There are lots of good Mexican restaurants in those areas. I've been hunting down for one out here for a while now. We headed in here to give it a try and was impressed by the menu from the beginning. We ordered pescado, camarones, lingua and carnitas tacos sans sour cream and one of them had the infamous yellow shredded cheese. I just brushed it off and pretended it wasn't ever there. Otherwise we really enjoyed them. I also loved that you get chips and bean dip, and 2 other salsas right at the start. They did not appear to come out of any jar or can and I had to order more salsa since I could have drunk it. The chips were not out of a bag either. Also got the guacamole which was very creamy and flavorful. We will be back and I'm getting the Coctel de Camarones (shrimp cocktail) next time.
