We just got home from three weeks with a Grand Circle tour where we did the pre-trip on the Italian Riviera, then sailed the Rhône up to Lyon, and then spent 5 days on the post trip in Paris. This was a wonderful itinerary and our guides were terrific. We truly loved every minute of this trip. The ship was comfortable and nicely sized with only 80 passengers. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

River MS Adiago and River MS Aria Best River Cruise Ever, even though this was our first river cruise, the Grand Circle crew were very welcoming from top "Captain" to the "Cabin Crew", they were all nice, we had a hick up since the water level was low, but over all, it was quaint, included all the excursions, meals, drinks, wine and beer, what more can you ask for. we had a balcony but didn't use it as much since the weather was very hot, but still we loved the views on the sun desk. our program directors were great, thanks Julia and Alex, you guys did a great job.

How is the water level on the Danube?

On our early June 2024 cruise, the water level was actually high. No problems with the water level.

Do the ships have any laundry facilities for travelers?

Your cabin attendant will get your clothes washed every day for a fee. They are great.

Our first driver seemed much more interested in sharing fun facts about how lobsters swim than the incredible history of Boston. We left feeling like we weren't learning much about one of America's most historic cities. After only three stops, everyone had to exit and transfer to another trolley. We didn't realize that some routes require changing trolleys. In many other cities we've visited, the same trolley completes the full loop, and passengers simply hop on and off whenever they choose. Our second driver covered the Orange Route (about a 2 hour tour). He was extremely loud at times and often difficult to understand, which made it hard to follow along. By the time we finished that route, my husband and two of our four kids decided they were done with the tour altogether. Since we had spent nearly $300 for our family of six, I wasn't ready to give up. I spoke with the manager at the visitor center and explained our disappointment. To his credit, he listened and recommended we try another driver named Quint. I'm so glad we did. Quint completely changed our experience. He was engaging, knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about Boston's history. Instead of random facts, he shared stories that made the city's past come alive. If you're planning to take this tour, I highly recommend asking for Quint. Overall, I would rate our experience about 2.5 stars, but since Yelp doesn't allow half-stars, I'm rounding down to 2 stars because half of our family left disappointed before we even finished. Had Quint been our driver from the beginning, this review likely would have been very different.

Tom's knowledge for this thoroughly interesting topic is unmatched. His serious knowledge of the history of other significant historical places and events speckled with his dry "Bastan" humor. Now this tour may not be for everyone, as the title of the tour alludes to.. but if you don't mind the random swear word and aren't easily offended, you'll be like me... cracking up for 3 hours straight. And there was one thing I noticed about Anthony that he doesn't advertise, and may try to track me down for saying on here.... But beneath the gruff exterior was the sweetest guy that seemed genuinely interested in sharing his culture, stories, and amazing food with everyone! We started off at a pizza joint where we got a slice of pizza and an arancini ball. I expected the pizza to be good... and it was fantastic. But I am not a huge fan of arancini and this one had peas in it... also something I am not a huge fan.... But hey, I was on a food tour so I was going to try everything! Thank goodness I did, because this arancini was the stuff of dreams. How in the world could something be THAT much better than what high end Italian restaurants advertise? The last time I had an arancini ball was at a restaurant in Hawaii that won "best Italian food in Hawaii".... And it was only so-so. This arancini ball would make me fly 5,000 just to eat it again! Next up was a deli sub, a coffee shop, ravioli, a pastry shop and lastly an affogato (or gelato if you didn't want coffee that late in the day). Based on the food I received, before factoring in all the stories that Anthony shared, I feel the tour was really underpriced. I wish I hadn't done this the tour on my last day, I would have gone back for another round of everything we tried, as well as everything that was recommended. Heck I may have signed up for the tour again just to experience it all over again!

It's who ever hosts this tour and is making the bank on it, it's all sorts of upside down on the expectations vs reality. I had an expectation we would actually be trying lots of chocolates, instead we went to 3 diff places, and had parts of a broken chocolate bar and then had a chocolate martini at the end. Probably adding up to a max $20 total for the actual chocolate we ate. It was disappointing. For $73 I was expecting to actually try chocolates (similar time a wine tasting) and learn what brings out certain tones in chocolate. Instead they took us to 3 chocolate stores (one in a strip mall and one in a tiny liquor store) and basically tried to sell us chocolate from those stores with the incentive of 20% off. I wasn't looking for a coupon, I wanted a real tour that would be a great birthday feature for my friends who flew into town for this occasion. We felt ripped off and sold to, and instead of being a great occasion, it set a horrible tone for the weekend. :/ Totally regret. Don't expect chocolate on this tour, and deff don't expect "tipsy" unless 1 choc martini at the end gets you there.
