Mobsters and Lobsters is a mafia story laden trip that ends up at the south shore popular lobster eatery. Although Mother Nature and the traffic in downtown Boston decided yo play games with us the owner who's name actually is Tom Collins, started off with a quick quip yo get the folks settled and the first round of beverages were begun. Tom brings us around to the spectacular locations and spots where specific mobsters from the years past were doing their cunning and not so cunning work. Tom's knowledge for this thoroughly interesting topic is unmatched. His serious knowledge of the history of other significant historical places and events speckled with his dry "Bastan" humor. Made this trip extremely worthwhile. The duration was four hours long which also included a Lobster dinner at a local eatery on the south Boston harbor. I haven't laughed this hard in a long while. If you are in beantown for a spell. I highly recommend you and you motley crew join Tom for an interesting alcohol added trip back in time. The receptionist was friendly. The tour guide was phenomenal. Bearing a great, easygoing and a bit sarcastic personality, she was engaging, knowledgeable, funny and honest about her delivery. I learned a few things about the city and the famous schools from her personal opinion. Very steady and peaceful ride. Clean and well-maintained boat with a bar. Be mindful it's hot inside the boat with the scorching sun in PM so bring water, sun screen and hat, dress lightly. It was our second day in town our bodies still adjusted humidity and heat, I felt I was about to get a heat stroke. It'd be nice if they consider AC operated boat in the future.

The views were nice, but the experience turned sour quickly due to a lack of passenger care and extremely poor customer service. Halfway through the ride, we were filming the scenery at the front of the boat when, without warning, the captain blasted an incredibly loud horn as a "greeting" to another boat far in the distance. It was completely unnecessary, and the sudden, deafening sound startled everyone around us. I almost dropped my phone into the water. We went inside for the rest of the trip because we no longer felt safe or relaxed. Later that day, we emailed the company with our concerns and offered to send them the video showing exactly what happened. They didn't care. Instead, the Director of Operations, Gibson Cushman, dismissed our complaint, quoted Coast Guard rules (irrelevant in this case), and refused a refund. He offered a credit for another cruise, which felt like a cop-out since we're not local. His response made everything worse--tone-deaf, defensive, and full of excuses. He even tried to blame us, saying passengers should expect loud horns at any time. I had ringing in my ear for 48 hours--if we'd known something like this might happen, we could've worn ear protection. Overall, it was a stressful and disappointing experience. Their focus clearly isn't on guest satisfaction or safety--only on covering themselves. We won't be returning and wouldn't recommend them to others.

Katie was an excellent guide and provided visual aids (laminated maps of the city and more), great historical knowledge, and had a warm personality. She explained the history of the food we were having as well as other not-so-well-known-facts of Boston. We learned more from her in three hours than we did from another tour we took while visiting. Here is what we ate on our tour: Baked beans and brown bread, clam chowder, a lobster roll, and Boston cream pie. All of the places we experienced these foods had a unique history of their own. Our favorite was the clam chowder. The lobster roll was stuffed with lobster and came with fries. The beans were heavy on molasses, and the Boston cream pie was okay...not what we thought it was going to be. But it sure was pretty! We highly recommend this tour if you visit Boston. It was unfortunate that the thing we were most excited about turned out to be the worst part of our…read moretrip. Mainly it was so disappointing because it was what our birthday girl was hyped about. We went on a sibling trip to Salem. The sister we were celebrated loves ghosts tours and was so excited to learn more about the history of Salem. The only history we learned was about the tour company. Our tour repeatedly told us about how old the tour company was. So I guess that was the historical element. We also learned a lot about her personal life. We were repeatedly reassured that once other groups moved she'd take us closer to the buildings so we could see them (often we were either across the street or half a block away) but then never followed through on any of those promises. She did however lead us into the backyard of one of the properties where we were chased out by security. Two of our sisters got frustrated and dropped out to get a beer after they watched an elderly man in our group fall off the sidewalk trying to keep up with our tour guide who the people in the back could neither hear or see. I haven't been on other tours and it was just kind of meh. But my sister who is passionate about both history and ghost tours was very let down. We went in very early September and it wasn't very crowded. But I can't imagine the quality of tour you'd get when there's more crowds to contend with. I think the guide really makes or breaks the tour and hopefully it was just a really off night.

Our tour guide Bob didn't really talk about the history, but rather about his own past with ghosts. While some of the stories were a little interesting we wanted to know more about the actual hauntings of Salem not his personal experiences. Then when we asked to take a picture with him as is my teachers tradition he told two of the students to put their hands against his neck which was weird and creepy. All of us were uncomfortable with the request. Then at the end instead of talking about Hocus Pocus or hauntings he started talking about death and didn't include any verified information. He also proceeded to yell at us and our teacher throughout the entire tour if we even so much as whispered, stating that he didn't appreciate us talking. We all regret going on the tour and don't believe it was worth the money. We suggest the company has a serious talk with Bob as it seems he is very unpopular in other recent reviews.

The tour guide even shared a story about the place which made it even more surprising that it was not included on the itinerary.
