For starters the vibe of this place is truly special. Didn't know exactly what kind of place we were going to so i definitely had not dressed for the occasion but they were all still very welcoming. My favorite food item is one that I actually didn't take a picture of which is the roasted quail. For our appetizers we went with that and the tartar, but I mainly stuck to the quail. And for the main entree the pasta was amazing. This picture shows it before the disaster that comes with rubbing it in all the yolk to have some fun with it. All in all in great place, would recommend to anyone looking for fine dining. We decided to stop in on our last night in Prague to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have been happier with the experience! We ended up doing one Grand Cru tasting menu and one seasonal tasting menu with the wine pairings and were excited about every dish that came out. Started off okay- a bit of an attitude from the servers. Apps were soaked in truffle olive oil. Sent one back as it was not good. Main dishes were OK only- very dry meat, too sweet sauce. The bill came with a $1 discount for dish returned & a nasty attitude. Would NOT recommend. Amazing from start to finish! First, the restaurant was adorably tucked away in a little courtyard and tables are fairly spread out (yes we can't forget there's still a pandemic). Service was impeccable and food was delicious (not to mention great value for this high level of skills and ingredients). Husband had the venison tasting menu, I had the kulajda soup, suckling pig, and chocolate mousse dessert. Everything was amazing, including the amuse bouche and bread/butter. 100% recommend and we will definitely be back next time in Prague. read more

It was delicious, probably the second best place I've ever eaten in my life (the first one being some really expensive french restaurant) Though quite pricy compared to the usual restaurant in Prague, this restaurant greatly compensates by the various savors of its meals... Grand Cru is a Michelin-star restaurant recommended by the Taste of Prague blog. If you are not familiar with Taste of Prague, you should check their website and blog out ASAP. They are a must-use resource for foodies travelling to Prague. As suggested by TOP, we visited during lunch to take advantage of the lunch specials. We did seem a bit out of place - two young adults in our 20's surrounded by suits and ties. The host seating us was rather rude, perhaps due to our age. Thankfully, our server was top notch. Grand Cru offered a two-course lunch special for 13-euros. The options consisted of a soup or salad to start and two mains to choose from. We were not overly ecstatic about the lunch special starters or mains, so we decided to order a couple dishes a la carte. My girlfriend ordered the Brazilian sirloin steak with pepper sauce, homemade french fries, and an fried egg. Price: $22 euros. Like any high-end restaurant, the portion size was small. However, the quality of the meat warranted the price tag. Lightly spiced and cooked to a perfect medium rare, the meat was succulent, especially when paired with the lightly fried egg. French fries were delectable. I ordered the Chef's Special: Pigeon breast, almond ravioli with cherries and smoked thyme sauce. Pigeon consommé, armagnac and ginger. Pigeon liver and foie gras ice cream. Price: $30 euros. The dish was a bit rich for our taste buds. Cooked to a perfect medium rare, the pigeon breast was the highlight. The smoked thyme sauce and almong ravioli were very tasty compliments to the breast, but overall the dish was lacking flavour. The Pigeon Consomme, armagnac and ginger consisted of pigeon feet in a small soup. It was far too rich... not my favourite dish. Lastly, the pigeon liver and foie gras ice cream was inedible. A fine-dining restaurant with pleasant calm ambiance and a great wine selection. The service is professional but for me maybe a more friendly attitude would be welcomed. When it comes to food, I have always been very satisfied. The catch of the day is a great choice and so is the meat. I was a bit surprised when they told me they were not sure as to whether they would be able to prepare potatoes as a side....but eventually they did manage. Overall a nice place but there are some minor details that don't make it a 5-star yet. read more

We adored Grand Cru. My husband found it researching Prague and we were so happy he did! We went for lunch. Showed up a little late (probably around 2pm) but they didn't mind at all and served us with a smile. We got the two-course lunch menu but got an amuse-bouche to start and Petit fours to finish. The food was amazing. Such attention to detail, interesting and full of flavor! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and willing to chat about the food, wine, and city. We stumbled onto this wonderful restaurant after being turned away on a Saturday night from several other, more touristy places. Lucky us. The food here is truly exceptional, and the waitstaff took excellent care of us. The sommelier opened a new syrah for me to go with my deer, which was phenomenal. The foie gras appetizer is magical - don't miss the wine reduction dots on the plate, which add a tangy fruitiness to complement the creamy pâté. The deer entree was also rich and hearty, full of complex flavors that made each bite dynamic and unique. The only thing that didn't live up quite as much as the rest was the risotto that went with the fish of the day, which was far too salty. My wife had no problems with it - as long as she ate it with the fish it was fine, but since the execution on everything else was so much stronger, this stood out as mediocre. I had a tiny bit of bone on the deer, which wasn't supposed to be there, but not enough to bother with - it happens sometimes with game and with food this fresh. I let the waiter know, and thought no more of it. The chef, however, treated me to a delicious tawny port to make up for the bone sliver, which was very generous. For a wonderful dinner where the staff know how to take care of a guest, definitely give this one a try. read more

After having numerous outstanding dinners in Prague based on my own research l relented and took the advice of the concierge at my hotel: Boscolo and had dinner at Grand Cru. l couldn't have been more disappointed! It's hard for me to believe Grand Cru is recommended without some pre-arranged kickback from Grand Cru to Boscolo. Grand Cru is undoubtedly one of the worst restaurants in Prague. First -the venue. The ambience is nice. There is a courtyard which sits in the middle of the restaurant and makes for a very pleasant atmosphere. Second -the service. Terribly, miserably, disappointing from start to finish. The server couldn't explain many of the dishes on the menu. He didn't know, how they were prepared, didn't recognize some of the side dishes, didn't know how they were cooked (i.e. grilled, roasted, smoked or baked) and didn't make any effort to shore up his knowledge or get answers to any of our questions. My wife and l respectfully asked for the manager to assist with the explanation of the menu. Shortly after the manager reviewed the menu we made our selections based on the manager's (Jakuh Pribyl) recommendations. Third -the food. We first received a complimentary amuse bouche: a cold, raw, piece of radish w goat cheese topped with chopped tomatoes. Uneventful, not flavorful and the presentation included the stems of the radish which were wilted. The second complimentary amuse bouche was a diced piece of cold lamb wrapped in a fatty low end grade of prosciutto with some foam on some shredded vegetables that also had no flavor. Both were complimentary and not worth it even though they were free! Our first course consisted of a marinated watermelon dish stuffed with crab and garnished with globs of sauces and mushed vegetables. This is a cold undesirable, uneventful, messy dish which tasted as though it had been prepared weeks in advanced and left in refrigeration. My wife had the calamari stuffed with veal and a ragu sauce. Again under seasoned but so far the best dish albeit better in concept than execution. For our entrees my wife had the lamb chops (on the recommendation of the manager). There were two lollipop style lamb chops compromised of approximately 40-45% fat and grizzle. The lamb was not eatable! Trying to cut the lamb shredded this fibrous grey matter and exposed the fat content. Without question totally disgusting! We sent it back to the kitchen. I had the pork cheeks. They were tender but again totally under seasoned. No flavor, no complementary sides and loads of fattening sauces to mask the lack of flavor of the meat Lastly - the drinks. The wine list is extensive. We however asked for a wine pairing with each course. We waited for sometime with no drink. When the amuse bouches arrived, still no wine. We then sat waiting for the starter. Finally asked for some wine which amounted to a short pour of wine, similar to a tasting at a winery. They said the pairing was a half pour of wine. Which is expensive for so little wine. We turned down any further food or drinks. Opting to cut our losses and seek other dining elsewhere. However despite returning the lamb and opting out of any further courses or wine this meal exceeded $100.00 U.S. Bottom line - the courtyard is nice. The wine list is extensive but very expensive. The food is a miserable disappointment! And don't even consider the wine pairing here. Superior food can be found at: Bellevue, V Zatisi, Cantinetta Fiorentina or Mlejnici. The food at Grand Cru is a disgrace! Not even worth it if it were free. If anyone (i.e. hotel concierge) recommends this place there is definitely a hidden agenda. Prague is becoming a city who's financial economy is being driven by taking advantage of unsuspecting, uneducated tourists. read more

This place is amazing! I had a seven course special new years dinner with wine pairing. The staff was very nice and friendly and the food was fantastic (except for maybe the dessert which was not that special in comparison with the rest of the dishes). But all in all - WOW!! We got complimentary oysters that were the best I've ever had! And the wine pairing included A LOT of wine - which might feel a little bit awkward at such a fancy place - and on top of that someone in the staff (they wouldn't say who) sent us free caipirinhas that were also delicious! When I entered the restaurant for my first time, I was quite shocked that I was the only one there, yet I came at 6:05pm when they open 5 minutes before. Do not let that fool you. Within 30 minutes, the place was crowded with people and obviously for a good reason. The staff was extremely friendly, they kept smiling at me despite seeing me for the first time in their lives. I asked the waiter what he would have had recommended me for my dinner. I got a patté from fois grois, lamb with figs and quince cheesecake. All the meals very fresh, tasty and eye-appealing. The wine pairing we got with the menu was simply amazing! Despite not smelling very nice, the taste was overwhelming and I experienced the most delicious glasses of wine in my life. Since my first visit, I have returned countless times and I am not planning to stop it. It's one-of-a-kind experience in Prague and I wish more people appreciated what this concept has to offer. read more
