The audacity Story time, Today I went to the original Round Rock location, downtown Round Rock, to buy my son's birthday donuts, It's tradition. Every year on his birthday he gets a dozen half glazed and half chocolate frosted donuts. Then I get a kolache and a dozen donut holes for myself. Well when I pulled up today the line was wrapped around all the way to Mays street. So I just followed the line of cars and got in line. You'd think that a line that long would take a long time but.... Round Rock donuts has this process down to a T. It took less than 10 minutes to get through that line and get my order. And those donuts came out hot and fresh. So did my kolache. Anywho, Don't let the lines scare you away, Just jump in and know they're going to move quickly. Also, If you're planning an office event or any type of event and you want donuts and coffee or kolaches donuts and coffee, Round Rock donuts offers a great menu for large orders and also they have a cake menu for custom cake orders. If you don't want to stay in line in your car you can also park wherever you can find a spot and go to the walk-up ordering window, It's shaded and there's plenty of space to hang out while your order is being made and brought out to you. For years, I'd heard so much good about them; it was about time to sample their goods. Since it was a weekday and a bit later in the morning hours, the line wasn't too bad. Watching the vehicles flying through the drive-thru, I could see that these folks have it down to a science. Order after order is being handed to their customers with military precision. We got a cinnamon roll and a fritter for the road, plus 6 donuts to take back home with us. The fritter was OK, I've had better. My wife's cinnamon roll was too huge to manage. It was definitely Texas-sized. The six donuts we took home were two blueberry cake donuts, two regular raised donuts, and two filled. The filled donuts were our favorites, along with the cake and the traditional raised. We can now say we've been to the legendary Round Rock Donuts.

Super sweet lady that has been with the company for a very long time. As for my take on the Donuts or Doughnuts, these are definitely doughnuts to me because the dough was very light and fluffy with a very subtle sweet glaze. Just like most doughnuts, you have to eat it fresh or they lose their softness, fluffiness and sweetness. Day old doughnuts just do not taste the same, and Round Rock Donuts also do-nut hold their freshness the next day. I argue that Krispy Kreme are the only donuts I have ever had that are still soft the day after. I'm sure there are those who will disagree with me. Since we got it fresh, I'll rate the glazed donut a 7/10. If given a box of fresh round rock donuts, I will not say no thank you, but Thank you very much.

Lemon cake is my favorite, so I couldn't turn down the upsell she asked me. I ordered 3 lemon cake donuts. The size is perfect. You can ask for the donut to not have the drizzled icing on top too because I find it just a little too sweet for my taste when the icing is on top. These are only seasonal and offered during summertime, which is the only negative thing I can say about it. Wish they were a new daily menu item. The (older, slim, blonde hair, blue eyes) who took our payment and handed us our order is the nicest and sweetest lady I have ever come across. This is THE BEST donut shop we've been to in a very long time. The donut and coffee selection is very impressive, to say the least. They also have breakfast sandwiches, breakfast tacos, smoothies, milkshakes. The list is long. We tried an apple fritter, a croissants sandwich, a bagel sandwich and breakfast tacos. We also got a lavender latte and an americano. Everything was made fresh and we were all very pleased. The decor is on point. My husband and I ordered two iced vanilla lattes with almond milk, and both drinks were difficult to drink. The espresso tasted very burnt and overly acidic, and one latte was especially watered down due to having very little ice. We ended up throwing both away, which was disappointing after spending around $15. As people who genuinely love coffee and enjoy supporting local cafes, we don't expect perfection, but we do expect some consistency and care in preparation. Hoping this was just an off day, because the space and reviews made us really want to love it.
