Yummy kolaches and fresh breadd. I have to go out of my way to get there, but it is worth it.

When I have gone there it's never been fresh. Maybe at one time it was. This stops me from enjoying a bakery.

Now I understand what the big deal is about kolaches. It seems I've never had a real one! These were delicious! The bread had a wonderful soft texture, and there was the perfect amount of fruit. So good! I will be back for more! read more

Super convenient place go pick up some kolaches and pretty decently priced too! I definitely prefer the savory kolaches but the cream cheese ones are really good too! I just wouldn't be able to eat as many of those but then again, I don't have that much of a sweet tooth. I definitely want to come again to try out some more flavors and some other food options! I also really like that you can buy some of the older baked goods packaged and for a discount, although fresh is obviously best. read more

I don't know who at Valero or Foodie's managed to get Weikel's Bakery to open an outlet attached to the station / convenience store, but it's a brilliant idea. Weikel's is a Czech-themed shop selling pastries, cake, and sandwiches - and they're dang good, especially in making the Texas Gold Standard: the kolache. The cherry kolache is one of the best I've had, and I can't wait to go back and try a sandwich, or the amazing looking key lime cheesecake. Definitely recommend this place as a stop-and-try if you're on the 183! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Love love love this place. I will drive out of my way to pickup some excellent kolaches

Foodie's is a combo of a Valero Gas station with a decent number of pumps & standard convenience store items inside, a made-to-order tacos, burgers, smoothies & coffees station (Foodies), and a licensed Weikel's bakery with assorted Kolaches, Pig's-in-a-blankets, and treats. Visited on a Saturday morning during their opening weekend, and despite being before 8am, they already had a small line and options were starting to become limited. I suspect this has a lot to do with being new to our local options, but if not hopefully they'll quickly be able to gauge how much to prep the night prior within a few weeks to keep up & keep folks happy. (A little girl with her mom was so sad when they were out of cinnamon rolls already, aww). While the Weikel's offerings are nowhere close to the awesomeness of Slovacek's, the fact I don't need to take the 3hr roundtrip journey up to West to get decent Kolaches is a huge plus and I can overlook that. I have high hopes for this trio of business options under one roof, and will be keeping my eye on them. read more

Kolaches sounded like the perfect morning treat for this snowy Sunday!. This place was getting rave reviews so I decided that I must try! Weikel's definitely did not disappoint. Easily the best Kolaches I've ever had. They were warm and fresh, and I got almost every flavor I wanted. I got there around 10am, so they weren't quite sold out of everything yet, but they do sell out early from what the guy told me...especially on weekends! Had a sausage egg and cheese taco as well, and it was excellent. Place was really clean, everyone was wearing masks, and the staff was friendly. I am glad they came to Leander. Have visited another location on trips to Houston but too far to drive. These are real German kolaches that are light buttery soft cakes filled with sweet toppings. The pastries were all very fresh and delicious. We always get the cream cheese filled but the fruit filled are also good. It was just my wife and I and she ordered 4 snd the clerk told her that for the same price she could get half a dozen. Don't know if that was a special of the day or if it's the normal pricing. These always seem to be located in large gas station/convenience store places so don't be put off by the location.they also serve sandwiches and coffee as well. There is limited inside table seating. If you have a sweet tooth, it's worth the trip. read more

I know my sausage n cheese kolaches and these are alright at best. I went to four donut shops this morning looking for donuts for the grandkids and Kolaches for the adults. Found donuts at HEB and Kolaches at Weikel's. I was surprised they were open, but I'm glad they were. My daughter and son in law and grandkids were heading back to CA today and she wanted sausage n cheese kolaches (for the 3rd time this wee) before they hit the road. She enjoyed them, but to me they were alright at best. My son in law said they were alright at best as well, and Mrs. Texas loved the bread but hated the sausage. The sausage had a weird taste (seasoning wise). I'm glad I was watching them pack em. They got sausage n cheese for the first pack, then ham and pepper Jack for the second pack and I told him they were wrong. They bag the kolaches after you order them. This too caused the bottoms to get gooey from the moisture buildup in the bags. This would be my last resort for sausage n cheese kolaches, but they saved the day today 1.1.22 read more

Had been waiting for this to open up for quite some time. It definitely did not disappoint, the gas station itself is very nice with a wide variety of items available. But the bakery is the best part, they offer so many drinks and food options for a very affordable prices. This is a really neat convenience store that includes the bakery and the deli. It has Valero gas, a walk in beer cooler, and flavored coffees. They have hamburgers and Mexican food. So this is solely a review of their klobasneks. Of course they call them pig in the blankets but wtf. I get the sausage with cheese and jalapeño. Grab a couple and throw them in the microwave for about twenty seconds. They are damned good. I'm talking going thru West and grab one good. Seems to be mostly Indians that work there but they got the recipe from some Czech grandma and are following it well. read more

I love a good kolache and/or klobasnek. Texans are spoiled with good food brought in by immigrants from all over. This is a great example. Outside of the magic that happens in West, TX, I've struggled to find really good kolaches in the Austin area. All the donut shops sell them but they are only ok. I got turned on to Weikel's up in Leander and decided to give them a shot on my most recent road trip. Glad I did. I was very pleased with both the Klobasnek, which used great bread and truly good sausage, as well as several type of fruit Koloches. It is located in a gas station, but that station is new and clean. The staff were friendly. Communication wasn't the easiest but pointing always wins the day. I say stop by and give them a try. I just tried Weikel's in Leander for the first time today. I ordered two jalapeño and cheese kolaches and they were some of the best I've had so far in town. The reason why I'm only giving it four stars is because the guy at the counter was not super friendly. read more

Wanted to see if this new place was really a Weikel's. I was expecting great kolaches and pigs in a blanket. It was very crowded when I arrived, so I waited for things to calm down. When I ordered, the server could not understand me. I asked for a cheese kolache and a sausage and cheese pig in a blanket. I stopped her as she went to bag an apricot kolache and pointed to the cheese ones. She did not understand sausage and cheese Pig in a blanket. I pointed to the sign on the counter. After all that, the pig in a blanket turned out to be filled with a single thin slice of ham. Really never seen that before. I was pretty stunned and very disappointed. But.....the kolache was good. I finally made my way over to this place. It has rave reviews for their kolaches and didn't disappoint in terms of flavor and texture. My favorite is the poppyseed. The sticky poppyseed filling with that fresh, soft kolache dough is next level. I had one and returned the following day for another but they were sold out. The lady was super friendly and helpful which was a bonus. Now for the reason I knocked off one star. I tried the apricot bar, honeybun and cinnamon rolls. I was totally unimpressed by all 3. The apricot bar was definitely not apricot and tasted like cheap pie filling. The cinnamon rolls and honeybuns are definitely not baked daily. The cinnamon roll was so dry and that honeybun tasted sour like it was days old. My suspicions were confirmed when I returned for a kolache and saw the exact same cinnamon rolls and honeybuns I saw the previous day. My two cents is go for the kolaches and skip everything else. read more

This review is not directed at Weikel's Bakery, but instead at the kitchen area adjacent to the bakery located in the Foodies Corner convenience store. There is no separate listing for the store or the kitchen. I would not recommend eating anything from this kitchen. I've witnessed cross contamination between raw and cooked items, a female openly sneezing and coughing while preparing food, food handlers and cooks refusing to wear gloves or masks while preparing food, employees not speaking basic English which complicates ordering, and a male manager who is not concerned with these issues. The health department should be notified! read more

i love Weikels in Lagrange so we were excited about the new Leander location - we bought 4 trays - all are significantly undercooked - the sausage rolls had raw dough on the bottom. Anyone packaging these would CERTAINLY have seen this - It can't be safe to eat these... Very Very Disappointed. read more

Kolache are so good. The customer service is great. It is definitely worth driving up from Austin. I am glad that there is a closer location now. My family and I have been waiting for this location to open. It looks like they are open from 6am-8pm. I will definitely return. read more

Have shopped at the La Grange bakery many times. The service there is excellent. It was not good here. Thought I would drive out here from Round Rock to get some cinnamon rolls and kolaches. The price for a 6 pack on the menu was not the same as the price charged. When I brought this to their attention, they didn't seem to care. They said the menu price on the board was wrong. It was wrong for 1 item by $2 and for another by $1. When I pointed this out, I was told they didn't have time to change the price on the board and the price had gone up and that is what they charged. I didn't get it because instead of saying we should have changed it on the menu board, instead they said it is what it is and it basically didn't matter what it showed on the price board. Will never shop there again, but will when I am near La Grange. Charge what you want, but advertise the correct price so you are not paying more at checkout. The price was wrong for most items on the board. read more
