I wouldn't stay here again even if you paid me! Aside from the younger girl working the night shift, the staff was incredibly rude and seemed to have little to no customer service skills. When I first arrived, my room smelled terrible, like rotting food. I went to the front desk to let them know, and the woman there couldn't have seemed less concerned. I was moved to another room, but it smelled just as bad. I tried to deal with it, but eventually had to ask to be switched again. The third room didn't have the same odor, but instead smelled like it had been doused in cheap air freshener to cover something up. Not exactly a great start. At that point I considered finding another hotel, but it was late and the room itself at least appeared clean. Unfortunately, the noise situation was just as bad. If you plan on sleeping past 6 am, don't count on it. Unless you're on the top floor, you can hear every footstep from the room above you. The floors seem to have virtually no soundproofing, and I heard the guests above me constantly throughout my stay. The location is great, I'll give it that. But honestly, that's the only positive thing I can say about this place. The customer service is awful, the staff is rude, the rooms smell bad, and the lack of soundproofing makes it nearly impossible to relax. Save yourself the headache and stay anywhere else. read more

Staff was AMAZING!! I called to see if they had a room available for an early check-in in and they said sure come on (2pm). They were super friendly and helpful. The bed was a little too soft for our liking and you could hear the people above you walking around making it hard to sleep. Other than those two complaints we enjoyed the room. The balcony was nice when people weren't smoking. The breakfast was nice with multiple options for everyone. Breakfast options included eggs, omelet, cereal, muffins, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, fruit, yogurt, pastries, sausage, coffee, juice, and there was plenty of seating. read more

We had a nice end unit room overlooking the harbor. The balcony is tiny, and the air conditioner leaks water all over it and spews out hot air, so it's not the greatest to sit out there. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was very nice as were the pillows. Great water pressure for a shower. As others have posted, the air conditioner is very noisy. The breakfast bar had a nice variety of choices which were all simple fare, but sufficient for our needs. Location was great, although we didn't really find anything to do. read more

My wife and I were on a week long road trip along the Maine coast and we were headed back to Portland. This place had good service and the breakfast was very nice. My only complaint is that it didn't have a pool. That is my biggest wish for my hotel. Uggh. There are some lighthouses within driving distance and it was a very pretty view of the harbor. It would have been 5 stars if there was a pool. I haven't even seen a hoel without a pool in a long time. Got some lobster rolls around here. All very good. Due to a unique set of circumstances, I required a hotel in Rockland very late one night and the front office person here was very accommodating. I would return on this basis alone. Rockland is a cute little town and seems like it would be a great spot to stop in the Summer.  We came the week before Thanksgiving so unfortunately a lot of the eats and shops were closed. The Rockland Harbor Hotel was perfect for our time here.   (one night). The hotel was a bit outdated but the room was great! It was HUGE and had a balcony, mini fridge, and microwave. They offer a free bfast which did the trick... although the coffee was not great.  I am not sure what they charge during peak season... I wouldn't say what we paid was terrible but it wasnt amazing either, and for the same price we stayed in a MUCH nicer hotel in Newport RI for the same price.  I would suggest staying at the Rockland Harbor Hotel if the price fits your budget no matter what time of year! read more

The room was nice, overlooking harbor. But the AC was very noisy but needed since even with window open room was warm. Included breakfast which was your standard fare, various cereals, scrambled eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit cup, apples, English muffins, bread, bagel, couple toasters, peanut butter, Nutella, jellies, juice and coffee. A lot of things kids would enjoy (pop tarts, uncrustables, sugary cereal). My main complaint was the advertised laundry services but there was only 1 washer. My daughter waited quite awhile and no one ever came to remove their clothes out of washer. She is much nicer than me, I would have taken it out. We ended up going to laundromat down the street to get our loads done at same time. Dining options were also somewhat limited. read more

Rooms are dated and could be cleaner but not terrible. Some peeling paint. Hallways dirty. Plumbing did not work. Shower and sink drains clogged, toilet did not work at all. Yes, there's a water view but it's across a parking lot and road. Not really picturesque. Told staff upon checkout. No offer to make things right. Do yourself a favor and go to the Hilton. This was a huge disappointment and I wish we had done more research before booking this hotel as the first stop in our road trip up the east coast. This is more of what I would consider to be a roadside motel and not a hotel. The staff was incredibly nice which is why I am giving this three stars instead of none. They had a cute little outdoor seating area which looked nice but was basically just a pen in a parking lot. I'm fact the "harbor view" isn't much of a view at all. After having some trouble getting our key cards to unlock our hotel door (should have been a red flag looking back), we got into our room and went out to explore the rest of the town. Rockland itself was pretty run down and not at all what we expected. I wouldn't stop over in Rockland again honestly. Once we got back to our room after dinner we found that our key cards were not working again. No big deal... I assumed they could just reprogram them. Wrong. The entire locking mechanism for our door had stopped functioning and they had no back up method or master override to get the room door open. After the poor staff tried to get the room (now with all of our possessions inside of it) open for a few hours, they called in someone else who ended up having to break the window to get us in to rescue our belongings. It was about 10pm by the time that happened and our 9 year old son was exhausted. They were kind enough to transfer us to a different room at that point and we ran out of there the next morning. Again, the staff was very kind and I assume this was in no way their fault but I heard someone who I assumed to be a manager mention that this wasn't the first time this had happened (?!). Giving the place three stars for the nice people who work here and since they did refund us, but I can definitely say that we won't be back. read more

This is a very comfortable hotel. Great staff, decent breakfast, nice sized room (we had a balcony overlooking the harbor which I would recommend) with a Keurig and fridge in the room. Decent sized TV and plenty of outlets in the room to charge phones etc. Linens were great and the bed was firm but comfortable. The location is pretty much within walking distance of the main attractions like the brew pub, Farnsworth museum and a bunch of other options for food, beverage and shopping. If you're in town for 1-2 nights this should be your go to spot to stay. read more

This is my "harbor view." As this is our anniversary weekend, I asked if they had a room at a higher level (hoping to not be sitting basically 8 feet above the hood of the car parked below my room). Nothing higher. How about one that at least has a full-on view of the harbor? No, not all of their rooms are open. One would think if you're just going to open SOME of your rooms, you would at least open the ones directly facing the harbor. Why would you choose to open the least desirable rooms you have? Am I happy? No, I am not. (P.S. On top of everything else, there is a couple on the top level, sitting on their balcony, directly facing the harbor, so everything he told me was also a LIE.) read more

Breakfast like any other free breakfast at Hampton Inn etc. "Private" balcony has two plastic chairs and over looks a road, big parking lot and buildings to the harbor. You can see the harbor between the power poles and transmission lines. If passing through town on business probably good place to stay if on vacation looking for upscale hotels this one is not for you. read more

After staying in several hotels for our trip to Maine (most were disgusting and run down) this hotel was such a Nice turn around. The place doesn't look like much on the outside but it is So clean on the inside, updated, has laundry facilities and the staff was So nice and accommodating. The views from the balcony are great as well. Good location to walk around town and/or to the Lighthouse. Breakfast down in the lobby has a great selection and coffee was surprisingly good as well. The staff!!! Had to get to airport for a flight and it was LOBSTER FESTIVAL PARADE!! Streets were closing for the parade! Had called taxi but couldn't confirm & thought it might not show. Both taxi services had shut down, so no info. Don't want to name names, but someone got permission to take me on the 8 minute ride to the airport. Then my taxi arrived & off I went. Rockland Harbor Hotel is the best kept secret on the Maine Coast. New owners have sunk much money into renovating this dinosaur property f a hotel. The staff was superb, friendly and well informed about area attractions. Our room with a balcony overlooked the harbor and beautifully decorated. High end fabrics, colors, carpets, towels and other amenities make you feel like your at a resort or spa. The price of the room includes a banquet of a breakfast. No Continental breakfast here. Home made waffles, western omelettes, bacon, turkey sausage, cereals, juices all were plentiful and delicious. Parking is easy and directly in front of the hotel. The location being directly across from the ferry terminals is ideal. Guests feel impressed before even entering the hotel by magnificent garden planters. I will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to all. read more

My husband and I decided to take a quick jaunt up the coast to Rockland for a night to enjoy dinner and check out the sights. We were lucky to snag a night last-minute. Turns out they had just opened earlier that week. Everything has been renovated and the decor is just the right mix of coastal and modern. Our room on the 4th floor provided a great view of the harbor. The cozy balcony gets a ton of sun in the morning - perfect for coffee drinking. Being the true Mainers that we are, we also enjoyed watching the cars and people coming and going from the ferries across the way. There's also a nice patio area with firepit in front of the hotel. We enjoyed a glass of wine there before we headed off for dinner at Rustica. I imagine it would also be a good place for a nightcap. The free breakfast spread was full of choices and the eating area was roomy with the feel of a restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge to stow our drinks and a microwave. We felt at home there, if just for one night. read more

I had to make a last-minute reservation due to weather and a quick bit of research showed the RHH as the cheapest option in town. I am normally a Hampton-fan, but the $50 difference in cost made me take a hot. Wow am I glad I did! I was given early check in and a room upgrade without asking. The rooms weren't lush by any means, but they were comfortable and really well laid out. A hand-written note from the cleaning staff was a really nice touch too. The bed was really comfortable, everything was super-clean and all the staff were incredibly friendly. When I had to check out at 4a, rather than having to track down the night staff (which has been my experience other places) they were waiting for me with a smile, a breakfast bag and fresh coffee that they had made because they knew I was leaving early. Zach was very polite and professional at check in. The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. The shower was very nice. We stayed on the fifth floor so I believe in a newer building but the whole property has been recently remodeled. Breakfast was actually pretty good and all items were kept full and warm. Rachel was very efficient at check out and pleasant to talk with. We'd recommend this hotel and would stay there again. It's across the street from the ferry docks and harbor. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching all the ships go in and out. read more

This hotel is newly renovated, and just opened its doors in June. Everything is fresh and new, and nicely decorated. The staff are friendly and helpful and provided us with useful information about the area and recommended restaurants. The rooms are spacious, and every room has a balcony which faces the harbor. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the rooms face east and I enjoyed several mornings with my coffee watching the sunset. Unfortunately, m the daytime the noise from the traffic below can be a little irritating, and when you sit on the balcony warm air blows on you from the next-door air conditioner.The breakfast room is spacious. Breakfast consisted of all the usual things, including fresh eggs and fresh fruit salad. Do not stay in room 214. The room was "deoderized" upon our arrival, but within an hour it reeked of cigarette smoke and vomit. The bed was uncomfortable and smelled. When we asked to have a room with a balcony, we were told they were booked up and didn't have any rooms with balconies, so we didn't bother asking for a new room. If we had reservations for more than one night, I would have packed my bag and left. Definitely NOT worth the $240. It was more what I would expect from a $60 motel. read more

I'm a Hilton Gold Honors member, I plan all my trips around Hilton owned places. No such thing in Rockland and that turned out to be a blessing! What a gem of a hotel! I felt like family here. Was feeling under the weather yesterday and Sandra opened up the juice machine from extensive morning complimentary breakfast and let me fill my cup unlimited while watching football on the big TV in the gathering area. As if that weren't enough to love this place, the fire pit outside won me over. Both nights, we sat by the fire on comfy cushioned chairs meeting and conversing with people from all over! Brought our "spirits" out with us and it beat sitting in a loud bar looking for entertainment. Huge plus for staying here. Clean rooms, amazing staff, fabulous location to lighthouses and the more pricey Camden, all for a reasonable room rate and amenities beyond compare! We hope to return one day! read more

Stayed here 2 nights with a friend during Lobster Fest, this hotel is brand spankin' new and you can totally tell. The staff at the front desk were all very nice and friendly. Free breakfast every morning which was great. The wifi was so good I could even use it outside of the hotel. The fire pit outside is pretty cool to hang around as well. I would definitely recommend this place if you come for Lobster fest it's just a short walk away, located right on the main strip, and you get a great view of the Lobster Parade from your room's deck. Overall, this was a great place to stay and if we come back next year we will definitely stay again. read more

I stayed here with my family because my sister stayed her a couple of years ago and really liked it. Unfortunately in that amount of time the hotel has apparently been through a lot of wear. The carpets in the halls and our room were worn and dated,especially in the halls. The newest carpet was in the stairwells, go figure. The breakfast was ok. Packaged muffins cereal yogurt and hot scrambled eggs everyday and either pre-made omelettes or fried eggs on a rotating basis every day. A waffle maker would have been nice or egg dishes with more flavor and variety. The breakfast room was always clean and well stocked. The worst part of our stay was this smell in our room. We thought it may have been from low tide but we couldn't get rid of it. My sister who was staying here at the same time said her room smelled too and said something to the manager. She was told they were short staffed and hadn't had a chance to replace all the ac filters. Also there had been a lot of rain recently. The day After she talked to Someone our room didn't smell anymore. Maybe they replaced the filter or maybe because the sun came out. We stayed here because we wanted to be close to town to walk in and shop and eat, but so many places were closed or closed early or you couldn't get in to eat at them that it wasn't really worth it. We kept hearing that places couldn't get help so they were only open limited hours and a couple of days a week. Covid aftermath. Not the hotel's fault but it does lessen the appeal of staying in town. Last the staff in the kitchen was good but we were a little surprised when we checked out at the desk manager's lack of responsiveness to our comments about the smell. She asked about our stay so we told her about the smell and what my sister said snd that the smell disappeared after that and she basically said nothing in response. No "we are sorry to hear that"or "i will write that down" and make sure it doesn't happen again. Nothing. Mind you this was a new desk manager the day we checked out. The other woman who was on the first couple of days was very nice and professional. I think next time i will look around for another place. Halfway through our stay I was thinking of trying to see if Samoset had rooms but didn't. I just read some of their reviews and i don't feel so bad about RHH now. Thats why i will give it 3 stars because it wasn't great but it could have been worse. read more

I enjoyed my stay at The Rockland Harbor Hotel for several reasons. Firstly, it appears to be very clean and fresh as it was recently remodeled. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and my king size mattress was more than decent quality. I appreciated the ultra white cotton sheets and lack of a traditional old fashioned bed spread. The balcony was small, just room enough for 2 small chairs, but I found myself spending more time out there than I originally thought I would, and being on the 4th floor gave me a pleasant scenic view of the harbor. Depending on the direction of the wind, occasionally there was a rather strong "fish smell" from the waterfront. Of course I don't blame the hotel, but I thought that I should note it in case that would be an issue for some other guests. The "fire pit" outside on the patio near the lobby offered a really nice touch. It was a great area to relax before bed, and I sat out there both nights. Luckily I had good weather and was able to take advantage of it. The staff was nice and accommodating. I accidentally broke a small item in my room and was expecting a scolding and a charge on my bill, but they seemed to understand how mortified I was and were kind about it. I wasn't charged for the item thankfully and I fessed up immediately. It's a great location for walking on Main Street and there is plenty of parking. If I had to pick a negative about the hotel, I wish the bathroom was larger (they are rather small) and the water pressure was consistently stronger. Oh, and the toilet seat didn't want to stay up all the time! None of these things would prevent me from returning for a second stay though. I would recommend this hotel! read more

We stayed here for a night just prior to an early morning ferry to Vinalhaven. As a parent of a 1 year old, I was thrilled with the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness and accommodating nature of the staff. Our daughter was into everything, and it was such a pleasure to stay in a clean room. The convenience of the fridge was also very helpful since we travel with food for the baby. Once we were on the ferry we realized that our car may have been left unlocked, and they were kind enough to confirm for us that we had indeed locked the car. Wonderful service and property! read more
