I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. I came in for a pedicure and paid $127 expecting a quality service. I arrived at 6:00 PM and requested a chrome French tip with a flame design and overlay tips. The technician agreed, but after multiple failed attempts (including spending 20 minutes trying to do one flame), I had to settle for a much simpler design because it was clear she could not deliver what was promised. The pedicure portion didn't even begin until after 8:00 PM and then felt completely rushed since the salon was already closed. For the price I paid, rushed and subpar work is unacceptable. To make matters worse, my big toe was done incorrectly, and instead of fixing it during my appointment, I was told to come back another day. No client paying this amount should have to return to fix a mistake that should have been corrected on the spot. I contacted the salon to resolve the issue, and instead of taking accountability, the manager (Helen) argued with me on the phone for over 10 minutes and refused to offer any type of refund or reasonable resolution. This experience showed a lack of skill, poor time management, and unprofessional customer service from both staff and management. I would not recommend this salon to anyone expecting quality work or accountability. read more

INACCURATE PRICING!!!!!! I've only been here for pedicure which are pretty decent by Rose. Yesterday I went for mani and pedi they changed me $75 for overlay!!!!! Terrible work and dishonest!!! I went in for a manicure and pedicure service and I told them what I wanted but after the service was completed and I was ready to pay, they robbed me of $20 over the agreed price, claiming that the nail polish they used was extra. 5 days later half of the nails simply just fell off and it wasn't even acrylic, it was the same shellac the manager said lasts longer. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I used to be a regular based on location and availability. But their quality has really gone downhill. And this past weekend was the last straw for me. I called ahead to schedule an appointment for a full set shellac with Theresa and a pedicure. Theresa is the only one there that I trust with my nails because she always does a great job. When I arrive for my appointment I let them know I'm here for Theresa. They tell me to pick my toe color. No problem. I see that Theresa is finishing up someone else but I think nothing of it. They seat me and begin on the pedicure. No problem since I had no preference who did my toes. Then someone came over to start to full set. It was Lynn. I didn't think anything of it since they have done this before when they will let someone start and someone else finish. Only, Theresa never finished, she actually never came over. I chose to let it slide because I didn't want to cause a scene and I never had Lynn before so I tried to give her a chance. Never again. My nails have WAAAAY too much acrylic on them, the paint job is uneven, the nails aren't the shape that I wanted, nor could she do the design that I asked for. I didn't notice any of this in the chair and it was my mistake for not wearing my glasses/contacts. But when I got home I was appalled!! I will never go to them again. Do not come here if you want to keep your nails strong!! I came here for a SIMPLE nail take off, and it seemed that they did not know how to do even that! The tech soaked and drilled my dipping powder off, and it was highly uncomfortable. I had to ask several of the staff members to supervise her because it was clear she didn't know what she was doing. I stopped my service with that tech and spoke to their lead, which was no help. Ended up leaving to avoid further nail damage. I would STRONGLY urge everyone to NOT come here. I went here yesterday to get a Regular Mani/Pedi to just keep up the maintenance of my nails and was pleased with my entire experience. I drove from their Westheimer location only to find out that they were closed when Google said they were open. They had a customer waiting along with me outside of the salon for a 6pm appointment and they never showed or thought to call to cancel the appointment. I was disappointed so I called the Holcombe location to let them know what happened and that I would be on my way ASAP to get a Regular Mani Pedi. When I got there they got to me ASAP and took their time being super precise during the entire procedure. It was really a pleasant experience. Louie did my pedicure and he did a great job. Lucy did my manicure and I thought she did a wonderful job as well. I noticed that when Lucy was doing my manicure the white polish she was using wasn't working properly and was applying really thick so after my first coat she left for a 2-3 to I guess find another polish...I'm not quite sure if she did. After sitting under the dryer I left being pleased with my outcome. However, when I got home I realized that the coats applied with really thick and bulky. All that to say I tipped $20 on a $55 service (regular Mani/Pedi with a cuticle trim for both) and I must say that I'm disappointed in how my manicure came out as I'm quite pleased with my pedicure. Ok - I said I would update after a few 'rounds' and here it is - I am definitely keeping this on my list. Sunny is awesome to work with and he's helping me repair and regrow my damaged nails. He is very gentle and does a great job. I have now had three gel nail services and I'm more than pleased with each time. I really try to be a fair person. I don't like to leave negative reviews but there have been at least 3 different occasions where I feel like the workers at this salon were being sneaky. 1. Per my first review, they charged me $12 for a wax paraffin treatment I did NOT ask for! It was my first time there so I decided to give them another chance even though I didn't appreciate that. Strike 1. 2. On another occasion, I was charged TWICE. There were (2) charges of $95 taken out of my checking account. And they were not pending. I called my bank and filed a claim and they credited it back to me. I also called the salon to ask about it. They said they would "never do that to their customers" and even sent me a pic of all the transactions that night and my charge was only listed once. So I thought it COULD have been a mistake. But I had my doubts. I debated not going back but it's so close to work and they do a very thorough job. And yet again, I gave them ANOTHER chance because of the convenience of the location and their excellent work. Strike 2. 3. Tonight I requested the DELUXE pedicure which is $50. But they charged me $70! I thought maybe their prices had gone up so I let it go. But according to their website, the prices are still the same. He charged me for the HEAVENLY pedicure when I specifically requested the DELUXE. I don't think "deluxe" and "heavenly" sound anything alike even if there was a language barrier. So WTH?! Strike 3. I can't imagine they are not doing this on purpose since these things have happened THREE times! It's a shame because I'm a nice customer and I always tip really well. But I'm not going to let any business keep taking advantage of me. Enough is enough. I shouldn't have given them so many chances. I feel like a chump. Another thing I wanted to mention is that they don't have "Happy Hour" discounts like they used to even though it's still being advertised here on Yelp. They have said to me it's only if you spend $50 or if you get the Deluxe pedi (or something like that) but that's not always the case. You can see from some of the other reviews that they have mentioned this as well. Also, I don't find the hot stone massage relaxing at all. It burns! Sometimes it's TOO HOT. The temperature of the water is also too hot at times. And I've NEVER been offered wine or even a glass of water for that matter. EVER. Honesty is VERY important to me. I wanted to give them two stars because I was annoyed earlier but I'll be nice and give them three because they didn't do a horrible job on my nails. Unfortunately though, the bad outweighs the good: PROS It's close to the medical center and they have online appointment setting available. They were pretty empty when I went (weekday afternoon) making it a quick process with no wait time. CONS The Happy Hour promotion is a scam. It's not a spa-like, relaxing place. It looks nice but it didn't seem like making me feel like I was important was a priority for them. They didn't offer a water, do any massages or anything. I didn't see the tools they used come out of a sealed bag so I can't guarantee that the scrubber or whatever it's called was properly sanitized. My feet were tragic so I had to take my chances. They say that if you come in before 2:30pm on a weekday, you'll get 20% off or something like that. I got no money off and once it was time to pay, she let me know that my total had to be $50 or more to get the discount. My total was $43 for a basic manicure and pedicure that barely took 30mins to do. That's pretty expensive if you ask me... I chose not to tip thin because of the happy hour pricing issue and I felt bad about it at first but now I don't care at all. When I left I saw that they were having some type of raffle, but they didn't give me a ticket for it. I assume I didn't spend enough money to participate in that either... They seemed to be in a rush and there were no other clients in the salon. I had to ask for her to cover my entire nails with base coat and I felt like I annoyed her. The up charge for the scrub and stuff they have for pedicures isn't worth it in my opinion, it's not like they use quality products. Overall, it's a nice looking yet basic nail shop. Would I go back? Then the lady that did my nails was touching al over my wedding ring and asking questions about it almost as if she was trying to size you up and see what type of tipper you are. Then she totally crossed the line when you entered even more into my personal space and grabs my necklace and started rubbing on it. The nail Tech seemed like he didn't know how to respond. He just let me bleed, I had to ask for alcohol and another tech came to put some type of powder on my finger which didn't stop the bleeding. That nail was also painted poorly and left to dry bumpy and uneven. My other pinky is painted half pink because the top coat brush he used was dirty with red nail polish. He didn't care and sent me on my way to the nail dryer. No massage, no lotion, bad paint, cut finger... I did receive a discount only after I complained about not receiving the massage so the manager didn't seem to care about my injury or lumpy bumpy painted nails. They wanted me to stay and continue getting work done so I allowed them to fix it and still was unhappy. I was still willing to pay but not full price and then I was threatened with police forces. I came to grand lux nail salon excited because it looked nice and of luxury, but it was the worst nail experience i've ever had. I came in with the coupon and asked when i first walked in about the 20% off which the receptionist said would be respected, so i continued on to get my mani and pedi. My pedicure was great the lady was nice. The nail tech for my fingers however used the filing machine on my nail so much my nails got extremely thin, but they were very healthy when i came seeing as i haven't gotten my nails done in 4 months. He filed down on my cuticles causing 3 of my fingers to be bleeding. He finished up my nails and when I left they were just okay. I go to checkout and it comes up to 97$ which isn't right because it should have applied the 20%. I asked why and she told me I didn't come on the right day for it to work. (even though i asked as I walked in if the coupon would work) The nails were not really the right shape and the nail sizes didn't coordinate but i said whatever. When I got home one of the acrylic broke. Then i went to get the nail fixed, and I leave with a totally different shape on the fixed finger and an even thinner nail and the next week i went out of town and two more broke. literally just broke and popped off at the slightest touch while i'm watching UPDATE: Five nails are broken I had to get them removed. read more

Choose another salon. This is probably the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. Please see the photos. Keep in mind this is the "after" of my manicure. There is dead skin everywhere and none of my nails are an even length, making it look like I didn't get a manicure at all. The nail tech didn't even bother to clean the debris out from underneath my nails. My pedicure color is uneven and lumpy (you can see on the glare in the picture) Both nail techs cut me, and the one on my toe is pretty bad and painful.
