The worst part is that one of our vehicles was broken into and thousands of dollars worth of belongings were stolen. There was a flurry of unloading supplies, all of us helping, and I'm sure one of the itenerants staying in that area saw a few-second opportunity and grabbed 2 backpacks, both containing expensive laptops, and many personal items. I say "itenerant" because we were housed with construction workers and others who were clearly not on vacation. Our party of 12 (All family, all ages) reserved 2 units. We were given units in a trashy area with construction on all sides, the view was mud and debris. We were not given linens for the sofa beds, called for them and were delivered a set for one unit, but not the other. Had to change one unit as the first did not have the 2 double beds we reserved. The outdoor pool and lazy river area were clean enough, but far from the nice pictures on the website. They advertise a pool grill, but it is just snacks, and closed at 4:00 pm. It was a good half mile from our lodgings, so we either had to hike down a hot sidewalk or load up the vehicle just to take the kids down. There was yellow construction tape hanging from a palm tree next to our door, clearly just taken from across the entrance. A broken lawn chair sat in front of the next unit, a big dumpster was parked in front of our rooms. I would not consider this place if you are looking to relax. We were really quite nervous!!

We stayed here for 4 nights right before Memorial Day weekend with my husband, our 19-month-old…read moreson, and my sister (who helped with occasional babysitting). We ended up loving it so much that we decided to extend our stay for an extra night. The location was honestly perfect. There was a Walmart nearby, the boardwalk and boardwalk mall were close, and there were plenty of restaurants within a short distance. The beach access was in a great spot, and the entire area felt very clean and safe. The outside pool area was modern, well maintained, and very inviting. The breakfast advertised in the lobby definitely lived up to expectations. Every morning there was a fresh breakfast along with a fun waffle-making station, which we really enjoyed. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely friendly and welcoming. There was also a restaurant on the main floor with a great atmosphere, and the food was very good. There were only two downsides during our stay. The kids' splash pad -- one of the main reasons we booked this hotel -- was unfortunately out of service the entire time due to needing a new pump. We understood that these things happen. The other issue was that the rugs in the room did not seem very clean. We ended up keeping our shoes on in the room, so it wasn't a huge issue for us personally. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely book this hotel again

The hotel staff were friendly and professional throughout my stay. There was also a gentleman working during breakfast on Sunday morning (I didn't catch his name) who was especially helpful and attentive. He had on a red shirt and long hair. Service like that truly makes a difference. That said, there were a couple of downsides. My oceanfront room had a noticeable wet dog smell, which was disappointing. Also, the $25 per night parking fee feels excessive. I've chosen to stay at this property for quick beach trips over the last 10 years, and unfortunately, the parking situation alone will likely keep me from returning. I also want to note that the hotel is currently under renovations (it is the off-season), so that's something to keep in mind when booking. While I'm not disappointed in the staff at all they were amazing the added costs and room issue were enough to make me reconsider staying here again.

Built in '85, it has 16 floors, 88 Condos. 1-2-3 BR's. Indoor & outdoor pools, indoor hot tub, video game room, pool deck bar & grill open during the summer. A very nice place for a FAMILY getaway! Beautiful ocean front views, easy access to the beach, and convenient to restaurants, fishing piers, and family fun! Again, the building is 35 years old, has withstood many hurricanes, and has areas that are a little outdated, however if you find an independent owner, that has upgraded their unit, you'd never know it was that old. ***Recommendation*** Find an independent owner to rent your getaway! Most independent owners have upgraded their units and take pride in their places! Services/Companies that have multiple units are the ones you see & hear of issues with their units! These are the "hustle in and hustle out" units. I own #604, am very picky of who I let rent my "home away from home". We've upgraded to hardwood linoleum floors, fresh paint throughout, new doors, new over/under washer & dryer, upgraded the kitchen and appliances, upgraded bathrooms, a king bed in master, 2 singles in small bedroom, and a fold out couch. I have flat screen TVs mounted in each bedroom and in den. Our friends that rent our unit, always come back! Thanks!

If I could give this place a zero star I definitely would. Everything about it was terrible from…read morethe really tight parking that you have to pay for. The staff there was not one single person that we ran into that was nice not a single one everyone was grumpy and upset and rude especially in the arcade. The girl they have working the ticket booth was swearing while she was on the phone with her friend while she was working. Do not get the refillable cups because that machine doesn't work most of the time and when you ask them to fill it up because that one's not working they get really grumpy with you. The room was very outdated we were in building one and it was like going back in time. Just came from the breakers so we should have stayed there we will never go back here. The stains on the couch and the fact that there is no outlets besides underneath the very short nightstand. The door to the balcony feels like it's going to fall apart. The bathroom is very strange you cannot really close to the door unless you're like in the bathtub. Now let's get to the pools again these people are very rude. The fact that you have to walk all the way over to get the towels and then bring them back where they're going to charge you $5 even though you don't get to really dry off is crazy now I know why people brought their towels. The boys did enjoy the water slide however we did not enjoy all the little puddles to get into the water park it just felt like something wasn't draining correctly so you're stepping into gross water. The pools were okay, it's a lot of trying to figure out where to go and what is a hot tub and what is not? The lazy river is very shallow and I know you have to be in a tube and that's fine but I don't like to lay in a tube I just like to like float in a tube while being in it but I couldn't do that because I'm too tall. I mean the elevators took forever there wasn't one thing we liked about this hotel. Arcade is a complete rip off, I would never be back! Please avoid

Then there's a $40 incidental fee or a $250.00 hold on my credit card, which could take up to 7 days to remove. The elevators in the second tower are just disgusting with all the construction going on. The view from my oceanfront balcony room is two ropes hanging from above, and there's orange fencing and cones everywhere below near the pools. To top it all off, the lady at the front desk had a nasty attitude. There are many other nicer and friendlier resorts in Myrtle Beach- I suggest trying one of those. This will be our last trip to Crown Reef.
