Great location, nice facility. This restaurant just opened up in our area. The service was great. We had gobi Manchurian (deep fried cauliflower in a sweet and sour sauce), which was 10/10 and samosas to start. No pictures because it looked and smelled so good we just dove in and ate it. Ordered chicken tikka masala, which is basically the standard any Indian restaurant can be measured by. It was excellent. The sauce was creamy and very flavorful. The chicken was tender chunks of breast meat meticulously cut into squares 8/10. It came with basmati rice, which is the king of rices. It's so nice to have very good Indian food in Riverside again. The flavors are strong but not too intense. I've ordered off of the menu twice and had the buffet once. I prefer to order from the menu because the food comes out fresh and amazing! The buffet is fine, but a little overpriced. It's not $$ it's more like $$$ $50 for two buffets and one drink. They don't speak clear English so when we asked for garlic naan they didn't explain it would be an additional cost. Then when ordered an ice tea it was barely enough for a gulp and it would had been nice for them to mention the free hot tea. The food was just okay nothing special. The pakora tasted stale and tough, the mutten was mostly fat - so gross, there were a few more dishes that were hard as rocks to eat and chicken in one of the two offered was dried out. The service was good but they hovered often when you were at the buffet counter trying to get your food. It was as crowed with them following and not sure why they were watching what you were selecting. They asked twice if we liked the food but are really going to tell them we won't be back because of the issues mentioned above. And the forks and knives are open for us to take but I saw a bunch of people putting their hands all over more than what they are using and with Covid that was disconcerting. Indian is one of my favorite cuisines and 5 Rivers is a very welcome addition to riverside. It's at least as good as Gandhi or Al Karam. This place is amazing. We came here last night and the food was phenomenal I'm very lucky to have something that's close to home usually we travel to Los Angeles to eat great Indian food. They specialize in north and south Indian and Indo-Chinese food which is really awesome because it's a great variety the service is fantastic and I think the best restaurant is the best in the area I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a good Indian restaurant in the Riverside or surrounding area. The food was absolutely delicious! We came for lunch they had a buffet offering ($22.00) or you can order entrees. We went with the buffet so we could try multiple things. They had butter chicken, chicken curry, paneer masala and other items. The buffet came with unlimited naan and it was probably the best naan I have had. ZERO STARS !!!Super disappointed and DISGUSTED. I had high hopes for this place because of all the reviews. I haven't tried Indian food before and decided to try this place. We sat at the table for 40 minutes before even getting 1/5 items of what we ordered. We just sat there looking at the plate they served us because we had nothing to eat it with, no rice no nothing. When we did get our second item they served it to the couple next to us. When the server realized they gave it to the wrong couple the server LITERALLY took the plate that the couple ALREADY put their spoons into and served themselves BACK TO US then when the server realized we didn't want it he told us he would make a new one, then he goes to the back and you can hear him yelling at the cooks THEN he brings back THE SAME plate and gives it BACK to the couple next to us AGAIN and tells them it's their food. Right after that we just paid for the 1/5 items they bought us and left. I'm pretty sure the couple left as well once we did. So disgusting! And on top of that, the couple next to us was there at the restaurant before us and only got served 1 thing, literally no rice or anything! TERRIBLE SERVICE TERRIBLE FOOD Also while we were sitting there waiting, my bf and I noticed the manager or whoever it was just staring at us every time we looked up like if he had something to say or if we were doing something wrong. Even my boyfriend made it comment it me about it. The worker ended up coming up to us and asking if we were from Mexico and visiting. My family and I went here for dinner last night, and I have to say that both the Northern and Southern Indian cuisine was phenomenal! The food was nice and spicy, and the aromas and spices made it easy to relish each dish. I got the onion spinach pakoras, chicken 65, Hyderabad chicken dum biriyani, Kari mutton dosa, chicken korma, and the idli sambar. The waiters and waitresses were also very hospitable. You can go crazy with the ordering, use caution- they have a large menu and it all sounds so good. We've only ordered the garlic naan but they have other tasty sounding options, one with green chiles. The paneer tikka masala was another stunner, large cubes of fresh paneer, absolutely delicious. The restaurant has adult beverages as well. The service is impeccable. They are very attentive and come to check on you regularly. The room is bright and cheery, nice tv in the corner playing Bollywood hits. There is seating for small parties or larger groups can be accommodated. One thing we love there- the owners come over and check on you. They are both extremely humble and kind. I tried 5 Rivers for the first time last week and really enjoyed my meal of saffron lamb Bhuna with added green chili as I like spicy. It was a quiet night and the server was very attentive. The menu is extensive and there are many dishes I want to try next time. I returned to try the buffet lunch and I obviously picked the wrong day and time. Firstly I was seated at a table with a dirty cloth. The same server was busy with a large table and two other tables. The buffet items were low but as people were still getting food I presumed they would refill the chicken tikka Masala and other curry dish. There was no meat biriyani, no fruit dessert or chai left. I managed to get a small helping of salad remaining in the dish, a spoonful paneer biriyani and the curry gravy and 1/4 naan bread. The food was barely warm. I finished my plate and paid. I mentioned to the server that I was disappointed in the buffet, he and another man apologized saying they had a party of 16-20 without a reservation. He said he would discount my check which was kind. The buffet is $20.99 and the discount was 10% which was a joke for the food I had eaten. I am in the industry and would of waived the check or been honest and stated that the buffet was closed for the day as there was no intention to replenish items. I will give the buffet another try because it is the best Indian food in the area having tried all other places. My suggestion is to go early 11.30am rather than any later than 1pm and you should be fine. I am sure these are minor teething problems with a new opening and trying to gauge business. read more

What a surprise find! We just looked up the place in Google on the way back from Big Bear Lake and decided to try it based on reviews and the menu. The menu is diverse ranging from North Indian dishes, South Indian fare, Indo-Chinese. We tried Dosa, Samosa Chaat, Butter Paneer Masala, Haka Noodles and were so impressed with the freshness and flavor of all the dishes. Sambhar was one the best we have had and we've tried in several restaurants in SoCal area and other cities. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, flavors are authentic and not over powering with curry masalas which happens often in Indian restaurants. A must stop if traveling around Riverside.
