I'm beginning to doubt the authenticity of Yelp reviews. I just left this restaurant after trying their buffet lunch. While they did have goat on the buffet, everything on the entire cart was ice cold. The waiter was pleasant and took my rice and curry goat to the back to heat it up. I then decided to try some saucy chicken, but it was also cold, so he took it back again. When it returned, the chicken was so tough that I couldn't even cut it with a fork. I ended up spending twenty dollars for the worst Indian buffet I've ever experienced. I've eaten here before, and it's always been just average; I wasn't expecting anything great, but this was ridiculous. Used to be 5 Rivers Indian Restaurant, under same owner we were told but different management and chef. All the food were amazing taste and maybe ordered the butter chicken to be medium as we ordered mild but despite it's yummy, we would have wanted it to be as flavorful as everything esp our fave tastes 555 paneer and the soup. My family absolutely loved this restaurant! The buffet here is always well stocked and they never scrimp on the samosas. And for service! The waiter met us at the door and made us feel welcome and at home. He helped us with every question we had on the menu, and we never had to ask for drinks or if they were ready to take our order. The food we ordered, from the menu, represented some of the best of the Punjab, and my littlest daughter, who isn't the most adventurous, found a variety of foods, drinks, and desserts she was willing to try. Definitely a win! My mother and my own son both enjoyed each dish, in a beautifully decorated booth with open air and plenty of light for perfect ambiance without having to eat outdoors. i have been here once before for the buffet! came yesterday and it was just as nice. the food is warm and fresh. the vegetables and prawns they have seem to be very popular so they are either empty or a bit too over cooked (the vegetables) but they are quick to help you out. they cooked some more prawns to order and i remember the first time they put out a new order of vegetable pakora i just didn't want to bother them this time since we were the last ones for buffet. so so many options! they have a cold bar with salad and dessert and two bars of just warm food. many vegetarians options and multiple meat and rice options. i believe the menu changes also! before they had the chicken option of tikka masala and this time butter chicken. another thing they changed also was the rice. they always have plain basmati rice but this time they had two more (the to die for vegetable biryani and the hyderabadi chicken dum biryani). last time they also had a different dessert option seviyan kheer (vermicelli milk pudding) and this time ras malai (cheese balls in a creamy milk sauce). lastly, this time around had more vegetarian options. last time we only saw the paneer tikka masala and yellow lentil soup (maybe dal shorva)...this time we had the paneer butter masala, dal makhani, and a type of chickpea curry dish. they were both delicious. the cost for lunch buffet is $15.99 and runs from 11am to 3pm. i think it is a pretty good deal! the service makes it worth it even more. they are very attentive and walk around taking used dishes/refilling water (or in my case leaving a pitcher because i kept drinking so much). they also were quick to put in an order or their fresh made naan. they asked us if we would like some right away before we even sat down. they even brought out some gulab jamun for us after we finished eating! the ambiance is nice and peaceful. the workers were pleasant and the music they had on wasn't too loud. we could hold a conversation or stop to look at music videos or the olympics! will be coming back again. it is so welcoming and nice. read more

I called in a pick-up order this evening. It was my first time trying this place and it was absolutely delicious! I used to patronize Punjab Palace when they were located nearby on Magnolia & Tyler. I haven't been able to find a place just as good...until now! Yay I found a new spot. I ordered goat vindaloo and aloo Gobi (cauliflower). Well I actually ordered lamb vindaloo and baingan bharta (eggplant) but I was called back a few minutes later and told that they were out of lamb and that they did not have the eggplant dish. Oh well I'll try those dishes next time. I was also disappointed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price and they did not come with rice. I had to pay for the rice separate. This review is based on two visits. This is a small-ish Indian buffet. The food here is good and fresh but the selection is small. On my last visit for lunch I had the chicken curry, butter chicken and some paneer cheese dish. The food was very good and it was not busy there. I would like to see Tandoori Chicken offered as well as Palak/Saag Paneer. The buffet comes with plain naan, add garlic naan for a back more. I think the lunch buffet is $17. Four stars! read more

Attitude and communication, I had my wedding reception at this place and paid for food and bar and servers. The owner without any communication with us at the end of the reception asked us to pay $1500 more to eat we paid for because he cooked extra food and bartended and turn on dance floor lighting which we did not ask him to do . AMAZING FOOD AND EVENT SPACE. We came for Jaggo as part of a Sikh/Punjabi wedding and it was one of the funnest parties we've ever been to, part of the good experience was the space and the food. The tables were nicely decorated in vibrant colored cloth and the sound system was amazing, so we really got into the vibe with the Indian Music blasting. The dancefloor ended up covered in hundreds of one dollar bills and my only wish was that part of the room could have been darker and not under full light. High ceiling and very spacious on the inside, it also has a nice layout with a separate bar area that won't create unsightly lines inside the venue space. There are changing rooms and large clean bathroom for guests. Food was in heated trays and we loved it. Appetizers and food can be customized and we had chicken and lamb as part of appetizers and the main dishes. I loved the pakora, expertly fried and crispy and filled with vegetables. Other standouts were the lentils and tandoori chicken. The lentils had a nice heat level a touch before what I would call spicy and it made alcohol consumption easier. All of the guests commented how insanely tender the chicken was, cooked properly so it was super soft and not falling off the bone. read more

Visited this location for an event in the banquet hall and was pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality and taste of the food even with such a big group! The mango Lassi was pretty good and I would definitely recommend trying it. For food, everything was a little spicy and the mixed vegetable rice wasn't my favorite but other than that all the entrees were good. Shahi paneer was tasty as was the grilled vegetable platter, these were my 2 favorite things there. I will say that the naan was pretty rubbery and difficult to eat. We tried to go in but the door was locked. We even knocked on the door....but no answer. In the recent past you'd have to drive to Artesia to get an Indian restaurant this authentic and a menu as diverse for many regions and states in India. Fortunately, that situation has changed for Riverside. Located off the 91 Freeway near Tyler on Indiana, you'll find plenty of parking out front. Inside there's a vast banquet room for special events, but the main dining room is nicely appointed with spaced tables and comfortable high-backed embroidered chairs. I didn't get a close look at the drink options but they do offer wine and cocktails, possibly beer too. Service is fast and friendly and the menu is nicely laid out over a large format four-page illustrated spread. I was most excited about trying the Dosas, those giant crépes made of ground rice and lentils stuffed with vegetables and spices typically. However, they offer quite a few options and mostly vegetarian too if that matters to you. This is definitely something you'd only find in Artesia (or Evanston, Illinois where I first was acquainted with Dosas). We ordered something familiar in Korma with chicken to see how they rendered it, as well as Khatta Meetha Baingan, a spicy dish of baby aubergines (eggplant), some garlic Naan, and Samosas to start with. Pompadons were complimentary and I enjoyed the rich, viscous and sweet tamarind sauce. The spicy green sauce was also excellent and had progressive heat. The Samosas arrived first, freshly fried but not dripping oil at all (that means the frier is at the correct temperature). Delicious and robust, highly recommended. My Masala Dosa arrived next. A near-by table also got a Dosa, where mine was folded parcel style, theirs was a scroll about two-feet long! Either way this is a dish to relish and you can only use your fingers. The object is to maneuver the filling into each pinch then dip into one or more of the accompanying chutneys. All fresh, all superb and completely different from each other. The Naan was cooked in the clay Tandoor oven, and reflects the quality and attention to detail in every dish. The eggplant surprised me the most. Normally I'm not a big fan, that's her domain, but I tried some and it's sweet and spicy all at once. We both loved the Korma, the whole spices crushed to order lent a little kick of heat but the sweet finish was unexpected. I mentioned that to our server and he said it came from the heavy cream added at the end of preparation. The food is exemplary and everything stood apart in spices and textures. We got to talk with the executive chef, a charming and passionate young man named Kannan Krishna. He studied at a culinary school in India and was hired to essentially bring Artesia closer to the growing Indian and Bengali population in the Riverside and Eastvale areas. We chatted about the food and their plans for catering and cooking on location. I'm so excited about eating here again and soon. Recently Riverside proper has been getting some new restaurants, so this is one of the standouts. I love all the Indian and Pakistani restaurants in town but this menu brings new options that are a cut above and very reasonably priced. read more

This is our second visit in about two weeks so we enjoyed it a lot. The food is delicious, the service is great too. It's a very quiet place on Sunday night and we are alone. Beautiful music playing. TV's on sports but not too loud. I'm excited to try new things tonight!! Well, the food was great tonight as well. My husband didn't get everything that he ordered but we had more than enough food. 5/5 Best Indian restaurant in Riverside. I wouldn't go anywhere else ! They have a nice huge venue to rent out with a bar also. Food: I ordered a chicken vindaloo- medium spicy. The spice was perfection with the right amount of kick. The curry was nice and thick not soupy. Spices were balanced well. Side dishes: Rice was amazing and fragrant. The rice grains were fluffy and loose no stickiness at all. -Garlic naan was hot & taken freshly out the oven. The bread could be more fluffier but thats personal preference. Service: 10/10 attentive, kind, and hospitable. They even offered good recommendations when certain items unavailable Ambiance: Clean and new. Comfy seats remind me of Isfahan rugs. Bangra to house to Bollywood music in the background. I felt like I was transported out the country. Excellent overall. I wish this new business to succeed. This place was SO GOOD! My husband and I went for lunch last Friday. We had the Butter chicken, cauliflower appetizer, rice and garlic Naan. It was amazing!!! Service was great! Definitely recommend. I know a few people were saying it was expensive, but not to us. I had a hot tea and we had the "Cucumber salad" as well. It was $50. We did share everything, but it was more than enough.
