I requested quote on yelp for moving companies, I decided on Grandmas Boy at the end, because their rate was reasonable and included all the services/coverages I was looking for. The people who answered the phones were professional and nice. I needed to add stops (to get my new couch) on moving day and they agreed to make it happen! My move date was early June, I was moving from CA to Seattle, and most of my stuff was in 2 U-Haul boxes. Grandmas Boy was on time, they moved all my stuff on their truck quickly. Excellent and hard working crew consisting of Komisi, Erick, and Abraham. They were very professional and efficient.

It was not a great experience overall. Some of the furniture and walls were damaged during the move, and I was charged a high travel time fee without any estimate beforehand. While the drive between the two houses took me 20 minutes, they charged for 1 hour and 10 minutes. On a positive note, the movers themselves were very friendly. Compared to a moving company my friend used, this service charged more despite spending less time on the job. Additionally, the basic insurance is virtually useless; it only covers a minimal amount for damaged items. If you want full coverage, expect to pay over $200 extra. Reply to owner's comments: There was no mention in the initial communication that travel time would be charged, and while I understand it's reasonable to do so, I was told the route was pre-mapped, so in google map it takes 55 minutes, yet I was charged for 1 hour and 15 minutes. When we discussed the estimate, it was based on all the items I had at the time, but I moved a portion of them myself after changing the moving date from 9/2 to 9/17. Despite this, the final charge still aligned with the original estimate, which doesn't seem accurate given the reduced workload. read more

Great movers, super careful with all of our furniture and wrapped everything that was fragile as well as wrapping furniture by request too. They even managed to load a big ole ford six 300 engine in too with my engine hoist! Was very impressed and so glad I didn't have to deal with the headache of moving that. We moved into a split level home with the kitchen/living/dining room on the 3rd floor and a roof top patio on level 4 and these boys carried all of our stuff up to the top of the house no problem, as well as bringing a large massage chair to the 3rd floor. No damage to the furniture or walls at all. Very impressed. Took a little longer than we expected due to the logistics of the home layout not being very straightforward. I felt bad they were pulling such long hours but Josh and crew were very friendly and even at the end helped us arrange our sectionals and couches, and put rugs in place under furniture. No headache at all with the move, was very stress free for us and the price was super worth it. My husband and I spent about a week prior moving in boxes to our new house to try and save money, but looking at the efficiency of grandmas boys movers I think in the end our hours of work probably would've only taken them like 30 minutes thank you so so much for all your help read more

We really enjoyed our move with Grandmas Boys from start to finish. It was extremely easy to get an estimate (it was accurate) and information on moving options. Erick and Matthew were our movers! They were polite, professional, and incredibly efficient. These guys really hustled but were gentle with all items. Another important note is that these guys are HONEST. My partner accidentally broke one of our lamp plug protectors while assisting Erick and Matthew. Erick noticed the broken lamp part later while transferring items to our new place and brought it to my attention, thinking he had been responsible for the break. He apologized profusely and said he felt terrible, but I let him know that it was actually my partner's fault for the break. I called these guys after reading the great reviews and they did not disappoint. They had another job in the AM in Seattle and once finished, they drove through rush hour to get to us. Once we did a walkthrough, they immediately started and were so quick with moving our stuff. They made sure to wrap certain furniture to ensure that they wouldn't get damaged. David disassembled and reassembled three bedframes and was really quick with it. While David was working on the bedframes, Derek and Eric were running up and down our stairs with arms full of furniture and boxes. When moving heavier items, they made sure to be safe and kept tabs on how everyone was feeling about their weight load. We had alot of larger furniture that we needed to move to the garage to have them picked up to take the dumpster, which wasn't part of the original plan for the movers. We asked if they could help move these furnitures into the garage because my dad's helpers bailed on us last minute. They were more than willing to help us out! Everyone remembered and used our first names throughout for that extra level of personal care. Job 1: - Unloading: 15ft UHaul. Drive way to 6 rooms in 2 story house. Heavy / Weird / Fragile Furniture? "No sweat." - Location: Graham WA. (and yes we absolutely knew and agreed to the drive time cost from their base in Northgate. It was worth every penny!) Movers: - Darren - Polite, Approachable, Big guy. Took the lower/heavy end of larger furniture and bore the weight on stairs like he was carrying feathers in a box. - Javon - Energetic, Motivated, Engaging, Fast! The bulk of boxes / totes moved safely and smartly to prevent leaning or falling over, was handled by this amazing gentleman. - Results: 6 Stars! Crazy heavy furniture, Extremely awkward collapsing mattress in a bag, Kayaks, Glass furniture (why mom?), you name it. Fast and Flawless. The house had a brand new barely dried paint job with wainscoting molding sticking out. Not a knick or scratch! Couldn't believe it. We were quoted for a total of 3hrs to 5hrs max to include drive time and unloading, and they finished the job and waived a fee due to securing the job with a deposit. I immediately set to booking them again for Job 2. -------------- Job 2: - Unloading: 4x UPack Pods (10ft Tall, 8ft Wide, 6ft Deep) full! - Location: Same home in Graham WA. Movers: - David (Owner) - Genuinely caring and professional throughout. Asked important clarifying questions both before and during the movement of exceptionally heavy furniture for exacting placement. Never shied away from asking about a better approach or option to move items safer and faster. - Shawn (spelling?) - Awesome guy! Decided to go with highly reviewed and more expensive movers rather than U-Hauls recommended third party movers to ensure our stuff was packed safely. Worked with Darren and Javon for a recent move. Both movers were pleasant, professional and organized. However, after arriving to my new destination we found our TV stand clips were laid bare with full contact on the bottom of the U-Haul while secured with a tarp and rope to a wooden beam. Both of our TV stand legs were broken facing the wall side of the truck, not the inside meaning nothing slide and broke this, and splitting the entire back panel off our TV. When I spoke to David about this issue to notify him I was told they were not responsible since I had signed off on this and they were not at fault. David claimed I likely had loose items loaded into the U-Haul, since one of the movers reported they saw items out to load (which was for our car) when they returned to our townhome to drop off screws they had accidentally held onto. Our U-Haul was locked and our car in the garage with items in it. During this conversation David had also claimed that if the screen was not broken but the clips and back of the TV were then they did their job safely securing the TV during our load. We also found our new bedroom set full of deep scratches and chipped paint which we will have to redo. While I found the movers kind, personable and I understand mistakes happen I felt compelled to write this review due to my conversation with David and his disregard for notifying him of errors, several defensive and accusatory statements and lack of accountability. Otherwise I would have taken an apology and assurance they'd prevent this from happening in the future, rather than reimbursement and not written a review at all. read more

Service was awesome! Very easy to see why they have been able to do this for 7 years. David and Shawn (I believe that was his name, if not I truly apologize) were very professional and very friendly. We moved here to WA and called them the day we arrived to have our things moved into a storage unit for the next day. We were still able to get a quote and an appointment from David, despite how last minute it was. He showed up very promptly as he said he would, and they gave us a courtesy call an hour before they were going to arrive. He walked my husband through the paperwork and talked with him about how we wanted the storage unit packed. The process of unloading the truck went very quick with only two people. Nothing got broken or destroyed in the process of unloading everything. We had a little issue when it came to the payment due to technical issues on our part (my husbands phone gave him an error when paying with Zelle and my phone had died and left my charger at the hotel) but they offered to take us to the nearest branch of our bank so that we could take out cash. Despite the inconvenience they were still considerate and professional when dealing with us! I appreciate their patience with that. We did a full DITY PCS move( letting military families know since we are in similar predicaments lol) from NY to WA in 8 days and we were mentally and physically exhausted. All in all we had a great experience with them and look forward to using their services when we move into our new home soon. I had the pleasure of working with David and Darren. Not only were they exceptional at moving, they were incredibly personable, polite, respectful, and friendly. At the end of the job i felt like i had made two friends. They are hands down the best movers I've had the pleasure to work with. They showed up at the latter half of the 5 hour window. We did two walkthroughs of the home to confirm what they would move. After that, they quickly and carefully loaded my boxes and furniture into the truck. In no time, they were loaded and met me at my new place. They were meticulous in making sure the furniture was set exactly as I wanted (even when it was cumbersome or really heavy) and offered welcomed suggestions whenever asked. Even with all of this above and beyond service, they came in under the quoted time and budget! David is a passionate small business owner, which you can see when he shows up driving the truck and makes sure that your property is treated with the utmost care. These people were AMAZING! I had heard that a lot of times movers tended to be apathetic and these guys were the opposite. They communicated well, they treated my furniture like it was their own, and they were truly running back and forth from the truck, not wasting a moment of time. I was so impressed.
