On 4-11-2026 I made a order of Carlos homefries they sent me burn fries raw onions and cheese it taste terrible I called, they stated that it was supposed to be made like that I'm very disappointed I will never go back.it went right in the trash I was not able to eat it. Grandpa's is another hidden gem that I have passed by several times. Today I met a friend there for breakfast. It's your typical diner, with your basic diner menu. I ordered Mama's Deal that was two eggs, home fries, toast , and coffee. The eggs were cooked to order, and the home fries are small cubes of potatoes which are nice because they are more seasoned and nicely grilled. They have booths, tables, and counter seating, as well as outside seating. The food was very good, service, and coffee was excellent, and they are reasonably priced. Had no prior bad experiences, besides minor things like fries being too soggy or veggies unseasoned, etc. Didn't bother me all too much, since whatever protein I got was fine, though the steak can be dry. But morning of 11/22, I called in a breakfast order, egg and cheese sandwich with turkey on it. Phone girl said there'll be a $3.99 extra charge on it. Fine. I picked it up, got home, and no turkey. Not a big issue cause I figured they'd give me credit for next time I order (which I do every now and then). I called to see if they can do that and the phone girl said they can remake it (again, requiring me to drive across town and pick it up) I said that's not feasible and she said she'll have the owner call me since there's no manager or shift supervisor that can approve the credit request. I asked is it necessary to wait for a call from the owner for $3.99 and the phone girl said I was being rude and hung up. I brought back everything I ordered and asked for a refund. Somehow there was someone in charge to work the computers to give me the refund, which one of the waitresses said will take up to a week. Overall, 0/5 experience on the morning of 11/22, mostly because of whoever the phone girl is. If I could give it no stars I would, I've been here a few times trying to give it another chance and nothing changes, not only is it slow service it's terrible service, waited over 40 minutes for some eggs and toast & a grilled cheese for my child when I go there in person to eat, the wait time is 3x worse online, when I asked the server for a manger she said no one was in, when I asked for the owner i was told he is never in, the server told me I could leave my name and number they would make sure to have him reach out to me, never got a response, this place is terrible & I would highly recommend to stay away from it read more

We have been going to grandpas for yrs and the past couple times the service has been slacking. We go in and are seated. And we got our drinks i think it was from the manager. Then a couple comes in after us and they get waited on while we are still waiting. They were seated at a booth and we were seated at a table. Almost half hour comes around and we had to get the manager again and he took our order. Then the people who came after us got their food while we still waited. An 45 min to an hour comes around and we are still sitting with out food and people at another table were waiting longer and we were all about to walk out. Then a waitress finally comes out and tells us she was gonna check our food. We get it and its cold. And mine was messed up. So i had it sent back. Then i get it back and the food is messed up. When my breakfast came one egg was missing and the waitress said we had a little accident we will bring the second egg out shortly or would you like to wait for the entire meal to come out at once. Of course I asked for the meal to be brought back out. In my opinion they should've held the meal back in the kitchen until they had the second egg and never told me they had an accident. I asked for some water with ice. When it came I took a sip then went to take another sip and discovered an ice cube with a a bug in it. How gross! What I found most appealing were all of the classic dishes that they're still making today. Dishes such as, the Patty Melt, reubens, french dip, meatloaf, yankee pot roast, chopped steak, chicken pot pie, open faced roast beef platter, and the open faced turkey platter. If my grandfather was still with us he would have ordered the chopped steak. He loved chopped steak. I had the Patty Melt. A favorite of mine and my father. 8oz char-broiled black angus patty with grilled onions and swiss cheese on grilled rye served with fries, slaw and a pickle. Grandpa's serves breakfast all day so my wife had an omelet filled with sausage, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and cheese served with hash browns and rye toast. We live close to this place and had not tried it so when we found ourselves "starving" on a Sunday morning, we popped in. We were greeted quickly and seated at a comfortable table and served coffee right away. They have appropriate safeguards in place for the Covid19 concerns so we felt safe in their restaurant. They have a vast menu for B, L and D so there is surely something for everyone. The breakfast menu is incredible with lots of interesting dishes (omelettes, Benedict's, pancake and waffle choices)...and standard breakfast sandwiches and plates of eggs and toast. My husband ordered his standard sunny side up 3 eggs and wheat toast with potatoes and I had a western egg sandwich. Both were REALLY GOOD. Not just an ok breakfast, but GOOD! His eggs were cooked perfectly...the sign of a good chef...and my sandwich was moist and flavorful. We will return for lunch or dinner sometime soon. This place is good depending on the day and time you go. We went in the morning for breakfast and the food was great and the service was great! We then tried dinner and the service was not good at all. We had to keep asking for the little things that should already be given on a plate and had to keep reminding the server. My husband had to get out of his seat to ask for condiments because we weren't asked if there was anything else we needed with the food. The cooks have no idea how to poach an egg correctly, the sausages are either too cooked or not cooked enough. The service was very poor this past time, the tables were not bussed and the ones that were bussed but weren't cleaned.
