They have some of our favorites that have been removed from other Sitting Ducks, such as the Bang Bang Shrimp, which gives them extra points. We used to love comming here however I feel like they are steadily going downhill. I'd it were not for previous experiences I would give a two. This experience was a Tuesday night around 630 and they had alot of empty tables. First I will start with the service, the waiter had no personality, very unattentive. He did not come over untill about 15min, no waters didn't even ask. We ordered drinks, app and meal at the same time. (They didnt have the first two drinks i asked for that were on their menu) He brought out the apps and two drinks at the same time. I also asked for waters, they did not come untill well past recieveing out entries, at that point our original drinks were empty. Second the food, it USED to be amazing! I'm not sure if they got a new cook or what but the steak tips were rubbery and my salmon tasted like lemon. Also I ordered extra side of sour cream for the perogeries and got horseradish. This place has steadily gone downhill. It used to be my husband and I's favorite restaurant. I got food poisoning from their chicken Caesar salad months ago, but decided to give it another try because it was our favorite place to go. We went last night, the buffalo chicken wings were raw, I ate one that seemed fine and then the next one I ate was definitely raw, broke open another one- raw as well (yes they took it off of our bill). It sucks to find a new favorite restaurant. Woke up this morning and my mom has food poisoning- she had a chicken Milanese sandwich from Sitting Duck Tavern in Oxford last night for dinner (the only other food we had yesterday was pizza, and I highly doubt it was the cheese pizza). I think to top it off, is their sign they put up at the bar "Welcome to The Shitshow, hope you brought wine" quite comical and ironic. Oh and the truffle fries which I was super excited for were completely soggy. The Strawberry Moscow Mule was delicious, so maybe just come here to sit at the bar for a drink. read more

SDT is so warm, cozy, and welcoming! My husband and I were greeted right away and promptly seated. The food and drink menu's have so much to offer! We tried an app of the tavern nachos which were perfectly proportioned for two people. The nachos were extremely tasty. For our entrees, I ordered the burrito bowl with blackened chicken and my husband got the boneless tavern wings with buffalo sauce on the side. Both were out of this world good! My bowl was full of fresh ingredients, nice and hot, definitely comfort food. My husband said his wings were so crispy, and tender. Place has a fantastic drink menu. I want to try so many of their drinks. I got the Smokey mezcal. Thought it was cool how they put a jalapeño cilantro liquor in there. I can't believe it's been 3 years since we were here! But it's still as good as our last visit! We got cozy seats by the fire which was lovely on a cold wintry day! We were seated immediately and our server was fast, accurate and friendly! The food was top notch as always and their tomato bisque and Tuscan bread grilled cheese was perfect for this time of year! One daughter had the macaroni and cheese "small plate" which was plenty for any meal and my other daughter had the fish and chips which I tried and loved - as a Brit it's hard to get good authentic fish and chips but these definitely were worth trying - two huge fillets with hand cut fries and tartar and ketchup on the side - the only thing missing was malt vinegar! read more

Tonight was one of the better experiences I've had at Sitting Duck in a while, but as much as I try, I just can't get myself to love it. The food is typically average - the toast in the French onion soup was a little burnt-tasting, and I thought my grilled cheese could've been a lot cheesier. Some items are better than others, but it always has us wanting more from the experience. The water had a weird taste and even the sprite was flat. The server gets to stand in front of you with a little device in his hand while you try to read it, then figure out what the tip should be, and if there are any errors on the little device. My husband & I visited this restaurant for the first time today. The menu offered something for every taste. We were there for lunch... the inside provided a pub-like ambiance. There was ample seating in booths, tables and at the bar. The food did not disappoint! The service was warm & friendly. Our server was Bella who was a delight. I would highly recommend their duck wings ( under small plate offerings) . They were outstanding! We hardly left a morsel on our plates.. burgers were our choice for lunch. The menu was full of great options, but I ended up going with the Fish & Chips and I was one happy girl. The pieces of cod were big and the fries had a nice crunch. First, the location - it's like a cross between a cruise ship and a college campus. The Sitting Duck is to the left of the plaza close to the road. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and look to have garage-like doors maybe they open in the summer? The actual food was delicious. It was the crispiest chicken I've ever had, but amazingly wasn't oily at all. The fries were well seasoned, and the toppings basically well distributed in the bread. Our waitress was really nice, very chill, and accommodating to let us wait while trying to get to-go orders from other people. I came for the name, I'd go back for the food and service! read more

Visited on a busy Saturday night and was completely thrilled and pleased with our evening Great selection of local Connecticut craft beers on tap. Our Saturday night had a live vocalist, providing some great ambience along with the TVs on various sports in a mute position. I had the Milanese Ciabatta which was a properly prepared, with a plump grilled chicken breast with pesto and arugula and peppers and was a very good portion size. Two of our party had the fish and chips which was beyond out of this world. Two very large portions of cod, properly deep-fried to a golden brown that were very meaty and flavorful. The last of our party had a fried pork cutlet with a tangy ginger brown sauce whose name I do not recall served with rice, which was truly a highlight of our dinner selections. This was ok . They were very nice- granted but the Cobb salad was a turn off with the "avocado mash"- basically overripe avocados done to a pulp - would have asked for no avocado otherwise. Good Evening, a party of seven dined in at the Oxford location on Sunday October 5 for a late lunch / early dinner. Our waitress eventually came over to introduce herself and took our drink orders. Five of us ordered fountain sodas. The service was slow to start, we hoped it would pick up but unfortunately it turned into anything but that. Our waitress returned with our drink orders ten minutes after placing them. The sodas were all flat when we brought this to her attention her response was "yea we get that a lot here." It's a disservice to your customers to respond in a manner that lacked understanding or a manner to try and resolve the issue. We asked for waters to replace the flat sodas. This took 25 minutes to bring waters. Our waitress brought 5 small cups filled with ice and one mini carafe of water. We waited for her to take our dinner order at which one point a member from our party walked up to the bar with the empty carafe to fill the water not once but twice. The orders were taken so hastily that she began to walk away before getting everyone's order. App plates and extra cups continued to pile up on our table with no sense of urgency to clear them. At one point we brought the extra plates to the bar to make room on our table. Moving on to our entrees, a member in our party ordered the steak tips requested it to be medium well. They were served rare. Our waitress was once again no where to be found and didn't check in on the food so we had to approach the bar to send the entree back to the kitchen. Overall our experience at sitting duck tavern was a 1 for service and food. I hope this review is used to train employees to be more personable and understanding in the field of customer service. I have ordered tomato soup, chicken tortilla soup, the brussels sprouts appetizer, the turkey burger, sweet potato fries, the truffle fries, and likely other things that I'm not recalling at the moment. All of them... and I mean all of them...were outstanding! Really, really good! It's a small and cozy place with easy parking. All of the staff I have dealt with have been welcoming and friendly.
