Just passing through town and stumbled upon this little slice of heaven on the side of the highway. All the things you'd expect from a Wisconsin diner, cold beer and super friendly service. Appetizers were good, but the star of the show was the Cheeseburger pizza. Typically not a big fan, I gave it a try. No fuss, nothing complicated, just a good pizza base with American and mozzarella, beef, pickle, and onion. By far the best I've ever had. Grandpa's pizza has lots of space for larger parties and awesome pizza. The thin crust is the perfect, crispy thickness and the amount of sauce and cheese are well balanced. The atmosphere is casual and the service is laid back, they won't check in a ton but will leave you a pitcher of water if you'd like. Garlic Chicken Pizza and Hawaiian Pizza are our favorites. read more

My first time here and it tasted fantastic. The "Pizza Makers Special" is awesome. It doesn't come with pepperoni, but I added it so it was just my style. Totally customizable pizzas. They only have bottled beers, so don't ask for a pitcher of Shiner because you'll be disappointed. There isn't any music playing or TVs so it's a tad outdated on that stuff, but it has a nice environment non the less. Definitely will be returning read more

Nice little hometown pizza place. Have to say we walked in (out of towners). just before a party of 40, a party of 6 and another party that appeared to be around 10 ppl who sat outdoors as well as many pick up orders in a small establishment that was already 3/4 full. There were 5 ppl working in the kitchen (4 were "kids") and a delivery person who came in to help. I have to say, the manager was the ONLY person waiting on ALL of the customers and did a FANTASTIC JOB. You could tell by her efficiencies she was "seasoned" and the adult woman "running the kitchen" also did an exceptional job keeping orders "straight", timely, orderly, clean... they did an EXCEPTIONAL job. Despite it was a "holiday weekend" and they were "hit hard". 5/25/24 The group of 6 sitting beside us were impatient as you could clearly see they were completely clueless as to all that was going on. The manager handled everything effieciently, very timely, and was full of grace. Job done exceptionally well! (I'm still amazed at how she didn't write a single thing down for any order that I could tell... and was able to keep everything straight... The best pizza joint in Ladysmith, WI! Also one of the only, but that's not the point! I've been going here ever since I was a kid, and the quality has never gone down. The dining area itself could use a little face-lift, but it's a cute little place. It's a little dark inside too, so it's nice for a first date if you don't want someone to watch you eat in bright lighting. The pizzas are great! My absolute favorite is the deep-dish taco pizza, served with a mild salsa and sour cream. The pizzas come out absolutely perfect, and the cheese..oh god the cheese!! Their bread sticks are also fantastic, crunchy but soft and well seasoned. The marinara is also to die for. Also regarding the place itself: they have a half wall when you first walk in so you can actually watch people work on pizzas. There's a few arcade games, and I can't remember how many hours I spent playing pinball there. The bathrooms are also very well kept. Would recommend!! read more

Anytime I am doing anything related to the Flambeau River, I make sure I stop in at Grandpa's. I have eaten a lot of pizza in my life, but I have to go to Chicago or New York to get anything that rivals the pizza at this place. I took my paddling group here for lunch today before paddling the lower Flambeau, and they all agreed that it was a good choice. The thin crust is always just right, not too crunchy or flaky. Just the right amount of carbon! The toppings and cheese are generous, and their sausage is just the right savory, fennel flavored delight. What sets the pizza apart, however, is the sauce. I am not sure what other reviewers were talking about, but their sauce is my favorite. Slightly sweet but with enough herbs and spices to punch up the flavor. The service is usually very good, but can be a little slow when they are busy, such as an early Sunday afternoon or Saturday night. If you are in a hurry, this might not be the best option. My group today was in and out in an hour, however. I thought that was pretty good since we chatted a bit and there were 8 of us. read more

I ordered a pizza from Grandpa's and I loved it. It was a cheese pizza with mushrooms and onions and it was still great pizza! I can imagine it's even better with meat! Plenty of cheese is put on these pizzas and the crust is great. Also, I had it delivered to a hotel room. I think it took all off 20 minutes from me calling in my order to it being ready at my door. This place brings back memories when going to get pizza was a event or special dinner for families and friends . They have some arcade style games and clean restrooms . Now the service is very good they will tweak or add anything your heart desires if they have it in house . They can handle being busy or full and not make you wondering why or when, when everything came out to our table with a smile . The crust we ordered was thin and crisp with perfect amounts of sauce and cheese and meat . This place ranks very high maybe the best we have had ever . We have been there before, loved it. This time we ordered a pizza to pick up (which I did not want to do, driving all the way from Jump River to pick up a pizza? but that is what hubby wanted to do). We got back and the sausage tasted, well, weird. Almost like it was borderline bad or rancid. And $4 for each salad? A rip off. Some head lettuce with some tomato and a few green olives on it. That is way too much, plus the salad was watery. We happened to go to the nearby kwik store for pop beforehand, and they had all these pizzas stacked up in a see through frig. I saw people in front of me and behind me buying these pizzas by the gross. I asked if they were good, and they said, "Oooooh, yeah!" And they were only $6.50 a piece! And they also said that they sell a thousand a week and that they were homemade! So if we have to make a trip to Ladysmith to get a pizza that is the way we are going to go. We could have gotten 4 pizzas for the price of one at Grandpa's. Seriously that sausage was either mystery meat or spoiled. And I am still choking it down. read more
