Grandview Grind is the quintessential coffee house. Tucked away along the back of a Grandview Avenue strip mall, the vibe is super-laid back and relaxing. That is, relaxing until you see all the coffee, tea, and beverage combinations available. Eek! RELAX. Ask them some questions, they'll lead you in the right direction. Their iced coffee is cold-brewed, their chai steeped, and their coffee fresh. Specialty drinks are no problem, and if you want something that is not on the menu, they'll make it for you. Want a snack? Patisserie Laillier cookies and bars are available, as well as locally-made granola. The layout is open, with lots of tables indoors and out, high ceilings and big windows, so there is plenty of natural light during the day. A boxed-in corner with comfy chairs and couches feels like sitting in your living room. A rack of square shelving offers plenty of reading material and local papers, and you can peruse the GG logoed items for sale along the wall. This is a nice little spot for a coffee tucked away in Grandview. Though they would seem to be in competition with Stauf's and Panera down the street, the vibe here is more like an art gallery with some coffee rather than a hardcore roaster or bake shop. I like stopping in for a few minute and chatting with the barista, but I was a little disappointed that the bacon latte was just flavored with syrup rather than adding some actual bacon. As much as I hate trying to find parking in Grandview (ended up parking down the street and walking a bit), this coffee shop was kind of awesome. I didn't give it the espresso test, so this isn't an official Susie Coffee Shop Test Site; it's a lovely place to go if you want to camp out and do some work while sippin' on some iced tea or coffee, though. I received very friendly service, and it was definitely less crowded than Stauf's (although they probably would prefer to be as crowded as Stauf's, heh). I have two types of coffee shops I look to visit: one where I can get a cappuccino that makes me weak in the knees, and one where I can stretch out and drink two or three iced teas while I catch up on my writing. I have so far used this one for the latter, but who knows? They might have good cappuccinos, too. read more

Grandview Grind is my go-to coffee place when I am working from home. Every time I go, there is always an open table and outlets! There are enough outlets that pretty much any table you sit at, you can plug in. The music is soft enough that you can still have a conversation and not too loud that you can't listen to your own music, if you so choose. I generally just get black coffee but the last time I went I got the Cinna Honey Latte. It is my new favorite latte! It is not too sweet and has the perfect proportions of cinnamon and honey. I also love the cheddar jalapeno bagel with cream cheese. It has just the right amount of kick to it with the spice. There are also a variety of other bagel options, muffins and pastries. There are some tables outside that are perfect for sitting at during the warmer months! The pricing of their drinks is pretty comparable to other competitors. Parking in the evening is difficult in the lot as that is peak time for some of the other local businesses. In the morning however, parking is super easy to find! read more

I'm really surprised this place isn't more popular. I sincerely think its the best coffee in Columbus. I often walk here before work for a cappuccino, which I think these guys have perfected. Temperature, flavor, consistency... just about perfect in my book. My wife wanted something super sweet and sugary the other day so I ordered her a caramel capp and I think I got her hooked too. I'm anxious to try all the tea options on the other blackboard, they also offer loose leaf tea at a really great price. If anything, I just wished they offered more baked goods and snacks. It's not a big enough problem to warrant a lower star rating. The food they offer is delicious and well priced. It's also nice knowing you are supporting small and local. The interior is nice and feels spacious, it does have what another reviewer called a "neighborhood feel" inside. The baristas are super friendly, other coffee places it can feel like somebody is just going through the motions but at the grind they are quick to offer a recommendation for a drink and I've never left without being thanked for coming in. It's the little things. Grandview is chocked full of coffee shops; most of which have a line to the door, mediocre offerings and unfriendly staff. Sure if I want some french toast or a bagel there are other better options right down the road, but when I want coffee I'm going straight to Grandview Grind. read more

I am slightly obsessed with tea. I will drink tea hot, cold, blended, in baked goods - if there is tea, I am willing to try it. That being said, I am now obsessed with Grandview Grind due to their fantastic selection of tea. Seriously, if you haven't tried the Tangerine Ginger Iced Tea, just forget whatever plans you might have and go now. Scarlet is a close second if Tangerine Ginger isn't your thing. I love that they take the time to make the tea right when you order, because it honestly makes all the difference in the world. Some other large chain coffee shops have tea pre-made that they just make a few times a day and leave it sitting out until someone orders it. Not Grandview Grind. I think the only negative would be the lack of seating. I usually don't stay and drink my tea, because there are usually very few seats open. The parking can also suck if you want to come during lunch/dinner since there are a lot of restaurants so close. Luckily, these few negatives will not keep me from my new tea obsession. read more

I am so happy to have Grandview Grind in my neighborhood now! Positioned back in a small shopping center on Grandview Ave, it is actually a really great space. There are great square tables and a few seats outside. It's clean and the staff are friendly. I asked for a recommendation on a beverage and the barista told me to order the soy vanilla iced latte. I've been ordering it ever since! They use that pellet ice (which is awesome) and they roast locally! I'll definitely be returning frequently. I am loyal to Luck Brothers, but out of curiosity, my wife and I decided to try Grandview Grind today for one of our semi-regular coffee dates. I'm not sure Grandview Grind breaks new ground, but the coffee is very good and our scone was a nice treat. The staff (at the time we came in, a single barista) was very knowledgable about his product. The space is relaxing, clean and is a nice place to spend time. I appreciate the local vibe with art from Columbus artists on the walls. I had The Grind Mocha and my wife had a caramel capuchino. Good stuff and we'll be coming back to try a few other options soon. Quick note, though the private lot parking is very convenient, the lot fills up pretty quickly with several restaurants and Caribou sharing the lot. It appears there's a new Mexican restaurant opening next door, too. Don't worry about it. Park on the street if you have to and get some good coffee. read more

I love this coffee shop! I live and work in Grandview so it's always a quick walk for me to the Grind. The staff are always quick and efficient and they coffee drinks are excellent! There is usually a place to sit down and relax. The noise level is definitely lower than Staufs so you can study or read. The fresh assorted baked items are always excellent as well as ever changing. Yesterday I had a pumpkin chocolate chip muffin which was very moist and delicious! And love the pumpkin in January! read more

I worked remotely for a day and this place was exactly what I was looking for. Local business in the middle of Grandview. Service was friendly and fast. There was a group of regulars that even went so far as to wipe the water off of my table. The background music was set to the perfect level without being overpowering and I never felt crowded as people came and left during my 4 hour stay. I've been here twice now. Grandview Grind is a great study spot. Excellent coffee and really nice folks work here. I like that their coffee is HOT. There are a good number of tables (and some comfy looking armchairs as well) and its nice and airy with high ceilings and a decent amount of natural light. I heard they have an interesting maple bacon latte with real maple syrup and bacon flavored syrup. Haven't had it yet but one day... Also I like the music they play (not too loudly I might add). I was impressed with this little coffee establishment. I decided to try it out last Sunday for a cup of just black coffee. They had a dark roast which makes me happy. They have a variety of your coffee drinks which I rarely get. They also have a few food options that looked pretty good. They have muffins, cookies and bagels from a pop-up bakery or at least that is what a little paper said on the scones i was thinking of trying. They have modern feel to the place with a couch and two nice chairs along with tables. I like the bar set-up to so one can sit and annoy the baristas. This is nice for those of us who would rather sit with a hot cup of strong coffee than a cold draught. The place was packed on Saturday with only a few seats. They had plenty of outlets for the laptop guy and some chairs outside to sit and read the paper. I really liked the dark roast I had there even though i didn't do my due diligence and ask for the roaster. I actually liked it this way because I will go back for coffee here because it was one of the best cups I have had in awhile. I will check this place out a few more times to see where it lies in my favorite coffee spots. read more

I'm glad to say this one will be a keeper. It'll go into rotation as one of my work-away-from-home spots for when I need a change of scenery. It's clean and well-lit, with friendly service and good tea. Free wifi and free parking. What more could I ask for? Well, more vegan food options wouldn't hurt. Since they're so local business-oriented, I was surprised not to see any Pattycake Bakery items. As far as I could tell, if I had gotten the munchies, I'd have been nibbling on a plain bagel. I like the size. It's not so small as to make you feel conspicuous and not so large that it would get crowded and noisy. In fact, there's a lot of empty space in there. They could probably squeeze a lot more little tables in there if they wanted to. But with the amount of seating available, it seems designed to maintain a comfortable working distance between customers. The wifi was very smooth. The password is up by the register. We ordered a cold brew with peppermint and a cold brew with vanilla and caramel. We got a cold brew with vanilla. After waiting 15 minutes, we got a pour over with vanilla. This is a quaint coffee shop right between Grandview Heights and Columbus. Prices seemed quite reasonable and there appeared to be ample comfortable seating inside. I did not try any food but the earl grey tea I had was fantastic. The staff was friendly and they had everything you would need to customize your coffee/tea exactly the way you like it. I fluctuate between here and Staufs, but I don't know why... Grandview Grind is better in most ways except that they don't have as big a selection of beans or the same indie feel. It's a far more vanilla setup than Staufs, feeling very much like the independent strip-mall coffee shop that it is. But it does that well. The baristas seem great, there's always open seating with outlets, and the coffee is consistently good. Essentially, I'd say your better off at GG than Staufs unless you're trying buy beans or if your real goal is to be seen at a trendy coffee shop. If your goal is one of those two, you're better off at Staufs. Also, get the apple coffee cake if they have it on display. So good. read more
