Was hoping to walk into Grandys and eat good after someone recommended this location to me, food wasn't as good as I was hoping. Not to mention the owner Dave, treats his employees like shit.. it was hard to eat when all you can hear was yelling in the background. If I had worked there I would have walked out on him. We entered Grandy's at 6:30 and placed our order of a fish dinner and a liver dinner. The cashier said there would be a little wait for the fish. We could have a drink and wait at a table and they would bring are food to us when it was ready. After about 25 minutes we asked a lady bringing other people their order where our order was. She took our receipt and said she would take care of it. She never came back. So I went to the counter to find out where my order was. By then it had been in the restaurant 40 minutes when I finally got my order. One of the meals was missing it's roll. No apologies were given by any of the staff about the wait. I thought I would give Grandy's a try again. Got to work, made a call to the restaurant. I asked how is it possible to cook bacon strips crispy on one end, and raw on the other? And the hash brown, I always throw away. I didn't need to change my oil today! I called 35minute before their closing time expecting them to not even answer their phone. A very professional young man answered the phone and I asked him if they had any more fried chicken left? He said he would go and check to see what parts of chicken they had left. When he came back to the phone, he told me what they had left and I placed two dinner orders one for myself and one for my husband. When Mark left the house to pick it up, he said that he was greeted by a very nice lady and they already had our dinners packed up and ready to go. When Mark got home with our dinners, it was as if they had just fried that chicken and given us fresh mashed potatoes and gravy and corn and green beans. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Like grandma did it, only faster. Classic comfort food done fast but right, with great prices, crazy cheap daily specials, and the folks here are friendly as all get out. My new bff LaDonna will be sure to take good care of you. The fried okra here is some of the best I've had, very crispy outside, never soggy inside. Chicken fried steak is big and done right. Go on Tuesday and Wednesday and it comes with two sides for only $3.99! Some other sides I've tried -- mac and cheese is creamy, simple but good, the kiddies love it. French fries are very good, skin-on and big with the right amount of crunch. Though the ketchup packets are a bit annoying. Dine in and get as many complimentary rolls as you'd like. Ask for honey and butter packs are by the soda machines. As others have mentioned, the place could use a spit shine and polish in a few spots, but it's very clean where it counts, especially in their spacious dining room. I'll forgive the Christian pop rock on the radio, though they might consider adding a few well-placed flat screens (something I never though I'd say lol). They make the extra effort to make sure you have a pleasant meal here. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit. I just have to decide between the catfish or fried chicken. Keep in mind, this is not a salad eater's place. This is country comfort cookin', where if it's not deep fried, it's smothered in gravy..but often it's both. When considering where to dine out, hit up that modern, hip downtown eatery next time. I know, it is a chain you say, I can hear you laughing. Still it saddens me that these days we are losing many of these places keeping traditional cooking around. I for one like having options. My chicken nuggets were undercooked, the portions were small the side containers weren't full. It took them about 40 minutes to serve three customers.. so I sat in line over 35 minutes.. Not sure what the Grandy's policy is for employees during the pandemic; but, at this location none of them were properly wearing their mask while at least two (one of whom was being referred to as the manager) were not wearing a mask at all. I used to live by this place, so bf bugged me for a while to go by for breakfast one morning. I finally gave in, but never again. Half the tables dirty, the breakfast buffet did not seem appetizing at all, I couldn't understand the guy at the register because he kept mumbling, and we had to go up to the front a couple of times to ask for the rest of our meal. I come to this Grandy's a lot and it has never been slow till today (nov. 1). The drive thru was only long because no one would answer the speaker box but they would answer the phone. Instead of answering the phone maybe you should help. Then I heard the lady (lady that was on the phone not the speaker) complaining about me through the window. I have been a huge fan of Grandy's since moving to Oklahoma 5 years ago, but this one seems to have a problem. They need to wear hair nets or figure something quick. There has been 2 occasions (breakfast buffet and dinner time) where I have had hair in my food. The time at dinner I wasn't the only person. The cashier said I was the 3rd person that hour to complain and find hair. Well here's a freaking idea....MAKE YOUR EMPLOYEES WEAR A HAIRNET! That's disgusting.
