As a customer I found it frustrating that most of the items didn't show prices. I asked the clerk why they didn't have prices on most of their items and he stated that it's because the prices change very often. I was curious about getting bird seed, and several years tools. It would had taken a lot of time for someone to escort me around the store to give me prices. So in my experience I didn't find this process supportive. One thing I appreciate is they did sell native plants! That's great! read more

I purchased the wrong item and returned to the store to return it. It was a drip line and I removed the tape before I realized it wasn't exactly what I needed. The cashier said he'd have to find out if I could return it. The female "boss" asked if someone would purchase it in the condition I returned it... it was unrolled. I asked her if she wanted me to take it home and tape it back up, she said yes. I've returned many items to stores where it was their responsibility to repackage the item, not the consumer. Hi everyone, Unfortunately, I have to give this particular store 1 star! The Good: Great Selection of products The Bad: The manager in this store is extremely unapproachable! I bought a dozen vegetable plants and waited in line for about 15 minutes. He finally waited on me. He abruptly started ringing me up and I told him I needed help in a couple of areas in the store with additional items. He got ANGRY at me for this!! He said, "We have a lot of customers to take care of right now and I don't have the time to answer your questions or help you". "You are holding up the line" At this point, I asked him if he would prefer me to leave? He told me the fertilizer was $7.00. He rang me up and it was almost $17.00! I did not want it and he got angry at me again! This is NOT the first time I've had problems with this person. I called the main office and complained to the owner. Hope this review helps. read more

What a bittersweet experience to buy two avocado plants at Grangettos Fallbrook. I had purchase my first one,for my wife's Birthday. I wanted to bring it home after work, to surprise her. Grangetto's went the extra mile, to sell me at closing, the $75 tree,as long as I paid cash. My wife was so excited to have our first Avocado tree, she bought me another one,to start our venture,in having Fallbrook's landmark symbol,in our back yard. However, we notice, the second one we bought,started to brown,and loose its leaves. While the first one,side by side in pots flourished. I stopped by Grangetto's,and brought a picture of the two. I was told, there was nothing they could do,and they blamed it on the heat. Again, this happen before the heat wave,I said. But again no effort to exchange, partial credit,even seek vender credit from the supplier. Lesson learned,Don't by your plants at Grangetto's Farm & Garden Supply,in Fallbrook.You bought it,you own it,even thou the plant was diseased. I also learned,they are not a local business as I thought,but a chain.So, that Fallbrook Friendly Village,appeal was soured . They could of maintained that "extra mile" in customer service initially,but it only goes one way to their benefit,not the customer. read more

Grangetto's in Escondido is better staffed. They are so much more knowledgeable. I went to Grangetto's in Fallbrook 2weeks ago. They couldn't help me nor did they have any suggestions. I called letting them know we were on our way and would get to their store BEFORE it closed and the rude lady that answered the phone said we lock our gates 5 minutes before closing and then complained that she would need to use the dolly to bring the soil I was buying!! The only reason I'm not giving just one star is that their selection seems fine. I'm a newbie gardener, so I can use all the advice I can get. Well, free advice was clearly not on offer for me that day. And the store was empty, so I wasn't going to hog time away from other customers. Who knew such a small place could have so much! Matt Noreen is my guy here, he is super helpful and will help you find what you need. They are very helpful with advice and never pushy or too busy to answer questions, it really pays to shop local and get the service you need. They also seem to carry more Heirloom Plants during Vegetable planting season than anyone else..including the big box stores! read more

I almost let the reviews steer me away but a local nursery sent me here and I'm glad I stopped in. I got all the attention that I needed, had a very detailed explanation of the sprinkler parts I needed to start my conversion from grass pop up sprinklers to a garden drip system. I even got help understanding what was dripping all over our yard and cars and even an appointment for a consultation to help remedy this. All the guys at the desk were friendly and helpful. What a breath of fresh air, My friends told me about this place so I visited Grangetto's Fallbrook store this week and I was impressed. I am going to be planting an organic vegetable garden and I wanted to see what they had to offer. They have a great selection of organic fertilizers, these guys really know their %&%$ (fertilizer) the store was clean and the staff was friendly. Diane helped me with some organic questions I had about fertilizers, she was very knowledgable. They just got in a shipment of tomato starts and the plants looked to be of good quality. When I was looking at the plants I met the Store manager Dave , he was watering the plants and answered some of my questions..this is a real nice place..you get a home town personal feel here unlike some of the other places I have visited around town. All in all great people, great service , and the prices are competitive, actually the tomato plant I bought was only $1.88..Home Depot was about 3 bucks..I will be back..!!great place!! read more

great selection of product that's why it gets one star but the customer service is horrible. The manager is a total ass. I guess being a manager got to his head. He thinks he's too good to help out a customer. I needed some advice on a particular item for my yard and he seemed annoyed that I was asking so many questions, that's the reason he's there to help customers out if he doesn't want to maybe he should find another job. I don't know why they still have him there. I've heard from a lot of people about the managers attitude but I guess corporate doesn't really care about their customers. I went into Grangetto's last week with a huge pipe problem. I was trying to fix a valve off of my water main that the previous owner screwed up. Not only did the manager help me find the right parts, he also spent an hour with me laying it out to make sure I had everything I needed. It is rare to find that kind of service today.
