Yet another outstanding meal, AGAIN for our anniversary. Charred sweet peppers, pork chop from the menu focusing on local products,charred peach salad and sweet corn agnelotti stand out in our minds. Friendly and sweet service, a nice wine and the staff remember our anniversary by comping in a round of champagne for all of us. The server made a mistake and brought airline chicken for my wife, and she said she was happy to eat that instead, but amazingly enough when it was time to leave three hours later, we received a surprise doggy bag of chickpea cake. My boyfriend and I were visiting the Keene area for vacation and stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for dinner places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience of the restaurant is elegant but also cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started off with drinks - I got the seasonal appletini and my boyfriend got a gin. I got the seasonal beet salad which was very good. For entrees I got the braised beef short rib which was amazing! (Absolutely no notes on that dish). My boyfriend got the papardelle with house made pasta. Normally he salts all his food and he didn't even salt his pasta dish and he said it was delicious. I love Yelp! As you might guess, I use it whenever I need to find a new place to eat, which is frequently the case if I am dining out of town. So, we used Yelp recently when we decided to spend a holiday weekend in Keene to hit the area's gravel/dirt bike trails.  Granita Enoteca ranked highly in our search results, so we made reservations for Sunday night. Not surprisingly, the Yelp reviews were spot on -- this place is fantastic.  [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is located in an office building just off the center of town, which seems odd at first, but as soon as you walk in the door, there's no doubt you are in a fine dining restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only thing I noticed about the strange choice of location was that the A/C vents are in a single straight row in the ceiling, so you're either going to be cool or not, depending on where you sit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]  We started with the Meatball Appetizer. What I loved about them was that they were 'crisp' (nicely browned) on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside. The marinara was very, very good. And there was a generous amount of parmesan -- but not too much. My date had the Pesto Pasta with Peas. I had the Lamb Chops with Polenta and fava Beans. And we share a side of pureed potatoes. We LOVED every element of each dish. The flavors were exquisite!  We sat at the bar, as we often do (we prefer to sit next to one another vs across a table from each other), and the bartender was attentive and friendly. Plus, he made an excellent Rye Manhattan exactly as I asked (very dry & very cold).  We can't wait to go back to Keene so that we can go to Granita Enoteca! read more

We've been to Granite Enoteca twice now: once with a reservation and once without. The staff where very friendly and accommodating. Now compared to other restaurants in the area, this is absolutely pricey, but the food & cocktails are outstanding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is definitely more intimate, and more high-end for this region, but I've seen customers in clean tshirts, Birkenstocks, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was disappointed to learn in between our visits that they no longer offer entree sized pasta portions, but I just viewed that as an opportunity to save room for dessert. read more

We went on a Sunday night when they have the family style option, this was suggested by our server as this allowed us to try a larger selection of items. We started with fresh focaccia and butter, had an app of Olives and some NA sparkling wine which was lovely. They have a wide selection of Reds, white and NA options, as well as many nice cocktails. We had the Chicken Ragu and a Scallop Dish for our first and second plates, we shared and both were more then amazing. The chef and kitchen crew do an amazing job here, everything was flavorful and scallops were perfectly cooked! Do yourself a favor and get a side of the Risotto if it's not on a main dish, amazing! Raised in Norway with sustainable ocean farming, cooked perfectly, and treated with the respect great ingredients deserve. You can immediately tell the chef truly knows her ingredients and the farmers behind them. The lamb osso buco was delicate, rich, and deeply flavorful -- beautifully prepared and incredibly satisfying. My mother ordered the duck and couldn't stop talking about it, especially the parsnip purée, which she said was the best she's ever had. From start to finish, everything was thoughtful, balanced, and delicious. Wonderful food, knowledgeable cooking, and a dining experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. The "first plates" are smaller or you can make them entree size. In-house homemade pastas and desserts. We had the bolognese (entree size) and beef short ribs w an added side of whipped potatoes. My husband loved his pasta. The beef rib was perfectly cooked and accompanied by a parsnip puree and kale. They have a top of the line coffee/expresso machine. We had the pumpkin cheesecake. Just wow! When you think cheesecake you may think heavy and dense. This was anything but that. The cake was so light and creamy. Fresh flavors of a light pumpkin and gingerbread crust topped with toasted maple pumpkin seeds. I think you could order anything on the menu and walk away very satisfied. Prepare for an evening to remember. I have rarely seen serving staff as well trained and professional as Granita Enoteca, which is a clear sign of a very well run restaurant. This is the best idea for both food and entertainment I have seen in a long time. For $50 each, a couple gets a glass of wine and 5 courses to choose from, but they have to agree on the 5 courses and share them family style. It is a perfect test of a couple's compatibility :). Though the restaurant is hidden from Main Street, it's actually only a brief walk to the theatre, so keep this establishment in mind. Ambiance is relaxed and friendly. Food is delicious. You should definitely order the fresh focaccia bread and olive appetizer. It's reasonably priced and, since none of our entrees came with bread, it hit the spot. Exceptional experience here! Everything from granita they served pre-meal to the pastas were spot on. We had the meatballs and flatbread appetizer. Could have just stopped there. Meatballs were very soft and juicy on the inside and perfect on the outside. There was a very nice herbed taste that made my wife keep commenting on them, in addition to the basil. The flatbread was just a scrumptious mix of fig, goat cheese and slightly charred pizza crust. On the menu, it said there was prosciutto, but we didn't taste or see any, but honestly imo prosciutto would have ruined it so we didn't really care! The pastas were also great. The tagliatelle, though boring looking (sauce was simply butter, salt and pepper), was mildly addictive. The pasta noodle itself was really chewy! Hidden culinary gem in New Hampshire! We went for a date night dinner and it lived up to our expectations. The prawns and polenta are amazing, make sure you order them. The bolognese was perfect with a copious amount of fresh mushrooms. We also had the carbonara, we've had it where it is too creamy, the way Chef Anthony made it was spot on. The pasta was fresh and the dish was perfect with a cracked egg! We paired this with wine flights....a great way to have a sample of excellent wines. Of course dessert was panna cotta which was amazing with a mix of fresh fruits. Also had the home made limoncello. Perfect way to end the dinner. Looking forward to coming back for the tasting! The dinners were ok. Nothing to brag about. Once we were done with our dinners and we waited for her to come back to our table. I've eaten here three times in the past 2 years. Once was great, once was awful, and the most recent, somewhere in between. The issue is, quite pricy food that can be remarkably average or really good, depending on whim. Wait staff have been mostly fine and helpful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance is nice (if you don't get seated near the doors to the kitchen).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But beneath the surface there appears to be a revolving door of chefs, or no chef. Not acceptable for a purported fine dining establishment. We reserved our first experience at Granita for a special occasion dinner and it hit the mark. The food was outstanding, ambience is nice albeit can be a little loud, and service was overall good. Our server was a bit quirky and casually dressed, and didn't really fit the overall vibe of the restaurant, making our date feel cheaper than it was. The food and price point suggest this should be a place where all the employees are well dressed (solid black, no jeans), servers should know wine pairings that go with each entree (or be willing to find someone who does instead of just recommending their favorite wine), and providing exceptional fine dining service and that mark was missed slightly. Our food was delicious but options felt a bit limited because the menu is very seafood focused. Probably half of the menu items are seafood, including all the apps except for the brussels sprouts and charcuterie board. Fine, but worth keeping in mind if you have allergies or just don't care for seafood. Also the menu on the website varies slightly than what we found at the restaurant - proteins were the same but the accompaniments and price varied slightly. I did appreciate that there were a number of pasta dishes in the $15-$25 range or so, which gives diners options if they want a nice meal experience with a more modest price tag. Price point wasn't that much higher than any of nicer restaurants in Keene so I was impressed we could have a meal that feels very beyond what you can usually get in town but have the total bill only be marginally more. Cocktails ($10-12 on average) were super flavorful but probably had the correct amount of alcohol compared to the heavier pours at some Keene restaurants. We got the brussels sprouts, duck breast, salmon, and a dessert, as well as two cocktails and a glass of wine, and all were delicious. The plating of our meals and dessert were drop dead gorgeous as well (definitely Instagrammable)! Overall a good experience and a place I would dine at again for a future special occasion. I think holding a slightly higher service standard would have given this place enough of an edge to make you feel as if you were transported outside of Keene to an elegant hotspot in some happening city for a couple hours, but as is it still felt like being in a small college town. read more

A wonderful wine tasting/pairing under the friendly and efficient staff, who made sure we were comfortable and knowledgeable about the Sicilian dishes and wines they presented. Service and atmosphere were nice, but the food was disappointing. The first time we came here a few months ago we were served the most amazing complimentary bread before our meal. It was piping hot and fresh out of the oven. This time, the bread was clearly not freshly made and had been reheated and was barely warm. AND it cost $7.50 for 4 slices. The arancini was good, but mushy and the sauce lacked flavor. The meatballs were hard as rocks and had no flavor and the pasta was very blah. All-in-all, a very mediocre meal. Would not rush back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is tastefully decorated, has a very experienced staff, and has a great menu and cocktail program.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm not much of a wine drinker, but their selection is huge, sophisticated, albeit pricey. Two of my dining guests ordered the scallops on the "second dish" menu. The photo in the menu showed more scallops than appeared on their plates, so they were a little disappointed. More than that, they tasted quite fishy...like they were "past". When I mentioned this to our server, she said, "I will bring that up to the chef." Upon arriving back to our table, she relayed the message from the chef that their scallops arrive fresh daily and perhaps it was the fish sauce they used in preparing the dish. Personally, I doubt both...these scallops were not fresh, probably 4-5 days ago maybe...and why would any chef intentionally mask the taste of fresh, in-season, se scallops with a sauce that would give it a strong fish odor/taste??? We did not receive an offer to replace them with another dish or take it off the bill. We were handed "to-go" containers instead. Pretty disappointed. read more

I came here when visiting family in the area, we had a big family get together here and I think that we all really enjoyed our visit here. All of the staff members were very friendly and kind, they very much gave us a warm welcome and feel to the restaurant. Our waitresses name was Amy, and I thought that she was very kind! I was impressed as to how many vegetarian choices were on the menu! I am a vegan and I saw lots of vegetarian choices. I settled on the pesto pasta, which was delicious, yummy green noodles with vegetables. I asked Amy what the ingredients were because I was thinking of trying to replicate it at home. I typically don't have dairy but I loved the vegetable pasta and I also enjoyed my salad. It was a lot of fun! It was a great time shared by all of us that evening and I would love to come back when I am in the area again. I came here last night (a Tuesday night) very last minute. I called at 3pm, even though they don't open until 5pm, they answered the phone and immediately gave me a reservation for 1 at 5pm. Upon entering, I was politely greeted by the hostess. They had an electronic temperature scanner with a camera that checks your temperature automatically. The interior of the restaurant is romantic and elegant even though they claim to be a casual dining restaurant. Since I was the first person there, they let me choose where I wanted to sit. All staff were wearing masks and gloves. Their menu selections were amazing. Apps, dinner, desserts, large selection of wines & an impressive craft beer tap list (coming from a self-proclaimed beer snob). I started with an Argentinian Malbec for my drink. I ordered the 28-day aged NY Strip with 6-hour mashed potatoes and steamed kale for dinner. I ordered the steak to be cooked Medium. It's always a gamble when you order a steak to be cooked Medium. Either you get well done or raw, rarely do you get a truly medium cooked steak unless you go to a fantastic restaurant with a chef that knows what they're doing. The steak came out, I cut in to it, and it was perfectly cooked. The flavor was incredible. Moist, tender, slightly crunchy edges, seasoned, and pure perfection. There was no need to for any additional sauces with the steak. The steak also came with baby onions and mushrooms that were lightly cooked & paired perfectly with the steak. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the kale were both so delicious. After dinner, I ordered the Tiramisu for dessert. So good. Another aspect of this experience that impressed me were the number of people that checked on me and the quality of the dinner I was enjoying. The hostess, waitresses, manager, and I'm assuming someone from the kitchen all asked how it was. They really put a lot of effort in to ensuring a high quality dining experience. I made sure to tell all of them how amazing everything was and how much I appreciated this restaurant. I had such a great time, it was exactly what I needed that day. As isolating as this pandemic makes everyone feel, this place really helped me yesterday with feeling a little less isolated. I highly recommend coming to Granita Enoteca if you are in the Keene area. You will not be disappointed. I will most definitely be back. If the owners are reading this, please consider opening a restaurant in Lebanon or Hanover. We desperately need this restaurant in this area as there is an extremely limited amount of quality restaurants here. Maybe 1 or 2 "ok" restaurants in this immediate area.
