I ordered a Mr. Steph: turkey, salami, pepperjack, pepperoncini, lettuce, onion, mayo, mustard on country bread. The sandwich stood about 2-1/2" to 3" tall when it was lying down. And it tasted great! The country bread was very hearty. The crust was awesome. I had to work to bite through it. I loved it! They also have a small store that has all kinds of food items you won't find in a typical grocery store. I bought a round loaf of Greek Olive Bread that was also very crusty.

Don't let this tiny place fool you, it delivers BIG on quality and flavor. They make their own bread, and their sandwich board is thoughtfully put together to enhance the flavor profiles of all the ingredients. I tried the RBB and the Italian. The most important item of a sandwich is the bread, the 2nd most important- the thickness of the meat. Well, the Italian came on a house-made semolina roll, and the meat was perfectly sliced paper thin. It was the best sandwich I've had since being back home in NYC. The roast beef with blue cheese and horseradish mayo was ridiculous. I will definitely be back when I am back on Whidbey Island... ANYWHERE on the island. This place is worth the drive. Also the prices are very reasonable. They also have a small market with a few aisles of curated goods. I grabbed some Whidbey Island canned tuna for later. Excellent spot, well done. Absolutely zero notes.

First of all, the view from the store is amazing -- mountains and trees everywhere. If you need to use the phone, they have a pay phone outside, which is good because there is no cell service on the highway. Walking into the store, you can see a super cool lunch counter, which isn't in use, as they don't have a restaurant yet But, there is tremendous potential there. I love the seating area with the loveseat next to the firewood. It smells amazing, and is just so cozy! We went into the store part, which is so lovely -- beautiful wood throughout and so spacious. They had everything one could possibly need for camping, including firewood. They also had a decent selection of drinks and snacks. I know as they get further into running mode, they'll get more, and I cannot wait! But, more than anything else, I was impressed by the owners, as they were warm, friendly and super welcoming. I plan to stop there every time I'm on The Loop, and you should, too!

Delicious, perfect ratios of ingredients, and very fresh quality. I got a "build your own" sandwich but they have a wide variety of pre selected sandwiches if you'd rather that they choose. I was here during a Saturday lunch rush so it was packed inside, but the employees moved FAST. Service was very quick and the employees were all super friendly. There are no tables inside, so I took my sandwich to a nearby bench. There are tons of places to sit and enjoy the views in Friday Harbor. I will absolutely come back here next time I come to FH.

One thin and narrow (1/2") slice of pre-cooked bacon was severely underwhelming). A thin layer of avocado spread(?) rather than avocado. Swiss fine. Mayo fine. Red onion fine. Two slices of bread that were not toasted...so essentially a turkey sandwich. I returned to ask about the correctness of the order and the woman behind the counter got chippy immediately stating that this is the turkey club and wrapped it up and handed it back without even long at it. I asked about the three slices of toasted bread listed on the menu. She said that the board is wrong and we don't do three pieces any more. I asked about the single piece of bacon and she wanted to hand me some more bacon. A $16 sandwich that wasn't as adversities and an unwillingness to make it right means we won't be returning. I had been there a few times before and had always enjoyed it, so I was actually the one raving to my friend about how good the place was and suggesting we go there. We spent around $65 on our order, and I even left a generous tip. While waiting for our food, we asked if we could sit at one of the many empty tables since the restaurant was only about half full. We were told by who I believe was the owner that we could not sit at a table because they were "running food" and it made things too difficult, and instead were told to sit on the bench by the door. The problem was the bench was already full, so we were left standing there waiting for our order with nowhere to sit. Honestly, it was embarrassing after I had talked the place up so much to my friend. It was disappointing because there were plenty of empty tables available and we were paying customers simply waiting for our food. The interaction felt unnecessarily unwelcoming and left a bad impression.

(gotta climb in the Wayback Machine for that gem!) I loved that I saw at least six versions of my childhood dining room table, which felt so nostalgically comfortable that I wanted to crawl under one with my coloring books and my chocolate milk. But I digress -- you're supposed to be reading my review. I decided that I was in the mood for grilled cheese and tomato soup, so that's what I ordered. The tomato soup is really amazing -- so fresh tasting and delicious. But the sandwich was next level nom-ness. I opted to get it on sourdough because it's the best for dunking into the soup.
