Finally decided to re-do the house in scottsdale. After thinking about it for over five years, it was time. NEVER had done anything other than a re-paint of a house, so this was a pretty intimidating prospect. There are plenty of horror stories so the concern was valid. Did A LOT of research before starting this project. A LOT. Using Angie's List, Yelp, Home Advisor et. al. and met with numerous companies. Even contact both big box home improvement retailers for bids as well. So many things to think about, evaluate and consider. Champagne taste on a beer budget? What is a budget? How much could this cost. How much WOLD this cost....So many unknowns. Was very concerned about hiring a professional contractor. Spoke to numerous people about the process, checking references, licensing, etc. It was all on the table. The house was built in the 1980's with no insulation, single pane windows, a flat roof, very dated kitchen and bathrooms etc. Plus, the utility bills were unmanageable. Wanted new windows and doors, but could they be afforded. The first and foremost need was the entire new kitchen, new bathrooms and new flooring. During the first meeting with Alin, started to establish serious thoughts about using his company, Granite Solutions. His demeanor, honesty, and vision was right on point. Alin made suggestions not thought of before that would improve the look. Made suggestions based on experience and did it tactfully and with respect. He provided information about different options at each point to improve cost efficiency, aesthetics and flow of things in the house, he addressed every concern and listened very well. Actually listened and made sure what was being said was heard. Was really hoping his bid would be competitive with all the others received - a total of 10 bids. Laid out two different construction plans for him to bid. Not having won the lottery, costs were a concern and pretty much dictated what could be done. #1 - The "WHOLE" thing, and #2 "just the requirements (floors, kitchen & baths)". Upon comparing all the bids and the work to be performed, we were very impressed with Granite Solutions pricing and the level of detail outlined in the bid. Alin provided both bids and broke down everything in detail. There was even an additional walk-thru after receiving the bids just to confirm and elaborate on everything outlined. This was AWESOME! So, went with Granite Solutions and the excellence from him and his company was reflective in the work and communication before we started and then to the crew that arrived on day 1, to the final walk thru and "blue tape" session. (where I find things that need to be addressed once done). Oh, I only used two pieces of tape, and I'm pretty meticulous. Granite Solutions work was outstanding from start to finish. There was great attention to all details of the project including, adhering to the timetable, minimizing disruption in the house, and the daily cleanup to minimize the mess. The workers were courteous and took pride in their work. The construction environment was relaxed, and there was no feeling of "strangers" in the house because there was constant communication and information flow about everything. No detail was to minimal for a discussion. Granite Solutions transformed a dated nice house into a fantastic "new" home. Ended up going with option #1 and had the whole house done. Floors. Interior paint. new bathrooms, kitchen, all doors and windows, new roof and new AC units. Because of the superior work and the effective use of time and funds, even the exterior of the house was able to be painted. All in all it's a completely new house. Fantastic price, fantastic work. I can't recommend Granite Solutions highly enough for any level of work you may be doing. Alin the owner operator of Granite Solution was great and I can't say enough good things about everyone from Granite Solutions that worked on our house. We did a complete gut and remodel of our kitchen and master bathroom. Not only did everything exceed our expectations but the work was done when promised and on time. It felt like everyone that came to work at my house cared about the smallest detail and treated my remodel like it was their own. I could ask anyone onsite questions and get answers on the spot about what they were doing and why. This was a huge plus compared to other companies that I worked with in the past. I just used Granite Solutions again for a home remodel. I used them a few years ago in my old home and because of my previous experience, I had no hesitation in having them complete this project. They installed about 1500 sq ft of wood look tile flooring and completed a shower remodel as well. The shower remodel included electric, plumbing, drywall, and tile install. We had a great experience with Alin from Granite Solutions. We had an urgent need to have a granite counter top installed in our business and Alin really came through. I had requested quotes from several other installers and Alin was the only one who followed up when he said he would. His crew showed up on time (early actually) and had the job completed quickly and professionally and the counter was great. He even did a little extra for us that was really appreciated. We offered Granite Solutions a complete bathroom and laundry remodel in late 2014 after receiving 3 quotes from 3 reputable companies. We were so happy with the result we will be using GS for our master bathroom soon. The owner, Alin, brought some design concepts to us that we had previously not considered and came to the house almost every day for the 3 weeks it took to do both rooms. He is extremely responsive to phone calls and texts and his team of people do good work; his tiler is meticulous which suits our fussy disposition. Granite Solutions is not the cheapest but given the results, it is very good value for money. Update: We have finished the Master bathroom remodel and I couldn't be more pleased. Once again Granite Solutions has done a great job and as ever, was responsive to all our questions and requests. I think a measure of how well a contractor performs is how they cope when something goes wrong. Seems we had some micro leaks in the old copper pipes. ALERT!! DO NOT HIRE GRANITE SOLUTIONS!!! Alin will have you pay almost twice as much as the slab is actually worth, and keep the rest for himself. We fired Alin after we learned that he was ripping us off, and hired someone actually trustworthy. Alin still refuses to reimburse us, even though he did not completely anything on this job, except a phone call. We are now having to go through the law to be reimbursed. I found Granite Solutions after getting several quotes around the valley. I was in the middle of a complete remodel of my house and was looking for fast service. Most places are similar in price when it comes to counter tops so I chose Alin and his team because they are the most personable and available. They are very knowledgeable, easy to get in touch with and work within a quick timetable. I picked out my own granite materials at a slab yard located in Tempe. At the slab yard, the employees knew Alin and spoke highly of him. I called Alin and he met with me the same day to measure the counter top area. He helped me with aesthetic decisions concerning my sink and edge overlap. Since I installed my own cabinets and sink, it was important to have a company install a counter top on cabinets that may or may not be perfect. We went over the cost and time frame for the job and I accepted immediately. During the next few days I received phone calls and messages about the progress being made on my counter tops. I really appreciated the communication because I was without a kitchen during this remodel. I was shocked to know that I could get my counter top installed much faster than any other business could offer. On the day of the install I heard from Alin and his team when they were on their way. They showed up on time and got right to work. They did an amazing job installing the granite counter tops on my cabinets and they fixed my sink positioning to make it fit perfectly. Since my counter top is longer than one slab of granite, I had a seam placed behind the sink and the pattern on the granite flows over the seam making it invisible. I would not hire this company!! Seems my experience is similar to C.H., I was almost ripped off by Alin! I will have to go the legal route to get the rest of my money back, what a nightmare! Alin said the job would take 3 slabs and completed the job with only 2 but failed to tell us this until I figured it out and called him on it! This is an easy rip off! You pay for 3 slabs he does job in 2 and returns the 3rd slab to the yard and keeps the money! Make sure this doesn't happen to you, beware! read more
