What an interesting spot! Staying near Incline, good breakfast is nearly impossible to find, (at least according to the good people of this app). We were heading home and wanted to eat a real breakfast before officially hitting the road and stumbled upon this place. Well hidden away down a steep ramp in the back of a little motel/hostel, June Bug Cafe really feels like the lodge of a summer camp in the best way. Due to its hidden location and proximity on the grounds, we may have been the only people eating there who weren't staying there. Surrounded by a quiet birthday party, sleepy young adults getting ready to leave for Yosemite, and a business retreat meeting, we found a lovely table toward the entrance of the restaurant after ordering our food and sat. The menu is traditional diner food. I was frankly elated. I love breakfast and we hadn't had true breakfast in a few days. One thing from our specific experience is that the food took a notably long time to prepare. We weren't annoyed by that, I chalked it up to being freshly made... and it seemed to be! Once the food arrived, (was so hungry, didn't take a photo) the plate was huge. The bacon was cooked in a way that made it taste like summer camp. All in all, the food was good. The coffee though... not great the day we were there which was a bummer. Instead, I went to a coffee spot in Mariposa after. If you happen to be in the area for breakfast, this is likely the closest spot to Yosemite on this side with good food.

Read the reviews and made sure to stop here on our way out of Yosemite for the day. Off the beaten path but awesome vibes. This cozy spot makes every dish to order, so there is a short wait but it's totally worth it. Menu pictures in other reviews are up to date. I got the chicken and my husband got the steak. Both were excellent. I also appreciated the reasonably priced kids menu!

drove 30+ min out of the way past our hotel after a long hiking day in Yosemite and I'd say it's worth the detour. in general the food is much higher quality than your average lodge restaurant or park food court. you order at the counter and seat yourself, and servers bring you your food. it was pretty lively and cozy. we tried the salmon burger ($19) and sliced ham ($22) and the portions were very generous. they also kindly substituted out coleslaw for more mashed potatoes. the ham was pretty tender, and the accompanying sauce was sweet and flavorful. the salmon burger was just okay, but it wasn't dry. the mashed potatoes and brussels were good, but the carrot was too hard. we ended off with apple pie and vanilla ice cream, I thought it was too sweet but would recommend other desserts--their cookies are humongous

Definitely one of the best options in Yosemite! I got a huge rack of pork ribs with mash potatoes, Brussels sprouts and carrots for $30. In addition, it comes with a side of soup or salad. Service was great and there was a lot of space in this restaurant.

3 stars for staff and food being good. -2 stars for hardly any parking, reservation system that is of no use as you just walk up to the counter to order. You get a number and get bring you your food. Staff was so kind and friendly. Accommodated my allergies as well. Menu changes by day it's very limited. I did not want such a large dinner at the high price. Glad there were some options to choose from though. Fish had some bones in it but it tasted good. Soup was good. Chocolate pie was just ok. Crust was good. This place had the most creepy Hills Have Eyes Texas chainsaw vibe. The alien ant head on the wall really was out of place for a family restaurant but fit this creep place vibe perfectly. I def will not return if I don't have to. No one would even know it's there unless it were for Yelp. It's not on a main road. Only ended up here due to Awhannee in Yosemite being under construction and not having a regular menu.

The Bug Hostel in Mariposa is like stumbling onto a Michelin-star restaurant disguised as a rustic mountain hideout -- built for hikers, climbers, white water rafters, and anyone who thinks showering after a 12-mile trek should come with gourmet soup and a soak. Let's talk food: it's not just "good for a hostel" -- it's legitimately amazing, period. The salmon or whatever fish special they've got going? Always A+, never misses. And the soup? Let's just say I'm convinced someone in that kitchen made a deal with a culinary wizard. I order extra every time because they've clearly got the Midas touch -- everything they ladle turns to gold. And just when you think it's all about the food, you remember the spa downstairs. Hidden like some kind of Nordic oasis, it's got a sauna and hot tub that feel like a reward for surviving your last hike, or maybe your last run-in with a bear (which, yes, totally counts as cardio). There's nothing like steaming the mountain grime out of your pores while your legs try to forgive you. The Bug is not just a hostel -- it's a mountain retreat with soul, where you can eat like royalty and recover like a Viking. Five stars, gold soup, and a hot tub confession session all in one stop.

The food was good I had French toast and pancakes both were good i went around 7 so not so crowded the place is a bit into the woods so alittle hard to find. Overall a good experience.

Super cute spot! Absolutely loved driving the mini road to get here; the selections are small, but the food is good for the area! They make giant pots of coffee that is self serve. You order up at the front and they call you to pick up the order. The interior is cute, cabin and rustic charm. Parking is plenty up front! Driving to the location is good - one road, it's small so be careful! Will be back in the future if I am in the area

    Pesto pasta

We ended up at June Bug Cafe after being disappointed by the food near our hotel, and it was worth the 35-minute drive. The food was fresh, and you can see the chefs preparing everything in the back, which was a nice touch. I had the pesto pasta, and it tasted great--clearly made with fresh ingredients. All main dishes come with a house salad or miso soup; I went with the miso soup, which had big chunks of tofu that I really appreciated. The menu seems to change frequently, which could be a plus or a drawback depending on what you're looking for. My husband was hoping for a burger, but there wasn't one on the menu that day, and unfortunately, nothing else appealed to him--so he didn't end up ordering anything. The service was good, and the overall vibe is very rustic, just something to keep in mind. All in all, it's a solid spot for fresh, well-made food if you're in the area.

Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, cold, perfectly tangy. Amazing!

I honestly cannot say enough great things about this place. Everything from the food to the service to the rustic charm...this place has my heart. Their desserts are out of this world, and their entrees are both hearty and wholesome and definitely hit the spot after an active, long day out in Yosemite Park. I am so glad that this place exists and I make a point to come here every time I am in the area. Thank you June Bug Cafe!

Charles Street Dinner House, Mariposa: 2026 Mar 12 (4 of 5)…read more Let me start off by saying that we were extremely pleased with the service, thanks to Dillon (who showed genuine rapport), Tomben (his honest opinions) and Amya (who brought me piping hot water in a beautiful mug and teapot). Their friendly, yet professional attitude make this eatery stand out. (5 of 5) This eatery has a vintage feel and historical charm. We felt we could really relax and take our time instead of being rushed to order, eat, then leave. The atmosphere feels rustic, exposing the past. It was a time capsule for folks who enjoyed that era. FOOD: Sauteed Mushroom Soup: The soup arrived with garlic bread. The soup had an earthy, savoury and nutty texture. The rich, velvety mushrooms were bouncy and cooked well, while the umami-packed broth felt comforting. The garlic bread that accompanied the mushroom soup had a perfect balance of textures - heavily buttered, with savoury garlic flavour. The golden-brown, crispy exterior was not overly toasted and the sticks were enhanced with a touch of herbal flavour. (5 of 5) New Zealand Rack of Lamb: This was my order - cooked medium-rare. The perfectly cooked meat was tender - unfortunately lacked seasoning, but a dash of salt brought this to a perfect 5. (5 of 5) I had a choice of potatoes or rice pilaf and made a wrong decision. The rice pilaf looked like baby food, and the fresh red pepper over-powered the entire dish. I tried a small scoop and was disappointed. Needless to say, I couldn't eat another bite of the rice. (1 of 5) My vegetables were mostly cooked well. They had a bit of crunch and texture but not raw. My dinner came with Tomato Soup. The soup tasted nutty and lemony, with a slight heat - and has a good aftertaste. It was silky and smooth, rich, and velvety. (5 of 5) Scallone: Our other order came with onion soup. My dinner partner had the privilege of tasting one of the best scallone years ago and was hoping to bring back great memories of this special dish he loved. This marriage of blending ground abalone and scallops is a savoury dish formed into patties. It is then breaded and lightly pan-fried in butter. The texture is supposed to be tender yet firm. The temperature was perfect but the patty came out almost like a regular pancake. A chunk of fresh red pepper was also thrown in, perhaps for colour, but it overpowered the dish. The pilaf rice was also a no-no. When the server came and asked how we enjoyed the dishes, I had to be blunt and said, "I didn't like the rice". Our server apologized and immediately offered to remove the rice on both plates and asked if we'd like potatoes instead. My partner opted for the baked potato. (5 of 5) The onion soup that accompanied this order was also a fail. Overall, this dinner was a 2 of 5. We were there to celebrate my birthday, so for dessert, we got Coconut Crème Brulee. Even though it wasn't cooked evenly, the light flavour of the coconut did not take over the mild flavour of the crème brulee. A lovely ending to an interesting dinner... and the crème brulee was a birthday treat, on the house. (4 of 5) Would we return? I think we would. I'd like to try other items on the menu because we feel it our privilege to have met some of the nicest staff in an eatery.

Cute restaurant, like a old house transformed, really only smelled like an old house in the tiny narrow bathrooms Service was absolutely fantastic, everyone we interacted with was so lovely. They all seemed to know everyone who was dining there, we were for sure the out of towners. I had a filet with side salad and baked potato. The vegetable side was well seasoned and cooked well. Basic side dish but done so well I ate them all. The thought that went into making my baked potato ready to scoop out was a small thought but I appreciated it! Even my salad was cold, crispy and crunchy. The bread on the table was delicious. My stake was yummy and loved the jus and mushrooms served with them. Hubs had the prime rib, he said it was one of the best ones he had in a long times he had the clam chowder to start and it was super tasty!!! Glad we had my birthday meal here!

It took no more than 5 minutes before it buzzed and we got in. The restaurant itself is very cozy and decorated well. We sat at a table that used hanging doors as dividers, which we thought was a neat idea. The lighting was nice, not too bright but also not super dim. Our server told us about some specials and also recommended a few different meals. We took up her offer on fries and went with that. Even though it technically was a shareable, it was a huge serving! The fries were perfectly crunchy with a soft interior. The steak was also really juicy and tender, not too chewy at all. The sauces and cheese mixed in with the fries were also the perfect balance of salty, crunchy goodness. The salmon was deliciously soft and moist. They paired very nicely with the creamy mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. We worked together to just barely finished the salmon and take most of the steak and fries home for leftovers. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend this spot! The quality and amount of food makes the price worth it. If we're ever visiting the area again, we'll definitely stop by 1850!

While walking in, I thought to myself "it's gorgeous, why didn't we stay here again?" and then remembered because all of their low ratings as a hotel are due to poor service. The receptionist at the entrance is very bleh (didn't even greet us, she just looked at us so we said hello first ). We sat down and ordered. We were the only customers. The girl who took our order was nice enough but lacked professionalism. She just seemed out of it. She didn't write down our order, but a few minutes later came back saying "wait what did you for your entree again?". I'm glad she double checked, but for the price of the food and aesthetic of the restaurant, I expected better service. I ordered the wagyu burger but wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked - I assume they only cook it well-done because that's how it came. It didn't have the juicy buttery flavor of Wagyu, or really any flavor at all. The bread was good. The fries are phenomenal and I liked that more than my burger Carrots & whipped ricotta was good but not great - very flat flavor profile of ricotta, honey, and carrots. I think this dish could've been better with some acidity like a bit of lemon on the side. The chicken pesto penne pasta was good, but still flat. It would be better with cherry tomatoes or something to give it depth. The pasta was cooked perfectly Despite the chicken being absolutely tiny (approx 4"), it was juicy. Wish there was more of it I didn't care for the butternut squash soup but my husband liked it. It had good flavor but was very thin. Overall the place is pretty, but I wouldn't return as the food was very forgettable. It's a shame that the best thing was the side of fries. I'm giving a 4 due to the food tasting clean/quality.

Already blown away by the kindness and hospitality, I of course said 'yes' and my dog was in heaven. The inside looked cozy and inviting, but I sat outside (dog) and ordered the smoked corned beef hash and an orange juice. Not long after, a gentleman came out with the food (I believe he is the other owner) and it looked amazing! The plate was loaded, it came with two perfectly cooked eggs on top and an aioli drizzle that was so tasty. On top of all this, the meal included one of their scratch made biscuits, and the owner/chef gave me some of their gravy to try, on the house! Both the corned beef hash and the biscuit were hands down the best I've ever had. The breakfast potatoes were also cooked to perfection. The portion was almost enough for two people it was so generous. The only thing that would have made the experience 110% would have been fresh squeezed orange juice, but that's just cause I love fresh OJ. I (and my dog) ate like royalty and were treated to the best service I've experienced in a long time. We're a captive audience staying at an expensive hotel, I get that things will cost more. For breakfast though, coffee is $12 for a "French press for 2". 2 mugs are provided and you'd be quite lucky to get a mug and a half of coffee out of it. Also the coffee is not great but that's a different issue. $12 for 2 people to feel like they didn't get much coffee is a bummer. Also we got the lox bagel one morning. It was an open face lox sandwich ON HALF A BAGEL. I asked the server, surely a mistake, where is the other half bagel? Menu suggests "a bagel", which would suggest an item totaling a single bagel. The server fought the good fight with their GM and got us another half a bagel. Such a bizarre thing. I get that food costs are high and all, but in that environment you can charge a little more and ensure customers don't feel like they're being squeezed. It's ok to be expensive and generous (at a luxury resort). It's not ok to be pretty expensive and stingy. My tip, grab a coffee at the shop next to the lobby, and a bagel there too while you're at it.

We were in the area over the weekend, and we decided to take my girlfriend's parents here for a…read morelittle lunch. Turns out we left with much more! We ordered a few things such as as the duck prosciutto sandwich, raw oysters, clam chowder, and the absolute star of the show, a side of the spicy habanero garlic butter! The bread for the duck prosciutto sandwich was amazing. I just wish they put more meat and/or fixing because the sandwich was on the smaller side given the price tag. Tasty for sure, especially dipping the sandwich into the garlic butter. Oysters were super fresh, and wouldn't hesitate to order again. They have a bunch of jams and hot sauces that you can buy to take home, along with pre-packaged habanero garlic butter (which we ended up buying and have been putting on everything we've been eating). Definitely recommend picking up this butter for at-home cooking because it adds a nice layer of spice to any meal without being overly spicy. For the jams, there's so many options and the staff was kind enough to do a jam sampling with us and after tasting we ended up with a jar of their padron pepper jelly. Put it on my sandwich at home, instantly elevated it to another level. Staff from start to finish was a 10/10. Very kind, super attentive, and made us feel very welcomed. Overall, I'll definitely will be back to buy more of the spicy garlic butter and jams!

I elected to have it with butter served on a warm roll. An abundance of lobster. I followed that up with a bowl of New England clam chowder. Also another good choice. The server and owner were both very pleasant and accommodating. What nice hospitality. We ate at the counter. A nice dining experience.
