Good but not the best. I recently discovered Grant Central Pizza while searching for quick food in EAV. First Visit: I ordered a slice of pizza and a salad to go in person. The wait was a little longer than I had expected however the staff was very friendly and offered me a fountain drink while I waited. Once I got home and tried my pizza, it was just ok. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it were a late night snack after drinking. The salad seemed very old as the lettuce was a bit browned and the croutons were soggy. Definitely would not order a salad again. Second Visit: I called in an order for a calzone. Upon calling in, I was immediately asked to hold however was not actually put on hold. I could still hear everything that was happening which I thought was kind of odd. After about 2 min a young lady took my order. When I arrived, the lady at the counter was going off about a homeless guy who I guess had come in asking for a free drink and she didn't like the way he asked for it. I wasn't there for the encounter however I can say that I heard all about it while I waited at the counter for her to finish venting to the staff that was doing the cooking. When I got home and tried my calzone I can say it was definitely better than the pizza slice I had on my first visit. The fillings were plentiful and the size of the sauce that came with it was perfect. Parking: There is a parking lot behind the establishment. It has been full the two times I visited however it was very easy to find street parking. Ambiance: I can't really speak much to the ambiance since both of my visits involved to-go orders. Why does this taste sub-parr to the other location? I thought I ordered from the GP location (mostly as I clicked on the GP location and the click to order). Odd, our order wasn't there. Instead we drove over the the EAV location (nbd), however, the quality of this pizza was 4am drunk za and nothing more. It doesn't taste like the other location quality at all. Every New York transplant's dream is to find a spot where the cheese slice measures up to the tasty NY slices we miss from back home. Yes yes...I know..shut up..I've been here 13 years...get over it. But I can't. 13 years later the search continues. I've actually been to Grand Central (this one is on Glenwood...there is a non-related pizza spot on Cherokee which is actually tastier) quite a few times. I mean, I've lived in EAV/Decatur for 8 years plus...you kind of just land here sometimes. And that my friends is the best thing this spot has going for it. LOCATION. Whether it be a random urge for pizza after partying at the Graveyard or that same urge sober sitting on your couch...this location is super convenient. To the food we go. This particular visit (as with most) I got a cheese slice. I also got a sicilian slice which I guess is new-ish on the menu. Slice was $2.75. Silician $3.25 I believe. The cheese slice isn't great..it isn't awful..boring description but its basically mediocre. Hard to put my finger on why (as i'm not a pizza maker). The crust is crunchy which is nice. The sauce just isn't that great. Tart, dry...kinda ragu-ish. The cheese is just cheese. Doesn't particular taste of great quality nor bottom of the barrel. The silician imho wasn't a true silician but actually I found to be decent. Particular the bread. It was pretty light on the inside with a nice crisp. The sauce and cheese...yep you guessed it...pretty much same description as the cheese slice. All and all if you have the energy to make it over to Grant Park Pizza over on Cherokee do that. But what this spot offers is a true neighborhood feel. Somewhere that feels like it should be there. Honorable mention to the subs which I've had in the past and might just be better than the pizza. FYI, there is parking on the back side of this place if you aren't able to find any on the street. read more

The salad however was great, but it's hard to mess up a salad. The prices are reasonable, and I like that you can order slices instead of a whole pizza. I just moved downtown and was craving some za from a non-chain (I know they have 2 locations, but it's not Pizza Hut) kinda place. I've eaten at the Grant Park location many times, so I figured this experience would be the same. I called and placed a to-go order on a Thursday night. The place was dead, assuming it was due to the severe storms and pouring rain that was occurring at the time. I ordered a medium pie with bacon and onions and was quoted 20 minutes. I arrived about 25 minutes later and my order was ready. I paid the $17.55 and was on my way. The ordering and pickup was easy, smooth, efficient and friendly. Customer service was exactly as I anticipated it would be...no issues there. The pizza was cooked thoroughly and it tasted awesome, as their food usually does. Parking is definitely a bitch at this location, so be prepared to be a little frustrated there. Overall, I would definitely order from there again without hesitation. Just plain and simple...NASTY! I just got a calzone from here with pepperoni, onion, spinach and bacon. The bacon was not cooked all the way, the pepperoni tasted package stored brought and the entire stomach sized sandwich just lacked flavor! I didn't complain or anything but one of my friends got a bad burnt slice of pizza and he had to send it back. The second time it came out it was a light yellow not even throughly cooked. Discovered this place while going to one of the surrounding bars. It just so happened to be "National Pizza Day" so we decided to try it out. Good pizza with huge slices. We ordered the large white pizza and added baked chicken and it was pretty good. Hubby and I stumbled upon this gem after feeling hungry from browsing the Fall Market they held for the local stores in the area. This place is located in Eastern Atlanta on a small local road. Places around here aren't too hustling and bustling with people like Decatur Square & Krog Street. The times we've visited the area, it's very peaceful, quiet and is actually never crowded with people. The Gourmet Vegetarian was my first and most likely only favorite choice from here on out. Judging from the large thin slices, you can tell it's naturally good pizza. We get a medium every time and in big pizza company terms like 'Marcos Pizza' or 'Papa Johns' the size does NOT compare. Yikes man. The difference is crazy!! Their medium = a large or even an XL depending on if it's a good day. The first visit has definitely been consistent with the countless times we've visited afterwards. It has become a tradition for us to visit the place if we're ever in the area (or we're craving QUALITY PIZZA) Enter restroom stalls if you dare. The decorum and writings on the wall gives a lot of character to the place. Service is subpar, don't come in here expecting so much; it's not the place. The customer service was nothing to brag about & the front and back doors do not close all the way. There were little flies flying around and the ac ducts were sweating and leaking on the floor and close to, if not on some of the tables. Been coming here since my family moved to East Atlanta about 5 years ago. We have enjoyed food here till today... Let's skip the funky smell you get when you walk in and start w the BATHROOM...OH MY GOODNESS! The sewer stench hits you like a brick wall. All my appetite went right out the door. Even my 2 year old toddler refuse to use the bathroom. One of the toilet must be rocking & was stabilized with a shimmy... that may explain the funky smell I encountered when I walked into the restaurant. I would have left then but our food was paid for already & had to endure. Now the pizza...looked pretty on the outside but it was a mess!!! It was burnt on the bottom. It had no sauce to speak of and the dough under the toppings were undercooked. I have raved about the cold mug and Budweiser from Grant Central for years and even that was missing.
