I had no idea this place existed until recently (turns out there are only a couple of locations), but I'm glad I found it. Now, let me be honest: I'm usually not a fan of pepperoni... but I devoured theirs. I don't know what kind of crack-infused cheesy goodness they've got going on, but I'm fully sold. And the chicken bacon ranch sandwich? Banging. It was massive -- caught me completely off guard in the best way. From the flavor to the portions, Donatos is now one of my go-to pizza joints. 10/10 recommend -- you seriously need to check this place out. Bonus tip: If you're dining in or picking up, watch out for the pothole at the turn -- it's a doozy. read more

We went in as a family of 7. Overall, everyone thought the food was just okay. Everyone except me, that is. I had the Very Vegy pizza which ones on the crispiest cauliflower crust I've ever had and was seasoned to perfection. Like, I legit would go back just to eat this pizza. If I had gone in and eaten just this pizza, I'd rate the experience a 5. On the other hand, the cheese pizza was "meh". The pizza sauce didn't have enough flavor. It was very very plain. The wings were okay, not cooked hard enough but the sauces were fine. If I had gone in and eaten just this pizza, I'd rate the experience a 2. Not pictured are some sandwiches (meatball sub and maybe a calzone) and bread sticks our older girls ate. Again, it was just okay. The restaurant is properly lit, nicely designed, and well kept. The bathrooms are single-use and clean. The staff is friendly, and they'll make it right if they mess up part of an order. read more

Friday night outing in Avondale estates. Parking is minimal. Interior was clean and nice. Lots of menus. And two TVs. One that advertises the store. The other streams tv shows. Two bathrooms. My issue was their system. They had a chalkboard for a special large pizza and $4.99 cinnamon bread. Ordered the special, only for their system to not accept the special. They made no attempt to honor it or erase it. First no, no. Then ordered a vegan pizza stressed I wanted cheese...I know, but they didn't have vegan cheese, but they did have vegan protein so that's a plus. Service was a little odd. Seems like their was some training going on. Staff was young. My vegan pizza came out no cheese. I sent it back she asked if I wanted another one...I stated I want cheese...she said ok. The new pizza came back burnt. Their pizza is super thin. My experience wasn't the best. Won't be back. My bill was $60+ bucks. The pizza here was okay, nothing amazing but was an okay dinner. Got their special Valentine heart pizza and it's a cute shape but the flavor of the pizza was okay. We requested extra sauce and it didn't seem like we got any and it felt like it needed it. The Italian salad was just bad, it was shredded lettuce which should never be in a salad and they didn't include any dressing even though we requested some. Okay for what it was ... chain pizza. It's a different vibe pizza, flat crust, loaded topping. I ordered the half meat and half house, the house was good. Although loaded with topping it wasn't overwhelming. The quality of the sauce was meh, it was more metallic tasting - like from a can. I ordered the wings ... they were good. I don't usually have high expectations when I order from places like Donatos..but this experience was worth writing about. We ordered 1 pizza and two salads....easy right...not so much. Driver arrived w/out salads, so he had to call and so did we to get it right. Once pizza arrived, I wondered if they sent the wrong order.....how do you mess up a Margarita pizza? It was the absolute worst Margarita pizza I have EVER tasted. It was as if they poured maple syrup on it. It did not even remotely taste like pizza...how is that possible? I hesitated and thought about ordering from Papa John's or Dominoes instead...sure do wish I had. At least that would have tasted like bread and cheese. Seriously, the last time. Okay, now that my initial extreme excitement about Donatos coming to Atlanta has subsided, I think I can better review this location. I (and the rest of my Ohio family) find the taste to be a little off here. It's hard to explain, but it's missing the signature Donatos taste. I also don't think they cook the pizzas long enough (they even look a little different from the pizzas in Ohio). I've ordered from this location about 4 times now and every time I'm a little disappointed. It's not that it's bad, it's just not the Donatos I know and love. read more

Ordered (delivery) 2 large pizzas and a small caprese salad.. pretty good! The salad was loaded in tomato, but lacked pieces of mozzarella. First order was made via uber eats for one large pepperoni pizza, a 2 liter soda and two side orders of bread sticks. The bread sticks arrived as a total of four, unsure if that is correct in number, with two strips of tape on its bag. The pizza had one strip of tape on the front and it arrived loose at the bottom. The store was closed by the time my order arrived. The taste of the pizza sauce was bitter. The marinera sauces for the bread sticks with a faint garlic flavor was bland and lifeless. No flavors of basil, garlic and oregano. The pizza crust was very similar to dominos, a no yeast crust that is bland, and the faint hope of flavor was the Papa John's-like garlic sauce. The crust was uneven in height, some parts were high and thick but the most of it was flat, somewhat more brown than I prefer. I do not recommend unless you like pizza with a bitter aftertaste and lifeless, bland marinera sauce for the somewhat bland bread sticks. Uber eats need a better list from which to order to use their promotions. I was concerned about eating the pizza and surprised at the four bread sticks' size and quantity. I have been coming to the Donato's Avondale location ever since it's opening about a month ago. Had never heard about them until they had come to Georgia. All I knew was that they were a bunch of pizza chains based out of Columbus,, Ohio.Thus far they have been phenomenal with their pizzas and boneless wings. In the area for a visit and to my surprise Donatos was open. Last time I had it was when I was in Ohio so I had to place a order. Pros: - the shop itself was very clean. - tasted just like I remembered in Ohio. Cons: - I pre ordered my 4 pizzas for pick up at 11:30am. There was only 1 customer when I went in at 11:28am so I'm not sure why it took so long to make my pizzas. Was out the door around 11:44am. Overall: I'd give Donatos a 4.5 review if half stars were allowed. The Chicken Mariachi is still my favorite pizza to get from there and would recommend that to those that want a Mexican flavor profile pizza. Make sure you use the sour cream and seasoning when you eat it. read more

The food quantity was not good for the amount paid food was subpar. Could've made a better sandwich at home. Called management Robert is incompetent. He tried to tell me that because I took off pepper jack cheese and pickles they don't add extra toppings. Which is not what I was suggesting, the amount of food they are giving for $12 is unacceptable whether I took toppings off or not. We got three somewhat complicated pizzas to go, all different sizes, one GF, and the orders were spot on, perfectly cooked and a big hit at the nursing home where we took them. Highly recommend. Why 5 stars when my pizza looks like it's missing a couple of slices? Well they took care of me and more importantly I'm now on the Cauliflower crust and plant based sausage team. Sauce is really flavorful. Their pizza doesn't really have a crust because the ingredients, intentionally, come to the end. My doc told me to cut down on carbs so this is now my guilty pleasure. parking can be tight as their is a Mexican restaurant next door. Donatos just opened maybe 2 weeks ago early November 2022 but seem to be well staffed. Maybe the Noom gods were watching out and said chile you don't need those last 2 pieces anyway. read more

My family was excited to try this restaurant out for the first time. It was a little further than I expected so I arrived exactly 20 minutes late. When I opened all the pizza boxes to view the pizza's they were burnt. One extremely more than the others. I asked to speak to a manager and his response was that it looks like I waited too long to pick them up and my pizza's have been sitting. No, they were just burnt. He didn't even offer to replace my order. He just said that's how cheese starts to look after it's been sitting. My order was $70. Needless to say I was pretty pissed. Pizza was nowhere to be found, DoorDash (who they use to power their delivery) driver wouldn't answer calls and any calls were either routed to general order center or a busy message which disconnected call.
