Sarah was super attentive, detail-oriented, and gave amazing suggestions that actually made me try (and love) things I normally wouldn't go for. She clearly knows the menu and reads her guests well. If I could give 10 stars I would! The managers, Stephan and Terrence were so accommodating to our group of over 45 teachers. Terrence went out of his way when our attendance numbers kept on climbing. The day of the event didn't even feel hectic because of the wonderful tentative staff. It was one of our most successful events we've sponsored. Didn't feel like the restaurant atmosphere tonight so just went to get some pickup. The restaurant itself is very beautiful indoor and has a nice outdoor seating area as well with large warming lights. Tried to order online but the system was down. Ordered the Alfredo fettuccine with shrimp and extra sauce on the side. Order was completed fast. Got back to my room and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Glad I got the extra sauce on the side because I like my pasta with drowned in sauce. The shrimp was grilled perfectly. Pasta was good. It comes with warm sourdough bread on the side. Great meal. I've been eager to try this place in South Loop for a while now, and finally made it there last Saturday before heading to the Buckingham Fountain event. Our reservation was for 9:30, and they accommodated our request to sit outside, which was fantastic. Our waitress seemed a bit busy with other tables, so there was a slight delay in getting our orders taken, but once placed, our food arrived promptly. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will definitely make this my go-to spot for breakfast. While the breakfast/brunch menu isn't overly pricey and offers vegan and vegetarian options, compared to other places in the neighborhood, it could have a bit more variety. They also had bottomless mimosas for $22, although we didn't partake this time. The patio seating was lovely on such a beautiful day, and I look forward to returning. It was very good and likely a merlot or similar. The Mac and Cheese had a mornay sauce as well as decoration cheddar. The beet salad was a bit disappointing as I thought there would be some greens with it, not just beets. I like roasted beets but this was a lot of beets. My family and I were staying at the Hilton across the street and walked here for dinner after learning they offered a kids menu. We were seated quickly in the back with a great view of the patio and park. There is no bad seat here, as the restaurant is positioned right on Michigan Avenue, open and flooded with natural light. For starters, we had the BBQ Chicken Wings. Normally I'm not a fan of dry rub, but these were very good. Even my 7 year old grandson loved them! The coating was crisp and smoky, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The kids Pasta Bolognese was huge. Far more than my 2 year old granddaughter could eat, which worked out well for those of us who had it for leftovers :) The sauce on the pasta had an amazing tang that made it all the better next day. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente, and the hand shaved parmesan was generously cut and portioned. My daughter and I shared the Butternut Squash Risotto, which too was generously sized. It was served hot, rich and creamy. However, it could have used a little more parmesan, salt or something else to give the squash a little more flavor. For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Gelato and Salted Caramel Bar. Both were also sized for sharing and very good. The Bar's hazelnut praline crisp, neither flavor I'm generally a fan of either, was a nice addition to the caramel. The all American burger is juicy and delicious but the fries were tasteless and pretty cold. The Caesar salad was good, just needed more dressing. The service was not just poor but we saw evidence of discrimination every single day. Certain customers would get choice seating while some were told the exact seat was not available. The same customers would get faster service while others waited. It was like the entire crew of waiters have been trained to do this. I've ordered food here once and enjoyed everything. The first day I came here, frankly I really did not like the service or how we were taken care of. The second day... It was much better. We sat outside and enjoyed the food and the ambience. The third day, we met Jonny, the bartender, because it was so packed and we can only sit at the bar. That was when we really began to like coming here. Because it's in our hotel, it's so easy, and Jonny was the one who actually made it special! Number one, his espresso martini is the best I've had in the entire city! He made it fun to be able to order exactly what she wants and it came out exactly how she likes it. The fries were worse. I sat at the bar and the service was not rude and it not was it friendly....it was perfunctory. The bartenders then spoke Spanish to one another and were laughing--which made me uncomfortable. When I paid my bill the bartender stiffed me on $5 change!! I pointed it out to him and he never rectified it so I rectified it by deducting $5 in my tip. Truth is, this place gets away with serving subpar garbage because of their location. Us out of town fools who are too tired to look for better are a dime a dozen but if you are reading this and you are from out of town and tired and hungry DON'T waste your money on food here. Undecided on the worth of this venue. Probably the best part about visiting is that Le Meridien Essex Hotel (Next door) will give you $15 off coupon to dine at this place each day. But you need that $15 discount! Hot Tea is $5! You're paying for the convenience - right next to hotel. The worst part is lack of variety of menu items and lack of flexibility across meals. We visited a few times over course of long weekend. Was super disappointed to learn I couldn't order brunch option after 11am on Monday morning. What's a girl want when on vacay in the city? Bummer. Very strange. We ate here yesterday and aside from my husband's inedible bacon, the food was good and we were happy with the service with one exception. A guest from the hotel showed up barefoot and the restaurant shrugged, saying it was the hotel's responsibility despite not wanting to alert anyone from the adjoining hotel. Gross. Today we showed up and were told we could not sit at a table, despite my husband's high status with Marriott. There were open tables, but all of us hotel guests were relegated to the counter. The bar staff was not well equipped to serve so many people. They did their best, but they were put in a position to not succeed while guests received subpar service. My boyfriend and I got the $30 mimosa brunch, which came with 90 minutes of bottomless mimosas + any brunch meal of your choice, and was honestly such a deal. Went back for dinner thinking maybe different staff would be better, not the case. We waited for a long time to get service. They brought us a bottle of water, and once we finished it, they took our bottle, but never came back with a new one. The burger and fries were good, and it did come out reasonably fast, so that's why they are getting two stars. The waiter never came by to check on us. When we were finished the waiter just sat and talked with the bartender and some other employee standing there. They just need to REALLY work on getting new staff that knows how to work.
