Had a great dinner at the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant. Was there for Bruno Mars concert at the soldier field and decide to try this amazing restraint. The dry-aged ribeye was the highlight of the meal perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with rich, beefy flavor. The salmon was equally impressive, flaky and fresh with a nicely balanced seasoning. The broccolini provided a crisp, flavorful complement to both entrées. The historic atmosphere, attentive service, and beautifully restored firehouse setting made the experience even more memorable. A great spot for a special night out or anyone looking for a classic steakhouse experience.

Phenomenal dinner from start to finish. They were out of the standard ribeye, but honestly no complaints. The dry aged ribeye more than made up for it. Paired with fresh roasted garlic and black truffle butter on top, every bite was rich, layered, and exactly what a steakhouse experience should feel like. The service was on point attentive, polished, and matched the energy of the space perfectly. The vibe is upscale and elevated, think smart casual rather than stuffy. Drinks were solid too -- well crafted and a great complement to the meal. Chicago Firehouse sets the bar high. If the dry aged ribeye with truffle butter is wrong, I don't want to be right. Will absolutely be back. -Mr.

Once again could not wait to return to Chicago Firehouse for their awesome happy hour specials, excellent service, and classy ambience! My friend and I had to have the lobster bisque - yummy as always! I was a little hungrier, so I opted for my go to jumble crabcake, which was super fresh hot and perfectly flavored! Hostesses, bartenders and staff are exemplary top notch restaurant grade service!

The Chicago firehouse is an iconic steakhouse in the south loop. The building an architecture masterpiece and it is remodeled after an old Chicago firehouse. The menu features upscale menu items with plenty of steak and seafood options. I really enjoyed all of the food especially the lobster bisque and fish and chips. Service was also fantastic there were a couple of high profile people there but the staff still gave us great service. An absolute great place to get dinner while in Chicago.

I really like the ambience of this old fire station turned restaurant. We made a reservation for a Friday night and were seated right away. We had wonderful service here. They serve the kids drinks in the cutest fire hydrant cup! For food I tried the lobster bisque, it was good, but I would love to see chunks of lobster in it. My husband got the chicken dish with kale and potatoes, and it was much more flavorful than my dish of the trio medallions. I felt like the mushroom sauce needed more flavor and it was overloaded with mushrooms. Overall, we had a good experience here, if I return, I would try different menu items .

8oz center cut filet was delicious and cooked perfectly. Mushrooms were a great compliment.

I was told they had the best espresso martini in town so I had to come try it. The drink didn't live up the hype but wasn't bad, I've just had better. The food was great I tried the half roasted chicken and shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. The shrimp was very fresh and on the larger size which is always a plus. The chicken was good as well, the gravy pairs well. Won't be back for the martinis but the food will see me again.

All out delicious meal. Not all reviews need a long drawn out explanation. Just go and experience for yourself. The service, food, and drinks were all excellent.

Old firehouse from 1905 to 1987! Server Jordan filled us in on the history and helped us choose food. Good happy hour with $5 wine and beer and $5 appetizers! Tangible reminders of the building's past abound, such as the wood paneled doors originally used as exits for horse drawn fire engines. Even got a pic of the fire pole the firemen used to get to the first floor. They must have all been skinny. Great experience!

My Beyoncé friends (new & old) waited out the storm before the concert at this comfortable spot. It seems to get busy, so make reservations. We were able to grab a seat at the bar. Love: branzino (well- seasoned/ delicious arugula salad); garlic-whipped potatoes (creamy); cocktails (well-crafted); service (thoughtful, kind, hospitable - let us settle in during the bad weather) Like: creme-brulee (lady finger cookies delicious) Dislike: coconut cream pie (I don't like coconut flakes, so someone else might love this.)

    Birthday sash!!

Service was incredible! Came here to celebrate a birthday , and they provided a super fun sash upon arrival which was a nice touch! We didn't have a reservation but were able to snag a table in the back! The table bread is up there as some of the best I have ever had, garlicky and perfectly baked , I could have eaten so much more of that! The crab cake was phenomenal though im not sure it was worth its $24 price tag! The entrees are where there was something left to be desired! The steak frites though gorgeous in presentation just wasn't good? I'm not sure how to explain it but it didn't taste like steak ? The French fries were fine. My dinner partner got meatloaf and he also said it wasn't the best! I probably wouldn't come back here due to the quality / price ratio but the restaurant was very cozy and pretty and the service was nice!

    Date night.

We were celebrating a birthday and enjoyed their delicious appetizers and some really fresh oysters. Then had the "The Firehouse Executive" special, which feeds two and comes with so much food you will have leftovers. The staff were gracious and efficiently moved to ensure guests were having a wonderful experience. Appears their floor manager is "da man" and well, you can tell he runs a tight ship. Overall, it was a chill vibe and Kristie is the best! Along with the gentlemen who worked alongside her to ensure tables were engaged and served seamlessly. Great for date nights, they also have private event spaces as well. In the past, I had an alumni event there and the staff/team were amazing then as they are now. They have valet and metered street parking (we found spaces a block west) as well.

Ask the Community - The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

Is there a kids menu available and do you use your regular menu on game days? I noticed a game day menu on your website but it seemed very different/limited from your regular menu.…

Of course. We are a neighborhood restaurant, so you’ll see suits, couples on a first date, Northerly Island concert goers as well as Bears fans in full regalia. A little bit of everything. See you soon!

    Is the meat halal?

    It is not.

Is the dinning room now open inside? I heard about this place and have been wanting to go but I want to wait to be able to see all the Old Firehouse architecture while there.

Yes it is open again, although call ahead as I believe their hours have changed.

    What is the dress code?

It's mostly dressy. However, during concerts and Bears games it really doesnt matter, especially at the bar.

Do they offer happy hour specials?

Yes! Some of the best in SL. 4-6 and it's every day. $3.50 Stella and Anti Hero. $5 glasses of wine and discounted apps and oysters.

They also have outdoor seating, which is a nice option, but sat inside bc it was too cold out, in May if you could believe that. The menu is unique and wanted to try it all, so we shared a few plates. The poke was fresh and tasty, but the green beans were the star. I have no idea how they make them, but they were absolutely delicious and there's a reason they're one of the most popular dishes. We also had the bass and the shank. The bass was good, but the shank was incredible. It was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and the flavor was amazing. If you're going here, I highly recommend ordering it. The only downside was that the shank came out last. By then we were already pretty full from the other dishes, and this was actually one of the larger plates, it could easily count as two dishes by itself. Looking back, I wish we had ordered only three plates. Our waitress was attentive and recommended we stick to four plates, which we appreciated. Overall, a great experience and it's easy to see why this is one of Chicago's must-visit restaurants!!!

The ambience is one of my favorite things about this place -- the atmosphere, the music, and the beautiful view from the 22nd floor always make it feel like a special night out in the city. The service during my most recent visit was great. Sarah, our server, was amazing -- attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Unfortunately, this was the first time I didn't enjoy my food. I ordered the grilled chicken skewer appetizer, and while it looked good, something about the flavor just didn't sit well with my taste buds. It may simply come down to personal preference, but it wasn't something I particularly enjoyed. One thing I do appreciate about VU Rooftop is that their menu changes seasonally, which always allows for a new experience each time I patronize. Even though the food didn't quite hit the mark for me this time, it won't stop me from returning. The ambience, service, and those 22nd-floor views of the city are always worth the visit. I'll definitely be back -- I'll just probably skip the grilled chicken skewer appetizer next time.

My friend had the Double Wagyu cheeseburger. Everything was relatively good, the steak frites cooked a little too done for me though. The salad, the thick-cut bacon, and the cheeseburger were delicious. I am not a fan of the truffle mac n cheese, but then again I don't really like truffle, so take that into consideration. Dessert was delicious! Apple Pie and ice cream were literally so good. While I don't think it's spectacular or anything, it's on par with other Chicago restaurants in this category, and I would visit again.
