Visited this restaurant last night I ordered the wagu meatballs ( I didn't like them ...very dry and maybe overcooked)) the whipped ricotta (it was pretty good) Delmonico ribeye mashed potatoes Brussels sprouts and the key lime pie. Wonderful experience! Everything was stellar. Excellent, friendly, and attentive service from Dianna and Megan! The venue is gorgeous! Beautiful brick building with elegant wooden furniture, and a piano in the main room. Chic atmosphere. Multiple dining rooms and lovely bar too. Very spacious interior and beautiful outdoor patio. We are outside and loved it. It was a cooler evening but we're so happy we sat outside. Romantic lighting, lovely heat lamps, and we were offered blankets as well. There is also an upper level rooftop area that was hosting a wedding. I love how much space this building has. I had the blood orange Paloma cocktail, which was good but I didn't really taste the blood orange. My boyfriend enjoyed his Manhattan. The food is high quality and fabulous. I ordered one of the specials, the Heirloom Tomato Panzanella. It was a beautiful and fresh salad with tomatoes, nectarines, red onion, croutons, and stracciatella cheese as the bottom base instead of lettuce. It was delicious! I paired it with the lobster bisque, which was epic. It has this magnificent puff pastry baked over the top and it's so tasty to dip in the bisque. Truly special. My boyfriend loved his meatloaf entree. We also really enjoyed the Wagyu meatballs as our appetizer, which had a perfectly spicy marinara sauce with it. We were also given delicious complementary rolls and butter. The Brussels sprouts were very good too, and the potatoes at gratin were creamy and fantastic. I really like the ambience of this old fire station turned restaurant. We made a reservation for a Friday night and were seated right away. We had wonderful service here. They serve the kids drinks in the cutest fire hydrant cup! For food I tried the lobster bisque, it was good, but I would love to see chunks of lobster in it. My husband got the chicken dish with kale and potatoes, and it was much more flavorful than my dish of the trio medallions. I felt like the mushroom sauce needed more flavor and it was overloaded with mushrooms. Overall, we had a good experience here, if I return, I would try different menu items . read more

The wonderful experience began with a very attentive host and general manager who recognized our reservation and that we had a birthday in our party. The birthday sash for my fiance was a lovely touch. We elected the Firehouse Executive offering for two which begins with a well balanced lobster bisque with a lovely pastry topping. I could go through all of the dining options but while the rest were excellent including a perfectly cooked filet; the star of the show was the creamed spinach. We went to this location dinner for an event. We were in the downstairs, speak easy bar, where we had our appetizers and drinks then we moved up to the small dining room rooms up the stairs and both the food in the atmosphere were delightful. The staff were also very attentive to our needs and the food was really yummy in both places both the passed hors d'oeuvres and the set menu that they provided. It is in great location, close to the convention center, they did meeting dinners pretty well. They did have another open restaurant for eating, but we didn't go in there so I can't speak to that. read more

The Chicago firehouse is an iconic steakhouse in the south loop. The building an architecture masterpiece and it is remodeled after an old Chicago firehouse. The menu features upscale menu items with plenty of steak and seafood options. I really enjoyed all of the food especially the lobster bisque and fish and chips. As a loyal customer of Firehouse Restaurant for many years. I have dined in more than a dozen times and have also ordered carryout on numerous occasions. Because of my long history with the restaurant, I was especially disappointed by my most recent experience. Tonight, I ordered the meatloaf for carryout, a dish I have enjoyed several times in the past. While eating, I discovered a bone chip in the meatloaf. Concerned, I immediately called the restaurant to let them know about the issue. I simply explained that I had found a bone in my meatloaf. The response I received was, "Okay, I'll let the kitchen know," and then the call was ended. Finding a bone chip in a meatloaf is concerning enough, but what was even more disappointing was the lack of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. As a longtime customer who has supported this restaurant for years, I expected a more professional and customer-focused response. I am sharing this feedback in the hope that management takes food quality concerns more seriously and provides better customer service when loyal patrons bring legitimate issues to their attention. read more

We were visiting Chicago for our 38th anniversary in May 2026. My husband was a Baltimore city firefighter for 32 years so we wanted to try out this renovated firehouse turned restaurant. It is very high end, similar to a Ruth's Chris. We both have small appetites so we ordered the twin petite filet mignons (about 3 oz each). They are wrapped in bacon and scrumptious. The side dishes were ala carte and we shared the creamed spinach with onion straws & potatoes au gratin. The entire meal was delicious. We got a free scoop of mango sorbet for anniversary dessert. We both only had water to drink. The total cost was $121, not including tip. This is more than we usually spend on meals but this was a special occasion so it was worth it. read more

Old firehouse from 1905 to 1987! Server Jordan filled us in on the history and helped us choose food. Good happy hour with $5 wine and beer and $5 appetizers! Tangible reminders of the building's past abound, such as the wood paneled doors originally used as exits for horse drawn fire engines. I can't believe I haven't dined here on my previous trips to Chicago! This is a spot you just don't want to miss. Not only is this restaurant housed in a historic Chicago firehouse, but the food, service, and ambience are all top-notch. My mouth started watering the moment I walked in the door. We chose this restaurant for a business dinner for a group of six people. This restaurant is located in what I am assuming to be an old firehouse, but I don't know. I do know it's an old building and it's very cool. The Waitt staff is highly anticipatory of your needs. Your water is filled continuously without asking. For me seriously, that's a treat! we started with some bread knots and lamb lollipops. Both were demolished very quickly. There wasn't a lot of talking by the group. Well, those appetizers were going around. Being famous for their state, everyone ordered steak. And it was done very well. However, you ordered it, rare, medium, rare, whatever, the kitchen knew how to do that steak. And it was cooked phenomenally with no extra fat or gristle. We got four sides, which was more than enough food to feed six people and still have leftovers. We didn't mean to add dessert, but since for the dinners came with a dessert to share, dessert was had by all. And again they were very, very happy people. We did rather close the restaurant.. But the entire team had worked a convention and this was a nice way for the company to say thank you. There is one caveat, if you were riding an Uber, check the address with Google maps. Somehow our Uber got us to a place that was near the football field instead of the 2 miles away from the hotel we were staying at. It was a mess, but we finally figured it out. Service, was 10/10! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted super warmly and our coats were checked for free. The two older women at the front desk were so kind and when we mentioned that it was our first night in the neighborhood, they went out of their way to make our experience amazing. We opted to sit at the bar and our bartender was very knowledgeable and explained the menu and the history of the building and helped us choose exactly what to order. The ambiance was a very sophisticated yet cozy feeling. Bar is beautifully lit and the building is stunning. We ordered 2 drinks, firecracker shrimp to start, and then split a burger. I'd say the best part of the meal were the fries! I had higher hopes for the burger but overall it was still delicious and juicy. Just not as flavorful as I had hoped. My husband and I came here on Friday (Valentine's day weekend). Traffic was horrendous so we called and let them know that we were running a bit late. We arrived 15 minutes late, and were told that they held our table (thank goodness, it took us almost 2 hours to get there!) but that we would have to be out by 8:15. At this time it was approaching 7:00. I know they have tables they need to turn over, so I wasn't upset about this. We were seated and our waiter came by after a few minutes. He took our drink order and was gone for 10 minutes before he came back to discuss the menu and appetizers. We put in our order and it was another 15 minutes before the soups that we ordered arrived. This would not of even been a big deal if we weren't told at the beginning that we would only have a little over an hour to eat! I was anxious about the slow service the whole time! The soup was good! We both ordered french onion. Our appetizer came out after the soup (weird order in my opinion). We ordered the firecracker shrimp. That was good! All of the food was delicious. My husband and I both had the ribeye, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts (so yum!). I added truffle butter to my steak. I personally was not a fan. The food was so good and I will definitely plan to be back. However the service was super slow. It was 8:15 when we got our steak! At that point I decided to relax and realized they wouldn't kick us out when I had just received my meal! This was the first time we were back since they rebuilt from the fire. Then had the "The Firehouse Executive" special, which feeds two and comes with so much food you will have leftovers. The staff were gracious and efficiently moved to ensure guests were having a wonderful experience. Appears their floor manager is "da man" and well, you can tell he runs a tight ship. Overall, it was a chill vibe and Kristie is the best! Along with the gentlemen who worked alongside her to ensure tables were engaged and served seamlessly. I've been there many times since 2005, having had lunch, attending conference dinners, general dining and pass celebrations. At yesterday's gathering when the busboy was clearing the appetizer plates he kept reaching over me and my plate of food ( I was still eating). The first time, I thought it was because he could not get to my left to clear the plates because there may have been someone sitting directly behind me. And, if that was the case, he could have asked and I would have passed him the plate, instead of him reaching over me and my food. That was the first time and he came back again and reached over me again. I looked behind me and there was nothing blocking him from coming around me to clear the plates. I found it quite disrespectful and frankly rude, others at the table did notice but, I didn't want to make a scene. I rarely leave reviews but, since this is prime tourist season in Chicago, I wanted the guests coming to our world class city to know how the staff at this restaurant treats its valued customers especially in this economy. I felt that if it were a different group of people the busboy would not have been so insolent. I don't think you can unlearn ignorance or a lack of caring. A mental note was made and with so many other fabulous restaurants in Chicago, I don't think we going to go back. read more

I ordered brussel sprouts that I didn't receive (or pay for, so ok) and was upsold on steak sauces we didn't need. Finally they presented us with backward orders: I ordered my steak medium rare and my wife ordered medium to receive my steak medium and my wife got the medium rare. To make this mistake convenient ww complained but switched the steaks with toppings one them (we really didn't need). Finally in my opinion the medium rare was a little too rare but I ate it so I didn't complain. My point is for the cost and location of this restaurant they could do their organization better. When I order fried pickles I expect pickle chips to be fried not small pickles. The onion rings were well fried but only 4 were offered. There has to be some middle ground between like the amount of onions giving at a place like cheesecake factory compared to nice steakhouse. Also ordered lobster bisque. I had such high hopes for this restaurant! It is beautiful inside, and the menu looked amazing! The front desk staff was friendly and efficient. They seated our 10-person party as soon as everyone was present (we had reservations). We were greeted by our waitperson who took our drink orders. When he returned for our dinner order he started out strong by asking if there were any food allergies at the table he should know about. We had a lot of confidence going in that he would be attentive to those at our table who had food allergies. He took our order and the food was pretty good. It all went down hill from there...We had ordered a cake for a birthday we were celebrating. They brought the cake out and left it for us to cut and serve. The cake was made very well, but they didn't even provide us with the proper cake cutter to do it justice. It was a mess. They were unsure about the allergens in the cake, when we asked the waitperson, the response was I imagine that it's ok. That's not what you want to hear. An honest yes or no is the best answer. They eventually tried to get a hold of the pastry chef who had left for the day but were unsuccessful. In the future it would be helpful if ingredients used was listed and left for a situation like this. The cake was not cheap. This upscale American restaurant is in an old firehouse (hence the name), that was transformed into a nice dining space while still preserving aspects of the rich history. The ceilings showcase the original iron work, and you can see the vintage Tiffany tile on the inside as well. It's a beautiful space, and great for a fancier work dinner or date. The complimentary bread and butter they start you with is amazing- warm and buttery, honestly my favorite part of the meal. I got the Steak Frites (med rare) and it was fine. Fries were delicious. The Pimm's Cup cocktail I ordered was botanical and refreshing- nice to see on the menu. Service is good too- the hostess was super friendly, our waiter was really attentive, but food came out a bit slowly.
