I came here a few weeks ago for a wedding. It's such a nice, little hidden gem in Alhambra. There's a beautiful courtyard for the reception in here. And I love the missions feel all around. I thought the venue was beautiful and they even had real grapevines in the main area outside. read more

The Grapevine Arbor (1861) is an event space in SG Mission district. It's beautiful Spanish-style architecture and lush garden is a perfect setting for weddings, receptions, birthdays or that very special event. They have dining space that provide elegance, privacy, and size required for their gathering. Overall, I highly recommended GrapeVine. read more

Fees- By far the most affordable wedding venue we visited! Only $1,200 for the most basic option and a refundable $300 deposit. This place is constantly booked solid. Additional rooms, sections of the park are available and run around $100/hour, set up/breakdown need additional hours and the kitchen served more like storage for us but we still paid the fee even though our caterer set up a kitchen outdoors. Paid slightly over $2k overall. Capacity- Held my wedding reception for 130 people April 2018 in the outdoor portion of the portion of the park, although it could easily hold 200+ people. Our ceremony was in a church but can totally be accommodated there as well. Parking- free and widely available at the park n ride about a block away from the playhouse, but it was annoying we couldn't park at the actual playhouse because there was an event going. We wanted to "prepay" for our guests but we weren't allowed. We created a map for them and it seemed ok. Sound Restrictions- If there is an event at the playhouse all amplified sounds need to be indoors, there were no complaints and we did not end up using the Portillo Room but I did ask our dj to set up 2 booths which was annoying but otherwise ok. We ended our party at 11pm. Alcohol Restrictions- read this portion of the contract carefully as it seemed pretty limiting to us "5 - 24 pack cases of beer, 1 signature drink and 2 bottles of wine per table" it was actually not a problem for us and our friends/family are drinkers... you could also consider a keg. The facility already includes the alcohol permit. Security -- is required and you need 1 guard per 100 people, we had 2 security guards from "omega security"based in Pasadena. The facility provides a list to choose from. Rentals- The facility includes metal folding chairs, 60in plastic round tables, a decent bar, rectangular 6feet plastic tables and card tables sizes. You just need to rent good linens! We ended up bringing our own chairs and bar since we wanted a "nicer look" Catering and all Decorations-- Must bring EVERYTHING, it's pretty awesome you can bring your own food however we rented literally an entire kitchen right down to the non slip floors to create an outdoor cooking area. Big PLUS facility an huge fridge and ice machine!!! We still purchased our own but trust me you will want to chill beforehand. Lightning- we used market lighting everywhere and there is a bright stadium style light that is on at night so you don't need much. Neptune lighting has done a few weddings there. City Staff- we worked with Tom Bodeck and he was super easy to work with and very knowledgeable. Bathrooms- they are definitely park bathrooms with pink outdated tile... so not fancy at all. We brought semi nice paper towels but they are still park bathrooms. read more

I declare that this is the most slept on venue in all of SoCal!! My husband and I planned to have our wedding and reception in this beautiful community building but our wedding guest list decreased by 50 percent and we wanted more of an intimate setting. We wished so badly that we could figure out some type of way to use this venue. It has such character and history, is very affordable and accommodating for any type of gathering. The venue has SO much to offer, chairs, tables, kitchen, outiside, inside. It's CLEAN. The faculty corresponds well and timely and are happily ready to answer questions. I can't say enough good things about this space. It also helps to have the beautiful theatre next door for a photo opp for an event or wedding. So many spaces to take great photos!! Inside there are options to use two rooms both of which are a pretty nice size, the outside is where you are charmed by the architecture and also the beautiful grapevine, the entry to the place is just stunning. very rustic and rich with history. If you dont need to plan an event here, the place is open during the day during the week and you can just go and have lunch in the park. It's so worth it! :) read more

I had my wedding here and never really expected this to be a venue for weddings. However I'm pleased with how beautiful it looked in photos and on the wedding day. It's actually a very photogenic venue. However on the day of there was some hiccups. One was with technology. The mic that I rented from the venue doesn't have a long range, it was about a 3 feet radius. So we could not use the mic as intended. Please test the mic or have your own equipment. The venue requires we pay to have service from the facility. They said a guy would be dedicated to be there and help us on that night. But the guy working that night was MIA for most of the night and we had to search around for him every time something went wrong. For instance, when we didn't get all the tables we asked for. Or when we wanted to unlock the bathroom. The security guard that we hired from an outside venue (whom works often with Grapevine Arbor Park) actually had to help us on many occasions. I would give this place 4 stars if it wasn't for the terrible service fees for service we did not receive. I mentioned this to the manager Matthew Morales-Stevens, but he only said he'll look into it. I lost my security deposit because my wedding started later than plan due to most of these logistics and hence I was in the venue later than the 5 hours I paid for. I also think it's terrible that they charge for early set up fees when the venue isn't being rented by anyone else but you for the day. So watch out for all the extra fees the venue adds in there. It's not a set fee. There is a kitchen usage fee and per room fees too. They don't hide the fees, very upfront but like any event, you need to budget for what you need. I rented the entire area but really didn't need it. That doesn't take away from the beautiful venue though. I think a real gem of SGV for an outside wedding venue. read more

Beautiful setting for any type of party including lovely indoor and outdoor space. Party we attended was catered by Porto's Cuban Bakery! Being Cuban I rode my Peloton extra hard so I could enjoy all the yummy sandwiches and our pastries. The old vine is a lonely place to sit. I believe it's like 52 years old and beautiful. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place for a wedding. We came here to have a look and so far, it looks like an ideal venue for an outside wedding ceremony. The grapevine arbor is a perfect setting for the exchanging of the vows. Their rectangular layout makes it easy to set up the chairs and there are large trees so the guests aren't entirely exposed to the sun should the wedding occur in the hotter months (which is most months in LA). Grapevine Arbor Park is located in the San Gabriel Mission district, which means that the architecture of most buildings are influenced by the adobe style. Despite San Gabriel being a fairly large city, this area feels very quaint as it is set slightly apart from the streets. Oh, and San Gabriel residents get a discount on venue rental. Seeing that this is highly likely to be our wedding ceremony venue, I will update should we decide on this site. read more

I had my wedding reception at the Grapevine Arbor Park and it was a beautiful setting for my rustic, garden theme. It's also a good place to hold both a ceremony and a reception. It's a charming area that is closed off to the streets and other areas by walls, so the party felt private and secluded. Keep in mind the beautiful grapevine arbor tree goes dormant during the winter months. I first viewed the grounds in late May when the tree was full of lush, green leaves, but during my wedding the following year in early April, it was mostly dried branches with few green leaves. Pros: City owned so the rental fee is very affordable. Rental fee includes plastic chairs, tables, a bar. The fee does not change when the season changes, so even if you book during the peak wedding months, you will still get the same rate. A lot of weddings are planned here so the city knows the drill and provides you with a list of their recommended vendors that they work well with. A lot of different little areas for rustic photo backdrops, in fact, many couples make this a stop just to take wedding photos. Cons: It's pretty much a blank slate so it allows you to be creative, but if you want easy and all-inclusive this is not for you. Unless you go very basic, you will likely have to coordinate rentals, caterer, entertainment yourself. Also, you will have to pay extra for bringing in lighting, dinnerware, dance floor, linens, decorations, etc., so factor that in when determining overall costs. There are rules and limitations set by the city, such as alcohol limits and no parking when there is another event. Make sure you understand and accept them before signing the contract. read more

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at the Grape Vine Arbor back in September and it was the perfect casual outdoor wedding venue that I was looking for. The price was not only affordable but includes use of tables and chairs, 2 portable bars, and labor to help with the set up and break down. All calls and emails were promptly returned and the staff was always very friendly and helpful. They give you a "referral list" of vendors that they work with a lot, but that you don't HAVE to chose from, and all of them are more affordable options. They also only rent out the facility to one party a day, with us this was important because LA had been in a hot streak and there was a possibility of it being in the 90's. So we wanted an option to move indoors the day of if it was too hot, they said yes, that we would have to pay the extra $500 for the "full facility" rental price if that happened, which we were fine with to have the peace of mind that it was an option come heat/rain. I got SO many compliments on how wonderful the venue came out and how beautiful the whole day was. I am so happy we chose to go with the grape vine arbor! read more
