Andy Brown is a beautiful space, from the pond to the open fields, the sidewalk/bike path, multiple large pavilions, and fun playground. There are large, mature trees surrounding the park. We parked in the wrong lot and had to walk alongside the gym in order to get to the playground and I couldn't believe how beautiful the pathways were with all the trees and the small creek running alongside. Not what I expected from a city park! The playground itself ("Kid Country") is almost fully enclosed and is a sprawling assortment of things to climb up, swing on, and slide down. There is a play area in the toddler section with storefronts to spark pretend play. The ground is bark. There are large trees in the center of the play area that provide shade and make the play structure look more natural than your typical playground. Almost like a tree house. There are benches scattered throughout the play area and a large covered pavilion with multiple picnic tables underneath. The city of Coppell provides free WiFi there and there were multiple moms with laptops out, working, while their kids played. The only big negative is the distance from the playground to the bathroom. I understand that they probably built the bathrooms more toward the center of the park, but the wise choice would have been to also put an additional small restroom right next to the playground. It's too far of a walk for me to feel comfortable sending my younger kids over there alone and it's kind of a bummer to have to wrangle together the entire group every time one kid has to pee. Otherwise, a fabulous park. LOVE IT. Hats off to you, Coppell!

Setting up my outing was very easy. Ben was very responsive and even though I was setting things up close to my trip he was able to accommodate me. There was some nasty weather forecast so since I had the whole weekend available we decided to play it by ear and make the call to fish the day before. We fished Joe Pool Lake and left the boat dock at sunrise, it was a chilly 33 degrees that morning! We hit some of Ben's favorite spots and it wasnt long before I got the first fish in the boat. I didnt catch any huge fish that day, but I did catch numbers. Long story short we were laughing so much and having such a great time I decided to extend my half-day charter to a full day (thank you Ben for accommodating!) We fished well past sunset as Ben was determined to get me a big bass... alas it wasnt meant to be. Ben has a clean bass-boat in great condition, well organized tackle and higher-end rods and reels. He was very gracious in getting me re-rigged, and unsnagging me while handing me a new rod to use in the meantime. He was able to accommodate my rod/reel preferences as well (spinning, bait-casting, etc.) We fished exclusively artificial lures my trip and he was open me to bringing my own gear also. I am planning on taking my teenage son down to fish some Texas bass and will definitely be seeing Ben's guide services when I do. Thanks Ben!

After the gate is closed if you need to be let out, you have to call the police. But there's so much to do here! Not just the swimming area! There's a hiking trail, playground and walking trails. Beautiful views and plenty of space to social distance yourself. The trails are available for no fee as far as I could tell, but the swimming area near WhoaZone is $5. They do not take cash, only debit/credit card. The swimming area has a playground and picnic areas. I think there's a spot to cast your kayaks off over there too, but I stayed near the beach and didn't explore anything else. I saw vehicles with kayaks going over on the other side. If you have water shoes, I'd say bring them and a beach umbrella as there's no shade. The sand isn't too uncomfortable to lie in, there's just cigarette butts here and there. But I definitely recommend visiting for the day or even camping if you're into it!

Someone recommended this to me as a "sandy beach". It is a beach, and there is some sand, but the…read moreshore is probably a 50/50 mix of packed dirt and sharp pebbles. OUCH! The rock bottom extends out a couple of yards into the water, where it turns to clay. For swimmers, the rockiness is less of an issue - get past the rocks and swim/float your heart out, but the rocks along the shore make it significantly less enjoyable for babies. Running along the shore and splashing in the shallow water is painful without water shoes. For a true SANDY BEACH, check out Twin Points Park at Eagle Mountain Lake or Little Elm on Lake Lewisville instead. Twin Points is nicer, if you're deciding between the two. Pros: it's a pretty spot, with nice views. Plenty of parking - $5 per car. CREDIT/DEBIT ONLY. There is a dock for jumping off (which we didn't notice until we were leaving, sadly!). Not very crowded on a Saturday in August. Pretty clean, other than the bathrooms. Alcohol permitted (or if not permitted, certainly not regulated). Days swimming at the lake are SO MUCH FUN! Aside from the rocky shore, the only big negative was how gross the bathrooms were. We were there pretty early, so clearly they aren't cleaned daily. Also, the whoa zone is SO EXPENSIVE!!!! It looks fun but I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people pay that much to be there. It's $22 a person for ONE HOUR! Mon-Thurs they also offer a $50 all day pass. For our family of 7, I consider that cost prohibitive. Overall, it was a fun day at the lake, but Meadowmere Park is just not the best DFW has to offer.

We wanted to do something fun with the kids. We originally planned to rent from another business…read morebut they didn't do rentals because of the lake flooding. They recommended we try Sam's Dock. The hours of the business say they close at 8 pm. No where on their site or at their location do they state the last rental was at 6 pm. We arrived at 6:02 and the woman wouldn't rent a jet ski to us. It was disappointing for the kids but we decided to return the next day. We arrived with plenty of time to rent a jet ski. There were 5 of us but it turns out we can't rent a jet ski for 3. Because of this, we didn't want to leave one child alone at the dock so we opted to rent one jet ski and my husband took the kids out to the lake one at a time. We sat at the restaurant, which was closed, in between the kids' turns. The minimum rental is 2 hours on the jet skis and you have to pay for gas on top of the rental fee. This was a surprise to us. We ended up having to pay an extra $50+ for the gas for 2 hours. Just be aware of that. This side of the lake there wasn't any parking fee so that was good. I think they provided us with a military discount, which was great. My husband mentioned the young man didn't know how to use the point of sale computers either. It took at least 30 minutes to check in and pay before getting on the jet ski so make sure to factor in that your timing.

We know our way around boat rental companies, lake rules and how to operate water devices. Yesterdays experience was so unprofessional it was hard not to just walk away, but because we had 6 young kids who were excited for a 'boat day' we kept moving forward. Upon arrive we noticed that we had an older boat. It looked small, had bird poop and spider webs all over it. I had to wipe everything down. The back rope tie by the ladder was cracked and we had to wrap it with a towel so our kids did not scratch themselves on it. We asked to switch to the newer boat and were lied to that the owner had the keys and were not on property. That is 100% false. They also did not have kid life jackets. How do you rent out boats and not have kids life jackets? Mind blowing to me. What they offered to us was from 1996. The other life jackets were way too large for our 7 year olds. Completely unsafe. They also didn't have any adult life jackets to offer us. We had to use the orange Titanic versions of life jackets for the adults. The captains chair was broken. So my husband had to sit on up on his feet to see over the top of the boat. How dangerous is that? The child who got us in the boat said "I will make sure and write that down so we don't charge you for that"... ummm how about let's talk about how dangerous this is? We made our way to our favorite spot on Grapevine lake and we turned the boat off so we could swim in the water. After 45 minutes we tried to turn the boat back on and the key broke in half. I called the office and I was answered with a 'hello'. They then could not figure out where we were on the lake. Mind blowing to me. My husband finally got the boat started with his pocket knife. We made our way back to the store. When we arrived the person asked if we had a good time like we were going to get off. We still had over an hour left on our rental. My husband went inside to speak to the 'manager' and he told my husband THAT WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE KEY WE BROKE. What on earth? Absolutely not. That's how you greet a customer after getting stranded on the lake from your rental boat. My husband said we want to move to a new boat and GUESS WHAT?? They magically had the keys to the boat we wanted in the first place. We moved our items over to the new boat (with no help from the staff) and finished the rest of our rental time. They didn't offer any discount. We were all so tired we didn't have time to speak to the 'manager' that was on site. We have lived in Grapevine since the 70s. I will NEVER recommend this place to any one. What a horrible experience and customer service.

It's a perfect walk for a hot summer morning. The park also boasts a pond with fishing pier and a very sweet little bird watching area, a nice gazebo, and a small (but fun) playground. The playground is FULLY SHADED by the mature trees surrounding it. The only negatives to McCormick park, so far as I can tell, are the absence of both a bathroom and clear trail maps. There is one map that gives an overview of how the main trail connects to the different parks, but I think there ought to be a more detailed trail map at every fork in the trail. And not having bathrooms is a serious drawback for people with kids. I pushed my luck too long this morning and my 2 year old peed her pants. Parks need bathrooms!
